Transmit and copy documents with ease and efficiency using the Brother® All-In-One Inkjet Printer. It offers the ability to scan, fax, copy and print all from one unit, replacing multiple devices and saving room in the office. Connect the Brother MFC-J895DW printer to Ethernet and scan directly to network folders or to specific users. It also connects to a single PC using USB and Wi-Fi®. Pair a mobile device, such as a phone or a tablet, with the Brother inkjet multifunction printer (MFP) and send print commands from wherever you are. Near Field Communication (NFC) technology removes the need for an additional network so that your device connects directly to the printer.


Scan and upload directly to cloud services or download and print documents stored in Google Drive™, Dropbox® or OneDrive®. The paper tray holds up to 150 sheets while auto-duplex offers resource conservation. There is also a document feeder and a bypass tray for inserting additional sheets. With the ability to handle several paper types, the Brother color MFP uses plain paper as well as photo paper and card stock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features! I am pleased with the performance of this printer. When my non-profit initiated the Shelter in Place, I ordered this printer to work from home. I did experience a hiccup with the ordering process. I initially received accordion file folders rather than the printer. After a few phone calls, and email exchanges, and a week longer, the printer finally arrived. The only functional issue i've had is inserting the paper tray. It can be a little fussy.

Had a competitor's printer for 15+ years and it did all I needed, print, fax, copy, etc. When I decided to upgrade I decided to ask a friend for his suggestions, otherwise I was going to go to my old standby company. He suggested the Brother model as noted and I decided to buy it. Very pleased with the purchase. Stet-by-step (with pictures to setup ALL the features the machine is capable of. I had it fully functional in 45 minutes.Excellent quality. All the bells & whistles I need and the footprint is smaller than my old printer. I've owned it for about 2 months and it is working fine. Hopefully it will still be running fifteen+ years from now :). Definitely recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wireless is Wonderful! We had an older workhorse HP inkjet that finally just broke. It had an ink cartridge hold down made of plastic that just gave out. Worthless after that. And it was not wireless. After reading reviews on this Brother MFC-J895DW, we knew what printer we would get next. We waited for it to go on sale and the wait was worth it! With all our wireless devices in the house, I only wish we had bought a wireless printer eons ago. It does seem to use ink pretty readily, but cartridges are reasonably priced and more importantly, easy to change. I'm also impressed with the features and the quality of this Brother product.

Staples did not have ink in stock; would take 5 days to get it in. New Brother cartridges will occasionally give error message, no ink! Lack of support for this printer is the major problem.

Trying multiple levels of paper, opening and closing various doors, and unplugging and re-plugging in (literally does not turn off by power button. Absolutely worthless. A miserable waste.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice size Can not for the life of get this printer to stay on my WiFi. I have to power down and restart the printer and the Mac every time I need to print something. I can print from my IPad just fine anywhere around the house so that tells me the WiFi is working just fine, but then if I try to print from my Mac that sits right next to printer and the printer sits about 15 feet and one interior wall away from my router. No luck (that sucks big time).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good, but some issues. I bought the MFC-J895DW because I also have a MFC-J625DW that has been my workhorse for 5 years. Like the 625, the 895 has a USB port which I assumed functioned similarly--e.g., scan to media (a thumb drive). However, on the 895, I can find no way to do this, basically the USB port is nonfunctional--hence, my one big issue with the printer. Also, of late I have had printer driver issues (using new Mac Mini) which makes me have to scan several times to get a good scan. All that said, the 895 prints beautifully if that is what you mainly do.

It may be easy for other more tech saavy people to install, but for this 64 year old relatively tech smart retired teacher to install it was like pulling my hair out. It took me HOURS!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great printer when not "Offline". I purchased my first Brother All-In-One Printer about 7 or 8 years ago. (MFC-J4620DW My 3rd and last printer is a MFC-J895DW. I have had it about 3-4 months. All 3 worked very well when they were not "Off-Line". I called your office Support Team, but they did not know how to fix it or they would go into an obvious script which when we got to the end and had not done "any good" they would say, "Well, I don't know what to tell you". When I asked why the company would install an obvious, direct way of taking the printer off-line why wasn't a similar way to get the printer back on-line (which takes several steps)? OK, so, there is a way of getting it back on-line, but why is it necessary to make it so difficult? When ON-LINE is the normal way of using the printer. I have NEVER taken any of these printers off-line. Also, why does the printer go off-line by it self? Several times I have been working on printing several reports and finished before going to bed, but by the morning it was off-line again. Making it necessary to jump through several hoops to get it back on-line. I would really appreciate a reply that explained how to get the printer back on-line with out having to make it so frustrating.

I like the simplicity and ease of install for both printers ! Print quality is good and replacement cartridges reasonably priced compared to other brands. I recommend the Brother ink jet product line !

Brother could delete half of the spam on the loading disk and it would do the same thing. I like the ink cartridges, but I do not get the picture sharpness as my HP. All in all, it is a better printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another great Brother Product I replaced my Brother MFC 495 which was still working fine but kept losing connection to my router, likely due to its age an no more firmware update since 2012 (I believe that was the last one). Even though it was still working, I am glad that I upgraded. I love the scan to email feature. Makes it much easier for my wife who is not too computer savvy. Print quality is similar to the older 495 model. It also allows for shortcuts for easy scan options and allows the option to add a PIN for added protection prior to scanning to a source. I knocked a star off because either the print cartridges that come with it are almost empty or the printer uses a lot of ink. My Cyan ran out in no time. Also, as others have stated, it makes a whirring noise when scanning. Aside from that, I really like the printer. And, it stays connected to my router.

Lo and behold, it was sooo easy to set up that I didn’t have to call my grandson for help! I’ve only been using it for about 2 months. Being able to print directly from my iPhone and iPad is really convenient and simple. The prints are crisp and clear. I’ve been very pleased so far.

Brothers do not carry a high yield replaceable ink cartridge so I am trying a off brand since it uses so much ink.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great printer so why only 4 stars Set up was a bear. I had to do a setup without using the disk provided because my laptop doesn't have a DVD. So I tried finding the setup software on the brother website with no luck. Finally, I decided as a last resort to search google and low and behold they knew where on the brother website the correct file was. It set up easily enough once I had the correct file. The printer prints really nice quality prints which I expected as this is not my first Brother. It is waaaaayyy faster than my old one. It is a little louder though.

The main consumers magazine gave it good ratings and much better than the other two so I decided to purchase with a good deal at OfficeDepot. Everything works the way it is supposed to and it has all the features I need for home/office use. While it’s paper tray capacity could be larger I don’t find that to be a significant negative. I have no connectivity issues including seamless Air Print. I’m not trying to print photos so I can’t comment on that. Setup was very quick and much simpler than my HP OfficeJet. So far, so good.

This is the first Brother printer I’ve owned and I am happy I switched from HP. Its the least expensive printer I’ve had and it’s works just as well as a printer three times the price. The cartridges are not as expensive as others I have used. I gave it four stars because the quality of the printing isn’t as crisp as I expected.

The only thing I can't comment on is the ink and how quickly it's used. The cartridges load easily and without making a mess on the machine or me. It performs even better than I had hoped. I'm very pleased with this printer and hope it lasts a long time.

Then all of a sudden it went "offline" and I haven't been able to get it back "online" no matter what I do. I have spent hours trying to fix this problem including reinstalling the software twice, but it still insists that it is "offline" and won't respond to wireless requests for printing. I have given up -- I have attached a cord to my laptop and use it that way. Of course, that means no possible printing from any other source. I'm quite upset but don't have the desire to waste any more time trying to trouble shoot the problem. Maybe other people have had good luck with the wireless printing, but not me!

So far we really are liking our Brother printer, one downside I’ve noticed is the default setting to use best print quality and to get normal print quality on something you only need copied, for example, you have to go through steps to change paper, etc. if you use ink jet paper, it automatically chooses best print..

Did have some missed area printing not all the way, but I was very easily navigated through the screens to get the print heads cleaned and this resolved the issue. In particular, when you print a test page, it uses very, very low ink, and this is very important.

Don't like that you can't have Windows 10 installed on your computer - if you do the printer WON'T WORK!!!! You need to fix this flaw soon and I had to find this out on my own after a week of trying to figure out what was wrong.

Only feature that should be added in my opinion is after sending a fax manually that you would be able to print a transaction report confirming fax sent, where sent too, number of pages and date/time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Print -- Poor Ink Supply I love that new Brother printer has WiFi so I can print from multiple devices, Black and white copy is better than color, but my God, I've owned this machine for a mere two months and on my third cartridge of Black ink and onto my second cartridge of color ink! I haven't gone through a ream of paper yet. My old Brother, printed hundreds of copies for years without my having to replace the ink cartridge until this past April.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works flawlessly so far I really like this printer. I got it to replace a canon pixma which ran for five years without going down once but was so expensive to run. This one is a lot cheaper and has a doc feeder. I was not satisfied with the auto ink replacement offered by brother and I just cancelled it. It came too close to empty ink. My wife works from home and can not afford to lose a day. Otherwise, as Cobsuners’ says, ITV is a good unit for the right price.

Occasionally, when trying to print, the MFC will message "offline" and is unable to print. When the MFC is next turned off and on, it will print all the items in the print queue, including those the would not print in the "offline" condition. Have not been able to troubleshoot and eliminate this issue. Curiously, my previous 6 year old MFC (not a Brother did the same thing. Downloading a more recent driver seemed to amelioriate but not completely eliminate the problem with the previous MFC. This small problem is occasionally annoying but not a big problem. Still like my Brother MFC.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It does use a lot of ink! In the reviews I read before buying a Brother printer, a consistent comment was about how much ink they used. I finally bought one in part because of Consumer Reports review, price, and how bad could the printer ink usage really be. As I've learned, it does use ink quite notably faster than my prior (non-Brother) printer, and the ink is rather expensive. I haven't found anything cheaper. Honestly, it's conceivable getting a new printer more conserving on ink costs might in the long run pay for itself. The quality of the printing is fine, but the printer is a bit noisy and the paper tray less convenient to use than my prior printer. Sorry, but I'm sure you will never publish this review, but I need to be honest.

I am slowly mastering the Brother and loving how the ink is lasting so far! I have been unable to print envelopes even though I have followed the videos to a "t" but I'm hoping to eventually find a way to do that. After a print miscue, I've ha to be careful to make sure the ink buffer is empty or it will print a sheet unexpectedly. It's not as handy when it comes to printing photos of various sizes, but it does an acceptable job with the photos. Overall, I'm pleased with the printer as it was reasonably priced with good features and great ink-life.

So this is my first Brother Ink Jet Printer and I like it very much. I have printed several hundred pages with NO Problems. I like having separate Ink Cartridges for each color. I bought a Brother MonoChrome Laser Printer for high volume printing where I do not need color.

I find the colors washed out a bit, the images not quite as sharp as my last printer, and there are definite vertical lines in the photos. You don't see them casually, but you see them if looking critically, as you might when you are preparing a gift for someone or printing for a keepsake. Other than that, it prints, copies, and scans very well. It is easy to send print jobs from your phone, and it stays online, unlike other wireless printers I have used. I recommend this printer unless your chief use is photos.

In rear Is he single feed feature routinely does not work without removing paper and putting it back in again. Gives an audio beep to signal ready to print but when the print is attempted an error message pops up that paper is jammed.

The colors are not as vivid as other printers, but still really nice and clear printed pages. I've had no issues that make me wish I'd bought a different one, so I deffinetly recommend this one. Cost of ink is a little more than I like, but we did do a lot of printing for home schooling four kids and getting their work done. It did operate flawlessly except when ink gets low. I found the scanning process a little confusing, however. But that's because I am "technologically challenged". : I have been told that the ink cartridges are much cheaper than what I was paying for my HP Printer. That is definitely a big plus!

Our previous printer, a Lexmark was discontinued, making it hard to get replacement cartridges, plus it started leaking ink all over printed pages, so it was definitely time to get a new one. We were without a printer for a number of months, partly due to Covid 19 & so many people working from home, causing the printers we were interested in constantly being out of stock. The Brother - MFC-J895DW was one of the printers we kept looking at and finally, after calling Office Depot/Office Max directly, we were able to order one. I didn't see an install CD in the box so went online to download the printer and had problems. Looked more deeply in the box and lo and behold, there was the install CD! Put it in and installed the printer and set everything up within a very short amount of time...VOILA! As I said, we don't use a printer often, but do like to be able to print, scan & copy documents and pictures of our kids and grandkids. We only have a desktop so not in need of any of the available apps. Do like the touchscreen and the fact that the cartridges are at the front of the printer, making it easier to access for replacement. I printed a picture to test the quality and we were very happy. I've printed documents and made copies and they came out nice as well. We're learning as we go, but so far we like it and have had no issues with it.

This one usually prints fast but sometimes it seems to take forever. It’s always slow while making copies. I did accidentally buy thicker paper so perhaps that is why it prints slow.

However even though the scanner is okay...there is no 2-sided scanning! Didn't find this out until after I received the printer and then had quite a bit of scanning to do. Being 2-sided meant I had to scan and the turn every page.

The print quality and speed is good, as was my previous Brother. Not sure how it does on ink, I haven't had to refill. I have had the opportunity to Fax and Scan, excellent results. Although, the ink cartridges appear to be priced similar to HP products. Have owned this printer for about two months and find that it scans and prints well. Would have given it a higher rating if I could have found how to print envelopes easier. There was no information in the information provided with the printer or that could be found through the website. Very frustrating! It actually does print envelopes quite well by use of the paper tray, but no information points you to the tray. A good flashlight and willingness to explore helped solve my issue.

It constantly shows up in "error" status, offline, or just doesn't work --all without me making any changes. Every feature I have tried to use has had some problem. When my first machine just totally stopped working within the warranty period, the company sent another one (not new, refurbished and it now works occasionally. I have never spent so much time waiting for a print job or a scan job to complete. Don't buy this machine!

All in all, I am very happy with my 2 new printers. I would recommend one improvement: to access the Fax I need a landline with a traditional phone plug. We are totally wireless. Wireless fax would be a big plus, or some way to connect to my cell phone. That would make this product outstanding.

Jump to COVID-19 and now I'm working from home and my husband got laid off and I was confronted with a need to make lots of copies and scan paperwork. I did some research, Consumer Reports and ratings from purchasers and chose this unit. It's also set up for Amazon auto replenishment for the ink! It's quiet and easy to use. Nice quality printing and I can now scan all incoming paperwork. What I really love, is that it cleans itself without any intervention by me! No more clogged jets!

Also, the instructions sound as if they are written in English by a non-tech writer so that they were easy to read and understand. It was a simple and easy set up. The scan feature works like a charm and has the option of creating short cuts for often-used procedures for scanning documents. My last printer was so complicated; this one is so easy to set up and use. My husband and I researched it before we bought it so we expected it to me a very good product, but we were very surprised at just how good it is.

I have had HP & Canon printers in the past, but have found the Brother printers are reliable and easy to use. My last printer lasted for many years and I only replaced it because the cleaner reservoir filled up and I figured it would be just as inexpensive to replace as to repair. I'm so glad I did. I don't do a lot of photo printing, but do use it to write checks and make out envelopes, so the individual feed tray in the back is so very handy. Plus, it is so much faster than the old printer. I'm very please with the larger paper tray and the fax speed (yes, I still fax on occasion). I highly recommend this printer for home use or for a small business.

I save tons of recipes on my phone with the intent of printing to put in my recipe book. The problem is I never print the recipes and am left with hundreds of bookmarks that are deleted. This little printer prints from my cellphone regardless of my location. The wireless print feature is easy to use on both the computer and by way of an app. Installing the printer was seamless. The longest wait time (five minutes was for the ink to prime. The printer is not too bulky to sit on my desktop and has a touchscreen display. Printing is definitely quieter and quicker than my older model. The print quality is very good. My only complaint is the tray to capture the papers could be a couple inches longer.

Copying, printing, image & OCR scanning all work beautifully.Only hitch so far, book pages have to be OCR scanned 1 at a time. Text of full 2-page spread (which the J430 did easily becomes intermingled. But the scanning is so fast it's not that big a hitch.

I needed a small printer for light home use, and this fit the bill, for a good price. The colors are not vibrant, so if color is important to you, I think a laser color printer is definitely better. The installation would have been easy, except that my new printer kept saying that the cyan and magenta ink cartridges were too low to use, which was weird because I had never used them before. I was not able to resolve this problem using the on-line information so I had to call the customer phone support. I timed my call, which took a total of 45 minutes (25 minutes on hold, 20 minutes being helped. The fellow who helped me was patient and knowledgeable. He was not able to solve the problem either, so he ordered replacement cartridges for me, which arrived in 2 -3 days. I had no problem with these cartridges and everything now works fine. I choose Brother because on Nextdoor dot com, several people said that Brother printers were solid. Also, I've had good experiences with brother products over the years (including a word processor back in the 80's).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice features It does everything that I could want. I love the ease of double side printing it saves so much paper, and you don’t have to do it yourself. The only problems are it doesn’t give the option to print a report after individual faxes. The shortest time period is 2 days. I like a confirmation after each fax to verify that it was received, it doesn’t have that option. The other thing is that the color isn’t vivid. My MFC-495 was great it was hard to tell the copy from the original. I don’t know if it’s the machine or the ink itself. Other than that it’s great for the price.

This printer is a solid workhorse for your basic home needs. Set-up: I found general set-up to be really easy (~5 minutes total, particularly with our wifi router. Printing from my phone was a breeze once set up - particularly in comparison to our older printer. Scanning took a little more work in navigating set up with out a CD drive on our home laptop, but manageable with the online instructions. The easier default is to just use your email address. But overall the touchscreen on the printer works well and is very intuitive. Quality: As for print quality, colors are nice and accurate in comparison to digital files. Crispness isn`t quite as nice as our prior printer, but not a huge issue considering it`s an inkjet printer.Speed: Wifi printing is incredibly simple - and quick! I am impressed with the on-demand wake up of the printer when using wireless printing. Our old one had quite a lag and sometimes required a manual wake up - certainly not the case with this one.

I have been disappointed in the sharpness of the print and images, and deficit of deep colors that I was used to in my old printer which was much less expensive, and lasted for five or more years with no reduction in printing and color images.

If you set the unit on a desk you have to crouch down until you get your eyes even with the unit to see the screen properly. This is probably not an issue with younger folks that have good eyes and small fingers.

The overall impression of this printer is very positive. It has a lot of great features that were very helpful such as the mobile printing and the cloud access from the machine. It has a nice paper capacity so I don`t have to refill the machine every few prints. The setup for the printer was quick and easy. It was minimal effort to install the ink cartridges and the quality of the print is perfect. The screen is color and easy to navigate. The printing speed is satisfactory for my needs. The copy and scan features worked well and quickly. I am able to scan/copy multiple documents at a time which is a breeze compared to my last printer that I had to individually feed one sheet at a time. This product exceeded my expectations, and the Bluetooth/NFC printing from my phone was so amazing. I have been missing out on this feature for years and I am glad I have finally caught up with technology! Greta printer

It prints in color very nicely. The product instructions were very clear and I was able to easily follow the instructions to put it together with no issues. The printer prints wirelessly from your device which is very convenient. However, I found that sometimes printing from my device would cause the printer to print really slow. I think this has to do with the speed of the internet connection at that moment. The only things I dislike about the printer are the occasional slow print and the paper tray. The paper tray is plastic and seems cheapy. You have to completely remove it from the printer to load paper. Other than those two things, the printer does a great job of printing and I love the wireless capabilities.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Decent Inkjet Printer I've only had the printer a few weeks, but all seems to be working fine. All the software loaded quickly with no problems (PC). I've tested every feature and they are working. It prints quickly in single page mode. Duplex mode is a tad slow, but I think I would have to go to a laser printer to get faster. The printer is lightweight and compact. I like the way the feeder tray blends with the top until you need it. There are a few things that I believe could be improved. 1. I'm used to an ink-saver mode simply reducing the the print density (e.g., 600 dpi to 300 dpi). This isn't the case for this printer. Print objects that seem to be encoded as an outline and a fill print the outline only in ink-saver mode instead of a less dark outline and fill. Color printing is terrible in ink-saver mode. You have to think too much about what you are printing in ink-saver mode to make it worth while. I've turned it off. 2. I'm used to the duplex feature recognizing when there is only one page to print and printing as fast as single page printing. This printer does not recognize single pages in duplex mode. Every page is printed as if there are actually two sides to print thus slowing down the printing. 3. You get a warning when you are completely out of paper. A low paper warning would be helpful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good desktop printer Pro - My primary reason for buying the MFC-J895DW is for a printer that could be used infrequently without the ink drying out and clogging the print heads between printings. I print 2-3 times a month but sometimes it is longer than a month between printing. Though it was hard to find out, the black ink is pigment and the 3 colors are dye inks. Pigment ink tends to dry out and clog print heads if not used frequently. Brother provides the perfect function for me. As long as the printer remains plugged in (does not even have to be turned on) it monitors the print heads and will periodically clean/refresh them automatically to keep them from clogging. So when I print after a month or two I don't have to waste ink unclogging print heads. Con - I wish the printer supported more paper types.

Upon opening the box to the Brother MFC-J895DW the printer was much larger than I was hoping for. That being said, it is replacing an older printer which was smaller but the dimensions of this printer are more square so it really did not take up any extra room so that is good. The setup process did take some time (close to an hour) but following the included instructions I had no problem. I easily (but not quickly) set up the printer driver on my laptop via the website and downloaded the app on my iPhone. I am easily able to print from both and the print quality is exceptional. I am very happy overall with this printer. For my home office I would prefer something smaller and more compact but this seems like it will last me a long time. I also like that it came with ink so I didnt have to worry about it for the setup.

Additionally, i could not get the blue tooth to work. This printer was easy to setyp and I especially like the ability to print from my phone or iPad.

I like its autonomous cleaning feature that keeps it ready to print the high quality photos it's capable of printing. Printer comes with the latest version of Nuance PaperPort scanning software. The Brother software includes a handy shortcut scanning option. Several weeks ago when I tried to print something, I got a paper jam error message. When I pulled the tray out, found that hundreds of tawny crazy ants had built a nest in the printer. Thought it was ruined, but once I cleaned it out, it operated just fine. I really like this machine.

I really love this brother printer. It was super easy setup, the instruction manual made it simple to follow the step by step instructions for setup and use. It`s so nice to be able to print from my iPhone, I`ve never been able to do this with my past home printers. Furthermore, the double sided printing made for less paper waste and is one of my favorite features!!! I now recommend this printer to all my family and friends.

The fax report including a partial image of the actual fax is very nice. I've used it in normal and quiet mode and don't find either overly noisy. So far, so good and I haven't found anything not to like with this printer. This printer adds to two other Brother printers I use as well as an older Brother fax machine. Over time, it's been good for me moving to Brother equipment over other brands (some better than others I've used over the years.

The EPSON just printed, The BROTHER will print, is a copier, is a fax machine, and a scanner. It takes a little while to get used to all that. Sometimes, there is a time lapse between the time I select "print"and the machine actually starts to print which is bothersome at times.

SETUP:Completing the initial setup was easy, as both the "Quick Start Guide" and prompts on the LCD touchscreen screen of the printer were easy to follow. This printer connected to Wifi with no issues. The ink cartridges it came with were easy to install. APPEARANCE: This printer looks nice and sleek. I appreciate that it is black instead of white or gray/tan like many other printers on the market. The top paper feeder folds away to give it a more compact appearance. The LCD touchscreen is large, bright, and flips out at an angle for easy viewing while you are standing and looking down on the printer. PROS: Has a small footprint for a machine with print/fax/copy/scan capabilities, which works well in my tiny workspace. My favorite thing about this printer is that is is compatible with my PC, but also uses AirPrint, so I can print quickly and easily from any of my devices. Paper moves easily through the machine without jamming. It can do dual-sided prints. CONS: The paper tray in the bottom is flimsy plastic and it is awkward to refill (you have to take the whole tray out to load more paper. Print quality is a bit lower than expected, so I would not use it for important professional documents, though it is fine for everyday tasks. This printer prints pages slower than other printers I have used.Overall, I would recommend this printer, especially for a small home office or small business. It gives you all the functionality of much and more expensive printers and at a low price point.

The Brother printer has worked great and given us no issues. Setup was easy, including adding it to our wireless network, so that it could be accessed by multiple devices. Printing has been clear in both black and white, as well as color. Changing cartridges is simple and they are reasonably priced. Overall, we are very happy with the performance of the MFC-J895DW and certainly recommend it.

I acquired this printer for home office use with occasional business-related activities. The size and weight are compact and manageable. I particularly appreciate that the power cord and phone cord for fax (if you plan to use it) are located on the side, and the paper tray is accessible from the front for regular paper and smaller sizes. Never fear, there is a manual paper feed in the back, for when the paper tray isn`t big enough or you need more manual control, but the vast majority of what I need is letter size or smaller. In the past, I have had machines that require cord access and any non-letter paper to feed from the back. I like to locate my printers as out of site as possible so these streamlined front/side features are really convenient! Another fun feature is the tiltability of the display screen so you don`t have to be at eye-level with the printer to read it easily.Setup was quick -- less than 20 minutes. The quick start guide is helpful. The printer comes with starter ink, so you just have to add paper! I was able to print wirelessly from my laptop and mobile device as soon as I connected the printer to my wifi network. The printer speed is fairly quick. The print quality is average - no complaints - it gets the job done! Photos even on their best setting aren`t pro-quality, but they are passable for basic home use. The printer can print 2-sided, which saves a lot of paper. It`s not the quietest machine and sounds a bit clunky, but it didn`t wake the sleeping baby or scare the dog!The wireless scanning is probably my favorite feature. You can scan to a variety of cloud-based document storage apps (like dropbox, evernote, google drive, etc.), or you can scan to an email from Brother to your email or another address. When setting up an email address for scanning, you also have the option to add a PIN, which is a nice security feature if you have multiple users or children who are always up to something. The scan quality is fine for most uses. The document feeder tray scanned slightly crooked, but in a completely adequate way for 99% of what I use it for. For the other 1% of the time when it matters, I can lay documents/photos right on the glass to avoid this problem.Overall, I am very satisfied with the capabilities of this machine and will not miss hunting for a flash drive every time I need to scan!

It is now connected and will print from word and excel documents but not pdfs. there is no chat room or phone assistance. the screen on the machine is very small and very poorly lit. Haven't printed much with it yet and will probablay return it.

A lot of use for a residential printer may be an understatement since my wife is a chronic greeting card maker. Our last Brother AIO printer lasted 4 years and we just purchased a new MFC-J895DW. One particular feature I like is that we can be away for a month or so, come in and it prints first time every time.

That the monitor was a bit larger, with larger print (for older eyes), and a tilt screen feature. 2. That after sending a fax, a send report would be automatically offered to select & print out, however It does have report print-outs available as a manual selection. The overall quality, function and clarity are all quite good, so we are pleased with this machine.

I especially like the ability to replace cartridges individually and as needed . . . instead of having to buy 3 colors together for example. You can also get larger capacity cartridges, nice for me because I typically use little color. 2-sided printing is a good feature and so far works well. Haven't used the printer a lot, but works well. Haven't tried any scanning so I can't comment on that.

It was on sale at the time, which made it less expensive than the ink refills for the broken printer it was replacing. Easy setup, works perfectly with my two laptops. Brother ink refills are way more reasonably priced for home use than some other brands.

I was replacing an HP Photo printer, which I loved, but I didn't love the small fortune I was spending for HP Ink cartridges. I decided on the Brother MFC-J895DW Printer, because of the features, price, and price of replacement ink cartridges. So far, it's been working great. I haven't printed any photos on it yet, so I can't comment on how well it does there, but for everything else (word documents, spreadsheets, from the internet it's been doing an excellent job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointing Bought this printer five weeks ago to replace my old HP printer that finally wore out. I bought this printer because of Consumer Report's ratings. My old printer had better print quality, especially for photos and was much simpler to use. I particularly don't like the paper tray as it seem like a "Rube Goldberg" contraption and is very flimsy and difficult to use (compared to my old printer). This printer will not scan items to my computer via the USB cable although a customer service rep said that it should but was unable to help me fix this issue. I was not pleased with Brother's customer services either when I tried several times to get help setting it up. My impression is this printer was designed for Windows and Android devices and Apple OSX was an afterthought.

I was pleasantly surprised with how easy it was to use this machine. The setup was easy, with clear instructions. The all-in-one works through my home wifi. I am able to print from my laptop and my daughter and I can print straight from our IPhones, because it`s on my home wireless network there`s no extra set up required. Because I deal with multi-page contracts for work, the document feed to scanner is important to me. It`s not necessary to scan pages individually. I was able to set it up to scan directly to my OneDrive account, using the touchscreen on the machine. That is the only cloud account I tried but there is Facebook and other Cloud accounts options. The printing is good quality, and can print on both sides of the paper, a nice feature. I did not try the fax feature as that is not something I normally need.

All good at this time Pros: Design, Display Screen, Easy to Use, Features, Performance, Quiet, value Great price easy setup Purchased for color and b&w sheet printing with occasional copy. I know it can scan, fax and photo print but I have a nice color photo printer and a good scanner for photo printing/scanning connected to my desktop. I don't use faxes. I also have a laser printer for large b&w printing jobs. So this was purchased for printing from our iphones, Fire tablets and Windows 10 tablets. Supplies are not inexpensive on this machine so it is going to be used as a small convenient way to print/copy a few pages. Working on all devices, Fire tablets were the most challenging to connect but I was successful in connecting. Working smoothly on all devices over my Wi-Fi Great purchase!

When I first received this printer I noted that is was very easy to set up. I like the way the paper tray is tucked in to the device and doesn`t stick out, which was my main complaint about my last printer. When I turned on the printer it led me through the steps to get everything installed. Loading the ink cartridges was incredibly easy as there was only one way they fit in. I was really happy that there was a clear way to install the printer without using the CD port, my last printer did not have that option and my computer doesn`t have a CD drive so that was important to me. It took around 20 minutes to get everything set up. The quality of the pages is great and printing does not take long at all. The copies I made were clear and the scanning function worked like a charm. I have only ever used one brand of printer before this and the Brother printer was very comparable to what I had been using before, but less expensive. I would definitely recommend this system.

One of my favorite features of this printer is how quiet it is! I have often had to go ask if something has printed because it`s made virtually no noise like other printers. The ink quality is fabulous though it did need to be adjusted when the ink cartridges were first installed, but I think that`s pretty normal with most printers. For all the functions that this printer does, the size is actually quite small. Where my previous printer had to be turned at an awkward angle to fit on the desk, this fits perfect. I highly recommend this printer.

My Brother MFC-J895DW wireless multi-function printer is, by far, the best printer I've ever had, especially for an inexpensive printer. It operates flawlessly, was easy to set up, and the software was easy to download and install. I didn't expect features like double-sided printing, auto document feed, auto feed of envelopes, with a low-priced printer. I would buy this printer again in a heartbeat.

This is a great at home printer that produces quality pages at a quick speed. Once connected to Wi-Fi I was able to easily print from my laptop or cell phone. There is a cloud functionality that I haven`t spent a lot of time exploring, but I imagine this will be a time saving option for me in the future. The only thing I wish was that it had unassisted double sided printing, but that`s not a deal breaker for me. I`d definitely recommend this product for anyone looking for a plug n play, user friendly printer.

This makes it much more convenient to place the printer where it is accessible, but yet not taking up all the available space which can be used for other equipment. The set up is simple to accomplish by following the step by step guidance. Once set up I had no difficulty printing wireless from other computers after installing the software. The PC used for set up does not need to be turned on for use by other PCs. The ink cartridge installation is simple and compact as well. Simple design and set up. Great choice for printing needs.

I do wish the paper tray held more paper and that you didn't have to pull out the catch tray along with the paper tray in order to fill it. Would be great to separarte those two.

It wasn't difficult to connect it wirelessly with two computers in our house, one on the desk right next to it and the other one downstairs, one a PC and the other a Mac. It is noisy. We don't yet know how much ink it uses because we've had it less than a month.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good All-In-One I am enjoying my All In One printer with only a few exceptions: 1 the paper tray is not easy to pull out 2) the paper slides all the way back since there is no guard. 3) dealing with paper jams is not an easy task with the internal green tabs to manipulate. 4) the printer heads require frequent cleaning I do enjoy the speed at which I am able to make copies. Maybe I can add more as I learn and utilize other features.

The only thing I found I don't like is a heavy bond paper, I don't know what thickness it's called, won't print on both sides. If I want the heavy bond paper to print on the back, I must take it out and replace it in the paper basket with the printed side up.

Still can't get it to scan from scanner to printer without opening the iPrint app. Would be nice to just press the scan button on the machine. Printing is decent but machine does seem quite noisy. Have used it for scanning old pictures and the results were very good. Irritating that when using the ADF to copy the the pages I was copied must be face down. Opposite of my Brother laser printer.

Ive only been able to print maybe 10 total over its lifespan. other colors continue to get used up despite only printing in B/W. Print quality is absolutely terrible. I cannot be more displeased with my purchase. I wanted a simple machine that would perform a simple task and this one somehow fails to deliver on any of them. I don't even print all that often! Maybe a couple times a month, and yet that is still too much to ask.

Connected to WIFI and it seemed to work well. In early June I needed to print something quickly and Brother gave me error message w/no solution. Going to queue and troubleshooter didn't help. I'm still unable to print and have returned to 2017 HP.

Connectivity issues still remain 6 months later. Every week or so a print job fails and I have to clear print jobs on computer and eboot printer to get things working again.

With one exception (installing the print cartridges the setup instructions were clear, and everything from opening the box to printing my first docs went smoothly. The printer works perfectly, and because I signed up for ink cartridge support, Brother is supposed to send me replacement cartridges when they're needed, but I haven't reached that point yet.

For how fast it is a printing, unfortunately it is just as slow at copying images. It is also interesting in the number of ways you can paper, envelopes, etc.: One at a time via the back of the printer; one or many at a time via the top of the printer; or via the main paper tray underneath the printer. Scanning works well and produces very true images. Similarly for faxing.

There was only 6 gm of ink in the color cartridges and 9 gm of ink in the black cartridge. My 8610 had 27 gm for color Cartridges and 70 gm in the black cartridge.

I started putting in more paper and that problem seems to be resolved. However, it will not let me print when I am low or out of color cartridge print when all I need is black print and I have lots of it.. So I have to buy color print when I really don't need it. This really annoys me.

But Epson went to tank ink and I do not print continuously and was afraid of the ink drying out. Also the Epson products did not have great reviews anymore. So I gave Brother printers a try. The MFC-J895MD has not disappointed me. I use the printer for general printing but mainly to print my photos. I like the individual cartridges and they perform well. They are not as expensive as the Epsons, another plus.

Excellent quality of print at a really affordable print/page cost, but really reliable. Has added a level of flexibility that our previous printer didn’t have to offer. However, recently the price for their ink doubled so I found an alternative. I was using the alternative for several months until a firmware upgrade it made me complete and now all off brand cartridges now show as an error and you can only use the ink Brother provides. Well Brother…you now have lost a loyal customer and I will do my best to spread the word to other hard working Americans who need every dollar we earned. I hope your sales decline steadily!

Pics come out good, not great but then it's not a photo printer. I only give this 4 stars because it's my 3rd machine in 1yr! The 1st worked great for like 10 months then gave me an error code (cannot print 50 that after several hrs of online searching for resolution I had to use an "Ask a service question" app to get it taken care out. That worked for another 3-4 months before it happened again! I must say customer service was great about it and was finally able to get me a refurbished replacement in a wk. I couldn't buy the same machine anywhere faster during a pandemic. Unfortunately the replacement machine only lasted 1-2 months before I get the same error code again! This time customer service got me a new replacement within 2-3 days. It's been about 3 wks now and so far so good! It may be I work it too hard working from home, I do print alot... I'm hoping that when I go back to the office later this month and I won't be printing as much at home this 3rd machine will last longer. We'll see!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple to work The printer is simple to use, and does what it is supposed to. Besides printing, I have had no trouble scanning documents, which appear as PDFs on my computer. The machine also self cleaned its heads once, a feature I was unaware of. I leave the power on, and it is connected to the internet, so it does startle me occasionally by printing out a digital message on its screen such as "You can print out Mother's Day cards!"

Like it so much, don't care about ink replacement. Already recommended MFC-J895DW to friends and relatives, and they all know I'm old, set in my ways, and picky, picky, picky.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stays connected! I bought this as a work from home printer a few months back, it has been consistently reliable; it prints quickly and relatively quietly. This Brother has been a dream in that I never have to do anything to it. My wife and kids all connected to it seamlessly and it has never lost a print job or gotten stuck in a print spooling error. I had one hiccup about a month ago when it couldn't be reached from the laptops, but a quick reboot of the router fixed the problem. Other wireless printers I have used at work and home (looking at all of you, HP) required troubleshooting on about one out of three print jobs!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Printer Functions vs. Ink Price and Lifespan My printer is 2 months old. I have used the print, scan and copy function. Very useful. I purchased the LC3013 ink by Brother. Printing only black -magenta, cyan, yellow not printing. Did a purge and 3 nozzle clean ops. Printing ok after that BUT ink levels on colors dropped below to a 1/3 level-almost empty! Price for the LC3013 carts are expensive, now the 3 colors were sucked up with exclamation marks on 2 of them. Extremely disappointed at the ink usage. Tech folks were contacted, good people but I still need to know why so much ink was used.

This is my second Brother Printer; the first printer, which I purchased for a little less than my new printer, lasted for 8 years!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good so far I have not had any problems with my printer so far. I’ve printed a number of small documents and used the scanner several times with no,issues. When using the feeder you do have to make sure the input paper is fully engaged. And, I wish it was a little easier to add fresh paper. But, these are really small issues. Overall I am happy with this printer and would purchase it again. Set up and connection was easy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Print Quality and scanning is great This printer's print quality is very good but the printer seems to have a flimsy paper tray that is difficult to open on a flat surface with the paper catcher open. It almost requires shutting the paper catcher in order to pull open the paper tray. Our biggest complaint is the size of the cartridges. We have to replace them once every week or two. Our old HP had larger (more ink capacity and lasted much longer. We would like a paper tray with greater capacity too. Again the print quality is very good and the scanning is very good. We are looking for a replacement printer now after 4 months of use.

If I use aftermarket ink from Amazon, their operational costs diminish as well. But they’re hit/miss in the wireless connectivity area, and when they jam, a lot of the time the only recourse is to send them somewhere — on my dime. So, I bought this Brother printer — my first ever. WOW. A printer that stays connected to all of my wireless devices, notifies me of low ink conditions, prints with beautiful quality, and has a far smaller footprint than my previous printers. I LOVE MY BROTHER PRINTER. You’ve won me over, Brother!

After the first month I did have an issue with losing it's network communication although it still showed as connected at both ends. This required going through the initial set up all over again. That's an irritant, but if it only happens once I can live with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Overall Performance This Brother MFC-J895DW is the best printer I have owned. I like its appearance, size, and weight, and fits nicely on my desk. The wi-fi connectivity to both of my PCs is excellent---no issues with that. Installation and setup was easy to follow and worked perfectly. I use this printer mainly for scanning and printing and have no issues with either of those functions. Photo printing quality may be not quite as good as from some other printers, but for my purposes (business oriented it is perfectly fine. I have not tried the FAX performance yet, but I suspect it will work just as well as the other functions. Print cartridge ink seems to last reasonably well, and the cartridge cost seems acceptable. Overall, the value I get for this printer for its price is excellent.

I routinely make projects using various weight paper, which are impossible to do on other printers. I also like the fact that the printer is small and compact as opposed to newer printers with refillable tanks that occupy too much desk space.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice features except one. Nice sized printer. Purchased on sale. Copies 2 sided and prints 2 sided. Connects to PC using USB cable and/or using WIFI. I have both setup and switch between them. Ink use seems average. Good for ordinary use not for office use. Petty easy to use. Scan quality is poorer than my previous more expensive HP printer. I did expect lower quality scanning.
