I needed another and shopped around online, and ended up purchasing a second one. I just could not beat the features and values. I really like the sleep and volume keys on the keyboard itself, very handy. Great value, purchase this keyboard!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this keyboard!! I was looking for a generic keyboard to attach to my work laptop. The keyboard I was using was giving me trouble with the keys sticking, which made it really frustrating. And the F keys were hard to see and reach, since there is a shadow on the back of it, due to using a keyboard tray. I constantly use the F keys in my job, so this was an issue. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, and I was trying to decide on one by Logitech and this one. This one was just about a dollar more, but I went with it because of the HP name. My previous keyboard was Logitech, and I wasn't impressed with it. So glad I decided on this one. The keys make typing so easy. It requires a light touch. I can type much faster on this one. And it is easy to see and reach the F keys, since the keyboard is less bulky and more streamlined than my other one. This keyboard does have a clicky sound, which I personally like--although that might annoy some people. Even though it is wired and doesn't have the convenience of a wireless keyboard, I like that I don't have to worry about replacing batteries. Just plug and play.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HP Classic Wired Keyboard This keyboard replaced my 6 year old HP Wired Keyboard which came with my HP Computer. Several of the keys had worn through the letters. To purchase replacement letters kits would have cost more so I ordered this keyboard. The physical keys are interchangeable so I will keep my old one as a backup. The volume and speaker buttons are in a different location than my old one, but the "Sleep" button is dedicated which I like.

For that the old raised shaped keys were most favorable. I was in search of one of those when I purchased this keyboard and it was most unsatisfactory for the job. The key board is not what I requested. I received a full refund.

I tried to return it for credit, and looking for a return label on line to print out, with no a vail. With very little help from customer service. So I thought I would just eat it. (did not return it, and is of no use) I ended up buying the HP Slim keyboard witch I think I like better. (Little higher priced) The classic key board has all the keys that you would need. Came in a nice clean box. The seller sent the item out promptly. I rated this item 2 stars, as it does look very sturdy, and good looking. It's to bad it didn't work completely.

I quickly knew that after a purchase of a keyboard of another name brand, my purchase was going to be different. I took a chance to sight unseen, online order this HP keyboard and I'm happily satisfied. The keyboard is a nice size and easily slides under my laptop stand when not in use. The keys feel nice when pressed and it is very quiet. The other brand advertised being quiet but it was not. Nothing like hearing loud click clacking throughout the home. I guess you can call that quiet if one is wearing earplugs. Anyway, look no further if you are looking for a traditional wired keyboard. Buy this HP keyboard!

This keyboard has springy keys which are kind of fun to press and the keyboard itself is a little wider than most which makes for easy use. I've had it for about two weeks and it works great.

We are shocked at how nice these keyboards really are. We both do a lot of typing and the keys response and feel has been outstanding. We both have very nice HP Laptops but prefer to use basic keyboards and these are outstanding.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable, responsive keyboard at a great price Have been using this keyboard for years. Tried ergonomic keyboards by they where too bulky for my home workstation. The HP Classic fits much better. Letters on the keys have been fading, but not much of a problem if you know how to type. People have actually commented on how fast I type since I started using this keyboard. That being said, I'm still looking for a reasonable priced keyboard with the number pad on the left, or a least a detachable number pad. Which, apparently, HP does not make any more. But this has been my one complaint of all keyboards. Would prefer to keep the full set of navigation keys on the right, move the number pad to the left, and then the keyboard is centered between the two. Then I wouldn't have to reach so far for the mouse and/or slide the keyboard out of the way. Being somewhat ambidextrous I'm sure I could adjust. Would just love this keyboard if it was offered with that setup!

Precisely because the image shown was the reason why I bought this keyboard. Actually I bought six of them. Unfortunately the photos are deceiving and they should be reviewed by the web master. The product number is the same as shown, the keys distribution is not, that is other thing to fix. Now I have to make the whole returning process.

I spilled water on my original keyboard and was pleased to get a quality replacement at a very reasonable cost. The keyboard layout is identical to my original HP keyboard which I liked. Excellent typing experience and has media keys whcih I use all the time. In addition, it's got a very handy sleep button which even none of my $100+ mechanical gaming keyboars had.

Removing the wireless keyboard solved some of the drop down menu problem. The keyboard responds better, does not skip with my typing causing spelling errors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice keyboard for the price This is a very nice keyboard for the price. There is a really quick response from when the key is struck and when it appears on the screen. The "sleep" button is very quick.....goes off fast and comes back on fast. Keyboard has a quality feel to it and is quite comfortable to use. On the negative side, the keys are a little loud, especially the numbers keys....but, not annoyingly so....it is very much acceptable. And, I wish it had a calculator key instead of the "scroll lock", which seems to have no noticeable function (I also looked it up on Google and this seems to be par with pretty much all of the keyboards even by other manufacturers).

The old keyboard didn't have the raised areas on the "F" and "J" keys to support touch typing, and that had often caused me to make mistakes. The keys on this keyboard are nice and it's easy to get my fingers oriented correctly with the tactile keys.

When it quit after years of use, I tried several different kinds and brands of keyboards and hated all of them. I went to HP to replace my original beloved keyboard and discovered to my surprise that the keyboard was amazingly inexpensive. I am thrilled to have my fabulous HP keyboard back!

I LOVE WHITE. I Loved The White Keyboard...I spilled a 2 LR bottle of Diet Coke in the keyboard. Saw it in the morning...Sadness. Looked and looked, but, could not get a replacement in white, so I purchased the same keyboard in black. Se La Vie, I love it enough to accept the black keyboard on my white desk.

Tried a wireless keyboard and mouse from Microsoft which was absolutely terrible. Batteries didn't last a week, all keystrokes didn't show up, etc. Love going back to the wired keyboard as now I can type fast and everything shows up on screen. Also save lots of money on batteries. Thanks for a very good basic keyboard.

Once I plugged this in my laptop, it worked perfectly for searching on the internet! Of course this isn’t for everybody like gamers but it could be used as a extra keyboard if your keyboard stops working. 10/10!

The presence of a sleep button is a nice plus. As a veteran computer programmer this was the keyboard I wanted. This is not a gamer’s keyboard it’s a keyboard for the serious computer user. One of the key features as a wired keyboard is it’s plug & play no scrambling for batteries!

So I placed the new HP USB keyboard on top the laptops keys, and all works well that way...(better than buying a new laptop)!! :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Egronomics zero A typical touch typist is devidstated by any poorly designed unprodctive tool as the travel for the space bar bottoms on the bezel and fails. It can only be activated by pausing, and pressing with the index finger so the key bottoms. I attempted to explain this to a HP Sales Staff person that a laptop style key board (essentually flat) is only good for index users. Responsive travel when touched by the fingers on all keys are needed for speed typists. The 2004 HP keyboard is excellent but fails to work with a Win 7 system. Even the TI 44/9A also had an excellent keyboard as well. I started touch typing in 1956 and still 56 years later.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The HP Classic Keyboard is Classic! I really like this keyboard! The keys are raised and properly spaced and sized. Man, the keys feel almost silky when you hit them, anice smooth feel. Love the Sleep and volume control features, that is nice and should be on every key board. My only nit-pick is that the entire keyboard is a little light in weight, it lacks some denisty... Again, this is a small complaint, but, my son loves it, and never hesitates to say that this Classic keyboard (that I purchased for his PC) is better than mine (because of the Sleep and volume features mentioned above). Very good bang for your hard earned cash and simply reasonably priced as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Okay Keyboard if you don't care for the best This keyboard is okay in that everything works as advertised ... with full function for everything, even for volume control. But, the keys have a long stroke which makes it more difficult to use than it should be. My former keyboard was an an HP black slim wired keyboard ... but the closest keyboard that I could find was an HP 599859-371 Black Slim Amalthea Wired PS/2 (Not USB) Keyboard with Volume Control. This is the one which I finally ordered to replace the one that I formerly had which was for USB ... but since I was able to obtain a smart adapter, I am now able to use the one that I really like again ... which is a full 5 star keyboard! And this one has a very short stroke for every key making it much easier to use ... and it also is much more nicely made than than one that I am reviewing right now - the HP Classic Wired Keyboard. And that is why I am downgrading the HP Classic Wired Keyboard to three stars, even though it meets all of the basic needs for the average person ... but, just know that the HP Slim Wired Keyboard was so much better and easier to use! You ought to make this one again, HP! But, still, if you want an okay keyboard which meets all of your needs, you can still order the HP Classic Wired Keyboard ... it works fine, if that is what you are looking for.

Now I don't have to get used to the feel of a new board which is good because I do a LOT of typing. I also love that this keyboard has a volume control for my music. Also, the shipping was super fast! I think I just might order another as a backup...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a relief! When my original wired HP keyboard went on the blink, I purchased a wireless keyboard (not an HP). It was a pain because the wireless thing I had to plug into the USB kept getting misplaced; had to keep an eye on the battery level; and if my wireless went out I was stuck. Took a chance to see if I could still purchase a wired keyboard and, to my relief, I could. It is much easier to use since it is so basic (I did not need all the bells and whistles on the wireless), the touch is comfortable and I do not need to pound they keys. If my wireless goes out, I can still type. In general, I am much happier with the wired keyboard. In fact, I may purchase another just to have a spare. As always, Hewlett Packard came through for me again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simplicity at its best! The last HP classic keyboard I had lasted almost 6 years. I was afraid that HP didn't manufacture the classic keyboard anymore but I was happy to find out that they still produce it. This is by far the best membrane keyboard money can buy and it's the only keyboard I'll ever buy again. I've tried at least 5 different brands of simplistic keyboards as well some top end mechanical brands and none of them gave me the feel and satisfaction that the HP classic does. If you're looking for a simplistic no-frills keyboard that has a slim frame with no extended palm rest and a great feel (it's simply a joy to type on), this is the keyboard for you. Cheers!

Was able to use the old keyboard "cradle" and wrist pad to give it a better angle for typing. Receive via FedEx two days after order.

As this virus continues to consume the country, we are helping to school our 7 year old granddaughter. As she is doing much of her homework on the computer, we needed to have a keyboard with letters she could see in order to complete her assignments. This new keyboard is working perfectly. Now she can search and peck her own answers without me showing her where the letters are. Great feel, as well!

The keyboard was awkward to use and had no indicator lights for caps-on, numbers-on, nor scroll-on. The mouse had an edge that hurt my grip.The Classic Wired keyboard has a traditional feel to the keys, better spacing between keys, and the three very helpful indicator lights. Since my tower is used only on my desk, having a wired keyboard is not an issue. My keying is not faster and more accurate - from the lowest priced keyboard offered by HP.

I bought it to replace the one I am using because certain keys (e.g. the Backspace) no longer properly function. This is probably my fault because I use the Backspace key excessively. Perhaps someone can give me a good recommendation as to how to correct my typing errors without having the use the Backspace key so often. Since I also use the right Shift key often, I have now almost worn off the white writing.

The only downside I've had from past versions of this keyboard is the letters and numbers tend to wear off the keys over time. I'd wish they were more permanent.
