Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not what I wanted and pricey too I tried (several times) to order the 78 XL cartridge which produces around 1500 prints for about $80. The HP ordering system kept giving me an error message. I called HP but the customer service was no help. I was forced to but the regular 78 cartridge which only makes about 500 copies for over $50. No one at HP could tell me whether the 78XL would be back in stock in a week or whether HP had discontinued that cartridge. The ordering system gave no info.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I purchased my HP Photo Smart 1000 in 2000 and it is finally beginning to show it age. I can't tell you how great this printer was. As an artist I take photos to paint from and I always got super prints to work from. However this year it is not printing as well and the cartridges have to be cleaned before it will print in full color. : ( Since it is hooked to my 2000 computer I am stuck as the newer printers aren't comparable with the older PC, As a retired widowed housewife newer equipment is not in my future. the HP cartridge is still the best, Just wish my old printer wasn't giving up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cyan - dry within a day The cartridge works ok, and indicates there is ink, however, since day one, the cyan appears dry. I do a "clean the print cartridge" test on the printer and it slowly brings the cyan back to life but requires several runs to do so. (read - "wastes alot of the cartridge life"). A day later, once again, the cyan is not working, and requires the "clean the print cartridge". Very disappointing to spend so much and know I am wasting a large share of the ink on this process. The printer has been a workhorse for many years, and I love it. The toner however (at least this one) has been a true pain that causes me to question whether I would buy another HP Printer

Did delay setting it up. Once that was taken care of, the computer worked very well.

When we needed the last one just before Christmas card printing, the new one was dry! Called HP to order a new one but was disappointed that no adjustment was made for the dried out cartridge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Produces excellent color prints Using this cartridge in my Deskjet 932c printer produces excellent 8x10 color prints on HP premium photo paper, eminently suitable for matting, framing and display. Someday I may have to replace the 932c due to old age, but until then it's my first choice for printing my photos of the Rocky Mountain West's Visionary Enchantment and of Nature's Majesty. Early on I made the mistake of trying a generic ink cartridge and it sprayed the inside of the printer housing with an aqua-ish hue. That unwanted paint job is a constant reminder to stick with genuine HP cartridges, even though they're too pricey.

People try to get us to upgrade but why should we? It works and I've printed beautiful color photos. We'll use it til it dies and hope that won't happen for a long time.

My frustration is with the HP78 color ink cartridges. It seems to be hit and miss whether or not they will work. I order from HP thinking it is safer, but the recent one I bought is terribly flawed. When I spend almost $40 I need it to work. No colors print correctly and with the test sheet print out, I should see red, yellow, and blue. Not there. Instead of receiving a negative review from me, how about sending me a new cartridge that I really need? At that point I will return this one. I would really appreciate it.
