cheap on ink
purchased this inkjet color printer from a suggestion of an HP employee. I was running into $6,000/yr ink toner costs with my HP color laser jet printer. Best printer I've had! prints super fast and at a fraction of the ink cost! purchased a second one for my other business. Highly recommend

Poor color adjustments
Well the speed on this printer is amazing, we were on able to adjust the color out put to a level of accuracy that worked for our consulting business where we need to print and very true color There are five color settings for this machine that are all automatic and each of them printed darker than true so we had to return this printer.

Speed at the cost of color accuracy
If accurate colors are important to you, then this is not the printer to get. Fortunately HP has an easy return process.

Impossible to set up to use
We bought the HP Pagewide Pro 552DW and we cannot get it to initialize so that we can start using the printer. This is the absolute worst experience I have had with HP and I am not sure if we will continue to use their products.

Fast Printing, Easy to Use
This printer is a great alternative to my HP Color Laserjet. The print quality of the PageWide isn't quite as good as the Laserjet, but the speed and software are better. It also don't have the networking problems I get from the Laserjet. All in all, this is a good value printer.

Terrible product - will not last very long
Our printer died after 16 months, and 3800 pages printed.
Was told it'll cost $300 to fix.

Super fast, doublesided printing good, FAILS
Paid full price for 3 of these. We've had them fail far too regularly. The cleaning cycles don't work, and use too much ink, when the only thing that clogs is the black.
HP support had no recommendations. No one services them that we could find. Time to look at more robust laser printers.
Too bad. They are amazingly fast.

Great for printing manuscripts
If you need a fast printer for printing books, then you NEED an HP PageWide. It's faster than most laser printers, and doesn't curl paper!! I print hundreds of books a month, and this thing hasn't failed me yet after about 6K pages printed in the first 2 weeks. The color profiles aren't very accurate if you're printing in color (unless you choose plain paper), but that doesn't bother me since I only need black ink. I haven't figured out how to make it not smear on glossy paper, though. If anyone has any tips for that, feel free to add your response!
Pros:
* Faster than most laser printers!
* Doesn't curl paper like laser printers.
* Fast auto-duplexing (around 45ppm)
* High resolution for simple graphics
* Crisp, black text.
* Large, economical ink cartridges.
* Hold an entire ream of paper.
Cons:
* Inaccurate color profiles (you have to make your own).
* Smears on glossy paper.
* Takes up a lot of space since the trays pull out from the left and front side).
* Never connected to wifi for me.

Won't print custom sizes from Tray 2
Before purchasing the Pagewide 552dw, I reached out to specifically make sure that this printer could handle 6*11 postcards (just printing addresses). I was told that it could handle 250 cards in the input tray and 100 cards of the weight I gave them in the output tray before I would need to grab the cards or refill. The tech specs say that Tray 2 handles custom sizes 4.0 x 8.3 in to 8.5 x 11.7 in. I ordered the printer, waited a week for it to arrive. Went to print 1,000+ postcard addresses on Thursday, only to spend hours Thursday with online chat tech support and 2 hours on the phone Friday with tech support. It will absolutely not take custom sizes in Tray 2 with the available drivers. So frustrating as I needed my marketing materials in the mail Friday....and now have to start researching a new printer, wait for delivery, and hope that one works. Plus, I have to box up the old printer and ship back, and fight not to pay a restocking fee.
