Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome scannerI am more that pleased with this scanner. I am scanning old neatuves and slides that are many sizes .. Some of the older odd size slides and negatives I was able to made fit in slide trays or trim them. Yes I am an amateur an only want my photos for Sentimental Reasons and a few photographs for an album I am more than pleased with the results they are very good quality after touch up with my photo software easy to use. It would of cost me much more than the cost of the scanner to developer all my negatives . Some negatives that I scanned I had no idea if I even knew who the person or place was and was happy I did not wast a lab fee to develope some of them.. I would definitely recommend it ...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality pictures, easy to use, fast and dependableI have used it for a year, primarily on thousands of slides and a number of photos. It was easy to setup and operate. The finished product is superb and easy to bring into the computer. It is a good product and easily does all it is supposed to do

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great scanner......bad softwareI am scanning all different sorts of media and have found that the scanner does a very nice job. My only complaint is the software. The Epson softwares interface looks like it was created in the 90's and is very clunky. It does do a decent job if you have a clean image to scan. The included 3rd party software is certainly more comprehensive but again seems outdated and there is no support to speak of unless you want to make a long distance call to the UK. Epson phone support was terrible and they even gave me the incorrect information.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from V800 bad "out of the box"The unit was faulty upon delivery (tech said indications were bad hardware) and Epson offered to replace it with a REFURBISHED unit. Nuts! I sent it back to Amazon, and they sent a new one, First Day Air.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Capable UnitThe V800 installed easily and without issue. Unlike a few of the Epson printers I've bought, it hasn't had any issues. Let's hope that continues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic scannerThe Epson Perfection V800 Photo Color Scanner is even better than I expected. Unless you are a professional photographer tweaking every aspect of your images, this scanner will exceed your needs and your expectations. It is fast and easy to use, and the automatic scanning functions produced better images than some professional scanning software I tried as a comparison.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Driver update neededMy Apple system keeps telling me that the Epson software driver is out of date, needs an update. I just went to the Epson website and downloaded the latest driver/utilities for my Epson V800 Photo scanner but it appears that update still does not meet the Apple requirements. Unfortunate!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ScannerI like this scanner very much. It offers up extreme quality scans. The only negative that I have to offer is that the film holders are very difficult to use. Their design is problematic. Apart from being very time consuming to load film into and get it seated properly, usually one edge of the film strip is cut off (in 35mm and 120 format).I prefer to have the entire area around the image area to be included in the scan. I'd very much like Epson to come up with a better system and offer them as a replacement to the ones included with my scanner. I would add that all of my scanning thus far has only been film, so film holder improvement would be a tremendous asset to me. Thank you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent scanner. Produces great quality scans.Pricey but you get what you pay for. Included Epson software is good but not great. Included Silverfast software is very good but not user friendly. Takes effort to learn how to use but once you figure it out, it produces great scans. Would rate it a 4 because of the software but there isn't anything better out there. Tried Vuescan: not as fast nor as good as Silverfast. Could have bought the less expensive model but it just didn't have the features, software was not as good and the scans were not as sharp. This is the one to buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great scanner for the money! This is an wonderful improvement over the Epson 4870 Photo scanner which I used before. It is not a drum scanner but I am not printing billboard size work. It scans beautifully, albeit noisily. I LOVE that I can scan film without a film carrier. Because of that I can select which frames and where on the glass I position them and can scan several images on different strips at a time. Excellent software interface. No hitches, no glitches.Yay!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extraordinary quality.I purchased this to scan vintage black and white negatives; film and glass. The negatives are of every size. The scanner produces scans of exceptionally high quality. It has taken me a little bit of time to learn it's quirks - but that may be more a reflection of user than device. In any event, I am quite pleased and very glad that I purchased the Epson 800.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Scanner Is Great ButHave had this scanner for a few years. Problems started when I bought an Epson XP-8500 MFP. There were constant conflicts with the OCR and the Epson Scan and Epson Scan 1 Twain Driver.. The Epson OCR, to be kind, "is not very good". Uninstalled Epson's Scan 1 OCR. Cannot configure Scan 1 to use Fine Reader OCR. Still a few issues with V800 Twain driver, I have a few work arounds to get by.The V800 Scanner is great when there are no issues. Epson Tech support did not help at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best overall flatbed scanner to dateI’ve been using Epson scanners religiously for 20 years. I’ve always purchased the advanced models and they have never failed me. Only thing I dislike is not using all the space on the film holders as they did in previous models. But the new led technology is excellent with not waiting to warm up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great For Recreating the Past from Old NegativesPurchased this scanner so could scan a large amount of old b/w larger format negatives. Would have cost a fortune to have them scanned professionally. This allows me to scan using my own settings, and with the use of photo editing software, I am getting decent family pictures off of negatives 70+ years old. Don't know where or what happened to a lot of the original photos, so being able to reproduce these is priceless!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epson Perfect V800 Review.I bought this two weeks ago and am about . I’m new to scanning but read the book by Steinhoff as well as Segal prior to starting. I’m about 3000 scans in at this point on color negatives. I’m using an Epson V800 and scanning using Silverfast Ai Archive. I stanning to HDRi archive at this point. On some days encounter frequent freezes in the middle of batch scanning. It’s unclear if this is an Epson issue or Silverfast. It requires me to exit Silverfast, shut down the scanner, and restart everything.Hope you and your staff are safe. I'm not sure the plastic on the film holder is useful as it requires close attention to remove the dust. Overall I like the product so far but wish the freezes would not occur. I also plan to buy a second film holder.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, So goodSo far I am very pleased with the Epson 800 scanner. It has the versatility and ease of use that I require in my business. I needed to replace the Microtek professional scanner I had for nearly 12 years. The scanning surface on the Epson is slightly smaller than the Microtek but that is relatively easy to compensate for. The Epson software has been OK so far. The Silverfast 8 software that came with the product has been unusable because of lack of support from the company due to the differences between the included (and on-line) manual and the actual product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nullRelative to the previous rating of the V800 two weeks ago, the scanner performed admirably after restarting my iMac...of course! Greater detail, faster scanning, save where I wanted the file to go. A vast improvement over my 12 year old Epson 4180 that is still serviceable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ScannerI bought this several months ago to for scanning in old photos for use in a book. It is easy to use and provides great quality scans even on photos that are not in good shape. I will be using it to also archive old family slides, etc. but haven't done that yet. Set-up was easy right out of the box.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epson V800 Photo Color Scanner Gets the Job DoneWhen my trusty old Epson 2450 finally quite working after over years of scanning, the replacement Epson V800 was the perfect choice. As a artist photographer I scan large scale films and other media for my work, so I needed a solid performing scanner that could handle the work accurately. The only thing that I would recommend improving is the visibility of the very faint scan "OK" button. On my screen I can barely see it, making it look like a blank button.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Prosumer Scanner MadeI've had a V-700 for 6 or 7 years and it was a great scanner until a recent problem. The V-800 is the same scanner with an LED lamp which eliminates the warm up time between scans. Although upgraded software is included, I never use it, the Epson software does the job. Not necessary for the casual scan, but if you do any graphic work, it's worth the price. Thank you Epson!! The V-800 Scanner with the SC P-800 printer makes a pro out of this consumer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Efficient photo scannerThis scanner was easy to get up and running in a Windows 10 environment. The scan sequence is relatively fast compared to my office HP scanner. The bundled SilverFast software did not run however.Does not work like a dedicated document scanner out of the box. That will require additional software.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding ScannerI usually use my scanner for repairing damaged pictures, especially old family heirlooms and photos of value to families. The V800 is completely perfect for this application. The Digital Ice feature is great for eliminating small irregularities. The output is valuable for importing to Photoshop to make more extensive repairs. I would not give up my V800.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use, not so easy to figure outI have had my V800 photo scanner for about 3 weeks. Set up was easy, but the user manual is sorely deficient. I have had to call customer service several times to get answers to questions. It’s hard to find the help number, but it is worth the effort as the customer service reps are both very helpful and very knowledgeable. The quality of the scan and ease of use are great. I am still trying to determine what size file I prefer for archiving, which is a personal choice. As well as which source I prefer, actual photos or the color negatives.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's beautiful when it works.I used the Epson Perfection V800 like a workhorse, mostly on 35mm color transparencies, almost every day for a couple of weeks with the SilverFast software. When it worked it was beautiful. I particularly like the infrared scratch reduction (iSRD). During each session, however, the scanner would crash (lose connection) several times just after completing the iSRD pass. I updated all the software, both Epson and SilverFast. It crashed less, but still crashed. After a couple of weeks the scanner stopped producing beautiful scans. The images became a series of fine vertical streaks of colors from the image being scanned. Both the Epson and SlverFast software produced the same result. The scanner had failed and had to be exchanged per the warranty. The second scanner is working well, but occasionally produces a vertical lavender line on the left side of the glass platten for the full length of the entire 35mm slide frame holder, thus marking 4 of the 12 slides. I updated the software again, and so far no line. So, yes, I love the scanner when it works. I just hope it continues to do so.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nullOpened box, found skimpy directions in four languages, followed set up instructions 1 thru 5 as pictures showed and accomplished initial scan. However I cannot get the scanner to do the next image...seems like there is no power to the machine, checked connections several times, downloaded info from startup disc and basics. Connected to a new 27" iMac bought 3 mths ago with Adobe Photoshop CS5.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awsome scaner for Glass Negatives !!!!!After reading numerous reviews about different scanners for digitizing glass negatives, this unit was highly recommended. I have used other scanners in the past but this unit is by far the best. Working on a new book and this scanner is perfect for my needs. Scans are quick, easy and perfect!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nullWe have been cleaning out my mothers home where she lived for over 50 years. She had boxes and boxes of photos & negatives. I worked with the scanner on my Epson 600 printer until April when this V800 was bought. It has been awesome especially with the negatives I am now working on. These photos were from 1880 till 1990. We now have well over 5000 digitalized because of this great scanner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for what it does.Bought this solely for slides/negatives. I have an Epson GT-15000 for everything else. I don't use Silverfast; always gone via Epson Scan Professional Mode and used Photoshop for whatever's needed. One anomaly is cleaning the glass plate, which results in streaks during the preview mode and only in black and white. I'd have to shut off and wait a few hours to get it back to normal. Very strange

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Software Incompatible with MacSadly, after going to the expense of buying this, I discover that its software is not compatible with my Mac Catalina system. So, I had to purchase a third-party (more complicated ) software Silverfast, which was recommended by the manufacturer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super fast. Trouble-free. Easy to use. This was an upgrade for me. My prior Epson V550 performed flawlessly but super high resolution scans took time. Step in V800 and amazed how much faster. Also I can get 2400 and higher dpi on full sheet photos (not just cropped images like other machines do). This re-conditioned product looks and works as NEW.

Restoring older photographs in the digital format results in superior images than the originals. The Epson software and SilverFast work well together.Thank you for a fine product and package.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Scanner, butI have V600 and V700 and used extensively, taking this V800 out of the box, I tried registering it immediately and was told my serial number was not valid. I called to get it straightened out and was told one of the characters printed on the box and on the printer was incorrect. This was the 3rd character that fits the v800 scanner, where a U was swapped for a V. I then registered successfully using the 'new' serial number. I would expect to rate the product use as 5 stars, but hope I never have a problem with it and find a warranty issue !
