Rated 5 out of 5 by from Completely frustrating re: connectivity I bought this a few weeks ago to replace a similar one that failed to function because of not connecting. This one doesn't either. It did once, and then does not, the application twirls and stalls

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good piece of gear This thing doesn't look like it should work so well. It is fast, reliable and accurate. It is very easy to use and comes with understandable software. I have no idea what bigger more expensive units offer that this does not. I recommend it highly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epson DS320 Setup instructions were not very good, but I found my way around them. Used Windows 10 software. Very quick scan, clean easy to use. Hope to get a lot of use out of this device. Also like the fact that it is small.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great at first using with a Mac. works sometimes, others just opens and doesn't respond, or says it has a poor connection. Sad, because when it works, it's great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Business Trip Use Just bought this and used it on a business trip with my XCarbon Thinkpad and File Center software and it worked like a dream. Went through stacks of case files without an error and quite fast. While a bit heavy I would still highly recommend this small scanner. At home I continue to use it for small jobs to supplement my larger capacity units.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from When it works it works well I purchased this to help with client information. It works well, and will say it has a paper jam, and will continue to state that until i have to unplug and reset. This is not good for workflow. As for convenience it fits in my bag for clinic days out of town

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Prints a page sometimes then quits Constant battle with printer, Have been able to print out two pages in last month. Had a computer expert out and he connected everything, we have connected it, family members have connected it, will print a page, the next time it is set at “pause” and can not undo. Need to print an IRS paper and a medical paper out and does not work, we have replaced ink…..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact Scanner It folds up small and is easy to hide away or take with you, if needed. Set up was easy. Works great, so far. My only issue is that the cord to connect to the computer is SUPER short. I need to order another cord because I am using this scanner at work with a desk top computer, not a laptop. Since it has to connect to the computer, it is under my desk and I am not able to put it on my desk because the cord doesn't reach.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big downgrade from ES-300W. ES-400 is MUCH better than both. I had the ES-300W for 3 years until it died after very minimal and gentle use. It still looks brand new in every respect. (which is also lame and made me not want to use Epson again). But they gave me a bit of a discount and still seem to be the best show in town so I'm giving them another try. I got the DS-320 because it seemed to be identical to the ES-300 except for features I didn't need. However, it was MUCH slower. Probably 4x slower. AND, it failed to load paper effectively from the very first try--pulling in multiple sheets, jamming, etc. That's basically what completely broke my ES-300 as well. I realized that the paper feeding mechanism on these little guys is just kind of pathetic. It doesn't work well from the beginning and, at least in my case, doesn't last very long. I guessed that the feeding on the bigger 400 series was totally different and better so I returned the DS-320 and got that one. Fortunately it was on sale so the price was comparable, but even if it cost more, what's the point in saving some money if the device just doesn't work or you have to fiddle with it all the time. But so far the ES-400 is really working well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed! Great little scanner, just cannot figure out how to make the default black and white and not grey scale. I would like to scan the same way each time and not have to even select a scan setting. When it opens it says Scan settings-Not selected, and it is set to grey scale.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from like most featurs I wish Epson would have some step by step tutorials for usage calling support is not very helpful all they do is refer to settings. I would like to see usage and tutorials & videos for all the included software

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Consistently jams Although size and compactness is nice, it does have problems with jamming. It is extremely sensitive when trying to scan a card. You can only use the front loader (not top) for cards, so when it jams or doesn't want to work, it is difficult to clear the error and continue use. Will be looking for a more user friendly and reliable machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 5-star hardware; 2-star software I cannot believe PORTABLE SCANNERS CANNOT SCAN DIRECTLY TO CLOUD. Epson WF printers have done this for decades with Epson Connect…so why not portable scanners??? With an EpsonConnect.com-enabled scanner just choose your configured folder in your cloud storage, press scan and your file appears in your cloud storage folder seconds later. If they had a default preset they could eliminate this step… just press scan and look in your cloud storage. Also, cannot believe no phone OS connectivity.
