Rated 5 out of 5 by from No operating instructions anywhere in the world It works fairly well after long and hard wrestling to figure out whether it can do anything. I wish it wasn't all shrouded in mystery. I wish there were some operating instructions somewhere in this universe. My instincts and intuition are not powerful

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beware novice! Difficult to set up. You need two heads-to read the manual and the printer screen. You need to switch between these. Could not find my (powerful router. Had to enter manually. They don't tell you that you MUST put paper in your rear paper holder. Then I was attempting to connect my smartphone by bluetooth and find you need PIN. No information where to FIND pin. And these are only my initial set-up issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get ready to act out the scene from Office Space Barely lasted its warranty period. It would make one scan, then lose its connection. Updating or reinstalling the printer or divers made no difference. Scanning via the touchscreen worked 25% of the time. Attempting to print from a smartphone was just about as reliable. The included scanning software wasn't any more reliable, not to mention a UI that is VERY dated (<-- understatement. Out of the blue, Error 6004 pops up (basically the Canon equivalent of the 'blue screen of death' for Windows. The only support is to shut-down & unplug for 15 seconds, then try again. If that doesn't work, off to a service center (yeah, right, especially right in the middle of a pandemic). Better-off buying a whole new printer. The only plus is that it's one of the few with a rear-load try and individual ink tanks. Print quality is good, with average ink consumption. Copy function worked, but was slow. The ADF is painfully slow and really loud. Never had it jam as some reviews claim, but I rarely ever used it for more than a couple pages. And whomever came up with the idea that the font panel has to be opened manually anytime you print should be fired. My last three printers were all Canons, but quality has definitely been declining over the years. My replacement for this paperweight will be a different brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Na It is good printer, easy to set up to use but the older Pixma Mx922 was more automated I didn't have to open the tray for the pribted pages. I suppose it made me lazy in that way and it was more difficult to set up. I do like Canon printers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pixma Tr8520 wireless printer Small, economic, ink is reasonably priced. Picture quality is great. Love the fact I can print from my phone. Easy programming. The only fault I find with it is it holds a very small of paper in the tray at a time. Other than that I love it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from On-line 'manual' is beyond confusing. It's hard to find anything. It's not a bad little printer. I read that the on-line manual support was confusting, but I thought it couldn't be that bad. OMG - It's beyond confusing. I can't find anything I need, as simple as changing print from regular to draft, and it's nearly impossible to decipher any of it. It's so bad, that if I had to do it over again I would not buy this printer. Also, the printer goes through ink very fast.

Next time I tried, I never got it to finish the scan. Had to put each page on the glass and scan separately. Cheap junk!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from STUPID ME Just purchased a PIXMA TR8520 with out looking closer to the specs. I Make copies of music cd's for the home & 2 cars and was under the impression it could be done with this model. WRONG!!! Had a PIXMA MG 7520 for years and finally would not power on. Made many cd's with pictures etc on it. Being a photographer was able to upload the digital images easily. Just using this new printer, I agree with several others that it is loud, makes noises, cheaply made and DOES NOT come unto the standard of my Mg 7620.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrible design I was heartbroken when my MX892 finally died after more than a decade and, apparently, justifiably so. I would think that a new model would work better than an old, but it's like the designers just needed to change perfectly good features, and wrecked them in the process. It does print ok - so that's good. But the paper tray is very flimsy; it has mutiple pieces that tend to come off and do not easily fit back in, so loading paper becomes a frustrating activity. If the little holder bar has not been pulled out all the way, printed copies go flying across the room; if it is in place it is only good for a few sheets. I wanted a model that had a rear feed so that I could keep envelopes at the ready. This has the feed, but an awkward kind of cover that needs to be set exactly right, so I usually have to cross the room and readjust it for every envelope, which kind of defeats the purpose. The controls are on a panel that lifts up, making a flimsy, non-user friendly surface. It is also very noisy, and continues to make strange sounds long after a printing or scanning operation,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Printer Very nice capability to print from my phone and/or computer. Some of the instructions are a bit tricky but within a couple hours I was able to figure it out. Definitely need to refer to the online manual.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smaller and Lighter We had an MX922 since 2015 and used it quite often in the wife's sewing room as she is a quilter. She also has another brand laser printer for basic black text with no color. The reason I gave it a 4 star rating was that it did not have a tray for 4x6 and other photo paper separated from plain paper. Even though it uses one less ink cartridge it printed a color photo (4x6 quite well. Really hard to tell the difference. AS you can imagine the MX922 is much larger and the TR8520 is really smaller and lighter. She has used it and is pleased with the direct USB, its also ether net ready and wifi in our home based network.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from miserable experience to set up I've now been working on setting this up for two separate days, about 4 hours total, and it now says my router only provides 5Ghz and the printer needs 2.4 Ghz. Since my router is dual band, I don't know what's wrong and if sending this machine back were really a good option I would. As it is, I may have to pay someone to come here and set it up, which really shouldn't be necessary. In addition, many of the plastic parts seem flimsy, so anyone who doesn't have good manual dexterity may have additional challenges to prevent breaking something.

WE PURCHASED THIS PRINTER AND IT WAS A COMPLETE DISASTER, AFTER INSTALLING IT AND SETTING IT TO OPERATION, FROM A STARTING TO FAIL, THE PRINTER OK, THE COPY OK, BUT THE SCAN IS AN ABSOLUTE DISASTER, THERE WERE WARNINGS THAT THE PAPER WAS MIRED AND THAT IS NOT TRUE, THERE WASN'T JAMPED PAPER, WE TURNED IT OFF AND RETURNED TO START AND SCAN A PAGE WELL AND THEN IT DID NOT WORK, WE HAD TO RETURN IT THE OTHER DAY OF PURCHASING IT.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wireless Set Up Impossible/Does not work As long as you don't need the wireless feature, this printer might work for you. Having spent several unsuccessful hours trying to set it up, I am likely to need to buy an entire new printer. Would never have bought this printer had I known I would be unable to use the wireless feature. Tried changing to 2.4 network- still didn't work. This printer only supports 2.4. My last printer from HP had super easy to set up for the wireless access.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Shoddy construction I bought this against my better judgment. I have had two other Canon all-in-one printers, including another pixma, that didn't last more than a couple of years. The power cord is so poorly designed, looking at it cross-eyed makes it fall out (how can you screw that up?, half the time the commands won't work on the touch pad, and there is no regular-size USB port (this is basic). It is faster than my last pixma by far and the quality seems to be ok. But overall I regret wasting my money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow! What a multifunction printer for the price I ordered this printer in Dec 2019 to replace a beloved (over 10 year old 6 cartridge HP PhotoSmart that was becoming painfully slow. I wanted to have it's replacement here and ready when the HP ran out of ink. That happened in Jan 2020. Installation on my network was almost intuitive and took only an hour or so including software and drivers for two computers. Since he setup up testing we have only used the printing (documents and photos) and scanning functions. Document printing seems so fast (in comparison) that my wife and I keep commenting to each other on it. Print quality is excellent but that is to be expected from a printer designed for photos. Love that we can set a short idle timeout and have the printer power up when one of us prints, no running over to hit the power button.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Review sent way too soon. It’s hard to rank this printer after just receiving it. Surveys should come much later after some experience using the printer. Compared with older Canon printers I’ve had and have had several, the construction is light weight and cheaply put together. However the function seems to be ok.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good features, terrible document feeder On the plus side, lots of good features, and relatively small size. On the minus side, top cover is rather cheaply made, including the ADF (feeder which feeds badly and has no duplex capability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unable to modify settings I bought this two months ago after reading several glowing reviews. The printer only allows preset settings, there is no way to set to draft printing that I have found. However, I have not been to the webpage for my printer, because my malware says it's a ghost page that malware warns will be able to access all my info. & the site states that it will require access to my passwords. Without being able to adjust the default printing, I am going through ink very fast. It is also much slower than described, I am guessing that is because it wants the highest quality, even normal print is slow.
Date published: 2019-09-23T00:00:00-04:00
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great speed and quality but has major design flaw! Great printer. Prints normal jobs quickly and great quality photos. I dropped to 4 stars because I do not like how we have to lift the front door to print and wake the printer up. Very annoying and poor design. Every other printer I have owned, wakes up by itself when a print job hits the que and prints with out lifting a door.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic all in one printer! I bought TR8520 to replace a work horse MX330 all in one printer. Several years ago we purchased a wireless printer to serve out family printing needs. When Is needed ink for the wireless printer I could replace both printer for an additional $20. The only issue i have is the very poor set up instructions. The instruction book print was too small and hard to read. Switching from the book to your phone using a QR reader only complicated the process. When setting up my MX330, (10 years ago the set up was on one large sheet of paper with pictures and simple printed instructions. I highly recommend the TR8520 it replaces both my printer with todays technology.

The quality of the prints and copies is superb (equal or better to that of the much more expensive office printer I used at work. and the scanner resolution is fantastic too. Single page print speed (in black and white) is pretty fast. Ink consumption is very good: Right out of the box, I printed around 70 black and white pages in duplex mode and the ink levels went down just a bit. Set up was easy: The booklet had very good instructions needed to set the printer up. I opted a USB connection to my laptop and I just had to follow the on-screen instructions. I had to purchase separately a male A to male B usb 2.0 cable as I was instructed by Canon customer support. Speaking of, great customer support from Canon: I was able to speak to a knowledgeable person right away with no wait time. Love the small footprint so that I can fit it into so many places and the light weight which allows me to move it around when I need with no effort. Also love the relatively large to what other printers offer touch screen. The majority of the other printer's screen that I checked on BestBuy where tiny and I needed effort to read them. In summary, this printer has exceeded my expectations! I only wish it came in a white color in addition to black.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from not worth the money or the hassle I bought this thinking ti would work better than the HP I was replacing due to it being a piece of junk as well. This was the most difficult printer to date to install and set up after many years of using them. I have spent many hours of swearing and frustrating attempts to get my laptop set up wirelessly. I do Not recommend this printer!

I was unable to reach any customer support, so I rebought the same model last month. When it works, I like this model, but why couldn't I reach anyone to discuss what happened to my first purchase?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolute worst printer I ever owned This printer is complete garbage. Printer so bad it gives me printer rage as it is incredible slow to process and print, looses wifi connection often (sitting right next to router and more often then not has ghost paper jams. Not sure if got a lemon but will never likely purchase a cannon product again for home or office. Really disappointed in the overall quality and performance of this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A miserable replacement for the PIXMA922 My PIXMA922 was spectacular but it developed a problem after a few years and even though it was a minor issue it didn't pay to have it repaired. I have been glad to purchase Canon printers, cameras, etc. for 20+ years and I have always been delighted with their products. The only reasonable replacement for the 922, at a very low low cost, was the TR8520. I would gladly have paid an additional 100. to get a Canon product that actually replaced everything that my 922 did. Alas, there is not a product that has the features of the 922 in the present Canon lineup. Each time that I have purchased a replacement multi-function machine (over the past 15+ years I have been able to notice small but significant improvements to various portions of the machines. That has always impressed me. With this purchase (TR8520) I found nothing but disappointment with the fresh paper capacity, the ADF capacity, the touch screen controls, the flimsy cover, the flimsy printed page holder and the controls lid that needs to be elevated in order to get copies out.  It feels like junk in comparison to all of my past Canon products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Setup, Great Printouts The TR8520 is a small printer that does it all--print, copy, scan and fax. It was easy to set up with a Mac just by connecting to System Preferences. Its large 4.3" screen makes it easy to read and control. The actual printouts are quite good for such an inexpensive multifunction. I have a few complaints, however. To begin with you have to move the LCD screen in an vertical position in order to print. You also have to move the paper resting tray tongue outward. The paper feed tray is only for 100 sheets and could be larger compared to the competition. Canon has designed a removeable plastic cover over the paper tray itself. This is just an extra step to load paper that other printers do not require. Overlooking these minor complaints, the TR8520 is a perfect all-in-one for a home or small office.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All in one I am writing a review for the Product: PIXMA TR8520 BK Printer. I received a free sample in exchange for agreeing to write a review. Overall I loved this canon printer & having all in one made it simple. I really appreciated the more sleek, smaller design than the previous printers as I can have a bit more space now as well. I feel it's just perfect for at an home printer as it's all in one. Easy to use & set up. A con I noticed is it has high running costs. I found this printer to have a high print quality that made me very happy! It's definitely lighter than the previous one and is more compact. Has SD card slot. Ethernet support. It comes w/2 black inkswhicb of should. Two paper input trays. 20-sheet ADF. XXL ink cartridges available. It may be a little pricey, but the Canon Pixma TR8520 all-in-one printer produces terrific high quality print and text, graphics and photos, and it has a strong feature set. I am extremely happy as I needed to find a good printer for home. Am very appreciative I have this one!:)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very cheap plastic build I had to replace my previous robust and perfectly functioning Canon printer because Canon deliberately do not update drivers for new Mac OS versions. The replacement has a cheap and flimsy feel and does not accommodate automatic 2-side scanning from the sheet feed. The sheet feed jams easily and requires sending the unit to Canon if a jammed sheet cannot be removed from the totally enclosed mechanism.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worst Canon I've owned; want a different model! I've owned several Canon All-In-One printers, at least 7. I use a printer a lot, have given Canon printers to family and have highly recommended Canon Printers. The exception is this new PIXMA TR8520. It is LOUD, not reliable with printing from iPhone, has poorly designed aesthetics, and goes through INK like a water fall; guzzles ink up extremely quickly! Poor aesthetics examples: 1. It won't print unless you leave the "Canon Flap" (touch screen window in the up and out position. 2. When adding paper, they have the "paper-arm" bar right above where the cut-out is to pull the tray out so you have to push the paper-arm in to pull the tray out to fill paper. 3. The paper-arm to support paper won't flip over and in without having to lift the "Canon Flap". I ordered directly from Canon (April 2018) when my old Canon died. I asked questions to the sales lady such as, "Is this the latest printer because I have $220 worth of ink doesn't fit any current printers?" "How is the ink?", "Is it quiet?"... So disappointing. I have normally purchase from an office supply store and could put my hands on it before buying. One good aspect. Does print good quality 4x6 photos. I would like Canon to offer the option of 4x6 or 5x7 free photo paper with their bundles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Printer Great Software Setup No So Purchased to replace my MX-922 which had a print head failure. Did online setup process and for some reason on both computers (i suspect failure-code defect on software i received printer error. Talked to support and they were very good however had to try multiple times to get it to work. Finally after we got it to work on laptop via online software; again it failed to print. Once again, an uninstall of the software. Next, I pulled out the windows install CD and selected only the basic things i needed. Install seems to be holding and printer seems to be printing on demand. Repeated this on Desktop and again, seems to be holding and printing without error.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Setting Up!!! I received the Canon Pixma TR8520 Wireless Office All In One Printer for free in exchange for writing a review. I loved the fact that the instructions were clear and setup was simple. I’m now a stay at home mother who doesn’t know too much about electronics, but I found it very easy to work with. I found it printed really fast, scanning documents and pictures were extremely easy to do, and the quality of the photos I printed definitely met my expectations, and it even came with 4X6 photos in the packaging! I would have to say my favorite two features are the touch screen, which is very user friendly and the fact I can print directly from my phone!! This product definitely meets all my needs from printing, faxing, scanning, and copying all in one device. The only thing I would like to have seen come with the product would be a network cable. Thankfully I was able to find one otherwise I would’ve had to go to the store to buy one. I would definitely recommend this product to a friend or family member. Overall I really likes using the product because of the ease of it and its extremely compact, which is important for my small home office!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple, Sleek & Sophisticated! Background: It`s been several years since I unpacked/installed a printer, so I wasn`t quite sure what to expect. I received this printer as a free sample to review and I couldn`t have been more pleased with this printer! Below are my detailed thoughts that will hopefully aid in your decision-making process... Unpacking/Installation: First off, wow - awesome packaging! Super user-friendly and intuitive to unpack each item and know what goes where. The screen plays a straight-forward, yet detailed installation video for plugging into desktop computer, installing ink, paper, etc. (It even filled in color boxes when printer recognized that ink was installed - loved that feature!) My only negative feedback with the installation process was that paper is cheap - it would have been nice to include just a sheet or two for the test process. Obviously I had some on-hand, but would have been a nice touch. Appearance: Excellent interface! Love the tilt feature on the control panel so that I`m not squatting down to read what`s going on. Streamlined appearance fits perfectly into my contemporary/modern home office and looks very chic overall. Print Quality: I do quite a bit of graphic design work and this printer does not disappoint. I`m very pleased with the items that I`ve printed thus far - colors are on-point, lines are tight and crisp, etc. Very pleased for use as a home printer. Printing Functionality: Even though there is an app available, for my purposes, I found it easier to print wirelessly over my network. Scanning to an email or file is also a very nice feature to have available. One complaint - I had an `out of paper` error almost right away that took a lot of troubleshooting to fix. It was never out of paper, so not sure what triggered the error. Overall: I would pick this printer out of a line-up in a heartbeat! Seems like an excellent printer and I`m very pleased with it. Now, granted, I`ve only had it for about 10 days, but still - great results so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy setup and use This printer does exactly what I expected, and it performs slightly faster than expected. I received this printer sample in exchange for my honest review, and I would consider it a good purchase. I am not very technologically advanced, and I just use my computer and printer to do the basics. Thankfully, this was really easy to setup, which was something I am always concerned with when I purchase a new electronic device. It was really easy to setup and use, and the printer quality seems very sharp. Overall I believe I will get plenty of use out of this printer, and if I need to hook it up to another computer in my home or office, I think I would have no trouble.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features, decent touchscreen While I was not in the market for a new printer, I'm always on the lookout for better technology. When the opportunity came up to receive this printer for my honest review, I jumped at the chance. As someone that prints a decent amount at home be it for business or to print out those last minute tickets to a show, u appreciate an easy to use and quick to print device. Let's start with the setup process. Unboxing was standard, pulled it out of the box and stuck it on my desk. Pulled out a couple of cables and ink, and promptly ignored the instructions. I removed the orange tabs, plugged it in, and opened it up so I could install the ink cartridges. This was simple, though I will say you should be careful with the cartridges as the ink may splash a wee bit. Once installed, it wanted to print a test alignment page. Sure, no problem. Except you need to lift up the touchscreen portion to print... I thought that was weird and an unnecessary step as the paper would be able to easily fit underneath, but hey I'm not a product designer. A few thoughts I wrote while setting up the printer: ink splatters a bit Stop is not a good way to tell you 'go back to set this wireless up' - this means the instructions are very confusing while trying to connect to wireless. Should have a way to unmask wireless characters. - I had to re enter the password several times. Let's be honest, if you are setting up a home printer, chances of someone stealing your wifi password over your shoulder are 0%. Front panel is a bit flimsy and is obnoxious that you have to flip it up to print - mentioned before, not a fan of how flimsy this is or that you have to flip it. I'd like for the printing to be seamless. Fast color printing, but not photo realistic (blues and bronzes are washed out - this isn't a photo printer so this is NOT a negative, just a thought. Installation other than the above was simple and easy. I love that you can print from your phone, but the annoying part is you still have to be near the printer to flip up the touch screen for it to actually print out. Overall though, the quality of the printer is good, the ink seems to last quite a long time, and the software is not very intrusive. This printer is better than my old one, despite it being slightly bulkier. The scanning and wifi is top notch, and other than my few nit picks, I would recommend this printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features! I received the PIXMA TR8520 BK Printer for free in exchange for my honest opinion. When I first saw the box I was a bit overwhelmed because it is a large box with a long list of set-up instructions. The instructions are fairly simple but please set aside at least half an hour to complete the set up. What I love the most about thsi printer is that it is wireless and it can print from your computer as well as your mobile device. I really like being able to print pictures on photo paper. The quality of this photos is really good. What I don`t really like is that you have to set up the printer in certain ways in order to printer certain documents but I guess that will just get some getting used to. In addition to being a printer, it is also a copier and fax machine! These capabilities have really saved me time and effort of not having to leave my home office to get documents printed and faxed. Overall, I believe this a really great product for a home office.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality and wireless all-in-one printer! I am a long time user of Canon printers, so I was super excited when I received a complimentary Pixma TR8520 in exchange for agreeing to review the product and share my thoughts. My first impression of the printer was that it was very compact to be an all in one printer, scanner, fax machine, copier with a document feeder! I work remotely and it fit in very well in my home office. The `Getting Started Guide` made the set-up process very easy, and the user friendly touch screen made navigating the printer setup process a breeze! I work from a laptop and am not always near the printer, so one of my favorite features is the wireless printing. The fact that I could download a quick app and print from my iPhone was an added bonus! The print quality is consistent with what I have grown to expect and love about Canon printers. My color photos looked very crisp and clear on the 4x6 glossy photo stock that comes free with the printer, and I was pleasantly surprised at the speed of the b&w printing. One thing that I would have liked to have seen done differently on this printer is for it to be more sturdy. I was nervous that the paper tray would break every time I loaded paper because it was flimsy. I also wish that I could load the ink cartridges without getting a little ink on my hands and that I did not have to lift the operation panel before each use. But overall, this is a great printer and I highly recommend it for a home office or personal all in one printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A step back? I can't say this is an improvement over the MX920 other than it's smaller footprint. It's slower, doesn't hold as much paper, is much less user intuitive when it comes to features and settings. The ink cartridges appear to be the exact same size as the MX920 but, of course, won't work in the TR. Overall, it feels cheaper in quality, too. The paper tray has this ridiculous piece that, quite frankly, I have no idea of its purpose other than it gets in the way and my family members never snap it back in place because its such a pain. This may be the last Canon multi function I have purchased. I think it is time to look at other brands next time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Purchase! I purchased this TR8520 a couple weeks ago and I am very pleased with all of the features it has. This printer is fast !!! compared to my previous 10 year old printer! It was easy to set up, even though it was my first attempt at a wireless hook up. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an upgrade or new printer. I wanted to stay with Canon because I always had good results in the past. When it came time to replace the old with a newer model, I just wanted to make good copies for my home business, and the ability to scan and print nice quality pictures. This one does it all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what we needed!!! This printer/scanner/copier is extremely easy to use. Setting it up was a breeze, it only took a few minutes to have it fully up and running. Both color copies and black copies came out perfect. My son loved making copies of his artwork on it to share with his teachers and friends. The paper feeder on top worked great for making copies of multiple pages. Having the ability to print is my favorite feature on this product. I followed the prompts to connect the printer to my home wifi network (which was really easy to do), and from there it was super easy to print from my desktop, laptop, and smartphone. Every device I wanted to print from showed the printer as available the very first time I tried with nearly no effort on part. It was not necessary for me to download any software which was great because I am always in a hurry. I received a free sample of this product for providing an open and honest review. Before I had this printer, I often had to use a multi-function printer at my office. I struggled every time I needed to print something because that printer would not stay connected to the device. I have had no such issue with this printer. It’s given me my sanity back! I have used the printer about 20 different times over past couple of weeks and I haven’t had problems. This printer is small enough that it sits on my desk next to my computer. I think it is just the right size. I was a little concerned at first that some of the parts that fold in and out where a little bit flimsy but after using it for a bit, I feel much more comfortable with it. I no longer see them as a flaw but more of a convenience since the folding arms keep the printer from taking up more desk space. I find the rear paper feeder to be very convenient. I printed about 80 envelopes using it and had no trouble, each one printed beautifully. When I was making copies, I had a some difficultly figuring out the paper alignment on the glass screen because the labels are dark and hard to read in poor lighting. Once I improved the lighting, I could see things a little bit better. I think it would be a big improvement if these numbers and lines were white or another color that would be easier to see. I found that using the scanner feature to scan documents to be saved on Dropbox and Google Drive was very easy. There was nothing difficult about connecting the device to my accounts (other than remembering my passwords!). My only real complaint with the scanner feature is that it was not compatible with my Mac computers without using a usb cord and one did not come with it. Because of this, I was not able to scan anything to be saved directly on my desktop but could only scan things to be saved in Dropbox or Google. This wasn’t a huge issue but it was somewhat inconvenient. Overall, I LOVE my printer/scanner/copier and I could not be happier to own it. This device has made my life so much easier. No more fighting with a printer early in the morning when trying to get my children’s last minute assignments printed before school! I would definitely recommend this product to my friends and family, I already told some about it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Canon PIXMA TR 8520 Dear Canon; I received the free Canon PIXMA TR 8520 BK Printer for review. I think the printer is a fine piece of equipment especially for a home office. The set up was fairly quick and efficient however I did have some issues connecting my daughter's Google Chromebook but we both believe it was due to the security measures that her school put on the laptop. I love the way the product prints, the quality and speed of the printing. The elements of scanning and faxing worked extremely well too. I really like the Canon Utility app for my Mac. You can do a lot of things ay once. I would definitely recommend this product for a home office or family printer. Only improvements I would consider is that the original setting for my printer, it started to print double-side and it took some time to figure out how to change that format on my Mac but once the problem was solved everything worked smoothly. I would like to thank you for this opportunity to review the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cannon Pixma Printers Going Downhill This is my third all in one Cannon Pixma Printer in 12 years. I loved the first two - and when it was time to replace again I bought the TR8520 three months ago. It makes copies and prints ok - but the scanner is terrible. Blurry and I find myself driving to Kinko's now to scan anything because the quality is so bad. And what is the deal with the new ink cartridges that leak everywhere? I now prep with lots of paper towels but when you remove the protective orange cover, the ink goes everywhere no matter how hard I try to be careful - currently have magenta fingers. I'm so disappointed! One would think you would want to keep improving - not going downhill.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great compact all in one printer This Canon PIXMA TR8520 printer is awesome with its all in one printing, scanning, faxing and copying features. With windows 10, the accompanied CD was not required for installation. The display and instructions on the touchscreen made the setting up process very smooth and easy. One of the features I really like is that I was able to print wirelessly from both ios and android devices. I could print from the android device using google cloud print without having to install the app. The extra black cartidge is a nice addtion and the prints were very clear. Another cool feature is that you can scan and print the back and front of your id on the same page.I printed my driver's license and was impressed. The paper tray holds less than half a ream of paper which is not much of an issue for a compact home printer though I wish it could hold more. Overall with its features and print quality I would recommend this printer. I received this printer for free in exchange for my honest review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Printer! Those that are having issues with the auto off feature and then having to manually turn it back on to print should check your Eco Settings. I had this issue at first and then found this. https://support.usa.canon.com/library/ij/Manual/All/TR8500%20series/EN/UG/ug_o_03_03_22.html#UG_wwp1447239

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Multiple paper feed on the tope I got it up and running on Jan. 14th & it is one of the squeakiest printers I have ever owned. It doesn't compare to my old PIXMA MX700. That copier was a true home/office copier. This one isn't as well built and doesn't have all the features. I sure miss my old copier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good printer but not for everyone Always buy canon printers. Last canon is 5 years old so it was time for a new printer. Had this printer 3 months and there is a months learning curve. Plastic is lighter than old one and replaced black ink with light use and 2 pictures printed. I do love android wifi, I printed a letter from my garage, sitting in my car. I don't like bottom tray, old printer had one back tray for all printing. I would buy again but not for the inexperienced individual.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for home use I received this printer for free in order to provide a review. The product prints very clearly. It performs well for what seems like a more lower priced product. The paper trays are very light and flimsy. The tray does not hold very much paper. The setup was relatively simple. Basically take it out of the box, put in the printer cartridges then set up your computer to find the printer. I did not have to use the disc, I did the entire setup from the Canon website set up page. It walked you through the prompts, so even if you are not tech savy, you will be able to set this printer up. I do like the set up feature on the screen on the printer as well. I first tried setting it up as an extra printer in my office, but my company would not allow the setup of a printer they did not purchase, but most of what I tried to do at work was prompted through the printer itself. When I set it up at home, I used the set up through Canon website. It found my home network, I entered the password and finished the prompts and it was complete. This product seems similar in quality to that of which you would receive free with the purchase of a computer. However, if you are using it for your simple home needs, it is perfect. I printed multiple things, both black and white and color and it performed well. I am not sure if this is a printer for heavy duty office work. Overall, this printer works well and met my expectations of a home printer for normal home use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall nice printer This is generally a nice printer. Good features with the top feed and wireless printing. Prints flawlessly from my iPhone, iPad, MacBook and iMac. Easy enough to connect though the connection process is convoluted. This might be tricky for a novice. The design of the printer leaves me disappointed though. I don’t care for the fact that it shuts itself down and doesn’t auto wake. (This may be in the settings somewhere that I have not fully explored yet). But what really disappointment me is the fact that the front cover panel has to be open in order to print. That in and of itself is the reason I dropped it one star.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good printer questionable scanner I have had this printer for about a month. It prints very well from my iMac on the wireless network. The scanner can't seem to find the computer. I have reinstalled the software and run the supposedly software to fix the issue. No, I do not recommend this printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Printer thats easy to use. I have really enjoyed the Canon pixma TR8520 office all in one printer so far. My husband owns a small computer business out of our home so I have come across my fair share of printers. I was ecstatic when I received this printer as a free sample to review. My husband wanted to make sure I didn't touch anything until he came home to help, but I didn't listen. Set-up was simple, even for someone like me, whose husband does most of the computer set-ups around our home. Ha...not this time. I unpackaged everything and had it up in running in 20 minutes. I had no issues, except for my 2 year old grabbing the top of the ink cover and getting ink all over her hands (my own fault, not canons). My first impression was that the printer was a nice sleek design, and the touch screen is a nice touch (no pun attended). The touchscreen is simple and easy to use. My only issue is that the touchscreen needs to continue to stick out in order to operate. It seems a little awkward sticking out, but that's purely cosmetic and in now way affects the way the printer works. I like that the screen shows how much ink is left in the cartridges. Printing was adequate for an ink printer. Our internet connection is not the greatest so when printing off the web it did take longer. I plugged in the additional cable and it solved that problem. I LOVE the scan feature on this printer. I help lead a Girl Scouts troop and there is a lot of things that I need to scan before meetings and this scanner has been nothing short of amazing. I can load all the papers in the feeder and walk away. Print quality is excellent. Color comes out bright and bold. A few things I didn't care for is that the printer doesn't hold a ton of paper, not a huge deal, but slightly annoying. Also my printer never woke up from sleep mode. I would need to press the power button on the printer every time I went back on and needed to print. Not a huge deal for me because my printer is right next to my computer but could be irritating if your printer is another room. Again this may be my error and not a printer error. I will never use the fax option so have no feedback on that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Poor scanning & poor app Previously super satisfied with Canon PIXMA MX860 & MX880, I had to change machine since Canon stopped updating drivers for new operating systems. The old machines & their software were fabulous. So I purchased the new generation that replaces the others. It’s very noisy. Seems very fragile. One cannot modify the scanning quality (many great scanning capabilities are removed). It would be great if Canon updated the App, but I’ve now lost trust in Canon. I hope Canon makes the software updates & that your experience is better than mine...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fastest printer I've owned I received this printer for free in exchange for my review, but didn't let that factor into my opinion. You see, setting up the Canon Pixma TR8520 printer went pretty smoothly (with the exception of getting blue ink on my fingertip that is still there a week later). But then I tried to connect my phone to the printer. I still don't know what I did wrong or how I did it, but I could NOT connect the two. My husband finally came to my rescue and set it up. After I got connected, my son was excited to print pictures for his "Colony of Delaware" project. The print quality was really good - sharp, not smeared, excellent detail. And, DANG! this is the fastest printer I've ever had. I was really impressed. I'm interested in seeing how long the ink cartridges last and how much replacement cartridges cost. Time will tell ... Bottom line: This is a great printer. Just make sure to carefully read the instructions when setting it up to connect with your smartphone. And try not to touch the ink :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Work/Home Printer I would like to begin by stating I received a free printer in exchange for my review of this product. I used to have an older model PIXMA and this is definitely an improvement. One, I like the sleek electronic panel; the screen is well lit and the buttons easy to read. I also like the sleek design of this new model vs. the older one. This model is a bit more compact, although they weigh about the same. The print quality is a bit better, the colors appear to be more vivid. The last thing I really like is how quietly the printer prints. The older model was quite noisy and this one is much quieter. If I had one complaint, it would be that I will now need to purchase two additional printer cartridges (this one requires four) vs the standard two, which could become costly over time. Other than that, I see this PIXMA as an upgrade from the previous models and believe it will be a quality addition to anyone`s work or home office needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not the easiest thing to install....at all The last Canon printer that I owned was awesome but it finally died & of course, that model was discontinued. I bought this one. It took me HOURS to install. I finally gave up & let my nephew do it for me. It was not a simple plug and play situation at all. We were never able to get it to work wireless. It feels flimsy & I'm betting it won't be long before the front of it breaks. That's because it lifts up. If the front breaks, then it's done because that's where all the functional features are located. Maybe if you're a computer whiz, this would be a great printer for you, but if you're just a regular person who needs a printer/scanner....maybe you should think twice. I regret buying this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy setup, high quality prints, fast scans I work from home so I do a lot of scanning and printing, so I was excited to receive this free sample printer/scanner/fax for me to review. First, the scanning feature is great! I can scan a stack of pages relatively quickly using the auto-feeder. The scanner is also quiet. I don’t worry about being on the phone and scanning at the same time. Second, the printer was easy to setup via Wi-Fi and my smartphone; less than 5 minutes and I was up and running. The printing quality is really good. I printed off some pictures of my toddler and they were very clear and the colors were spot on. It has a photo paper slot at the back of the printer, so I don’t have to keep swapping out photo paper and regular paper. I would definitely recommend this printer to a home office user, or a home user looking for quality scans and quick prints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Device connectivity for the win! I received this product for free in exchange for providing an honest review. Set-up for this product was a breeze! Less than 20 minutes and I had it calibrated and linked to my devices for wireless printing. This is an all-in-one printer but really, I use the product for just printing, copying and scanning. It works beautifully. I'd expect no less from Canon and they haven't disappointed. My favorite feature is the ability to print documents and images straight off my cell phone. It may seem minor but it's so convenient. I will say I do wish it were more compact in size though. By no means is it a huge hulk of a machine but I do expect things to be a bit more streamlined nowadays. I haven't been using it long enough to have to worry about replacement cartridges and I'll admit I was skeptical about pricing once I saw I'd be installing 6 different cartridges into the printer. A quick online search soothed those worries though as I see cartridges are affordable. It's a delight to have a color printer again and I'm excited to try printing photos soon. I'd recommend this product to anyone looking for an all-in-one printer that's user friendly and a good value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointing Printer Bought this printer to replace an aging PIXMA model based on positive reviews. Could not be more disappointed. As other recent reviewers have mentioned, the overall sturdiness of the printer is not the same as in prior models and the scanning function doesn't allow you to choose scan quality or size of image. It also doesn't wake from sleep when you send something to print. So unless you are right next to it to turn the power button on, when you print something through a wireless connection it gives a printer error which defeats the point of wireless use! However, my biggest issue is that the printer often displays a "Printing" message on its screen even after the print job is done. Which prevents future print jobs from printing. It may be a software issue vs. the printer, but I hope Canon can resolve that soon! Overall, I wish I had kept the old PIXMA!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great printer / scaner Previously used a MX922 for several years, but soon poor black print. Upgraded via phone with Canon.com. Many excellent great features on the TR8520, including smaller size, perfect printing, fairly quick, etc. Auto duplex printing is great (like the old MX922 but this printer does not have an auto duplex scan, only manual duplex scan. (The older MX922 did have both auto duplex print and scan.) Would be 5 star if TR8520 had both auto duplex print and scan. Some other minor issues like output tray does not catch paper automatically. (the MX922 did) Great printer otherwise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy setup. Included ink still good. Set up on my home WiFi network. Did it all through the Canon printer. Didn’t find my WiFi right away till moved it closer. Once on system I moved printer back to original location and all is well. Print and copy quality excellent. Copy reduction and enlargement shows on screen. Nice cause it saves paper and nerves. Having to pop up control panel to use is a pain and a little flimsy but ok if not rough with it. Happy overall after one month. Reccomend three year service contract. These things just don’t last for me. Save box as they pay freight both ways and communication very good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great printer for the price. I have only had this printer for a couple of weeks. It was easy to install and get going. My only issue right now is that when I try to print it tells me the printer is offline and an error message comes up. It will eventually print after I mess around a little. My husband has not had this problem. I think the print tray is a little flimsy and the paper tray does not hold a lot of paper, but neither are deal breakers. The price was good and the print quality is very good. Overall I am pretty happy with this printer. I am not giving it 5 stars because I have not owned it long enought o see how it will hold up over time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for small home office! I absolutely love this printer. I received it for free, in exchange for a real and honest review. Working from home, I need a printer that can do more than one thing for me at a time. This printer was able to handle my copying, printing, scanning and faxing needs with no problems. It took all of 5 minutes to set up, and inserting the ink cartridges was very easy. I have scanned and printed quite a few documents and even pictures, and my ink cartridges are still moderately full. I gave away my old printer since this one works so much better. Highly recommended for small to medium home office, or even a typical household for homework assignments etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You can do everything from your phone! I would like to disclose that I did receive this printer in exchange to make a review. Overall, I enjoyed several features of the printer but depending on your printer demands, the printer may not fit within the needs of your office. This printer has great printer quality, its lightweight and I most enjoyed the ability to print remotely from my phone. The product was easy to assemble. The hardware assembly was very swift. Print in the plug and you're done. The compact design was awesome. Not bulky; it fits neatly on my desk vs my other printer has to be on the floor. I made the decision to connect via wireless. The app was easy to download from the app store. I ran into a little confusion because the directions that came with the printer didn't correlate with the instructions from the app. The ink install was not complicated at all. The ink labels/colors matched with the design on the printer, so I could see where the cartridges would fit. Altogether, it was a breezy process. The printer definitely met my expectations regarding printing quality. I printed both text and photos and the ink was evenly distributed and uniform. I also use the scanner and it works great also. Didn't use the fax at all but it seems easy to do. I like the monitor menu interface. Very clean and easy to read. I do have some cons however, the printing speed was slower than I'm used to and the paper holding tray doesn't hold alot of paper. I am a teacher and for my home office, I can go through a whole ream of paper in a day. This printer is awesome for pictures and great for light loads of printing. But overall, I enjoyed this print. I liked the ease of use of this device and how I can print & scan all from my phone. Would most definitely recommend this printer for people with normal home office activity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall typical printer I received this printer in exchange for a review. Overall this is a typical printer. Packaging was typical for a printer and easy to unpack. Instructions weren’t bad but had a little trouble getting software installed for use. After it was installed was able to get to work with out much issue. Probably more me then Canon. Product is typical size and in my opinion had typical print quality. Printer features were on par with most other printers I have owned. Interface was easy to navigate and had no issues. My biggest concern for any printer I have owned is ink prices. I typically print a lot and find most printers ink is too expensive for the number of items I am able to print. I have not made it through an entire print cartridge yet in this printer so I am not sure yet if the price will be worth it. I personally find the pricing to be on par with other inks. I did like the wireless capabilities as well. Overall typical printer decent quality and features.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Printer that fits my needs I was looking to try how the new Canon Pixma Printer was working, so I requested it and I received it for free in exchange for my opinion. It came very well packed. Unpacking the printer and installing the ink cartridges was pretty easy with clear to fellow pictures and instructions. I made WiFi connection (no cable mess around) and I installed the software on my computer and Android tablet. Installing process was easy to follow instructions. The printer is fast. After some time it turns off itself automatically by default and when I tried to print again I have to turn it on manually. To prevent this, have to go to settings/eco/energy saving settings, and turn on the auto power on. It is very convenient that the front panel can be tilted. I like the document feeder, just put a bunch of paper sheets and it scans them one by one automatically. Well, it is definitely the high-quality product.

I the owner small e commerce business, and I print shipping labels everyday. TR8520 is so EASY to set up. I was shocked. The instructions are given to you on the moniter. I downloaded the free canon app for the wireless print ,and it works like a dream. I can print from my phone which makes my packing time go by in a breeze. Sometimes I feel like the printer is my assistant (if only it could do my work). I also print wireless from my mac book . I have no problem connecting my devices to the printer The print quality is impeccable. Im very impressed. The moniter flips up so I dont have to break my back trying to see what I am doing. The scanner works quick, and gets the job done. I dont use fax much since most people scab and email but I did hook it up and that as well was easy. To top it off it turns off by itself when its not in use. I am overally satisfied with the Pixma TR8520, and highly recommend it. I never knew how much a printer could change my work life for the better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Going Downhill Fast I previously had a Canon Pixma MX870 that I loved. I bought the TR8520 because I needed a printer with AirPrint. I am tremendously disappointed by how cheap and poorly designed the TR8520 is compared to my old MX870. It feels like a cheap piece of plastic. Every time I touch it I expect something to break. The lid, paper cassette and the tray that catches your printed pages are all flimsy and cheap. And, then there is also the decline in functionality. When I used to print something on my old Canon printer, the printer would automatically wake-up and print; this printer must be manually awakened. The tray that catches the pages you print would automatically open when I printed on my old Canon; the new Canon must be manually opened. This new printer is set to print everything double-sided and I can't figure out how to permanently change it to single-sided because the interface is so poor. Everything about this new Canon printer is inferior to my old one. It should be the other way around, right? The printer business must be a business where cost is everything and quality is less important. That is the only explanation that I can come up with to explain why Canon has gone so far backward so fast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WORST PRINTER EVER Over the last 15 years I have owned 3 canon printers. They have all been great. This one is complete junk. Maybe it's great for those that want to print selfies from their phone but i am working on an ancestry project, trying to scan photos and documents and it is impossible. I'm sitting here in tears wondering how mad my husband will get when i throw this this printer through the window. It takes 3 - 5 minutes to scan a simple picture or document. I'm going to be dead before I can finish anything on with this printer. ONce there scanned good luck finding them, then once you find them good luck trying to name and save them where you want them. ON A SCALE OF 1-10 WITH 10 BEING THE BEST I WOULD GIVE THIS A NEGATIVE 9. BUT ONE STAR IS AS LOW AS I CAN GO SO ONE STAR IT IS.

A lot of people really like them, the photos were great etc. Perhaps it's how I'm using the printer, but the photos are not as good- rich etc. When I change cartridges - according to the instructions, there is alway a few drops of ink on the paper and plastic sometimes getting on my hands- H/P cartridges are sealed until you install. The paper support tray- after printing is too narrow, dumping paper on the floor. I'm just not that impressed.

In terms of use cases, I am a writer and a homeschooling mom, so I rarely need to use printers for graphics-intensive documents or printing pictures, but I do print a lot of worksheets and documents to review. I need a printer that is fast & easy to use, since there is always a lot of chaos in my house. Copying and scanning capability is also important to me. Pros of the Canon Pixma TR8520 1. Setup was very easy. I had a five-year-old helping ("Let me do it!"), and I was able to quickly read through the manual and give him directions, and he was able to do most of the actual work. 2. Getting everything connected to the home network so I could print from my laptop worked well -- the setup process takes you directly to the online manual, and there are big icons for all of the common things you want to do. 3. The operation panel is sturdy and responsive. I was a bit worried, since you have to use the operation panel in its folded-out state (picture attached), that it would constantly be buckling or you wouldn't be able to press it hard enough for it to register. However, the screen is responsive and the panel is slightly "locked" in place, so this system works well. 4. Menus on the printer itself are intuitive and easy to use. I like to make enlarged copies, and I was able to find this function right away without having to consult the manual. Similarly, the scanning menu gives you several options and makes it clear exactly where documents are going to go (plus integrates with Drive, Dropbox, etc. which is great for my business needs). Cons: 1. While the operation panel is sturdy for use in its folded-out position, that and the paper tray do stick out quite a bit from the front of the printer. Not so much of a problem in a quiet office, but with kiddos running around I do have some worries about whether those are going to last long-term. 2. Supposedly the printer is supposed to kick on from its offline state when you start a print job (without having to get up and go press the on button), but I wasn't able to make that work. Overall, a very solid and reliable printer for my needs -- doesn't seem to be sucking up ink unreasonably fast, and does what I want it to do when I want to do it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ink guzzler This printer consumes ink at an alarming rate. Just about every week I get a pop up stating that I am low on ink, many times with color ink cartridges even though most of my printing is black and white in draft mode. I just bought some XL cartridges and noticed they are physically the same size as the regular cartridges. Canon needs to make these the "standard" cartridges and quit playing games with us. I have now spent more money on ink in 4 months than I did all last year using a different brand printer. Very disappointing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from NOT TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY... Just purchased this printer. It took awhile, plus help from my local retailer, to get it installed. So, I don't have much experience with the printer yet. However, this is not a printer to have if you have cats in your household. There's enough room for a cat to get their head IN the printer while it is printing. We'll both learn how to manage that, however I probably wouldn't buy it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Piece of junk I am surprised that Canon would actually want their name on this particular printer. It is made cheaply, the touch screen is even flimsy, it is slow, it repeatedly gives "no paper" errors over and over and over, no matter what...Do not recommend this product at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolute Garbage My HP all-in-one printer lasted for 13 years, this printer didn't even last 13 months. I did get a great cyber Monday deal but clearly you get what you pay for. Cannon is consistently out of ink and when you don't buy through Cannon the counterfeit message will not let you print. I have spent hours troubleshooting to no avail.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Positioning this as a successor to the MX 920 / 922 is a bad joke On the product page for the PIXMA TR 8520, Canon has prominently featured a video showing the Pixma MX 922 essentially evolving into the 8520. Don't you believe it. I had an MX 922, which, after 5 years of flawless service, I was looking to replace. It finally failed = not due to mechanical issues - a 70 pound desk tipped over and fell on it. That's what it took, to remove the 5 star, high quality MX 922 from service. By contrast, the TR 8520 is built so that a stiff breeze would blast it apart. Everything - and I mean - *everything* flexes, under minimal pressure. The plastic its universally made from is cardboard thin - from the paper sheet feeder (which holds about 1/5th of the capacity of the MX 922; to the *lid support* for the scanning assembly (which can't even hold the lid up on a level, it's bending under normal use); to the ADF scanner (which, unlike the MX 922, does not duplex scan. You have to continually flip pages) This printer could not be more clearly engineered to fail, after a year of light use, if it had a label on it saying so. My guess is that the MX 920/922 series were *too* successful. Being built like tanks, and with 3rd party inks available, the razor blade model of inkjet printers / OEM inks at a premium wasn't working with the MX for Canon. The result is this cynical TR 8520 , which is guaranteed to need replacement shortly after 3rd parties crack the ink cartridge authentication / encryption. I own a great deal of Canon camera equipment, and have always been well pleased by their quality commitment. Not here. I returned it the same day i opened it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Will not print in draft mode with my MacBook Pro After purchasing and setting up the TR8520 a couple of years ago, I was shocked to discover no available option for printing in draft mode with my MacBook Pro. Obviously, not every print job requires the highest quality setting! Moreover, not only does the ink run out quickly, but it is also exceedingly expensive. Of course, that's likely the whole idea from a profit strategy point of view. Over time, I have concluded that it would be more cost effective to dispose of this printer than to continue buying ink, as I have already spent several times over the original cost of the printer on Canon cartridges!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Decent Printer for the Price Works well overall, like the double side printing. Sometimes takes a bit of time from when I send the print job from the computer until the printer starts printing. Also sounds like it is struggling, but that seems to be just the way the printer works and then the prints come out fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not worth the hassle Print quality is fine, but only when you can get it to print. Most of the time it is offline (and you have to reconnect to the wifi network) and currently it says printer is out of paper (it's not). There are no self-help tools built in and hours have been spent trying to get it to print. I'm ready to donate it and buy another brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PIXMA TR8520 I purchased this printer about a year ago as I had to replace my PIXMA MX870 which I loved do to how easy it was to use. I purchased the TR850 thinking it would be similar to the MS870 which it is not. The TR850 is more difficult in that there are to many more settings and questions to answer and the scanning is more complicated. I don't like that you don't have an option to print in just "black" as grayscale uses your color ink. However, when the color ink is gone you can print until all the black ink cartridges are empty. Bottom line is, I haven't been that satisfied with the TR8520 and ordered an HP printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pictures, horribly constructed I am very disappointed in this printer and am weighing the cost of returning it against the frustration of trying to find another good printer. We have used PIXMA printers for years, and had to replace our most recent after about 8 years. This new printer still prints excellent pictures, but it is the flimsiest, cheapest, plastic-y one yet. We bought a new HP Envy first, and it was sophisticated, compact and beautifully designed with a fantastic app and interface to use. However, it printed terrible pictures. So we returned and got this. I am sorely disappointed that the only ADF/duplex printers you can get from Canon are so poorly made and yet still print excellent quality pictures and graphics.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy except for multi-paper feed I purchased this printer over a year ago and it has been 100% reliable. It does go through ink a little faster than I would have liked, and it is a bit annoying as it tells you the ink is low when it reaches about 25%, every time you print, so way before you need to change the cartridge. Printing is fast and quiet. Changing the ink cartridges is very easy. My only gripe is the multi-page document feeder. It grabs more than one page at a time, forcing me to start over and over again, then finally feed the pages in one at a time. It didn't seem to do this when I first got it so maybe it is a wear and tear issue. Size of the machine is good, set up was easy, wifi functions work as expected. Once in a while the printer loses its connection to the computer or phone so has to re-set itself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Using the Tr8520 with an Ipad When using an IPad, the printer works better if you hard wire it to your router. It would not stay connected otherwise. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sorry to Have to Write This! After a very difficult start-up lasting several months and finally requiring assistance from Canon, I have had this printer working for about four months of light use. I am shocked at the poor rate at which ink tanks need replacement. I rarely need to print in color. I mam back to Walmart buying ink about every 2 months. Never had this problem with five previous Canon printers. I suspect Canon is either including less ink in the cartridges of they are smaller. It's annoying to see the low-ink notices beginning within a week or two of replacing them all, after only twenty or so sheets run through the printer. I will be hunting for a replacement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does not live up to MX922 - should NOT be compared as it's replacement After many years of dedicated service, my MX922 showed up with an error code that could not be fixed (and believe me, I tried HARD to fix it). Heartbroken and devastated, I searched Canon's website to find what surely should be an upgrade to an amazing product. I was dumbfounded that nothing matched or beat my previous machine. So after reading several reviews, I settled on this one. While the machine itself is "fine", when compared to its predecessor, it's severely lacking. NOTHING about this is easier or better; quite frankly the opposite. The scanner doesn't load several pages, the canon driver (with printing presets) can't be used on a Mac, you have to load paper from the back, it won't print unless the flap is up (so forget being downstairs and air printing from your device unless that flap is UP). If I didn't need a printer so badly, I'd consider giving it back. I hope someone from Canon reads this and BRINGS BACK A PRODUCT ON PAR WITH THE 922!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nothing but trouble When it works it is fine. However, it often just decides to quit working. I try to print from my PC and it says printer off line. It's not offline, I just printed 30 minutes ago and it worked fine. It also has a mind of it's own. It will give a message that the paper in the rear feeder is the wrong type. I don't use the back feeder, it decided to try to use it. It asks if I want to print anyway and I say yes. It gives me the same message. I gives me messages for double sided printing. I didn' ask for double sided, it decided to try to print double sided. I waste a lot of time fighting with the printer to try to get it to do what I want. Wouldn't have another Canon 8520 if Canon paid me to get it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Over-built 1. the software has features (e.g., image garden that just take up space and confuse me... and are not any kind of replacement for PhotoShop, Lightroom, etc. When you scan, set up where you want to park the file and name it before you scan, or it puts it wherever it likes and names it with your last title. 2. Recently, the printer started kicking out up to 20 copies of documnets I'd only aksed for one of. Then it would rest for an hour and spit out 8 more. I could not clear the queue... there was nothing in it. Canon support said it was an issue with my computer (a four-month-old Dell xps i7). 3. My first Pixma was a dream, and ran perfectly for about 8 years, so I thought this one would be the same. Nope.
