Rated 5 out of 5 by from Connectivity The only problem with this ThinkPad is that in order to receive internet connection via Wi-Fi is that you must first connect through Ethernet cable which is a hassle while trying to use various networks. The Ethernet connection has to be enabled each time you use a different network.

It is definitely a good value for someone who needs it for schoolwork or office duties. I am not a gamer, so I cannot speak to its ability to handle games, but for videos and web surfing it is very good. I installed Linux Mint on this laptop with no problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little laptop for travel I've had ThinkPads and IdeaPads for more years than I can remember. I've always been happy with them. My new ThinkPad 11e Gen 5 (11") is just fine for me, as I don't game or need heavy programs. My one annoyance is that the power button is on the side of the machine instead of on the keyboard, like my last IdeaPad was. When I lift this ThinkPad, I often accidentally touch the power button and it blacks out, which momentarily throws me into a panic. Touching the power button again -- usually a couple of times -- brings the screen back up as it was, but it's very annoying. I prefer the power button to be somewhere on the keyboard. Other than that, my only criticism is with Windows 11, and that's mainly with the Start menu. It took me quite awhile to reconfigure it to my liking. Windows doesn't seem to realize that people don't like their desktops disrupted. I also resent the way they're trying to force Bing on me. It's quite a tiresome workaround to make Chrome my default browser, but it can be done of course. Bit of a nuisance though. Overall this is a great little laptop for someone who needs little more than a glorified phone. The small size and light weight makes it perfect for travel. My Lenovo laptops usually last at least 3 years before they start acting up. I always wait for Cyber Monday to buy new ones for half price.

It doesn't have the USB ports that I took for granted it would have - just one that didn't fit my old Lenovo mouse connection. It took much longer to charge the battery than reported. The second time I turned it on the keyboard was frozen. I couldn't type a thing. I'm hoping for better.

If it was a normal priced existing model I would have been a bit more critical in the price/performance category. I only needed a very basic unit for emergency use, I prefer to do my normal computing activities on my full size, higher performing computers. I will not be doing any multitasking on this unit as it only has non-expandable 4 GB of RAM (the reason for not getting 5 stars). It is very small and light, boots up fast. It has two available USB3 ports and a USBC port. And the big selling point for me is that this unit still had an Ethernet jack. The computer comes with Windows 11 which works fine. I purchased a second NVMe drive for this computer with the intention of removing the Windows drive and installing Linux on it. Windows 11 performed well enough that I kept the Windows drive installed internally, and Linux Mate is on an NVMe/USBC adapter (not a trivial task, BTW). That worked fine. With Linux Mate: the networking, touchpad, and Bluetooth all worked fine. Just be careful to test whatever Linux you might intend to use 1st with a live USB install. I found that the touchpad and Wifi did not work with Linux Peppermint. Also note that this basic model does not have a Touch screen. Others have noted that various forms of Linux have issues with the Touch screen.

Windows 11 is Windows 11, Chrome and discord works just fine so no change to linux. It's a little chunky and heavy but for the price it's great.

Performance is on par for the Intel Celeron N4120 Processor, 8GB RAM is a nice plus. 128GB of PCI-e NVMe storage is a bit low, however, I installed a128GB Micro SDXC card to help. 11" screen and not too heavy. It is typical Lenovo ThinkPad high quality and would not let you down. Currently out of stock {I think discontinued} :-( . I AM thoroughly pleased!

It came with Windows 11, which was the need I had, understanding that this model was a bit older and did not have newer security features like Windows Hello and Windows Fingerprint (or whatever that is called now). Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for more than "educational" use I was looking for a replacement computer for primarily email and web browsing use. I didn't want to spend more than $300, and have always had good luck with Think Pads, so I waited for black Friday sales, and ended up buying one of these 11e 5th gen Yoga's. I opted for the 8 gig RAM model, to give it a little extra boost. Anyway, the machine arrived inside of 4 days, and after logging into my microsoft account and doing a little setup work, it was up and running without skipping a beat. The good: Love the keyboard. Easy to read, and good tactile feel. It is quick and responsive for a "low end" machine. (don't let the specs fool you!) It comes with a pen that docks and charges off the chassis...very cool, and is extremely sensitive...maybe almost too sensitive! Lots of useable ports for connecting whatever, including a full size HDMI port. While the case is plastic, it feels solid and well built. Sound quality is much better than I expected, and the speakers are decently loud at full volume. The bad...not a whole lot, so far, really. the case is a bit bulky and heavy, which I assume is since the primary target audience is kids. The bezel around the screen seems a bit large, but that may be to match up with the keyboard, but Lenovo could have easily gotten a 12" screen to fit. While not really a negative, it has this bright green light bar on the back side of the case indicating the wireless is on. I think this is for classroom use, so the teacher can monnitor online activity easily. Again, not a negative, just not something I'm used to. Overall, if you need or want an inexpensive windows machine, its a nice option, and a great little machine to use on the side without having to fire up a bigger laptop.

The memory is a bit limited and non-expandable, so I use a micro SD card to store additional data. Windows 11 is somewhat bloated for this machine, in my opinion, so I replaced it with linux plus LVM (logical volume management) and it runs much faster.

Knew I am only going to use this for light web browsing and youtube/netflix and the cpu exceeded my very low bar and runs quite fluently. Note i did get the 4GB ram version as I am not taking any chances on android's poor ram management. The only other competition in this price range are either the fire table (not native android) or samsung A8, neither of which has a IPS screen. So if strictly viewing content is your primary goal, look no further!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not bad if you consider the price I ordered this on sale so after taxes, shipping, and whatnot it came out to just under $180. For that price it's a great deal. With that in mind, you're only going to be able to run so many programs at once on this before it starts slowing down. You shouldn't have many issues browsing the web, streaming movies or shows, or anything like that but once you start going into programs like Photoshop or Premiere Pro, you're bound to run into some issues. Then again, for the price, that's expected. Honestly, my only complaints are with the screen. The screen bezels are huge by today's standards and the anti glare screen makes it so it has to be at some weird angles to make it look halfway decent but that seems to be an issue with these screens in general. Considering the price, I like it overall but I just wish they didn't go with the anti glare screen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding keyboard but heavy and thick Outstanding Lenovo ThinkPad keyboard. But, unfortunately, it is too heavy and it is too thick. Also, The bezel area around the screen is extremely large and wastes space, and makes the computer larger than it needs to be. I hope Lenovo creates another low cost education computer with the outstanding keyboard but lighter, less thick, and with a small bezel around the screen.

I have a desktop that I use for other things, but this serves a purpose for me. It is small, but still a nice size. It is well built and feels solid for its size. I needed something I can take with me on travel that can be used for web browsing and other minor tasks. I was surprised by the build quality of the laptop. It's a sturdy design that should last a long time. The processor and amount of RAM may be a bit weaker than I am used to, but given the price point and the expected usage it should be more than enough. Windows 11 seems to be running great thus far, but worst case I'll switch to a Linux distro in the future should the performance drop too much. Overall very happy with the purchase.

I've been a ThinkPad fan for over a decade, love the durability, even if dropped the laptop holds up without issues. Great quality for the price, I recommend this laptop.

The touch pad takes a bit to get used to, touching the bottom or top of the pad opens an option window, where as touching the middle actually clicks. This was frustrating until I figured it out. Though they are listed as having 360 hinges, mine layes flat but does not fold backwards.. or I'm afraid to force it...

The computer is pretty fast and can play a graphic intensive game pretty well . It is a bit small to open multiple screens but can handle it . I believe it will meet my needs for a decent travel computer .

Celeron N4120, 8GB RAM, 128GB NVMe SSD offer an acceptable experience. Not a powerhouse but great for instant on, use for quick access and then close lid. Bought it for the Lenovo name and it was on sale.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for the money if on sale Great value at < $200. I was able to install Ubuntu on it without any problems whatsoever. It looks sturdy. Obviously it is not a game laptop, but the hardware seems adequate for light, yet common tasks: web browsing, social networks, chatting, email, authoring docs, and so on. Cons: * The 11" monitor is 720p, which is low enough to have problems reading texts from screen (see the list of common tasks above). The screen shows a tiny portion of a text I want to read. * The webcam is 720p too --- I just mention it here, but I don't think it is a big deal. * Instead of a now standard USB-C (1 is present) the power supply unit uses some custom connector. It means I have to lug one with me. * The laptop is heavier and bulkier than I expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terribly Misleading. Extremely cheap system. Lenovo advertised this as a $900+ unit with a huge $750 discount. Nobody would ever pay $900 for this unit. But based on their pricing and the written specs, I thought I was getting a decent unit (I mean a MacBook Air goes for around the original price). This thing was a total piece of cheap crap. Screen has a bezel from 1992. The power plug is proprietary, really? In 2023 on a laptop you can't use a standard plug? And finally it's super thick and has a terrible design to the case. I ended paying less than $200 after my "coupon" and it wasn't even worth that. Had to send it back without even turning it on it was a terrible unit. Wouldn't have kept it for $100. It's awful.

It's ugly, but it's light, sturdy, and has a very satisfying keyboard. So far the battery life has been great, and I love how quickly it boots up and shuts down. It also doesn't have Dell's annoying issues with being unable to wake the computer out of sleep mode if left unattended. For word-processing and using the internet on the go, this is a terrific laptop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Laptop (with reasonable expectations) This laptop is good with reasonable expectations. CPU is fairly responsive and handles most online tasks well. It starts quickly and has longer battery life than my Ideapad 3 (10th gen i3). Included USB-C (but not for charging???) and wired network connection (both items missing from the Ideapad 3).NVMe hard drive was upgradable but since only smaller type fits, the replacements are limited or expensive (still had the 256 one I removed from the Ideapad 3 which was same size). Good deal with 8gb memory especially since you can't add more. The screen is not full HD and not good off center. I share this so you know what your getting into. At $179 I can't hold any of these issues against it. Able to install Linux Mint alongside Win 11 and no wonky behavior (again better than the Ideapad 3). Stronger body does not feel fragile. I would recommend at this price point but not at the normal $900+ price.

I spend a lot of time outside and in the best environments and it has handled all of it with ease. It’s amazing when and where you need to make a Power Point and this does it without fail. When I am connected to the internet it goes so fast and because of its size and how easy to use I will sometimes use it over my phone. It’s awesome and worth the money.

I wear glasses. But that hasn't been the case at all. Although the screen is small I didn't need to increase the display scale as I originally thought. I appreciate it's compact size for ease of transport. So far so good. ??

I did think I was purchasing a Win10 machine, but that's not the end of the proverbial world. Battery life has been solid on this 11e ThinkPad. I am primarily using it to video-out (HDMI) to my basement TV so I can watch Sky News or a live game while I research & write.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little portable study machine A great little machine so I can take it to the library with me and I can also take it to my counseling appointments so I can use Microsoft Note so I can maintain notes for the appointments it just so good with a bad shoulder it's light so it's really easy to use and carry with a bad shoulder also very sturdy so it can just be thrown into a bag and go as you need to go sometimes I have to be gone within a minute notice because living in an apartment building we don't get notice when the bug man shows up we have to leave for 2 hours so it's just so quick to throw in the bag and go

I feel like my toddler could do a number on it and it would still work. If you want something sleek or with amazing graphics or whatever get something else. It essentially serves as a portable typewriter, but I have to say that the screen is worse than I expected. Compared to all my other screens, it just looks like it's dimmed all the time, no matter what I do to increase its brightness. Otherwise, the laptop is convenient, lightweight, and the battery lasts hours. Not bad.

I understand the ram is on the low side but i did not expect it to run so slow. I needed something more reliable and able to handle my workload. I am sure this is a good laptop for people that aren't trying to run many programs at a time.

Indeed that is what was stated on the Lenovo website. So I bought three of them with the thought that I could resell two of them and keep one for my self free of charge. Well everywhere I go the price for this laptop is only selling for 180.00 big disappointment. Although this is a decent laptop at it's current price point of 160.00 I do not see where anyone would pay 800.00 or 900.00 for the spects it has. Epic Failure.

I find it extremely frustrating.. It's a nice computer for whatever it's supposed to do it doesn't do what I need.

It's speedy...and has windows 11 installed.It replaces another very old ThinkPad that is stuck on Windows 10. Are there laptops with more/better features? Sure there are, but you'll also pay a lot more. For handling emails, streaming and doing on-line purchases this machine is perfect. The small form factor makes it great for traveling too. Very happy...so happy I purchased another for my wife.

They are being used for tutorial services for students in the community to improve their Reading and Math skills. The students were able to use them this week to develop and create PowerPoint Presentations from a Skittles Candy Activity. They used the PowerPoint slides to create charts and graphs. They enjoyed using these laptops. We need a total of 12 more to use with the other class of students. They are some awesome devices.

It seems very stable and the screen has great color and clarity. If I had it to do over again, I would pay the extra and get the "Yoga" model of this. But this is good for what I got it for.

Perfect for my uses for personal spreadsheets, email, streaming shows, and web browsing. Great performance and fan is quiet unlike our previous computer. Finally got it and while it’s considered an education machine, that’s what it does well and I don’t need anything more from it. It’s snappy for web browsing, terminal use, and email / videos. It’s built like a thinkpad and I’ve taken it outside without worrying about it getting ding and scratched up. While you can get used thinkpads for the same , it’s nice knowing it’s a new machine and has the warranty for any issues. Don’t go in expecting to be able to do any kind of video editing, gaming, or very heavy cpu or gpu stuff.
