Connect external devices to your HP notebook with this HP UltraSlim Docking Station. It has two AV DisplayPort™ connectors and a VGA port, so you can link up to two external monitors or projectors to your laptop at the same time. This HP 2013 UltraSlim docking station has a 3.5mm jack for your headset. It comes with an RJ-45 Ethernet® port for tapping the internet from your wired workgroup network. With four USB® 3.0 Type-A ports, this device lets you attach external storage drives.

One of the USB ports supports power delivery for charging mobile devices. The HP EliteBook docking station has a compact design that easily slides into your backpack for lightweight transportation. It fits on select HP ProBook, EliteBook and ZBook Series laptops for rapid installation. An integrated LED indicator lets you know when the unit is connected. This device has two Kensington® security lock slots, so you can secure your HP D9Y32UT docking station for HP EliteBook 850 G6. It comes with a 65-watt adapter, which provides enough power to connect both external hard drives and solid-state drives.

No need to get out the power adapter for the laptop as the docking station charges also. Just set it on the pins, lock it in place and hit the 'wake up' button!

I have used three of these for over 5-years (one at office, one at home office, one in briefcase for travel/long meetings/training). I have never had a single problem. Very easy to setup, dock/undock. I run three monitors, USB wireless keyboard/mouse, B/T (USB dongle) headset, HD video camera/speaker, external speakers, and external hard drive on both my office and home office desks. I have 2 ea. 6’ DisplayPort to DisplayPort adapter and 1 ea. DisplayPort to VGA adapter cables; and every available connection on these two docking stations used and, as mentioned, have never had the slightest issue. I use the traveler to hookup a full size Bluetooth keyboard/mouse, a traveler B/T headset (USB dongle) for my soft-phone, and carry several DisplayPort to HDMI/digitalVGA/DisplayPort cables to connect the docking station to whatever displays/projector/etc. I need to use, or can find. I highly recommend this excellent tool if you have a lot of accessories and displays, move around between offices and long meetings like planning events, etc., and your electronic presence is one of the most important tools in you have, and you push it to its limits.

It does have 2 ports and a vga which lead to thing it should run 3+ monitors with no issues. Not the case. we have found we must use 1 display port, 1 vga, and buy a HP graphics hub adapter vga to usb to get all 3 to work. We have HP monitors all able to accept USB A/B, Video, VGA & DVI but this is the only way we have made it work. wish I could add more than the 3 I have to this but would require more graphics adapters

Being used every day their life is roughly 18 months- and HP does not offer any kind of support after that period of time. HP has the Worst customer service!

My Elite Book sets right in place, a simple slide of the lock and push on the power button and I'm up and running. The port connections across the back make desktop arrangement simple too. And disconnecting is one slide and lift and I'm on the go. Love it!

I am using 1 HP 1080P DP display, 1 Asus HDMI 1080P display (DP to HDMI converter in use), and 1 HP VGA 1080P display. This thing is awesome for my workstation needs (I wish I could afford 3 identical monitors but hey).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features but treat them gently. I have approximately 30 of these deployed for about 1.5 years now and they have been great for the users. No issues with multiple displays as most users have 2, one VGA the other DP and they work great...until now. After about 1.5 years and passed the 1yr warranty, the users with the most dock/undock usage have issues docking their unit. It seems the construction of the screws that hold in place the plastic tab that supports the little "L" shaped tabs that lock the laptop in place break off from their base preventing the "L" tabs from rising far enough. A little super glue/CAA can repair most. Remind your users to dock/undock carefully and not forcefully to save wear and tear on an insufficiently designed stress point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No HDMI, no standard lock cable I have two screens with HDMI. I cannot connect any of them because the docking station has only 2xDP ports. I cannot use my old lock cable, because if I introduce it in the small hole that look is to be used for locking the station+the laptop...the laptop can simply be removed as it's not locked. Is this hole of the docking station designed to lock only the docking station itself? I need to buy another cable to lock both laptop and docking station.

My employer provided the docking station with the laptop as a remote workstation solution. After two months of use, here is my take on the pros and cons. Pros: Slim, Minimal footprint, Display Ports work perfect with my dual screen setup, External displays work, Audio out works, USB works, Boot time not impacted Cons: Does not support mic input, required display driver update to resolve external displays recognition issue - laptop display had to be opened and closed to send the video output to the external displays, does not use the same power supply (PS) adapter as the laptop. Overall, I like all the USB and Display Ports. Perfect for my workstation. It's easy to lock and unlock the laptop from the docking station. If anything changes, I'll revise my rating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Massive die off around 2 years This product is great when it works, but after 2 years of using these for our entire office (i.e. ~45 units), we are experiencing massive and wide-spread die off of the ports, meaning the connection to the monitors stops working completely. None of the firmware updates do anything, and after speaking to HP support we are left to conclude that these simply aren't built to last longer than a year or two. Given the high price point compared to universal docks, these are hardly worth it and should be a hard pass unless you like spending $160 on cheap plastic you'll throw out in a year.

They work well enough and are certainly lightweight, unfortunately, with the HP's I purchased (at the same time from the HP direct sales rep), the HDMI port is covered by the docking station, and the docking station does not have an HDMI port. This requires a monitor to be connected by the more bulky blue VGA connector.

The one drawback is it covers one of the USB ports on the side of my HP Probook laptop. So much for seamless design from the maker of both products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from design did not work with all models cannot understand how does HP design team could manage to release a product that actually blocks the side ports (including one of the USB two ports) of the laptop, cuasing me that I must disconnect and re plug the device that I had on that port. If you are the one who runs to a couple of meetings in a sigle day, this feature may cause a little bit of frustration.

If I take my laptop off the docking station, on return one or both monitors will be blank or blink or fuzz causing immense frustration. After spending expensive hours with IT trying to work out what the issue is we finally work out it's the docking station...but it's gone past 1 year so on the support center there is no help available. soooooooooooooooo frustrating

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dual DP ports are a ruse I bought this particular dock because it had Dual DP Display ports,plus a VGA port, making it appear that I could run 2 remote monitors plus use a DP-HDMI cord to also feed a HiDef TV as an addition video display for a total of 3 remote displays. Well, this is just NOT possible with this dock. it will let you use the VGA plus DP-HDMI, but the 2nd DP port can't bu used at all if any other monitor is connected. I tried every imaginable setup possible, DP-VGA adapter, DP-DVI-D adapter, but there is no apparent way to feed more than 2 remote displays with this dock. I'm not sure why they even have the 2nd DP port, since it does not appear to work at all. Perhaps if you have 2 newer style monitors with DP in ports, it might work, but I can't even find monitors with DP ports. Maybe this is coming down the road, but this Dock misleads you to think it can do more than it actually can. I also can't imagine why it doesn't have an HDMI port so you don't have to buy a new cord or adapter to feed HDMI sources. I am using the Dock with a brand new ZBook 15u. Disappointed. My 8 year old HP with an old USB-3.0 dock had more remote display capability than this does.

Second display port is window dressing and is completely non-functional. It is unbelievable to me it is still on sale 3 years after introduced without addressing the display problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice docking station, some issues The slim design of this unit is nice on a cluttered desk and allows you to maximize the depth of your workspace. I encountered an issue with my external monitors which requires a firmware patch to resolve. I also found it difficult to find out how to lock the laptop to the docking station. Apparently you need to have a specific locking cable and pry the plastic cover off the right side if you want to lock BOTH the docking station and the laptop with a single security cable. That's inconvenient!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly recommended but design flaws The product has all necessary ports including 4 USB3, RJ45, display ports, 3.5 mm jacks and VGA but.... 1. blocks one of the 2 usb ports in my EliteBook G3 820, so essentially you get 3 additional USB not 4. 2. blocks air/reduces ventilation because the laptop sits on the big flat docking station with very less air gap leading to accumulation of the heat. The laptop runs much cooler without the docking station.

Sometimes after that has happened all applications running gets moved to the primary monitors. Do not plug in headphones to the docking station, sound will then become terrible. I have four colleges with the same problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Do NOT buy this. This is the worst docking station I have ever owned. There are no guide pins so you have to work and work at it to get it in place. My old docking station was under a shelf, so I just eased my laptop in the small space to the line up pins and done. This docking station I have to remove the shelf EVERYTIME in order to line up and dock this laptop. it also does not connect or wake up well with the remote monitor. often I have to remove my shelf, open the lid to the laptop to get it to wake up. I absolutely hate this docking station, but I'm stuck with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blocks USB-C The huge slab of plastic with power button and eject slider blocks the USB-C port on the laptop, and the dock itself does not have a USB-C port. Plus; the eject slider has some nasty sharp edges that will hurt your fingers if you are not careful.

I use the laptop for one screen and then plug in two others. The dock is super slim and light, I love that. It's exactly what I wanted. I bought a quad-monitor stand from Bargain Hunt for $22! Now I am set. My speakers and my peripherals all plug in and I didn't run out of ports. The design is very elegant and streamlined. I am getting another one for downstairs now that I know this one works so well!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Issues with Displayports We have hundreds of these docking stations at our office. The work well as long as you don´t try to connect a 4K display to it using Display port. The 4K diplay either does not get any signal at all or the display just "flickers" There is another version of this docking station with product number B9C87AA that has only one display port connector instead of two. That one works with the 4K display without any issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great hardware We use many of these for our work at a large medical center. The dock works well and it is easy for the users to dock and undock the laptops. I do agree that the ports do need to be brought up to more current configuration as many monitors are HDMI (digital) and it would be great to add a USB-C or two to the dock. I would say that if you are purchasing a new laptop, it is time to sunset the VGA port, as this is old technology. As far as the other reviews that give this dock a 1 star, I would not agree with, as the laptop/dock should not be moved and not sure what is sharp on the dock as it is plastic and really easy to use.

I currently run three HDMI monitors on my docked hundred year old Dell and this HP docking station gets me two HDMI's and a VGA. I hope these designers don't work for NASA, they'd leave out the handle to get back in the spacecraft.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Limited Monitors I just received this docking station. Previously I had one that plugged into my USB C and that allowed 2 monitors. THen I plugged in a wall monitor to the HDMI. This station only has 2 DP and on VGA port and when the laptop is docked you cannot access the HDMI or any other ports for that matter. SO when docked you have not access to USB C ports on the laptop OR the dock. Pretty disappointed for this price.

I can have email and teams open on the laptop while manipulating other documents on the other two. Made life much easier. I purchase the unit for home now I can bring laptop home and have the same setup. I will also use this setup for my home laptop which is soon to come. Life is Good, for computing!

I have purchased several dozen for staff, and only had one issue. HP replaced that dock after a firmware update did not resolve the issue. I have had no issues with the sliding mechanism by any staff, ever. If you don't abuse your stuff, this should last the life of the laptop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They Just Break I manage an enterprise with over seven thousand employees. I go through many of these. I have found the failure rate to be at about %40 of docking stations. Which is to say that if I buy ten I can expect at least four to malfunction with in 3 months of purchase. I have found the sliding lock mechanism to be quite gimmicky and unnecessary. This is the part that will usually go bad causing the slide lock to not push into the laptop connector correctly. Typical users will attempt to force it and it breaks. I still buy these cause I have no other choice but a heads up, they are not reliable docking stations.

I would only buy this if there is no other alternative. In our case I will be returning and not using a docking station.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Half in, half out on the worthiness of the product I've seen a lot of reviews stating that the life of the dock is short, and I've not had that problem and I've had it for over a year. I had one at a previous company and had no issues with it. I'm able to utilize a 3 monitor setup on this, 2 DisplayPort and 1 VGA. I've used two different KVM setups as well, and the dock has performed decently on both, when paired with my zBook 15u G3, but not without issues. However, I'm still not able to determine whether the issue lies with the laptop or the dock. The audio port on the back of the dock generates a heck of a buzzing noise when speakers, headphones, or earbuds are plugged into it. I've tried everything, up to and including placing a power conditioner before the UPS, installing a ferrite ring over the power to both the speakers and the docking station, changing UPSes, and still no joy. I've ordered another for my house, so I'm going to see if maybe it's the same issue at home, but the jury is still out. I've also had issues with the monitors acting up when going from docked to undocked and vice versa, but I've heard that has a lot to do with the AMD/Intel video combo in the laptop, so I've just accepted that as a laptop issue. All in all, I've not had one fail, but I also wouldn't call it a rock solid docking station either.

The docking post are made of plastic and can break off easy if you're not careful. One was shipped with a broken post and we had another one that broke within 3 months. 3 out of 50 or so that we purchase is not bad but I really think they could have reinforce the docking post with a better material.

I run an office of +100 and have seen many of these docks stop working or ports go bad on them. 2 DP ports and 4 USB 3.0 ports are nice but the VGA port is useless and should be replaced with HDMI support. The power cable not matching between the dock and their elitebook line is just plain silly. But, alas, it's still better than Dell.

The only qualms with this piece of hardware is the fact that it blocks one of the USB ports on the right side of the laptop. Other than that, it has served our employees well.

When docking and un-docking all the monitors and other attached items work the first time every time. I would recommend this product to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HP Ultraslim... I chose HP laptops over Dell due to the fact that Dell's docking solution was just a USB attached box versus the platform you click in and go that HP offered. However, over the course of the year there have been issues with the hardware becoming unrecognized by the PC, turning off monitors keyboard and mouse. Once a unit exhibits this behavior it repeats every 2 days where users are typing away and everything goes dark.

Because I am working now from home, I treated myself to 2 4K monitors assuming that I can use the 2 dp outputs. Only 1 worked, and the second was maxed at 1080p. I should have bought a tb docking station or a usb-c for the price I paid for this one.

It's plug-n-play. The only issues I've ever had were with Win10, but that's all MS. The HP has been smooth as butter. 2 improvement I'd like to see: 1) more USB ports, 2) USB ports in the middle of the back are in the most user-unfriendly possible place.

I learned this when taking the dock home during quarantine. It would not allow my 4k monitor to go above stanard resolutions. Leave this one and buy the newer USB-C/Thunderbult dock, they are much smaller, sleeker, and can push full resolution & power through a single cable!

Removal of the laptop from the station is quick and easy for when you have to move around or travel with the laptop. DisplayPorts are a little modern for our office but adapters work well with this product. I will say this though, the description needs to be updated to include compatible models such as : HP Elitebook 735 G5, G6, Elitebook 745 G5, G6, EliteBook 755 G5, Elitebook 830 G5, G6, EliteBook 840 G3, G5, G6, Elitebook 850 G5, G6 are all compatible with the UltraSlim docking station. Had to do a chat to get that information.

That wouldn't be a big deal if it provided a USB-C port for the one it blocks. I mean seriously, either put the USB-C port on the opposite side, provide one on the dock, or dont block half of the ports on the one side with the docking station.

When it became apparent that we would continue to telework, I decided to set myself up like my work office. I was assigned a new HP computer and immediately ordered the docking station that would accommodate it. We cannot use the USB ports on our computer for anything but a mouse (yes, we have to use a wired mouse!) so the docking station allows me to plug in two 24" screens, my external hard drive, my mouse and keyboard. It's just great to have all of those wires behind my system and my setup now is as good as it was when I was working in the office. This was money well-invested!

In order to get further information after the docking station was delivered, I had to contact HP and at that time had to pay for services for a year. The laptop did connect to the docking station, and I was able to power the laptop on and off with the station, but that was it. The docking station did not charge my device nor did it power the external screens that were plugged into the station. Getting an RMA issued to return this item involved an HOUR on their website to find where/how to return an item. A representative responded via email, however my request for a return was not addressed, the response was to contact tech support. At 20 days later a return has not been generated, or addressed.
