The Brother HL-L5000D monochrome laser printer is ideal for small offices that need a printer with a Parallel interface for wide application compatibility. It features reliable, fast printing up to 42 ppm (Based on one-sided printing. Change from default setting required) and cost-efficient output thanks to a high-yield replacement toner cartridge. Plus, automatic two-sided printing helps save paper. Built-in parallel and USB interfaces provide flexible local connectivity and PCL6 and BR-Script3 emulations enable comprehensive application compatibility. Use the 250-sheet capacity paper tray for letter or legal-size documents, and print on envelopes and alternative media types from the 50-sheet capacity multi-purpose tray. For fewer refills, you can expand the paper capacity to 1,340 sheets with optional add-on trays.

Pruductivity PLUS
Having used Brother laser printers for the last 20 + years, the HL-5000D is by far the best printer investment I made. The versatility, speed and reliabilty has been both cost and time savinjg.

Disappointed in BC from
Shuts down computer
We ordered this printer online from Staples in March 2018 and are very disappointed with it. Upon setting it up, it shut the computer down when we plugged it in and over the past 5 months it frequently shut down the computer when we requested a print job. We were told we needed the entire packaging to return the computer however we only have the box as we recycled the styrofoam. We have other Brother products and they continue to work well.

Race Timing System Use!
Works great with our Timing System for Drag Racing, We needed to move Printer near our System Main Computer. Able to get adapter to use excising Printer Cables. Great Product. (Please Keep These in Stock!

Missing corect parallel adaptor
I ordered this printer because I was told that it will work with parallel port with my smog machine. Problem is There is no picture of the rear of the printer and the connector will not directly connect to my 36 pin.
Although CDW tried but they could not come up with a solution.
After spending few hours checking with several computer stores and learning what the different connections are called I found an adapter for the supplied cable on the internet that made it possible to work .
It all took about a week and half.
The manufacture should have either supply the correct cable , adapter or part number so the next buyer will not go through what I went through.

I got an email to review the purchase that I didn't get
I have not got the printer as the website kept saying payment not going through. now I get an email to review it, seriously. what if u charged us and not sent the printer? plz investigate and advise

Large job froze printer:data and error lights on
Even after unplugging for a week, plug back in and data and error lights still on. Told by brother to press some keys to factory reset BUT all keys are unresponsive! This has caused me serious grief and hours searching on internet. I’ve lost jobs, had work performance issues because I can’t print anything. This was a $500 printer and I can’t afford to go out and buy another. There is obviously nothing mechanical wrong. It printed just fine before I sent it a very large job, which it didn’t print. I erased everything including printer from my iMac set-up, and tried to “add” the printer again but now my iMac won’t even recognize there is a printer attached to it. Then it asks for ports and other things I have no idea where to find such numbers and I don’t have a “system admin” to ask. Very frustrating. I have been very please with brother monochrome laser printers up till now-having bought at least 5 of them. Now I’m really annoyed and hobbled by this problem. They did call once after I told them it didn’t work still but by the time I could call back it was the weekend and there is no support.

Works with Unikon Pigeon Racing Clock!!
My pigeon club has been looking for a newer printer that has the parallel port connection and will print directly from our Legacy/Professional racing pigeon clock. I am writing this review so that Racing Pigeon clubs will know that this printer works!!!!! Right out of the box!!
