I can always count on HP ink cartridges and am pleased with their prompt response when I order direct from HP. I ,however, am having problems with printhead alignment. I purchased new print heads from HP and am unable to get them in alignment! I have tried all of HP’s suggestions for alignment but nothing seems to help. I am not sure but I think the new print heads are defective. I am not sure what I should do. I shipped the old print heads to HP before I installed the new ones. I did not expect to have any problems with the new print heads. The old print heads were working but were quite old and I thought would avoid any problems by replacing them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just perfect, as usual I don't buy off brand or refilled ink, why take a chance on gumming up my printer, I really like this printer. (8500P) The convenience of just ordering when the printer tells me to is definitely a plus. I then have the cartridge on hand when the printer quits due to lack of ink. I do wish it would let me print in B &W when it is out of a color though.

I thought at first it was the printheads, so I purchased the Cyan and Magenta printhead. Now all except black, is empty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ridiculously expensive All the HP inks are very expensive and it's cheaper to have an outside operation do the job, then do it yourself. I don't believe the cartridge is empty when it says it is, and the HP printer I use turns off if any of the 4 cartridges are empty. It stops stops working, can't even print B&W.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Bang for the Buck I use many of these 4 colors as I do volunteer work for a land trust non-profit, and pay for my own supplies. A TIP: When it says that the ink is getting low- and to replace, I remove the cartridge and shake it a few times and then replace it, and can get up to two weeks more usage from each one. Cyan seems to be the one color which runs out first for me I have never had any problem with any of these ink cartridges. I swear by HP...Great products!.This printer makes great color photo's as well- always consistent color .Printing is always crisp. The unit is not complicated to use. I also own an HP-Laser Jet P1006. As the printing gets lighter I remove the toner container, and shake it from side to side, and replace it in the unit, and get about 2-3 more weeks from that cartridge also before it really needs replacing. Both of these printers have seen several years of daily usage, with no problems thus far. In my estimation I paid a decent price for each unit and received great products!

However, ink prices have always been very expensive but, for the OfficeJet 8500A, the cost is outrageous. I am tempted to try refills but I fear problems may occur so I have not. Snice the Ink Prices are all the Same from just about anyplace one can buy it from, and I have a HP Printer, I have tryed to use only HP Brand, as is made to work with my printer. Years ago, I did try other brands and had many issues with them. So have stayed with HP ever since. And I get the Next Day Shipping Also.

The cost was comparable to what you would pay for a genuine OEM cartridge elsewhere. Also, the cartridge came in unopened OEM packaging with a good expiration date. I haven't put this cartridge in my printer yet; but my current cyan ink level is very low.
