SAN storage is hard, expensive, and loaded with unacceptable compromises when it does not have to be.
Small IT organizations have to deal with the explosive data growth just as much as large organizations. They just have to do it with smaller budgets and fewer, often less knowledgeable, staff. Pay-as-you-grow performance and capacity scalability, manageability, and data availability are not any less of a requirement than with the large organization. Products designed for the smaller IT budgets usually have artificial limitations. They can not scale performance or capacity without a forklift upgrade. The NSM 2060 is LeftHand Networks’ next-generation SAN storage system. It is, by design, easy and affordable while delivering the rich SAN functionality an IT organization needs. This simple, turnkey iSCSI SAN solution allows you to start with what you need now. When more performance or capacity is required, simply add another node into your storage system without downtime.
Each 2U iSCSI SAN storage node includes: (1) SAN/iQ software license and (1) Dual Core 2.0 GHz Xeon Processor; 2GB RAM; (6) 450 GB, 15K RPM SAS drives; and 1-year Basic LeftHand system support (covering both hardware and software). The NSM 2060 provides complete redundancy with the highest levels of data availability including RAID 5 and 10 along with LeftHand Networks’ exclusive Network RAID levels for box-level redundancy. The system also includes 256MB of battery-backed cache and best-in-class data protection (see features below.) SAN connectivity is achieved through (2) 1Gbps Ethernet connections and an integrated DVD/CD-ROM drive.
The NSM 2060 is so affordable that it can even be used facilitate business continuity plans for remote offices. All LeftHand SANs include WAN data replication capabilities. This means an NSM 2060 utilized at the remote office or branch office (ROBO) provides the data protection consolidation back to the central data center LeftHand SAN. These capabilities greatly reduce the risks associated with natural disasters and other unplanned outages.
