Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't work from the USB -C! It doesn't work from the USB -C connection, only from USB 3. An hour + online with support finally got it to work with USB 3 after they sent me a software update. Before that it wouldn't work AT ALL.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gets The Job Done I recently purchased a new laptop and wanted a docking station since there wasn't a lot of connections on my new one. This device gets the job done although I do wish there was one or two more connections on it such as a card reader and another USB 3.0. Overall, I like it and it serves its purpose for my new set up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good way to connect to additional HW The dock has worked well for all ports involved - Ethernet / Display / USB. It makes a very clean connection / disconnection to the laptop. My only setup issue was to be sure that both the power pack for the dock and the power pack of the laptop were powered and plugged in. Taking the laptop anywhere is now very easy to do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Will Not Provide Charge to Envy I was looking for a good clean docking station for my new HP Envy 17t. Unfortunately, this USB C dock requires me to have it connected via my USB C port as well as the power cord that came with the laptop. It will not charge the laptop thru the USB C Port.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely unreliable We bought many of these docks for our office (around 60+) and they are EXTREMELY UNRELIABLE. Right out of the box, many of them refuse to charge our HP Pro X2 tablets, or refuse to output video. The light just flickers. Sometimes, they will just disconnect out of the blue and give a USB error. Other times, the connected displays will freeze. Our users mistakenly believe their tablets are bad, but it's always the dock that has problems. We are now getting the new revision and hope they will work correctly. Very disappointed as we have spent a good amount of money on those.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Underpowered for the Spectre-x360 HP should have a 90W version for the Spectre-x360. Hub sometimes kills my Bluetooth mouse and I must reboot. Displays get confused sometimes and I must reboot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid! Very high quality dock, super easy to use, and small so doesn't take up desk space. USB-C requires a software download (from the dock) so I couldn't use my locked down work computer through USB-C. But HP includes a convenient converter to USB-3 and it works with that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Charges my HP Spectre laptop over USB-C! I have an HP Spectre laptop. the late 2016 version with Kaby Lake. I am happy to report that this HP USB-C hub can charge my laptop (HP laptops notoriously don't work with many USB-C third-party chargers or docks). I previously tried another USB-C hub, Plugable USB-C Docking Station, but it does not charge the HP laptop. I recently had problems with an older USB-2 keyboard dongle and a USB printer not being recognized by the laptop when connected to this other hub so I purchased this HP hub today. Everything works correctly now! I can now charge my laptop over USB-C and this new dock also solves all my USB keyboard dongle and printer connectivity problems. I should've just purchased the (more expensive) HP hub for my HP laptop to begin with. I'm very happy to now have just a single USB-C cable to connect to my laptop as I dock and undock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeded my expectations! I just got this and haven't have a chance to put it through it's paced yet. I'm still waiting for the Spectre x360 to arrive, but while I wait i've got it hooked up to my Elitebook 840 G3. I've got it plugged in using the USB-A adaptor, and i've got two monitors connected to the dock, and a third connected directly to the DP on the side of my laptop and i'm able to run 3 external displays plus built in laptop display. I did need to go to hp.com to download the driver. The website identified the driver as being for the G4, but it works perfectly fine with the G3 also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does not work as described Ordered this dock along with a HP Envy laptop to utilize it as a home computer. Multiple issues with ethernet connection not being adequate (dropping connection when other devices remained connected to same network) and dock became very warm when connected. Confirmed this was the dock recommended for this laptop. And it is not a true dock, but rather a block that has extra ports for connections. Returned item and it appears it is "out of stock" at the moment so I cannot be sure if my dock was faulty or there is an issue with this device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does not actually work over USB-C In order to use this dock, you actually have to use the USB type-A to USB type-C adapter. In other words, even if you have a USB type-C port on your computer, you cannot simply plug the USB type-C plug into it, you have to use the adapter. This also means that you have to power this dock and your computer separately, since there will be no charging over the USB type-A adapter. Advisory from HP here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05509272 So, to repeat: you cannot use this as a USB type-C dock. It is, at best, a USB 3.0 port replicator. It will not charge your computer, and you cannot use your computer's USB type-C port. I don't know why this is even available for sale.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Weak Power The web page says it is compatible with HP laptops. The technical specs don't say anything about the power available. Many of today's laptops require far more power than the 40W that this unit provides. It is not compatible with the Spectre x360, which requires 90W. It was not even able to charge it when left plugged in overnight with the laptop in sleep mode. Hopefully the description can be changed on the web site.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliability issues I am struggling to get this product to be stable with my wife’s HP Specte laptop. It will shut the monitor off and goes into la la land. I have updated firmware on dock, laptop drivers are fully up to date. What seems to have helped is disabling anything to do with power management and using the USB dongle instead of USB C. I assumed an HP monitor, laptop, and dock would play well together.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I recommend this if it does what you want and need I was told that this would allow me to run 2 larger monitors, but it only ran 1 of them. I sent it back. It was an ok product, but not a nice docking station like the past ones where I could just park my laptop on something and then everything connected. This one, you just lay the laptop down and plug this into it, and the other plugs are already in place. So, it is easy to use in that regard, but unless I did it wrong, it would only run 1 monitor and the laptop monitor, and not my second large one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! I first bought some off-market brand USB-C Docks but had issues with connectivity for the monitor quality and power supply. Decided to spend the $50 more for the HP brand and could not be happier. It is plug and play and is super convenient to hook up my HP Spectre 13.3.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great...if you don't use all of the features The bandwidth is very limited, probably due to USB-C. If you attach a monitor and keyboard/mouse, the mouse is almost unusable because it is so jittery. I would not connect multiple high bandwidth devices - monitor, DVD, etc. to the dock...which kind of defeats the purpose of having it. You must install the drivers located on a drive in the dock before you can use the monitor external monitor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does not work with Elite X2 I purchased this dock since it was advertised and listed as an optional accessory to my Elite X2 1012 G2 . Unfortunately, the dock is not recognized when connected via USB-C, and only works when using the included USB-C to A adapter that was included. Even when connected (via USB-A) it still doesn't work as designed, as the external monitor (connected via DP) is displayed as a single monitor and not recognized as a multiple monitor setup. Since the dock doesn't work over USB-C, it cannot power the Elite X2 either. Have already initiated a return, but disappointing nonetheless.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't connect to 2nd display I bought the HP USB-C Dock primarily so I could connect my Spectre 360x to another larger display via the display port. Secondarily I wanted the additional USB ports. I installed the DisplayLink application, that comes with the Dock, as instructed. However, I have had no success thus far in connecting my other display. The display connects to my EliteBook 840 G3 directly without a problem, but not with my Spectre through the HP USB-C Dock. Also, the DisplayLink software does not give me connection options as described in the user manual. I have not yet given up hope. But if I can't get it to work soon, I plan to return the Dock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Underpowered for use with HP laptop I just connected the c-Doc to my new HP Elitebook only to learn that it is not a true docking station like my old laptop from another manufacturer. Upon pluging it in I receive a message telling me it does not have the power capacity to power my laptop. Therefore I still have to plug in my laptop to a power source because the cDoc only acts as a hub to connect select periferals. The cDock has limited capacity to connect via HDMI, c-type USB or 2 standard USB connections.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Dock I'm using it with a Pavilion laptop. Once I learned that the HP Elite USB-C Docking Station may be used by plugging the docking station into the computer's USB type-A port using the included USB-C to USB type-A adapter, it works like a charm. Using two monitors, a USB DVD drive, mouse and keyboard with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Supports max 2560x160 resolution Uses something called DisplayLink (not the ability of USB-C to send DisplayPort), which in its more recent versions (see Wikipedia) can support 4k (the latest even does dual 4k at 60p over USB-C), but I guess HP is using a DisplayLink chip prior to 2014 :-( $200 seems overpriced for old tech.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Useful Addition Recently purchased a Spectre 360 laptop. Docking station may be a little pricey but it is offset by needing only a single USB-C cable to provide power, and connections to a key board, mouse, monitor, printer, internet cable, speakers, external dvd drive, with a spare USB-C. Plugged everything in, no problems. Makes coming and going very simple.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Misleading Description shows 65W power supply, confirmed with HP to see if this would charge a Probook 455 since it only uses 45W (they said yes). As a few on these reviews have also mentioned it only provides 40W towards charging the laptop. Everything else worked as described, would have given 5 stars if it charged the device as reported by HP. Make sure you check your power requirements.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just needs more power, no other issues. This is thing is so close to doing what the all the others are trying to accomplish. It handles my network, devices, and 4K monitor through USB-C like a champ. The only drawback is that it only supplies 40W of charging power through the USB-C. Therefore it will not charge the HP Spectre x360 perfectly. The Spectre needs 90W, so if you have a laptop that uses USB-C for charging (not many do) check what wattage it requires.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does not perform as advertised I purchased this quite expensive Dock because I was told it was usable through the USB-C port of the current (8th Gen) Envy computers to charge and dock my monitors. That is incorrect! This will not charge the computer despite the "PowerDelivery" spec on the computer page. It may work with other computers, but this WILL NOT charge OR dock monitors for an HP Envy x360 15". I sent mine back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not compatible with Pavilion I bought this dock to pair with a brand new HP Pavilion I purchased at Costco in December 2018. Unfortunately it is not compatible and will not extend my laptop to the two monitors I have (one connecting via USB, another via DP). Sending back after a month of troubleshooting, bios updates etc. Getting a non HP dock off Amazon that says it will be compatible with a Pavilion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't Power Newer Spectre 360 Extremely annoyed that the HP website is so poor that the specs on this product does not tell you that it ONLY supplies 40w of power to the laptop and that the newer Spectre 360 requires 90w. Don't suggest an accessory for a product that doesn't fully work HP! Especially without a warning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bottom End Product New Envy 360 & This new docking station. Does not offer power through USBC as stated online. No drivers available online. Needs to use USB3 port to run which occupies a port. Online support & Cust. Srvc. has inaccurate info on this product. Not like other docks that one can use on the run. You still need to have the power adapter accompany the laptop. Keeping it in the car is not an option. Plugging in 1 cord and getting to work in the office is not an option. Not a good simplified product! I might as well haul a desk top on the road with as may wires I need to unplug and plug everyone I return to the office.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Flawlessly, but Check Your Machine First I got this dock to work with my Spectre x2. Since the 2 in 1 laptop only has two USB type C ports, I needed to have a dock to a second monitor, and get some additional USB ports. Well, I installed the latest drivers, plugged it in, the plug and play manager detected it, and now I have a second monitor that I am using with the laptop. I added a wireless receiver to one of the USB ports and I have a mouse and keyboard working through the dock to. This dock is working exactly as advertised, and I love it. Now, if you are someone looking into having a Spectre x2 work with Windows Mixed Reality, you will need to get the USB-C to HDMI adapter, as the HDMI port on the dock will not work with Mixed Reality. It will drive who additional monitors through the HDMI port and Display Port, but not a VR headset.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great except annoying squeaking sound I have an HP x360 business 1030 G2 elitebook (which is an amazing machine, I highly recommend) and all the features for this dock work well through the intended USB-C connection. I only have one external monitor attached through the hdmi port, RJ-45, have all the USB ports filled, and have a 4-port usb-3 hub attached and filled. Everything works through the USB-C connection, and it does power/charge my laptop. Everything works perfectly. My only problem is that when I first plug it in, I get a warning from HP that says I need a more powerful power adapter, and when I close the lid on my laptop (wanting to use only the external monitor), both my laptop and the dock make a quiet, but extremely annoying whining/sqeeking sound (that seems to be related to the graphics card). I know people harsh HP, but I am a huge fan and love HP products. But it is very frustrating to pay $200 for a dock and have to run white noise in my office to drown out the mouse squeaking in my devices. However, after reading Amazon reviews on 'Pluggable' and other cheaper, similar docks that at least possibly corrupt laptops, I am going to stay with HP products. It works great and exactly how it is supposed to, but the squeaking is super annoying. Strange, if I keep laptop lid open, the noise goes away (which is why I think it is graphics card related). The noise does NOT go away if I unplug the USB-3 hub and use only the dock USB ports. I checked to make sure I received the 65 watt power supply, so that's not the problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't charge your laptop I thought this would allow me to charge my laptop while "docked"... Despite having a very large power brick to run the dock, it doesn't pass through the power - you'll have to plug in your power adapter AND your dock (and take up both USB-C ports and two power outlets) if you want power and port replication.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Missing feature Product works fine with USB devices and Network connection. The missing feature is not providing charging power to the laptop. so you need to have both laptop power supply and Dock station power supply. This is more like a USB HUB and not a Docking device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Simple Solution Product works fantastic. Employees at our workplace have them for their Elitebook x360s. Never get any helpdesk requests related to issues with them since install. Some reviewers stated that the device does not charge over USB-C. Incorrect. The dock will charge over USB-C but charging over the USB-C port has to be supported by the laptop. Not a flaw in the product, just an oversight by some purchasers. If you purchase this, be sure it is supported on your device. It works on my personal Spectre x360 perfectly. Others without support should expect to have to carry around their power adapter as well. Nothing to knock this product for though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from compact and very functional I am retiring at the end of the month and wanted to update my home office. Dual monitors, very-desk, etc. It will accommodate all of my accessories. However, I had to purchase a data port cable to connect both monitors (only had one HDMI port). And there wasn't a power button on the dock. Minor inconveniences but would have made it perfect for my purposes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from null I bought this to use at work. I have two different HP laptops. If you want to just have one cable to plug in for extra monitors, it works great, but it isn't able to charge either of my laptops. This is what I was told I needed when I contacted HP. I wouldn't get one again. It defeats half the purpose of why I bought it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works but defeats the purpose I bought this because I wanted a one plug solution and I would have my laptop over to the side and use a regular keyboard and mouse with 2 monitors. the computer will not charge through the dock, and some times I have to plug and unplug to get the monitor to respond. I have found it easer to just go directly into the HDMI port on the pc. I have a brand new HP Pavilion I7 purchased at Costco. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent central hub for my connections I originally purchased this because I had 3 Sea-gate hard drives and only one USB port on my laptop. Since then I am also using it for the HDMI port since the laptop doesn't deliver consistent strength to support the external display. the hub has the power to support all of these, a little higher priced but a cheaper one without power cannot support the external hard drives.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact Dock Received my docking station the other day a little later than estimated shipping, but in good time nonetheless. It's small and compact and appears to have all of the hookups that I will need, however I haven't been able to test it out because my laptop isn't shipping for a couple weeks yet and the monitor I ordered was out of stock so I have to reorder one as well. So for a docking station only setup at the moment it seems like it will work!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Game Changer I bought this item for convenience. I use a laptop as my primary computer and have two monitors, a live stream camera, microphone, external speakers, and (sometimes) a headset. I was tired of unplugging everything when I want to go mobile with my laptop. The USB dock now means I only have one item to plug/unplug from my laptop. So much more convenient this way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Docking Solution I'm glad I bought this for my HP Pavilion Laptop 15-cs3xxx. It works well as a compact docking station. My only issue is that it does not work with the USB-C port on the laptop, only through the USB-A port. It's not a dealbreaker, but it's not ideal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid docking platform with lots of inputs Have used this in the past, and this one was a new purchase for a new job. Positive experience with this dock. Works as expected, lot's of inputs. Depending on your set up, may need an adapter for 2nd video monitor (I have 2 HP monitors with HDMI cables, needed one adapter for HDMI to video). Would recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really simplified things This product was as simple to use as any plug and play device. Working at home and switching between work and personal laptops, it makes life so much easier setting up to use my two monitors, keyboard and mouse (and power cord). My laptop was hooked up like a patient on life support. Now it's just one cable. When I return to work and am taking my work issue laptop back and forth every day, it will be one more layer of convenience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable device! I called HP to determine the best docking station for my HP laptop. They took all of my laptop's information and recommended a product that has been very reliable using both monitors, a webcam, and a USB hub with numerous peripherals. The only thing to watch out for is the second video port on the docking station is a "Displayport" which has a unique shape (see photo). I didn't know this when I purchased it, so I had to order a cable for it. The good news there is that the HDMI port on the laptop itself worked as my second monitor input until the cable arrived. Other than that, it's proven to be a robust little device, and I'm glad I took the trouble to ask HP about it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from doesn't work with my HP laptop I've been bounced around "support" for an hour or so. The third person i spoke to suggested that the HP dock i bought (after consulting with our IT guy who researched it) just isn't compatible with my HP laptop. The laptop was purchased in March of this year, the dock is new, out of the box, purchased from HP, not an intermediate seller.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It’s just ok for me I wish that the port replicator had an on/off switch to turn on the laptop when it’s connected. Right now I have to open the laptop, turn it on, then close the lid. I also had to change the settings so that the laptop would not go to sleep when I closed the lid while docked. Otherwise, the display goes dark even though it’s connected to the dock. Not well thought out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as Advertised; Doesn't Power all Models I bought this about a month ago and it's worked great so far. I guess my laptop doesn't support charging capabilities, but the dock can power certain laptops that do support charging through their USB-C port. The dock comes with an adapter that goes into a regular USB port on your computer (which I use) and it's fine, if you need that (don't have a C). Plenty of USB ports on the dock itself, supports two external monitors and has an aux plugin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A WORK AROUND PRODUCT I wanted to clean up my work space. The Dock does not have the power run through it so instead of one cord, you will have two. The connector to the computer is an adaptor, so the product has not been updated by HP. Also, that cord is way too short. For the money, a outdated and poorly "worked around" product. And it is expensive at that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works better than my generic brand dock the docking station has one VGA and one Display port for monitors which may require an adapter or a different monitor. The system generally works trouble free but sometimes seems to cause a flicker on the cursor. The battery never seems to fully charge while in use. The cord to connect to the computer could be longer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't connect through USB-C I spent over an hour trying to figure out why my brand new HP laptop did not recognize the brand new HP USB-C dock plugged in to the USB-C port. If the HP USB-C dock does not connect through the USB-C port, maybe you should stop calling it a "USB-C" dock. HP's solution was to slap a USB 3 adapter onto the dock instead of working out their own interface issues. It doesn't charge through the USB 3, so you still need to connect the charging cable every time. Forum posts on this topic date back to 2011. They've had almost 10 years to fix this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did not give 4k resolution I purchased this HP USB-C dock because it seemed to have the features I wanted. I planned to use it with both Dell and other non-HP laptops. Nothing suggested that this would not support 4K as most of these docks do. It was on sale so I took a chance, even though the product description on HP's website is totally silent on capability here. I did find mention of some settings for HP laptops that might help, but of course, this is not an option for non-HP laptops. So, it might work for you on an HP machine, but I am not sure how you can find out without trying it. And, that try-out cost me a re-stocking fee which I am not happy about. (By the way, I have numerous HP machines (tablets, desktop, printers) so I am not biased against HP.

USB, USB-C, HDMI I haven't tried to connect two monitors yet so I'm reserving judgment. I'm disappointed that the USB-C doesn't work with my laptop which brings me to my only complaint about my experience. lt would be ideal to be able to enter the model # or serial number and have the website return ALL peripherals, all accessories that work with that model. Scrolling through dozens of models looking for mine is insane... for the birds... so last century.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Will not charge Spectre x360 My intent was to be able to hook up 2 monitors and charge my computer. Some reviews said it did charge, some said it did not. This device will NOT charge the Spectre x360 15". It will bring up a warning indicator that the computer does not have sufficient power. It will not even just hold the charge. I had to buy another 90W power cord and both docking station and power cord need to plug into the side of the computer. Still working on monitor issues... Seems to have lots of ports - Recommendation depends on intent and device - I can't recommend for an hp Spectre x360, but maybe it will charge other devices.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not a true Docking station! Hi bought the HP Spectra x360 along with the USB C docking station to replace my aging Dell laptop with "drop-in" docking station. I researched heavily the HP laptop and docking station and talked to HP technical "experts" I was assured that the USB-C docking station was 100% functional as their business drop-in docking station. Since the Spectra laptop had its power button external I thought I could power up while connected to the USB C docking station, makes sense, yes. Instead you must open the laptop to power it on. This is not 100% compatible with the business docking station which does not require that you open the laptop in order to power on. Whats worse is this difference in power-up sequence between HPS USB-C docking station and their business drop-in docking station is not documented anywhere - AND apparently their "experts" didn't know or bother to tell me this difference when I talked with them and specifically asked about the USB-C features when in desk top mode. Since I use my laptop extensively in both mobile mode and desktop mode. Having to open the laptop each time in desk top mode in order to power it on is not practical. Its very inconvenient if you have limited desktop area. So, I returned both the Spectra laptop and USB docking station and was charged $250 for a "restocking fee" to boot. Word of warning - HP technical support team product knowledge is very limited and they provided misleading information on their product features. It cost me $250 to return their product and 30 days of my time to wait for the product to ship. When I spoke to HP regarding this problem and discovered the issue, HP made no attempt to waive the restocking fee. Wonder if this glowing review will actually be posted! ;-) -Glen

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does not work as advertised Before purchasing, I called HP Tech Support to ensure the dock would be fully compatible with my sons laptop. I specifically asked if it would be able to charge the laptop via the USB-C port. The person I spoke to looked up his laptop based on the serial number I provided, and assured me it would. She was wrong, it does not. We paid a ton of money for a dock that requires the laptop to be powered independently. Moreover, since i bought it as a Christmas present, by the time we knew it would not work as intended, it was past the 30-day return window. Very disappointed.
