Diagnostics didn't alert me to a printhead problem as it did the last time I had to change one. My printer is a 8500A Premium and I'm glad it was repairable because it has been the best printer ever.

It arrived within 2 days because I order on the weekend and during Christmas season. I now have great quality prints. They even sent me an envelop to return the printheads.

However I saw that it was well beyond the use by date. I printed for many years on the old print head so took a leap of faith that this was causing my printer problems. Well worth the money so another good printer did not go to our landfills.

Unfortunately, the Printhead alignment cycle keeps repeating and fails. I have cleaned the contacts for both printheads to no avail. I must need a geek to help me solve the problem.

It was so easy, and within 30 hours of ordering it, it was at my front door. I do a business out of my home, so it was a pleasant surprise. I would definitely order online again. However, I continued to get the same error message. The new printhead did not work. I returned the defective new printhead to HP Shopping. I replaced all the ink cartridges ($130) with no change. I purchassed a new print head ($65) and installed it. The printer printed 12 pages perfectly then stopped and says that the printhead is not there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Printhead problems frustrating and expensive I agree totally with the previous reviews. Have just had this problem with the yellow/black printhead. I have not been able to use my printer for 6 days now. I got the message to replace the printhead, so we did and still get the message to replace the printhead. We have performed all of the troubleshooting suggestions, performing over and over again. Not only have we gotten ink all over us(valuable ink) after shaking the printhead 6x (several times), it still will not print. After I purchase 3 printheads, I could purchase a new printer. If I had been aware of this ink habit, I would have purchased another printer, which appears I may have to do anyway. Thumbs down on this printer.

I had my doubts, and was concerned about spending so much for a part I wasn't sure would fix the problem, but it worked! I'm now able to print with quality resolution once again.

Old printhead was still in warranty, but could not navigate through the HP warranty minefield, so just gave up and bought a new one.

It was unable to recognize one of the two printheads. Too much back and forth to return items. Went and bought new printer for less than the cartridges cost for my hp printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fixed my Yellow, Orange & Red color printing I was having trouble with my colors, orange, yellow and green. Black was bleeding into the yellow. Saw a note on the HP Solutions website that recommended I replace the Black & Yellow Officejet printhead and Vwalllaa! It fixed it good as new. My oranges, yellows and greens are printing truer. I replaced this printhead after 3 years of use. Seems reasonable amount of use for part replacement.

They unfortunately did not solve the problem I was having with my printer so I ended up having to buy a New printer, which I order from HP. They were wonderful to deal with and even gave me a refund on the printer heads. I will definitely be ordering more products from them in the future.

My HP Officejet Pro 8500 wouldn't print so I purchased (2) new printheads (a black/yellow and a Magneta/Cyan) from HP and my printer works great again. The printheads came with a 30 day return policy. HP included a USPS postage paid package in case I needed to return them. I already had (4) 940xl ink cartridges and my Officejet Pro 8500 works great again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product is what my printer needed Not sure about giving this rating. HP only let's you buy certain products for their printers so you HAVE to BUY a CERTAIN Product. It came over night no extra charge which I give EXCELEENT! I used a coupon on retailmenot.com and it was accepted. When, I had to get this officejet because the other HP printer broke down on me, the warranty entitled me to have another printer. Sad to say, I wasn't told that I had to purchase ink cartridges AND printheads which made it more expensive printer. And, then, I was told that the warranty that I continued last year didn't cover the printhead only hardware - so I had to purchase this very expensive printhead.

It worked correctly immediately and solved the issue of printing only "magenta" colored text and 'missing colors' on pictures to full black text and full color pictures. Was easy to install into the Printhead Carriage and continues to work well with no issues noted. As advertised on Package it came in..." Precise, Reliable, Every time".

I encountered printheads with non-HP printers owned by friends and the printheads seemed to give those other brand printers constant printing quality issues. Had I known this particular printer came with them, I would not have purchased the printer. With that said, the printer is now working well and I am pleased with its performance. I am also informed that separate printheads are no longer part of this type of printer!

This printerhead (and its related Cyan and Magenta printerhead) was exactly what needed to be replaced. Beautiful color printouts again!

This new printhead was what was needed and the printer is back at work. It was easy to install once I figured out where it was located.

The new heads were expensive but did restore my printer to proper operation. I hope they last longer than the last print heads, which had replaced long-lasting printheads that had come with the new printer years ago.

I exhausted all diagnostic and maintenance routines to get my printer to print black, including replacing the black ink cartridge several times. Printhead alignment routine, in particular, failed repeatedly. Finally I purchased from HP Online Sales a new 940 Black/Yellow Printhead along with 940XL Ink Cartridges for all colors. Replacing the B/Y Printhead solved ALL the problems!

Aligning the ink heads failed. The Geek Squad told me to buy a new printer. Replacing the ink heads solved the problem completely.

Howver, the high cost of feeding the printer's ink "habit" must be taken into consideration when viewing the overall picture. I have only had the printer about 5 months and do a relatatively small amount of printing for the large ink bill.I could have easily purchased a new printer on what I have put out for ink, especially print heads. I believe this flaw should be looked into.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Frustrating product I've been getting poor print quality for some time and the printer said there was a problem with my Black/Yellow printhead so I spent the $60.00 for the printhead another $60 for ink cartridges. After installing the new printhead and cartridges it told me I still had a problem with the Black/Yellow printhead. I spent close to an hour on the phone with tech support and could not resolve the problem. So junked the printer and bought an Epson.

Now I am having the same problem, clogged printheads (yellow/black) again. Something is wrong with the yellow ink that it continuesly clogs the printhead. Waiting for HP's response to see what they will do, 2 weeks before warranty runs out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HP 8500 and 940 Printheads My company has owned about 15 HP Printers and the 940 Printheads used in their 8500 have been nothing but trouble since I bought the 8500 in late Oct of 2011. After 5 dead/clogged printheads I have given up and purchased an 8600 that appears to be much better. HP has replaced my last set of 940 Print Heads for free under warranty so kudos to them but I will only now use the 8500 as a backup printer with new HP Ink Cartridges. Run for the hills from the 8500 is all I can say! Buy an 8600 instead.

I could never really identify what the problem was with the troubleshooting in my software. I just took a shot and ordered the printheads. Installation was simple, just like installing an ink refill. If it didn't fix the problem I would buy a new printer. The printer ran a printhead alighnment automatically and problem solved. I have had the printer about three years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still have streaked & missing black ink!!! My black printouts were streaked and blank in places, so after repeatedly cleaning the printhead, I decided I needed a new one. But, about every 3rd page the black ink still streaks or does not print in spots. It seems to be on the top area most of the time. I don't know what to do. It's an HP Officejet Pro 8500A and all the other colors work fine. It's just the black ink.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No need to buy another printer When my HP OfficeJet 8500 Pro All-In-One printer began to skip printing lettters and sentences in horizontal lines and leave entire blank lines, I contacted HP. The option to either purchase diagnostic assistance or buy another (used but referbished) HP 8500 were presented to me by HP. Rather than accept one of these options, I took the chance that it just might be the printhead. I ordered the Black/Yellow printhead, installed it and it works great! All the problems with the printing were solved. So before you buy another printer if you are having these printing problems, try replacing the printhead. The $45.00 was worth it!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product has problems I just installed this printhead about 1.5 weeks ago, and it is already gone into the yellow zone from green. i've only printed 38 pages. i also now have ink seeping out the bottom of the printer. Up till recently this was the best printer I ever owned (and have had many) now it seems to be drinking ink. I was thinking of upgrading to the 8600 and stopped my order after reading that this is a on going problem that has still not been fixed. I have been told by resellers I would be better off buying a new Brother MFP, so soon it will be decision time. I have purchased HP for years and can say I will miss their products, but this is too big an issue to leave unresolved with no help. BEWARE !!!
