    • What Is PCI DSS Compliance?
    The Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS) Council was established by major credit card companies to protect customer information and ensure that merchants meet specific standards of security when they process transactions with cardholder data.

    PCI security standards are a set of guidelines devolved by the PCI DSS Council. According to their web site, the Council’s mission is to enhance payment account data security by fostering broad adoption of the PCI Security Standards.

    Organizations that accept credit card payments must meet the guidelines set by the PCI Council in order to be compliant with their security guidelines and eliminate the risk of fines or penalties for non compliance.
