My wife uses them on lamp and appliance cords. They are long enough to hold large rolls of cable together, and the Velcro allows you to tie and untie as much as your want.

I got a new hair dryer recently that had a plastic do-hickey meant to hold the cord, but after struggling with it for a week, I knew it was time to order more cable ties. (They make great cat toys too!)

The quality construction, design and ease of use are all trademarks of the Case Logic product, which I have come to expect. I prefer the Self Attaching Cable Ties over any other product I've seen or used. I use them primarily for loose electronic A/V cables. I wish there was a product like this for my other loose odds and ends! The only issue I have is the cost for a quantity of 6 per pack. It would be preferred if they were sold in bulk (and perhaps by one solid color per package - i.e. all red or all black, all purple, etc.). Otherwise, the Self Attaching Cable Tie is an excellent staple product for Case Logic to continue to sell.
