Rated 5 out of 5 by from Could Be Great - Missed the mark When it works its great. A little slow but the biggest issue is getting it to connect. This should be way easier. Cannot connect easily to new WIFI or hotspots. Bought to print tame tags at events and we cannot get it to easily connect at different locations even though we are using the same laptop with P-Touch installed and the printer is connected to the laptop. This machine is not user friendly at all!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's alright cassettes are very expensive The cassettes are extremely expensive and I can get maybe 10 orders out before the cassette states that it is empty you guys should lower the price or add more paper to the cassettes overall the number of designs on the app is great we should be able to change the color to all the backgrounds not just some the app needs more fonts the printer should be able to connect to all computers tablets and or phones and you all should make the app more user friendly

I finally called customer service the next day and wasted hours of my time. They could not figure out why it did not connect to my laptop. Awful product. I send the product back. Please be aware DO NOT purchase this product. Waste of Time.

I thought this would be the perfect printer for making small labels for my products since I need to put specific ingredients on there and make many custom blends. The text was not readable! I thought the whole point of a small label printer was to make small labels. I had to keep increasing the size of the text until it was readable and this just made it too big to fit what I needed to fit. The smallest font I could do was 4pt bold text like arie. Yes that is a small font but considering that the smallest label width is 9mm it should be able to handle 4pt font that isn't bold and thick. Thin fonts don't print well even at 12pt sometimes 15pt depending on the font. Very disappointing, I had to change all of my label designs. Set up is a pain, and I had issues loading one of the cartridges but not any other sizes. The app for label making is very bad.. you're better off making it in another program and uploading the image. I couldn't use the desktop version of the program because I don't have a cd drive for my mac laptop. I wasn't even able to pair the device to two different devices.The labels don't stick well to glass and get ruined and discolored if any alcohol gets on them. Not sure if they are advertised as being resistant to that but you can't really use it on a label for a body splash or anything like that. I haven't tested it with just water or just oil yet. I can still use the printer and I don't have many other options in this price range, but the paper is very expensive which would be fine if it printed the text how I want it. It's just frustrating that a label maker specifically made to make small labels can print small text clearly.

Not enough on labels I am the owner of the TexasBeardsman.com, and this is a perfect option if you are looking into getting mock-ups of your product idea. However, they fall short when it comes to label sizes. I needed a 1.5 inch label width so that I can place it on a 30ml bottles. Also if you are thinking about placing your logo with no background, that will not work. Thier software always adds a white background so that is a huge bummer. And last, since there is no ink in this system the colors are not true colors too. Overall, it will be more cost effective to purchase professional labels, but atleast this printer will give you some kinda of idea how a finished product will look.

Set up with android app is Horrible, spent hours trying to sync the two together, no luck.. and tech support was no help either. Sending it all back, the setup nightmare scared me enough to send back to Brother

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for my needs Needed colorful labels for kids, and I was attracted to the no-ink technology. It does the job: set-up with the WiFi was not as easy as I wish it would be, but I got through. The app (which I use interchangeably on a phone or tablet is pretty easy to use once you understand how it works. I was able to download different art packs which was really good and helped made creative and colorful labels. Cons: cartridges are expensive and run through fast: I thought it was great not having to buy ink cartridges, but these are as expensive if not more and don’t last. Also, it’s best to use the 2inch cartridges, the 1 inch is very small. All in all, this little machine does what I need it to and while it’s rather expensive (machine and cartridges), the cost is justified to me.

The labels are great but two things I noticed I am not completely satisfied on: 1. Frames - either the label is off or the printing is... when I do a full frame that should bleed to the edges - the top is cropped a bit and the bottom has white trim. Wish there was a way to adjust frames because I was really excited to use the frames included in the app. 2. Color - Color is more vibrant on the app then on the label - using either Vivid or Standard mode. A true purple color printed magenta and a true pink background printed like a peachy pink color. Also where I tested using a frame - the start of the printing on the right edge looked faded than the rest.

I was looking forward to using this--till I got it.... does print great but brother does NOT provide a computer based software that is up to date for use with this and their support will not help you at all and simply tells you to use the mobile app. I DO NOT want to use mobile app, I want to use the computer.

I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion. I often complete projects to aid in keeping me organized. The printer allowed me to create and print fun, artistic labels to give my projects personality. ASSEMBLY: I was able to assemble the printer with few challenges. I did encounter a challenge inserting the labels. Also, I found the printer to print more test labels than needed. SIZE: The printer is the perfect size requiring little space. I was able to place it on my desk without feeling like my desk was clutter. .PROBLEMS: I only encountered a problem when connecting to WIFI. The instructions were a bit confusing as to how to connect to my WIFI versus adding the printer to my WIFI connection. Once I figured out I had not connected the printer to my personal WIFI, printing was a breeze.

I was excited to try this product due to the fact my old label maker was just plain outdated. The instruction were very clear and precise I was able to assemble it correctly the first time, which is very rare for me. To my old label maker it`s much fast in printing out the labels, I can choose a couple of different sizes instead of just forced to use on size, which is my favorite feature. The labels are more professional looking with a glossy finish and I`m able to print in color if I choose.This product definitely meets my standard in a label maker; the only thing I had problem is it wasn`t letting me if the cartridges was locked in, and if it wasn`t it wouldn`t let me print, but I would prefer if it gives me a sign to let me know when it is correctly locked in.

I was surprised and pleased to see how compact the printer is, and that it takes up very little space. It was very easy to set up, and directions are provided. All I needed to do is plug in, add the included ink cartridge, and download the app. Once the app was downloaded, I launched the app and followed the directions to set up the wifi connection, and start printing. The whole thing took about 7 minutes to complete after I opened the box.I like that there are so many options to use when printing labels. So many of the older label printers only allow black ink and just typed words. With this printer and app, you can add frames, backgrounds, photos, color, and clip art. I printed some photos to use as stickers, some plain labels, and some decorative labels to use in other projects. There is one thing I wish this printer had. I wish it contained a built in slicer to cut the label after it`s finished printing. I assumed it had one, and kept pulling the label, so I wasted some tape before I realized I needed to use scissors. Overall, the printer is great in size, prints high quality, easy to use, and has lots of great options. It`s nice to label and maintain home organization, and use for art projects.

I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion. Expectations: I have been wanting a label printer like this one for quite some time. I was very excited to use it to help organize my home, especially the children`s toys with a label including a picture. This will help them to read and write in the future and my hopes are that it will help my home to stay a bit more organized. I am also excited to use this printer to make labels for my produce garden this summer and also when I make custom gifts for others in the future. Assembly/ease of use: I was very impressed with how easy it was to set up this product. The step by step instructions that were provided with the app that you downloaded on your phone helped me so much. I did not have any problems setting the printer up and getting it ready to use to print custom labels. Comparison: I have never actually had a printer specific to printing smaller labels. However, I have had quite a few printers and I have never really been very impressed with their ability to print clear images and colors, until now. I feel like there has always been a lot of troubleshooting and unclear or spotty images. With this printer there were a few images in the beginning that did not display all of the colors, but it was only as the printer started to "warm up" which seems pretty common with most printers. I was actually impressed that it printed a clear image of my son`s lizard on only the third label. I would definitely recommend this printer to others. Quality: I love the quality of the labels and the images. I am very much impressed with this product and what it produces. Improvement: The only improvement that I would suggest is that the images would be more vivid or saturated in the normal printing mode. However, it does help when you click on the "vivid" option when printing. I am not sure why you would not click on the vivid option, but I just wanted to see how it turned out with both options when printed. Overall: I have thoroughly enjoyed using this product. I love the compact and sleek design and the fact that it does not take up enough space. Also, an added plus is the fact that it does not require extra wires to connect your phone because it is wireless. In my opinion, it works much better than other printers I have used in the past and the ease of use is very impressive. It is perfect for people that do not usually use technology and need something that is easy to use. I highly recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tiny, quick to install and use, simple I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. I was a little intimidated to set up the machine but when I got down to it, it was as easy as a few steps. You basically plug it in, download the software, and it guides you through the whole process which took me less than five minutes. Nothing scary. You can download a software on your PC or Iphone/Andriod device and it is an editor similar to other products you probably used before. I printed a few labels for several document folders I had, it is a really quick process. I created/edited and printed 5 labels in about 3 minutes and that was with learning the editing software (intuitive. I then moved on to color photos that my wife wanted of us. The size is a little smaller than I had hoped but then again this is a LABEL maker, not a photo printer. It came with a one inch roll of tape but I believe you can buy bigger rolls. This machine claims to use zero ink which I thought was impossible but it really does not require ink. It only requires the special roll of paper provided and uses lasers I guess to print the image with no ink. Very cool technology. And it was simple to set it up to my wireless network so it only requires being plugged in to a power outlet and no other connections. It is so tiny that I can put it in a corner under my desk and it doesn`t take up desk space but it is light enough that I can just pull it up whenever I need to use it. Very convenient and I am impressed with the quality. There is a cool "swipe to cut" feature but that is difficult to explain through text. I`d recommend this to anyone who is interested in printing labels or other "stickers". Very cool device.

This product is a good fit for anyone looking to make individual stickers. The wireless feature is great because you don`t have to hook up lots of cords and the machine doesn`t take up much space at all. My kids had fun creating stickers to go on their computers. The setup of the machine only took about 10 minutes which included downloading the app. The app could have been a little more user friendly since we had to play around with all the different features for awhile before we made the stickers. After we got used to the app we were able to make the stickers fairly quickly. The only things I would change about this printer are the vividness of the colors and the way you cut the stickers. Colors were faded on both the clip art and the photos after 2 uses. It is also confusing to cut the stickers after the have printed. You have to run your finger across an area on top of the printer. One of my kids didn`t realize this and tried to pull the sticker out. Overall if you are looking for a small wireless label printer I think you would be happy with this product.

The printer itself is light and compact and can be used anywhere, taking up very little space. It was very easy to hook up and download the app to my iphone. There are directions that come with the product, which are easy to follow, but if you know basic technology you won`t even need them. The printer can be used with a computer, laptop, ipad or ios/Android device and has air print capability which allows you to print your design with just a click of a button on your iphone. This is definitely my favorite feature, you don`t have to connect wires and can create from anywhere. Compared to other products I`ve used, I also found it to be user friendly and not take a lot of time to learn to use.The app itself walks you through the set up and creation of labels, adding photo`s, designs, color and much more. The library of pre-made projects is endless with options for all ages and interests. There are already made templates ready to go, but also the option for you to create your own design. The printer comes with a 1 inch roll cassette, but there is the option to purchase up to a 2 inch size as well. The printer also uses zero ink, Zink, which allows the product to already be dry when it prints. This is another great feature because you don`t have to worry about it smudging or waiting for it to dry. In my first time use I was able make a collage of 3 photos similar to what you would find at a photo-booth. The app walked me through importing the pictures right from my photo`s on my phone, adding color and a quick saying. This took me all of 6 minutes, and most of that time was spent finding the perfect pictures to use. I also made labels to organize my office space, and pantry, as well as made my mom labels for her canning jars. If you are looking for something to get organized, that is easy to use and versatile this compact printer is definitely for you. Overall, I was very satisfied with the product, but if I had to offer a suggestion I would love to see this same product also available in a larger option that could print 4x6 prints.

I do not consider myself a tech savvy or very technical person by any means. I did find this product to be user friendly. Right from the start, the printer was easy to set up, I connected it to my IPhone and using the App,. It walked you through the steps very simply. Both the paper manual and the App were clear and set up was quick. I liked that. Assembly for the actual printer are quick. It is honestly connecting a few cords and loading the roll cassette. I have an older model label maker. You type in what you need printed and viola out, comes a skinny label. There is not much to customize with it, just fronts and sizes of lettering. I love that now you can really edit what you are printing. I made some cool labels using photos from my photo library on my phone and added borders. I think these labels can really be tailored to how you want to set things up. I thought,, wow, these are great for kids and teachers. You can label folders with subjects and pictures, you can print out labels with pictures and words to create a schedule board. You can create labels of toy items with pictures so kids know where to put away toys on shelves. The possibilities are really endless. Besides the customization piece, which is by far my favorite, I appreciate easy cutting. I love printing wirelessly straight from my phone. I`d do wish it came with a roll to print photos. I showed a friend my labels, that I was impressed with. He commented that the photos were too small. I think for a label maker, small is what you are going to get! Overall, for such a small product the quality is good. Only concern I would have is how much a replacement cassette cost when you need to make more labels!

The connectivity (in my case to a MAC is not quite so straightforward. It took some research on how to connect this device wirelessly4. assembly was not an issue. the cartridge was easily pushed into place and there were not many moving parts5. I have had non connected label makers that did not have quite the formatting control and this I really like with this product.6.my expectations are mostly met, however, every time I change the cartridge, an entire label is wasted7. I would improve by not wasting an entire 1" strip label with each change of the cartridge and think there is some potential for improvement with the connection wireless interaction8. visually, it is impressively small and seems to pack a punch printing, especially in color. the cartridge is a nice touch and would love to see the waste amount trimmed.

I have used other label makers in the past so I have experience with labels. This one however uses pictures and colors and makes beautiful stick on labels. have made some beautiful jarred foods for people using his label maker. It has really spruced things up. Also I have organized things for my kids and made labels with a picture of what is supposed to be in the basket which has helped my kids stay organized and reminded them of what goes where. So easy to use right from your phone. Very convenient.

Product : Brother VC-500W Color Label and Photo PrinterAssembly: I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion. The printer is very easy to assembly, the only assembly is connecting the label roll to the back of the printer. There is also a adapter that has to be connected to power the printer. The printer itself is very small, about 6 inches in length and 4 inches in height. I like the how small it is because it is easy to store.Setup: Setup could be a little confusing if you you are not good with using the computer. You will need download the software and drivers in order to manage your printer and to setup the wireless printing. It will take you step by step and the setup takes about 7 minutes. But I recommend setting up wireless printing so you can print from your phone.App: There is a Label/Photo create app to download, this will allow you to create photo and other labels. I really like this feature because the app allows you add any picture and designs to the label that you want to create. You are able to add different font designs, frames, and other decorations to make your label pretty. Printing: Printing is very easy, you will just print as you would with any other printer. On the app there are two options you have for printing, the standard and vivid option. I really like the vivid option because it makes the label/picture brighter and makes the label look a lot better. Also when the label is done printing, you have the option of having it automatically cutting the label or a swipe to cut option. I use the swipe to cut option because I think it is really cool.Pros: I really like that the printer is small and easy to assemble. I also like that you can download the app and make an label in the matter of a couple of minutes.Cons: The label is small and doesn`t look like it is a lot of options to make bigger labels.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not a Happy Customer Was working well for the first year, then wouldn’t turn on. It was in great condition as I used it maybe once a month. Even still had the protective plastic wrap still on it. Called brother and they were very unwilling to help. And one of the representatives had me on hold for over 30 minutes and then told me if I don’t hear back from them, they don’t know the answer to the question. Will not be buying a Brother product again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's OK, at best Prior to purchase, I contacted customer service to inquire whether this will work for my purpose - I need to mobile print prescription labels in a pdf format from a tablet . I was told this would not be a problem that it recognizes pdf. No, it doesn't. I now have to transfer the pdf to a notes program and save as an image, then locate the image from the gallery and then print. The labels come out very clear and are waterproof - which is necessary. This printer would get a 5 star review if it didn't take the extra steps to create the labels

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality is fantastic, Out of the box it was time consuming to install drivers and software . It’s not plug and play and its not click and print. When I installed the APP on iPad or iPhone you have to go to the wireless settings and select the VC-500W from the available WiFi list, therefore your device is tied up and you cannot switch between apps to do searches , check mail or other tasks. It’s actually a pain. Print quality is unbelievable and right as soon as i got up and running i made some sweet long and short 2” labels.So i am giving a high performance rating for printing only, connectivity and setup, i am giving the device an one star out of five. It’s not worth the money and time.

You can clearly see the label and it soo thick that it is visible and can lift off product containers quite easily. I think the label paper could be a bit thinner. It also takes very long to print one label.

It’s not plug and play and its not click and print. I also found it difficult to hook up as a wired (usb printer. It seems they are pushing for their app style printing with this device then on a PC computer. I am also not impressed with the color. Color is off on label compared to the computer. I printed a deep blue and the color printed out muted or lighter blue on the label. While I like the small simple design and the inkless feature there are some things that need to be tweeked in order for this be be better in my option.

When I installed the APP on iPad or iPhone you have to go to the wireless settings and select the VC-500W from the available WiFi list, therefore your device is tied up and you cannot switch between apps to do searches , check mail or other tasks. It’s actually a pain. Print quality is unbelievable and right as soon as i got up and running i made some sweet long and short 2” labels.So i am giving a high performance rating for printing only, connectivity and setup, i am giving the device an one star out of five. It’s not worth the money and time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not worth the money! Printer quality is decent. The App is horrible. Very difficult to use. You can only use with a phone or iPad. You cannot use a computer. When the placing the amount of inches I want to print, the app keeps diverting to 5.69 inches for some reason. Apps seems very outdated. Apps freezes and all info gets deleted. The features are cool but it nothing you can’t get elsewhere! Not happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Printer but with lack of important features I work in a product company with 500+ customers. I started recommending my customers this printer for visitor badges. After ordering around 100+ printers and using them daily, we concluded that this printer only works well with the Color Label App. If you want to use this as a visitor label printer, then this printer is not the correct selection. We paired this printer with our Kiosk app on iPad and visitor printer badges. Once the visitor completes the information, the app sends the printer command to print the badge using Air Print. Problem: after 30+ mins of inactivity, this printer goes idle and does not print the badges. Reconnection or printer restart is needed to pair again with the app. This is a huge task for lobby managers as they need to do this activity after every hour and visitors are also unhappy with the delay. Moreover, the badges are not AUTO CUT; someone needs to swipe on the head of the printer to cut the badge. At last, we tried to contact Brother customer support but got no help from their end. Finally, clients are unhappy with this printer and losing their brand value. Just because this printer is going idle and no one has a solution, we have unhappy clients. Therefore, I don’t recommend this printer for Visitor Management, but you can use the printer label for personal use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ABSOLUTYLY TERRIBLE PRINTER & CUSTOMER SERVICE I would not recommend this printer or this company to anyone. I ordered this label printer for work to print high-end, custom labels. But they print nowhere near as vibrant as advertised. Color wasn't as big as a deal to us as we simply needed a black background with our white logo layered overtop of that. However, the white logo and border keeps printing NEON BLUE NOT WHITE. I've tried printing with different label cassettes at different sizes, cleaning with the cleaning paper, messing with the Visibility and the Blue color scale. Nothing works. Better yet, I've been on and off the phone with the customer service since Thursday of last week, waiting over an 1 hour+ to speak with someone for them to go through all the same steps as the last person went over with me.. all for them to put me on another 1+ hold. When I hang up to "save my place in line" nobody calls back. Yesterday, I sat on hold for 1.5 hours, then went through all the same steps again with a guy for him to tell me he was going to have his supervisor call me because HE"S NOT SURE WHATS WRONG. AND THE "SUPERVISOR" NEVER CALLED BACK!!!! INSANE! I am now writing this review as I am on another hold. To probably get transferred or put on hold again. Oh, they also tell you to chat online with someone bc of high call volume, this person (or probably chat bot) literally just sends articles from their website rather than help. Truly a joke of a company.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from specialized for vibrant color adhesive photos This is a bit niche as a small format photo sticker printer up to 2 inches wide and however long, but it's fantastic for its niche. The color is very good but not perfect. It struggles to represent lightly colored "washed out" or over exposed areas in photos but well saturated photos look great. Colors are bright and vibrant. The adhesive is good which is a really big deal. You don't have to peel the adhesive backing if you want to magnet a photo to your fridge or something like that. This would be great for scrapbooking if people are still doing that. Adhesive photos are durable enough to wear for a long time on a laptop that gets carried around in a bag, which is a big deal. Photos don't run or bleed. Inkjet can't do any of that. The "zink" photo stock does cost more. There's good open source software people have written to automate printing to these, that people have used to set up photo print stations at weddings and special events, and it works on Linux/Unix/BSD with that. This is a great way to make inexpensive, durable, full-color stickers to hand out or give to friends. Trimming the photos with scissors works well. Web/WiFi setup works. A 3" version and more standard printing protocols would be nice. Buy this to nicely do what nothing else does.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from printer needs a overhaul labels too expensive I want to love this printer I use it for my small at home business. I have had it since 2020 a d it is not Dec 2023 the labels are not really waterproof if soap gets on it it fades to a blue color so I have to pay for tape to try to keep it from getting wet. The size Ned's to go up to the least 4 inches not 2 inches the size is not that great at all. I wish I can make it round when I need round labes, I have to cut them out to be round. The color oh the color it prints out as a off color, when I called to complain the persons are not trained well, I was seeking help because it prints out a off color sort of faded color like a printer that ink is low. I waist so many labels because I can not always get the size to come out anywhere need 1 inch as of yesterday. The 2 inch has the same issues. Loke I said the representatives do not know how to help me. The labels are so expensive for that small amount of labels and so much waste is left over and you can not use the end of the roll this is ridiculous. I would love to give thus printer a 5 star review but I just can not 3 stars are being nice. I feel I got a bad deal. I asked for them to give me the new model and they would not I do not have the Z link I have the original. They tried to tell me it is the same this is not true I want them to at the least replace my unit it just will not do what it is supposed to do they replaced the app but I think it needs alot of work on it. PLEASE REPLACE MY UNIT PLEASE
