Achieve a 21st Century Senior Care Community

Leverage secure mobility for modern care.

To improve efficiency and engagement, today’s senior care organizations must be digital, mobile and connected. Here’s an example of how such a community can benefit from a mobile device deployment:

Visitor Convenience

A senior care community partnered with CDW to achieve an enterprisewide mobility rollout. One area of concern centered on visitor engagement.  To streamline entry at the check-in desk, tablets were implemented with preloaded sign-in screens to help expedite the process, while at the same time ensuring security by establishing a detailed electronic log of resident visitors and whether they had permission to be there in the first place.

In addition, information was also preloaded onto the tablets, showcasing the community’s features, maps and amenities to friends and family members.

Secure Connectivity

Security is a top concern for this senior care community. In partnering with CDW, they were able to create a more secure mobile environment (both in terms of the network and the devices themselves). CDW reviewed their existing infrastructure and determined which secure wireless networking components were needed to bolster protection around guest and business networks, and help ensure secure EHR access on all clinician mobile devices.

The community also looked to CDW to recommend secure, easy-to-use tablets, notebooks and smartphones that would support a streamlined workflow and help it successfully pass the security assessments that, by license review, it was required to periodically undergo. As an extension of the mobile rollout, the community was able to attract more potential employees based on its modernized, digitally based setup.

Resident Engagement

Keeping residents happy and safely engaged is at the heart of this senior care community’s mission. CDW was integral in helping the community select easy-to-use tablets that could be wiped down for disinfection purposes,  making them ideal for sharing among residents. Also, with unique software, the tablets could be digitally wiped so that no personal resident information was ever stored on shared devices.

Residents can access menus to help choose their daily meals. They can also use the tablets to communicate with loved ones via email, messaging or video call. And, perhaps most important, residents can use any of the many engagement and enrichment apps downloaded onto the devices, all of which are geared toward alleviating boredom, stimulating cognition and exercising memory.
