McAfee Next Generation Firewall powered by Stonesoft is an integral part of the security connected platform from McAfee. McAfee Next Generation Firewall complements McAfee endpoint and network edge solutions with a high-performance, advanced next-generation firewall (NGFW) solution that is versatile and modular. It adds control, visibility, and protection - including advanced anti-evasion techniques - where you need it most, including remote sites and branches, data centers, and the network edge.

Most legacy firewalls force enterprises to choose between critical features and then bolt on the security components as separate, individually managed boxes. Some NGFWs offer impressive features without the performance and availability required for reliable protection and control during demanding operations.

McAfee Next Generation Firewall has been built from the ground up to deliver application control, intrusion prevention system (IPS), and virtual private network (VPN) functionality - as well as innovative evasion prevention capabilities in an efficient and extensible, highly scalable design.

Offering more than just deep packet inspection, McAfee Next Generation Firewall includes powerful anti-evasion technologies that decode and normalize network traffic for inspection on all protocol layers, making traffic evasion-free and exploits detectable. Vulnerability-based fingerprints block exploits in the normalized data stream.

McAfee Next Generation Firewall 1065-C1 - security appliance - Associate is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from The HA cluster had issues during deployment, but the solution gives us better application control than with our previous solution. Valuable Features:Apprism is valuable.Improvements to My Organization:It has given us better application control.Room for Improvement:It's not user friendly in terms of administration, and it doesn't support SSL VPN.Use of Solution:I've been using it for three years.Deployment Issues:There were issues with the HA cluster.Stability Issues:HA failover is not stable.Scalability Issues:So far we haven't had any issues.Customer Service:5/10.Technical Support:4/10.Previous Solutions:McAfee came from Sidewinder, and Sidewinder didn't have much issues in terms of cluster.Initial Setup:It's straightforward, no different than other technology.Implementation Team:We did it in-house.Other Solutions Considered:We also looked at an option from CheckPoint.Other Advice:HA should be more stable, as most customers are concerned with HA failover - how fast and how stable it is.Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's not so complicated to set up but the hard drive has some issues. Valuable Features:* High availability is very consistent* Good firewalling* StabilityImprovements to My Organization:Before the installation of the firewall, the network was divided into less zones and the administration was more difficult to manage.Room for Improvement:The hardware needs improving as we had a lot of problems with the hard drive reliability, both with the firewall and the intrusion protection system.Use of Solution:I've used it for three years.Deployment Issues:None in particular.Stability Issues:Nothing except for a few hard drive fails.Scalability Issues:We did need to scale.Customer Service:8/10 when they needed to help us.Technical Support:7/10.Previous Solutions:Previously the solution was Netasq. The new architecture and the product was chosen by the customer.Initial Setup:Not so complicated. You just need to understand the solution with an external management console instead of an HTTP one.Implementation Team:We implemented it in-house with the support of the internal IT team.Other Solutions Considered:Palo Alto but it was more expensive.Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:We are a reseller.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from We previously used Clavister and Astaro. StoneGate is easy to administer and use. Valuable Features:The Management Interface (also called SMC).Improvements to My Organization:It's easy to administer and easy to deploy.Room for Improvement:It could be better overall.Use of Solution:I've used it for two years,Deployment Issues:No issues encountered.Stability Issues:No issues encountered.Scalability Issues:No issues encountered.Customer Service:Good.Technical Support:Good.Previous Solutions:We previously used Clavister and Astaro.Initial Setup:Very straightforward.Implementation Team:Both. We have two clusters. The first one was implemented with the help of Stoneoft and the second one by ourselves.Other Solutions Considered:Many, the list is long, but we went to Gartner Magic Quadrant and took the best from there.Other Advice:Look for a partner in your area, we still have issues with finding one.Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.
