Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rocky start with the setup, but great overall! Great printer! I love that there are refillable ink reservoirs. Connecting wirelessly is not as simple as most modern devices, but once connected, it works great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rethink the design This Printer is fabulous for the ink you can save on - it really lasts. I get frustrated that there is no backlight on the display and I literally have to use a flashlight to see what it says. I also do not like that I have it connected to a phone line but must go through the computer to use it as a fax - thank heavens that is rare because it will only send a page at a time OR maybe I should say, a single item - I had to send two documents. I scanned them into the pictures folder but it would NOT allow me to attach two - just one so I had to fax them separately. AND it prints very S L O W L Y and lacks the options for the type of printing I was used to in my old printer - which used TOOOO much ink. This is a first run and I hope it only gets better because the ink concept is FABULOUS!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worst Printer Experience The only thing I like about this printer is the fact that it holds ink longer. Won't keep an internet connection consistently and the quality of printed pictures is not at all what I would expect. I will never buy a Canon printer again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beware - Limited Lifespan I own the Pixma G4200 and G4210. The are essentially the same machine. My G4200 displayed error code 1700. The ink absorber pads are almost full. They are not user serviceable nor is this an item that a Canon Service Center will repair. My only option is to discard it when the printer ultimately shuts down when the pads are full, and buy another, after less than three years. Do not buy this printer is you plan to use it more than 2 years. It is a short term, throw away and buy another printer. This serious design flaw is probably a reason to buy an extended warranty, provided a three year plan is less than a new printer. I will not buy another one of these when the G4200 stops working.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pixma 4210 NOT recommended Printer was a replacement for a pixma 4200 that failed after a year of casual use. Repeated attempts to fully install software failed every time, but unit would perform correctly about 75 percent of the time. Print quality on most documents is extremely poor. repeated attempts to install latest drivers continually fail.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Prints great, won't scan Can't get the scanner to work. It won't recognize my laptop. Funny thing is, I can print from the same PC, but the scanner can't find it to scan to. I am still having trouble finding a USB port or HDMI port so I can hook my laptop up directly. At this point I might as well use the thing for a boat anchor, except I don't think it is heavy enough to anchor a boat. So another thing it is useless for

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Key features missing, Glitchy, Stopped printing in black immediately i realized that this printer can't print doubleside. So disappointing I thought this was a standard feature especially on a printer at this price. I'm wasting so much paper! It won't stay connected to my windows pc. It connects to my mac book just fine.Their phone tech support helped me connect my pc TWICE but now its disconnected again. Finally 3 wks ago it stopped printing with black ink. SMDH This Printer is a bust.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like other canon printers in my past, both that laser and ink jet, I l I have owned this printer for about six months. I won’t do quick reviews. I’ve used this printer - it is tried and true. It is great. Everything is simple to use, offers nice features: the printing and the photos are perfect. And I do plenty of 8X10’s for family and friends. And for me too! Thanks Canon - you’ve always been a proven winner in my book. (My camera too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Limitations This is the first printer purchased from Canon I have been disappointed in. No duplex printing. A very small and hard to read option screen. Limited paper feed options. Yes, the tank printing option is great and I like not having to replace ink cartridges once a week. But, the overall build and quality of this unit is way below what I've come to expect from Canon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hard to Set Up Wirelessly - Good Copies However It took me two days and help from the Canon Help Desk to finally get the G4010 to print on the network from my iMAC and Intel PC. The screen on the G4010 is tiny and not well lite. You need a flashlight to see the screen. However, once hooked up and running, the copies are very good and it prints reasonably fast in "normal" mode. The ink tanks are refillable and a tank lasts a good while. It is limited to 8 1/2 x 11 or ll x 17 sheets which is a limitation for large graphs, etc. This unit is a replacement for a G4000 that crapped out in less than 2 years. The G4000 was a replacement for a similiar Canon printer that lasted less than 2 years. (Not a good track record for a supposedly high quality priinter line.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ink capacity, bad user interface This Canon has great ink capacity. But when new, it automatically shuts off and does not wake up when trying to print something from AirPrint. Had to read clueless instructions to figure out how to keep it available on the network. Should always come that way by default. And how you turn it on is confusing language. I guess they are still stuck in the 90s in terminology and user ease of use. Not nearly as easy to use as Epson but ink capacity in Canon is great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Meeti I would give this product a five, but I held back for two reasons the instructions on connecting the phone and internet is not too clear, especially for non-computer geeks or as we can say, the older generation. My second factor is that I have only used the product for only one week.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love I've had this Canon for almost 2 months. I can say with confidence I absolutely love everything about to this printer with 1 exception... I wish I could give it 5 stars... But the auto feed and reverse printing... Are non-existent. With the absence of those, this is otherwise the Perfect printer!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Won't Connect to Wifi Pick another one. I'm a big fan of Canon photograph products having owned two DSLR cameras and a number of lenses. I bought this printer a week ago (9/10/18 as an everyday printer for work other than photos. It set up and installed correctly, although the scanner function would not work. The device kept shutting down and losing connectivity. Yesterday (9/14), it would not connect to wifi at all. I spend nearly an hour with online technical support downloading drivers and installation software. Still no results. So..... I'm returning it. Choose something different.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AS good as it gets I received my printer today, I unboxed it and to my surprise I had an extra 2 bottles of black ink, I can print forever. I started by reading the reviews. I didn't give the negative reviews much weight. If you want a printer that butters bread buy it, this is a printer that makes sense for a person that is most interested in cost per print. it does have many features I will never use. It faxes it scans, if you need a printer to do basic work this printer is a beast. it installed easy enough and the instructions were easy enough. I downloaded the drivers from the canon USA site and had it installed in 15 min. Wi-Fi setup was a bit touchy, the more you know about Wi-Fi the easier it is, I didn't need tech support but I can see why others might. connecting it to an I phone was crazy easy. Install the app. The same with android, you can identify the printer on the iphone but u need to accept on the printer for droid. All in all it has been a great experience and I have already printed my first 100 pages, as I said I can print forever. Should you buy this printer? if u want your bread toasted and slathered with jelly get a toaster. If u need to print and u are tired of paying more for the ink than the printer costs, the choice is clear

Had to call for help. I have installed other printers, fax machines, scanners, with no problems. Do not know why they make the instructions so strange to follow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Primitive and Archaic … but it has mega tanks! The mega tank feature of the G4210 coupled with my prior positive experience with Canon was what compelled me to make the purchase. However it has so many deficiencies that I am seriously considering returning it. Overall I am disappointed with the G4210. However, I have researched all of the mega tank brands in this price range and have been unable to find one that does everything I would like it to do. Pros: Mega tank – This is an awesome feature. Photo quality – Not excellent, but good. Print quality – good. Print speed – good. Tech support – I have called twice about the G4210 and the support has been excellent. They speak and understand English and successfully work through the issue. Wireless connection – Flawless since my purchase of about 2 weeks ago. FAX – No problems. It works with my VOIP phone line. Scanning – No problems. Cons: Set-up – The set-up would not work using the computer on-screen set-up instructions on my MAC. I called Canon and they walked me through a manual set-up which required me to use the tiny display screen on the printer. Display Screen – Agonizingly terrible. It is less than 2 inches by ½ inch in size. It is located on top of the printer. I have to stand up to view and use it. The screen is not backlit. I have to shine a light on it to see it. The text is tiny and difficult to read. (very tiny) Maneuvering through the menu options is not intuitive. Auto paper size detection – Apparently there is no auto paper size detection. I attempted to use the computer to make paper size print specifications and the G4210 ignored those selections. When I called Canon, I was told to use the manual paper selection menu options on the teeny tiny screen (which is not intuitive). The paper size worked when I did it manually. Further, when printing envelopes, the printer does not recognize that an envelope has been loaded. I must select “envelope” using the teeny tiny printer screen and then change it back when I am finished with envelopes. Copy – Paper size output selections must go through a similar maneuver to what was described in the previous paragraph. The teeny tiny screen also makes this an unpleasant experience. Auto duplex – It does not have an auto two-sided print feature. It does not have a duplex auto document feeder. I knew this when I purchased it. I really miss that feature. It was on my Canon MX870. Air Print – Air print works but a print command from my iPhone results in only a 8.5 x 11 print option on the G4210. If I want to print a 4 x 6 from my iPhone I have to use the Canon App. Pre-Print delay – Prior to printing a document there is often an annoying delay accompanied by rotating internal sounds of the printer which I would assume would be a process of cleaning the print heads. It does not happen every time I print, but it is frequent. Noise – It is loud! Many other reviewers have said this and now I know what they mean. Quality perception – Perception can deceptive and misleading. After working with the MX870 for many years the touch and feel of the G4210 seems flimsy and cheap. I can only hope in the long-run it is reliable, dependable, and durable and proves my perception of its persona to be wrong. I am very disappointed that such a fine company as Canon would produce a product with so many deficiencies. It might be more palatable if they also offered a mega tank option with practical features. I would certainly have paid more money to purchase such a printer. The G4210 would seem to be a black eye that would cause consumers to want to flee to other brands.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well, but seems cheaply made I'm satisfied with this printer/copier/fax/scanner. It was easy to assembly and has done all we've asked of it. It was less expensive than the similar Epson machine, but in hindsight I would have paid more for the Epson because when I tested it, it seemed more substantial, better "put together" and will higher-quality parts, than the less expensive Canon. I guess "you get what you pay for".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not the best It is an ok printer but buggy. Purchased to replace old Canon we had for 8+ years. Was getting hard to find the ink. Went with this one to try reduce cost of ink. It constantly thinks it is offline and need to keep running check on print que to get it to acknowledge print job. It turns itself off as a power saver so always having to turn it back on and run the check again. Had it for 5 months and now realizing it doesn't print on 8.5x11 Glossy Photo Paper. This is one of my main reasons for getting the printer. Now I understand why the photos have looked bad because it keeps switching back to regular paper setting and errors out if you select glossy and 8.5x11. I see now that is in the fine print. Be sure to read all the details. For the price it has a lot of limitations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No more expensive ink cartridges I just bought this printer because my last Canon printer died. I have always found Canon printers meet my demands. I am glad to get the Mega Tanks. I was always running out of ink. I am disappointed that it doesn't print on both sides automatically. Also the digital screen is almost impossible to see because it is flat and where I have to have the printer I have yo pull it out to read the screen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great idea, Not so on execution I bought this a few weeks ago and find it too labor intensive and doesn't seen to stay connected to my Mac Book pro. The printer itself will not stay on, I like to come down my office and print to be able to print from upstairs without having to go down and turn my printer on. The color of the printing is not solid and seems not as sharp as my HP I replaced. Overall I am very disappointed in this printer, love the big wells, but would return it if it wasn't such a hassle. I have been a photojournalist for years and print a lot, this was great on idea, not so good on execution. I have used canon cameras since the AE-1, but not their printers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thank you canon for listening to the consumer I am super happy with this printer, the features are not the top of line , I would say above average (no auto duplex printing but the fact that I don't have to spend hundred of dollars on ink is amazing. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Many Desirable Features I truly like the print quality, the ability to replace ink heads, and the large ink reservoirs. Features limiting the G4210 are the small control LED panel, single-sided printing, and time taken to be woke-up on the network.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great printer I reluctantly ordered this printer after reading other reviews and am now wondering what the other reviewers had in mind. Firstly, the printer does feel cheap. It is light and when closing doors and working with it I feel it is not worth the price paid. Setup was fairly easy, and setting it up for wireless printing on my HP computer as well as my iPhone and iPads was flawless. All in all, I’m glad I got this printer. HP cartridges are way overpriced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Photos Very easy setup as long as you read the instructions and take your time. Print quality is excellent. Photo quality couldn't be better. Love the idea that I'll never buy over-priced ink cartridges again. Relatively small footprint for a full function device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a piece of garbage I have had this printer for quite some time now. It is obviously a lemon! I have tried everything to connect to the router for wireless printing. NOGO!. The passphrase I enter is never accepted. So, I connected it hard wire and the thing only works half the time. I have spent more time futzing with this thing than it would take to research and build an entire computer!!! I do NOT recommend this to anyone!!! POJ

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love It! We've previously owned Canon printers and after making a switch to HP for a while we are back and very pleased. I'm not sure if those complaining about set-up issues have a printer issue or a user issue as my totally non-tech savvy spouse was able to set this up completely by herself. I am actually about to purchase another one of these to use at our other house because I have been so please with the first one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought this one for the ink savings. This is a great printer for ink savings especially if the majority of your printing is only one page. The ECO mode can be easily disabled to prevent automatic "turn off" function. Printings and copies are very good quality and the ink lasts a long time. I would give the unit 5 stars except that for some reason it does not have an automatic two sided printing/copying function. In order to do two sided printing, one must turn the page(s over manually. I simply use an older, but still functional Canon MG7100 for two sided printing/copying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Poor I am sorry to say that I was very disappointed in this printer. I have used Canon for years and years and have always been very pleased with them. Ink cost has always been a problem, so when I saw the Megatank come out, I jumped on it. Mistake! Slow printing, no duplex ADF, no auto duplex printing, so so quality of the printing, it now sits on my desk and I have gone back to printing with my MX922. Canon, the idea is great, but give me something that is worthy of Canon. Until this printer, every Canon I had was fast, had great quality and felt solid. I can't say the same for this one. I use this printer for my business, but if I need something fast or with good quality, it's back to the MX922 I go. Do me a favor, IMPROVE the quality of the print and speed, add features like auto duplex printing and ADF, and then offer a refund or credit for anyone who purchased this printer towards the improved, better printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough to use 1. function display is terrible location. Was designer asleep? It is not clear in literature that duplex printing is not a feature; print quality is very good, scanning is a terrible task; i do my scanning on an older pixma unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for its a bit clumsy with the way the menu is used and situated. The display is difficult to read in normal lighting. Cant find a way to keep printer on, it always shuts off after a few minutes so you have to power it up wait for it to warm up then print. It is what it is a bottom of the line printer, but it does print well once you get pass the setup part.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Printer great printing. However, I have to turn it on everytime I want to print if it has been awhile since my last print job. Also, it takes some time to warm up. I like the fact that it has tanks you can fill and ink lasts a long time......I hope. It also has many functions like a copy feeder.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Prints well but awful software I've owned this printer for nearly a year so far. It's great with ink and it prints text and business documents well and inexpensively. Pictures are only fair though. The problem is getting it hooked up properly. It connects to my PC and used to connect to my wife's MacBook Air but not even Tech Support can make it work on her laptop anymore. Also, Canon provides copious amounts (8 apps! of low quality software. I'd much rather have one app that works very well. They definitely don't provide that. Overall, there are too many downsides to recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Concept - Poor Execution Bought the printer a bit over 2 years ago. About 1.5 years into use the black head has failed. All head cleanings have failed. Had the pad full error also. Was able to fix that from u-tube. Head is easy to take out. Have tried numerous cleaning solutions. No good. I love the concept. If you could only buy parts!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Unhappy. Wow. It was not clear to me that this printer was unable to print two-sided. As the option comes up when I print, thought grayed out, I had to hunt and hunt until I found a YouTube video that stated this inability to duplex print clearly. I want to return this. Please contact me. Your website has been down and your wait time on the customer service line is 10-15 minutes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Display is impossible to read and navigate. Printer is noisy. The LED display is difficult to see/read and pushing buttons to get what you want is not intuitive. A big step down from previous display on the 610, and I'm surprised you went with this considering how clear and easily read the other display was

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can’t make it work reliably. I had high hopes for this mega tank printer after abandoning HP products. Unfortunately, my experience has been riddled with nothing but problems. I literally have to jump through hoops every time I try to print. I’ve use onboard diag., nozzle cleaning, deep cleaning, updated firmware, wired and wireless print options, etc. I’ve even tried different media like pdf/word docs/jpegs/photos etc. We print very infrequently, maybe once or twice a week, so over use isn’t an issue. I’m at my wits end and am ready to give up on this new and improved printer. Purchased from Best Buy in Dec. 2018.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from printing blank pages even after OK nozzle test I am truly done with Canon printers! Work fine for a while but then mysterious problems like this and no adequate trouble-shooting techniques from Canon. I will happily return to HP - and to Epson for my scanning needs and those of my students.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Frustrated by maintenance issues We have had this printer since September 2018. We frequently have to deep clean the print nozzles as the tubes get air bubbles which prevent all three colors printing correctly at the same time. We are also constantly cleaning the printer rollers because the paper feeders malfunction - this doesn't seem to do much to improve the situation, but there's nothing much we can do. I do like the larger ink tanks which seem more efficient and environmentally friendly, but the maintenance issues are driving me crazy!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FAST & ECONOMICAL! I bought this to replace an older printer that was failing. Partly my fault, not Canon! But then their price for ink increased so much I wanted one less expensive to print color. This is great at that! It prints very nice pictures even on plain paper. Photo paper makes them even better! Only uses 4 tanks Black, cyan, yellow, magenta. My old one used 5 and they were tiny - for a higher price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from POST-SALE CUSTOMER SUPPORT IS USELESS I'VE OWNED A PIXMA G4210 FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS. I TOLERATED ITS PERSONALITY QUIRKS, DID THE USUAL MAINTENANCE. BUT NOW IT WONT PRINT AT ALL. I WENT ONLINE (AS DIRECTED BY THE USER MANUAL FOR MAINTENANCE HELP, AND FIND IT USELESS. FOR EXAMPLE: WHAT SHOULD AN AUTO HEAD PRINTOUT PATTERN LOOK LIKE? ONLINE OR LOCALLY, SUPPORT IS USELESS. I'M SORRY I BOUGHT THIS BRAND.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hopefully OPTIMISTIC Needed a new printer and liked the "mega tank" idea. Printed one 8x10 photo and it looked really great even with just the 4 colors. My old Pixma had more cartridges including one "gray" ink. Photo looked just as good but the amount of ink used seemed to be more than I expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very high maintenance printer It would be a great product (as far as printing quality is concerned if it didn't stop printing so often. It required more cleaning, deep cleaning and ink flushes than all my previous printers combined. Probably 75% of all the ink it used so far was on maintenance. Then it would work for a few days or a few weeks before it stops printing properly again. Very disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from disappointed Have been using canon printers for years. This will probably the last one. Said it did duplex in the literature. It only does duplex when you manually remove paper and turn over. Their is no usb port for saving scanned items(what were they not thinking. Setting up the software is a pain in the butt. It is a pain to manually turn the printer on and wait before most every job. Don't know how well it will last or ink will hold up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Black print head DIED in 22 months of use! Purchased this product in July 2019. Ran well and produced great results. But lately print quality deteriorated. Took it for a service to authorized Canon repair shop. They said black print head is dead and NO REPLACEMENT PART IS AVAILABLE! So if this happens to you, be prepared to buy a new printer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good printer--easy on ink. My old printer was functional, but really costing way too much in ink. I'm glad for this one! I print quite a bit and the ink levels have hardly moved. It is pretty user-friendly, but if I have a complaint, it's that it didn't come with a quick summary list of all the functions it's capable of and how to accomplish them. Learning to use it fully has been trial and error.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did not save me on ink costs, needs better option for cleaning I bought this printer about 3 years ago with the expressed purpose of saving money on ink and to start printing artwork. I was initially really happy with the printer as the print quality was great and could print a full page with no borders! But now, I have almost entirely stopped printing at home because of how frustrating it is. My printer will often just stop printing one color. The only fix that worked, and the only suggestion from support after cleaning and deep cleaning did not fix it, is to do an ink flush. My printer has required 5 ink flushes so far, which be more than a full replacement of the ink in the printer. I feel like this has cost me more than a regular printer at this point. The actual amount of printing I have done would've only used a quarter of the ink in this same time span. After the 4th deep cleaning, I purchased a new color printer head, in case that was the issue. Unfortunately, I'm still having the same issue. I recently tried printing some stuff for the holidays only to discover I needed to do an ink flush again, as the cleaning and deep cleaning don't help at all. I did the ink flush and was able to print about 10 pages and now a week after, I find it is not printing one color again. I would recommend avoiding any Pixma printers until there is another option than an ink flush to fix the issue of one or more of the colors failing to print.
