Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not enough for entry level 3D CAD I got it with 1x8GB of memory and it should be at least 2x8GB for entry level 3D CAD. It is a pre-packaged deal for entry level 3D CAD and it did not meet the requirements

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Poor documentation and set up instructions I bought this machine to replace a 10-year old Dell that the hard drive failed. The HP came in a well constructed corrugated box. Upon opening the box I discovered that the tower was cradled gently in color-coordinated foam packing. Anticipating, I looked for the the enclosed documentation so that I could set it up. I found one sheet of paper, the Quick Reference Card, that listed several websites for documentation and support. Hmm, I thought, how do I access the websites when I don't have a computer to do that? Oh, wait! On the back of the Quick Reference Card, the very last item is a small barely legible illustration with quick setup instructions. Connect the mouse, keyboard and power cord. Done! Connect the monitor. Looking at the back, I see two DisplayPort connections. Of course, they aren't compatible with my monitor. So, off to Big Box for a cable. Back again, plug the cable into the monitor and the video port and fire it up. Nothing. Blank screen. Re-seat everything. Still nothing. Still don't have a working computer, how do I access support? Telephone! The Quick Reference Card has no telephone numbers. Time to find another computer to access support. Okay, I'm at another computer and go to the support site. I enter the serial number for my machine, and ... up comes a picture of a laptop. Fine, except I have a desktop. After looking through he available online documentation, I still don't find information about my particular configuration. After looking through the available online documentation and troubleshooting - supposedly for my serial number - on the last page of some manual, I found the Holy Grail!. A telephone number for support!. Copying this secret number, I hurried back to the computer and dialed the number. It was promptly answered by someone whose language skills were not compatible with mine. She politely asked for the computer's model, I think. I read her the information from the packing slip and was told she didn't recognize the model. At least I think that's what she told me. I repeated the information and was abruptly transferred to a French-speaking telephone queue. That not being a language with which I'm familiar, I hung up and redialed hoping for a better experience. This time, the agent and I could communicate enough that he quickly transferred me to second tier support. There, the agent was able to access my configuration and tell me that the DisplayPorts were disabled on my machine. He then told me about the mini-DisplayPorts - the ones that didn't show up in the included or online documentation. So, of course, this meant another trip to BigBox, which was closed. The agent arranged to call me back after I had an opportunity to get yet another cable. After another exciting trip to BigBox, I connected the new cable to the monitor and once more pressed the power button. Success! The agent was true to his word. He called me back, confirmed that the video issue was resolved. I thanked him for resolving my problem and not treating me like the dunce that I felt. With that issue resolved and after a couple of days in the hospital with pneumonia, I was able to finish the setup with only one more issue: the headphone jack didn't work. Using the online troubleshooting, the solution was to disable the speakers. While this did work, it seemed sub-optimal. In the end, I opted not to try the telephone support again and chose to bring a compatible cable from the speaker port on the back of the computer to the desktop so that I could plug in the headphones when I wanted.
