The Cisco 1921 builds on the best-in-class. All Cisco 1900 Series Integrated Services Routers offer embedded hardware encryption acceleration, and advanced security services. In addition, the platforms support the industry's widest range of wired and wireless connectivity options such as Serial, T1/E1, xDSL, Gigabit Ethernet, and third-generation (3G) wireless.

The Cisco 1921 is architected to meet the application demands of today's branch offices with design flexibility for future applications.

The Cisco 1921 provides significantly enhanced modular capabilities that offer you investment protection. You can easily interchange modules used on the Cisco 1921 with other Cisco routers to provide maximum investment protection. Taking advantage of common interface cards across a network greatly reduces the complexity of managing inventory requirements, implementing large network rollouts, and maintaining configurations across a variety of branch-office sizes.

Cisco 1921 Series Integrated Services Rack Mountable Router is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unlike the legacy fixed IOS, it has a modular IOS form. However, it's expensive and needs to be made more affordable for SMEs. Valuable Features:It's got fantastic throughput which meets most of the network Gbps/Tbps data throughput in Next-Generation Networks (NGN) that are in use in today's industry.Improvements to My Organization:* Higher switching capacity* Feature-rich for almost all requirements* Modular IOS form, unlike the legacy fixed IOS which is prone to single point of crash for all services and features on it.Room for Improvement:Cost is very expensive, it needs to be reviewed for affordability by SMEs. They are on the high side for some SMEs who are willing todeploy high standard IT solution powered by Cisco but most of the time, they are not able to afford Cisco SME products.Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's easy to deploy if you know what you are doing, but if you want to improve, you have to upgrade the hardware. Valuable Features:SIP and MGCP - the router is a voice gateway router which terminates all calls to and from the PSTN.Improvements to My Organization:Automatic calls routing depending on certain conditions such as dialled digits and received calls. We can automatically select which telecom provider to use for certain calls.Room for Improvement:Nothing that I can think of. If you want to improve, you have the choice to upgrade the hardware.Use of Solution:I've used it for four years.Deployment Issues:No issues encountered.Stability Issues:It's been very stable since deployment.Scalability Issues:No scalability issues.Customer Service:Excellent customer service.Technical Support:I never had an issue yet with this product which required TAC intervention but from my previous experience Cisco TAC support is the best.Previous Solutions:We were using the old Telco PABX and had to switch over to VoIP because it was irrelevant and incompatible.Initial Setup:It's easy to deploy if you know what you are doing, and have a proper migration plan.Implementation Team:It was an in-house deployment.ROI:It's high.Cost and Licensing Advice:It's worth the price you pay.Other Advice:It's best for branch office deployment.Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great router for the cost I would give 5 stars for design but i prefer these devices be a full 19 inch to mount properly into a network rack. Also speaking of rack mounting the brackets are not included with this router. Other Cisco ISR routers have those include, so just be aware that is an extra $70 item if rack mounting is desired. As for capabilities and reliability these routers have been great would definitely recommend them. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Router I am using this for my high speed internet from Verizon, 500 mbit/s download, 100 mbit/s upload. The router was straight forward to configure and my vpn (site-to-site and remote access) and internet speed is blazing fast now.Great product with 2 X gbit/s ports. The router comes with many capabilities which I am not using yet. Excellent price for all the features it comes with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the first stopping off point when you want Gigabit routing. Two GbE ports and plenty of expandability make the 1921 worth looking at if your external connectivity is something like Fibre. The downside if that you do not have the option of extra interfaces standard so you need to add another gigabit interface to do so which is expensive.I personally run one of these at home, and it is part of my Cisco Lab.
