IBM Rational Functional Tester is IBM’s solution for automated testing of Java, Web-based, VS.NET Windows Forms, Base Win32, 3270 and 5250 applications on Microsoft Windows and Linux platforms. Rational Functional Tester also supports automating the management of manual testing.

Rational Functional Tester leverages the power of Java or VB.NET as a scripting language for building and extending test scripts, and allows you to set sensitivity levels on object recognition, making test scripts more resilient to application changes. Rational Functional Tester can be used as a stand-alone tool, to record, playback and analyze the result of tests, or it can be used in conjunction with Rational TestManager for enhanced test execution capabilities and results logging. Rational Functional Tester Extension for Terminal-Based Applications enables Functional Tester to be applied to testing of 3270 and 5250 terminal-based applications for an additional cost. Rational Functional Tester also includes Rational Manual Tester.
