With SnapDrive software from NetApp, you can reduce the cost and complexity of managing storage for your company by enabling flexible and efficient utilization of storage resources to improve data and application availability. SnapDrive tightly integrates with your native file system and provides a layer of abstraction between application data and physical storage associated with that data.

By complementing native disk and volume management with virtualization capabilities, SnapDrive allows you to create virtual disks from pools of storage that can then be distributed among several storage appliances. This server-based virtualization optimizes your storage utilization and lets you respond to rapidly changing storage needs. Storage managed by SnapDrive logically appears to come from a locally attached storage subsystem. In reality, the capacity comes from a centrally managed pool of networked storage with enhanced attributes.

SnapDrive integrates Snapshot technology to give you near-instantaneous point-in-time images of application and user data. These point-in-time images require minimal disk space and cause minimal or no disruption to service. SnapDrive also gives you access to Snapshot copies by mounting them as virtual disks. You can use these virtual disks for routine administrative tasks such as online backup, testing of new applications, or population of data marts with limited or no downtime to your business-critical information. You can restore data in seconds when you use the SnapRestore software with SnapDrive.

Simplify and automate storage and data management in Microsoft Windows environments. Automate storage-provisioning tasks and simplify the process of taking error-free, host-consistent Snapshot copies of data.

Your administrators use a wizard-based approach to map, manage, and migrate data between new and existing storage resources. Add more storage as needed to your physical and virtual environments and eliminate the need to preallocate storage resources based on forecasted demand.

Run SnapDrive on your Windows-based hosts in either a physical or virtual environment and integrate it with your Microsoft Cluster Server and Windows failover clustering. Get error-free application-storage provisioning, consistent Snapshot copies, rapid application recovery, and simplified data management.
