Rated 5 out of 5 by from HP - HP EliteBook 840 G6 Notebook PC So far this is a great, super fast machine. Just like the many HP devices I have owned in the past.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A reliable workhorse I have been using Elitebook 840s for the majority of our 70+ person company for 3 years now. I have found them to be very durable and reliable. Our employees travel with their laptops extensively and we have had very few problems (I can remember only 2 issues requiring repair in the last three years). These are definitely 'business class' machines; rugged, durable, and stylish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very poor screen 1 star reviews about the screen in 2 folds. 1. It's such a downgrade from my old 840 G4. Looking at the screen straight in the middle, I see dark spots around 4 corners, dark band along top edge at the highest brightness setting. 2. It's even worse with the integrated privacy screen (Sure View). I have to turn the brightness down to 30% to get good privacy from an side angle; but at this setting, I have much difficulty to read what's on the screen facing it directly. HP official site publishes a generic User Guide (nothing specifically for 840 G6) mentioning Fn+P turns on the highest privacy setting but I don't notice a single change on my screen. Compared to my team members' old x360 G2, their integrated privacy screen actually emits very bright white light to prevent people from reading what's on the screen from side angle. But 840 G6 decided to turn the screen darker. Very bad idea and HP QA didn't pick up such defect, I'm surprised (unless I'm not aware of something even though I did my trouble shooting and researching online as of 10/30/19).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HP is my "Go to" brand! I am a one woman consulting firm and I have had MANY brands over the years. My last laptop was an HP and it served me so well, I got another one. It is an EliteBook. My consulting business requires that I view large data spreadsheets and be able to VPN into the clients' systems. My EliteBook handles all the data burden I can throw at it and still it gives me the performance I want - no slowing down, no freezing. It is also quite light so when I am running in airports, it does not weigh me down. I highly recommend this product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like the graphics, disappointed in the performance I own a Dell with an 7th gen I5 core processor and 8GB RAM. I bought the HP with the 9th I7 core processor with 16 GB RAM because I need faster performance. The Dell is still faster. I sit them side by side running the same program and the 600 dollar Dell is faster than the 1900 dollar HP elitebook. The graphics are awesome. The HP video put the cheaper Dell to shame. I sit and stare at the screen for long periods of time and the HP is much easier on my eyes. Since I spent so much more on the HP, I was expecting better speed and functionality when running my graphic design software. I rated it a 3 for the graphics, but it's offset by the speed and performance. And the download speed is terrible also. Again, using the exact same internet connection, the Dell is faster at downloads.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not as good as 840G3 I bought the 840G6 in late March but it is still sitting on my desk unused. It just isn't as good as my 840G3. The 840G6 was sold to me as having all the features of the G3 but more advanced. However, it does not have a touch screen, and it importantly it doesn' t have a built in SD card reader. I am very disappointed in the G3.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from USB C port blocked with docking station I have always bought Dell computers but decided to switch to HP because I wanted a docking station that I did not have to open the laptop cover to power up (Dell does not make laptops that way anymore). Problem is the slimline docking station covers up the only USB C port. I’m not happy, now every time I want to transfer files I have to de-dock my laptop to access the USB C port, very poor design. Previous EliteBook designs had the mini card reader port where the current USB C port is unfortunately I did not pick up on the port conflict other wise I would not have bought it.
