Epson Expression ET-2700 EcoTank All-in-One - multifunction printer - color is rated4.07 out of5 by59.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Freedom from ink cartridges!?My interest in this all-in-one device is mainly due to its unusual (if not novel) printer ink delivery system. Replacing cartridges is the bane of every inkjet printer user because of cost; but what I hate most is having to run to get a cartridge just as I need to print something very important. This printer offers the promise of vast numbers of pages printed before needing to replace the ink.In the box: printer, power cable, set up software optical disk, QuickStart instructions, and initial ink supply. Not included is a USB printer cable, so if Wi-Fi set up doesn’t work for you at first, or you don't have a WiFi network available, you’re going to have to provide your own cable for setup (and printing). The printer itself is made of standard consumer grade plastic. It is not particularly heavy but seems sturdy enough. Fit and finish are in-line with entry level consumer grade electronics. There were no rough edges, squeaky hinges, ill fitting covers, or rattling mysteries. Everything that needed to snap into place did so without having to be forced, and did not come loose afterwards. After several weeks of use I have seen no scuffs or discoloration of the unit. There is no Touch screen interface, and there is no LCD screen. Clearly-labeled and easily-depressed buttons are front and center. There is no card reader for file printing, but remote printing is easily accomplished (see below), which softens the blow.Set up was delightful, unexpectedly--simple, quick, painless. My biggest fear was making an enormous mess putting the ink into the printer. However, I was able to transfer all four bottles of black and colored ink in the printer without a single drop spilled. At first I had some apprehension that I would put the wrong color in a reservoir, but I note that each bottle's nozzle is matched to its accompanying reservoir by shape, and each color's shape is different. Ink supplied with the printer filled each of the CMYK reservoirs completely--no chintzy supplied ink here!!Driver set up was painless. I was able to set up by using software downloaded from Epson's website on both a PC and Mac (link included with printer--optical media copy included as backup). Connecting the printer to the WiFi network only needed to be done once, with WiFi Direct, and "handshake“ occurred without a problem the first time I tried.Print quality is quite good. Even using standard multipurpose paper, colors are rich, blacks are inky, and I I note no bleeding. There has been no difficulty in the ink feed system, something I also worried about. Distribution of the ink has been uniform without any faded spots or dropouts. Sharpness will never match laser printing, but it is quite acceptable and output held at reading distance is comfortable to read. Speed of the printer is as rated, both for image – heavy and text-only pages. Paper feed never once jammed through printing several hundred pages thus far. The paper feed holds disappointing 100 pages at once and standard thickness letter paper, so those to print throughout the day or routinely have large print jobs may want to think twice about purchasing this printer. I have not tried stock of the regular size or thickness so cannot comment on that. Printing is single-sided only.Controlling the printer via computer or iOS app is simple. If a connection has to be made between the printer and the remote device, it has thus far been seamless, as I have noted no delay in printing after sending a command. With Internet connectivity, printing remotely has easily accomplished. The printer works acceptably as a an occasional scanner. The scanning service will hold large flat originals, and easily, accommodated an open book. There is no document feeder, so those who need to scan large batches of papers should look elsewhere. Scanning is single-sided, of course. In short, this all-in-one device is a very competent printer with robust network connectivity, with perfectly acceptable scanning. Is it a good value? Similarly-equipped models with ink cartridges rather than reservoirs cost 50% less, but the price of replacement cartridges eat that up over time. If it prints as many pages as advertised using its initial ink supply, then I will be able to say yes, resoundingly. This is a review for the Epson Expression ET-2700 EcoTank All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for price! The Epson Expression ET-2700 is a great bang for your buck product. It has a lot of cool features and prints very clear. My favorite feature is the ink tank in the front of the printer. Unlike other printers when you only find out you’re out of ink by printing a gray blob. The Epson Expression ET-2700 allows you to know ahead of time, get ink, and prepare for that next print job. You can print and scan via phone, laptop, or anything connected to Wi-Fi thanks to Epson’s app. A con I would give is that the USB cable to set up wirelessly isn’t included. Honestly, it’s kind of funny that a wireless set up would require a wire in the first place. However, the printer makes up for it in a majority of other ways. It’s a solid product and worth buying. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Printer, Great Ink!The Epson ET-2700 is a wireless 3-in-one (print/copy/scan) printer with easy-to-fill ink tanks. Epson claims that the printer comes with up to 2 years of ink in the box (equivalent to 30 ink cartridges). The 4 refill ink bottles are less expensive than typical ink cartridges. The ET-2700 offers wireless printing/scanning for Windows and Macintosh computers as well as tablets and smartphones. All printer specifications and Manuals can be found here:https://epson.com/For-Home/Printers/Inkjet/Expression-ET-2700-EcoTank-All-in-One-Supertank-Printer/p/C11CG24201Initial Ink Installation:The initial ink installation is a 2-stage process. You first empty a bottle of ink into one of four tanks (one for each color), and then start the printer to allow the charging of the ink system. The entire bottle is not used during first stage. After completion (about 10 minutes) you fill the tanks with the remaining ink. The ink is a liquid, and if you are not careful, you may spill the ink or get it on your hands or clothes. If you do get it on your hands or clothes, it may not come out. Epson suggests wearing gloves.Installation:A standard USB printer cable is necessary for the initial configuration. The cable is NOT included. If you want to use this printer with a network that only has non-computer devices, you will need to use a supported computer OS with a USB cable attached, for the initial setup only. There does not seem to be a way to setup this WiFi printer for the first time without using a USB cable. The first thing I did was to use the included documentation which suggested to install all of the correct drivers from their website, rather than using the included CD-ROM. I ran the Epson Installation program on my iMac running MacOS 10.13.After installing the utilities and drivers, I ran the update program and it downloaded several updated utilities as well as the printer firmware. I’m not sure why the web site did not have all of the most current available for download using the basic download directions posted on the site. I have seen this behavior when installing other Epson products. When doing the printer firmware upgrade, it said it finished successfully, but according to the printer status page, the firmware update did get updated.I separately ran the Epson Firmware Updater (version 3.6.6) and it failed to find the printer. I tried twice without success. I finally did use the printer’s Web interface to do a successful firmware update. The printer only supports the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band, so if you only have a 5.0 GHz router, you will need to enable a 2.4 GHz radio, or connect the printer via the USB connection only. The driver installation failed twice at the point where it was trying to discover the printer’s IP address. What I discovered later is that the printer had indeed gotten an IP address, but the Epson installation software was unable to find the printer on the network. I found this interesting, because I was able to use the IOS app to see the printer, and the IP address was assigned OK. Later I just used the “Add Printer” options in the MacOS System Preferences to select drivers and use the printer. The Mac OS System Prefs had no problem seeing and adding the new printer, and installing the correct drivers. I confirmed this problem both on a different Mac running OSX 13,as well as an older Mac running Mac OS 10.6.x. In each case the Epson installation software seemed to install everything but then failed to discover the printer on the network at that point in the installation. Oh – and yes, all devices are on the same network segment.Printing/Scanning from the Computer:All printing and scanning functions worked as expected. You use the standard print commands and just make sure you select the correct printer or scanning device. Epson provides a scanning program (Epson Scan 2), or you can just use the normal scan tools provided with the MacOS.Printing from IOSI used the Epson iPrint app for IOS. I selected the printer and the desired options. Printing was pretty slow to a 4 x 6 photo paper but the output was pretty good, although a little bit pinker in flesh colors than my HP All-in-one. For normal printing it also worked well from my iphone.Misc. Comments- If you don’t have a compatible computer, and just have a tablet or cell phone, you probably cannot set up the printer for first use. (No USB cable possible).- Having the large ink tanks are a nice feature, but it also means that you can easily get ink on your hands and on the printer when refilling the tanks. The manual suggests using gloves. But, if the ink lasts as long as they say, this is a real win for the typical expensive ink problem that we all face.- The included Mac printer drivers does not allow the user to see the ink status on the screen (it says it’s unavailable.) The documentation says you should just look at the clear plastic side of the four tanks to see the approximate ink level.- There was an issue as to whether this product has a built-in duplexer (print double sided output automatically). I couldn’t get it to work, and the FAQ and documentation have different answers. It seems, so does tech support. I asked the question and the first time the response said it did have a duplexer, and the second said it did NOT have one. The option in the printer dialog is grayed out. I was not able to make it work. [ ET-2700 Documentation and Website are incorrect. It is ET-2750 that has the duplexer ]- Does not have a sheet feeder for the scanner- Documentation shows that you can remove the rear cover in case of a paper jam, but the printer does not have the tabs mentioned in the documentation, and the back does not appear to be removable.- If you forget to pull out the output tray (which is on the front of the printer), all of your printed paper ends up on the floor.- Does not have a separate photo tray, so you must use the one paper feed for all paper types and sizes.- Epson needs to review its’ Mac installation programs for errors, and provide installation tools that do not fail.- Unlike other printers of this type where they charge a low price for the printer, and then get you with expensive cartridge prices for the rest of the printers’ life, Epson has made the total cost very affordable. The printer costs a little more, but the ink is actually cheaper than most other cartridges, but also lasts a very long time. I saw the price for the ink bottles at CDW listed as $13.99 for the three colored inks and black for $19.99 (larger bottle).- It supports only the 2.4 GHz band for WiFi. It does not have an Ethernet port.Summary:This is a nice basic printer that I believe will provide an economical method of printing a variety of paper types and sizes as well as photos. It can double as a home copy machine, and its’ print speed is adequate for most users. The use of bottled ink that lasts a very long time, coupled with the inexpensive refill bottles is a real win for the end-user that uses the printer for lots of output. This is a review for the Epson Expression ET-2700 EcoTank All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little printerI love the idea of this EcoTank printer. No ink cartridges to buy and possibly dry out. This printer comes with 4 separate bottles of ink that you pour into reservoirs during set-up. They claim the ink can last up to 2 years right out of the box! That's awesome as I hate constantly running out of ink.The reason that I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that setup was ridiculously long and complicated. I had a very hard time getting it to connect to my Wi-Fi. Any other printer I have owned has been really simple to connect to Wi-Fi, but not this one! I finally had to find an old printer USB cable, and even that didn't work the first time. I finally ended up getting it to connect with the USB.Setup aside, this printer really is awesome! The print quality is very good. I tested it by printing some pictures, and you would never know that they were printed at home and not by a professional printing service. All in all, even though I had some difficulty getting it setup, I would still recommend this printer. It prints amazing pictures, and the thought of not having to buy ink for the next years is amazing! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looking forward to saving moneyThe ET-2700 was purchased from Amazon at an amazing price. I was able to properly fill the tanks with no mess or spills. The only advice I will give potential buyers is to toss the DVD in the recycling box and download the installer from the website. tried twice with the DVD and it failed both times. The downloaded installation package was quick and easy to install.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ink goes a long ways! This is a review for the Epson Expression ET-2700 EcoTank All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review. After testing the ET-2700, I've found it works...really well... It has some great features, but a few hiccups as well.## The Good ##1. Good scanning2. Built-in OCR PDF export, the built-in OCR scanning software is amazingly fast and accurate (only on desktop).3. Very accurate automated rotation, adjusting, hole punch removal, and deskew, among other good settings.4. Great image quality, it goes up to 1200DPI and looks great.5. Small files created at higher DPI, even with 600DPI it created small image file sizes and PDFs.6. Quick printing, but it could be faster.7. Holds a good amount of paper8. Ink filling was super easy and quick9. Ink goes a very long way10. Prints great photos on glossy paper and regular.11. Wireless setup from mobile was easy.12. Soft matte style finish instead of fingerprint absorbing gloss coats.13. Easy Google Cloud print setup and epson connect email setup.14. Smartphone sees the printer without any issues.## The Bad ##1. No screen for displaying info.2. Software is not very good, already had the whole Epson suite from previous Epson scanners and printers, but none would recognize the scanner on this until I installed all the software again.3. No SD Print slot.4. Printing under “Matte Paper” setting distorts all the colors and black comes out as a dark green instead of black (tried printing with normal settings on the same matte paper and it printed perfect so it’s a settings issue).5. It’s quite larger, it’s taller than the other All-in-One I have and it’s bulky looking compared to it.6. Can only scan 1 side and 1 piece at a time.7. Lights stay on bright, even at night after long standy time of 24 hours.8. Longer than expected wait time for print after selecting print on phone and computer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Home PrinterFor the past week I have been using the Epson Expression ET-2700 EcoTank All-in-One Printer printer as my primary home printer. Typically I use it for printing emails, office documents and coupons. In all of the above tasks the printer worked as one would expect. I printed from my laptop, as well as my phone using google cloud print, and it worked flawlessly. One feature that I appreciated was the ability to choose color vs black & white from my mobile device. My old printer gave the option, but always printed in color. The Epson handled the color selection correctly every time. Not sure if this is related to the setup or functionality of the google cloud print, but it was a welcome surprise. The setup was the same as any other printer, however this one comes with ink bottles that you pour into the tanks with specialty fit nozzles on the top of the ink bottles. On the bottles it claims that each one is keyed and will not overflow or spill, etc. I was a little unsure and apprehensive loading the ink, figuring it would spill everywhere, but each one worked great and I didn’t spill a drop.As mentioned earlier I’ve only had this printer a week, but so far so good, it has become my new main printer in my house. The ink levels haven’t budged for the past week, so it appears that the ink will hold up as long as it claims. One thing I don’t particularly care for is the paper sticks out the top back of the printer, behind the scanner deck perpendicular to the scanner deck. I normally like the tray fed paper where it is tucked inside the printer. It isn’t a deal breaker more of an annoyance than anything. Rated 5 out of 5 by from pson Expression ET-2700 EcoTank All-in-One PrinterEpson Expression ET-2700 EcoTank All-in-One PrinterMight be the best printer I've ever owned!  I mostly print for personal uses here at home.   I don't do much business printing with my personal printer.  So, with that said,  I haven't had any big print jobs as of yet.  However, the small print jobs that I have completed,  have certaily met my expectations.  It's av great all in one printer. Print/ Copy/Scan. My favorite feature though, is that I can print from my phone or tablet. Mobile friendly,  wireless printing!   I feel like I'm living in the future.... ha haThe set up was fairly easy.   Please take your time and read all the set-up directions. You will need to install software so don't be in a hurry.  It will be worth your time.  It comes with two years worth of ink!   I know,  unheard of, right?   Not anymore!  Also,  when you do have to replace the ink, it's much less expensive than other ink you've bought in the past. This is a cartridge free printer.  You'll be surprised. This printer is very user friendly.  Has fast printing and great quaitly printing. It will not disappoint! This is a review for the Epson Expression ET-2700 EcoTank All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.
