I wanted a 15inch version of my p14s..... i love that machine but my eyes are straining as i get older. With this P15 it is MUCH bigger and heavier.... so instead of eye strain maybe i get back strain

Rated 5 out of 5 by from P15 Series 1 with reference to P52s and P17 Much lighter than I expected. The fan does not run continuously as some internet reviewers have stated. Previously I used a P52s where the fan did run continuously when performing heavy work such as cad, but the P15 does not, though it does come on occasionally. The P52s was dreadfully slow when on battery only, sometimes 3 minutes before the login screen showed. while the P15 hasn't shown any difference between battery and plugged in mode. Another note about the fans is that they exhaust out the back and the bottom and as compared with the P17 which exhausts out the right side directly on to the where the hand is using the mouse, ouch its uncomfortable, not here. Battery life is about four hours so far, not sure I would reach the Lenovo quoted numbers, but I feel comfortable with the life so far. Keyboard is great and quiet and the screen resolution is outstanding. I do which Lenovo could find a way to change to more vertical screen space on the future offerings.

The large screen also makes it easier to see, helpful for my bad eyesight. My only little fault is that the computer is pretty heavy, but for its size and strength I suppose that's expected.

Did i say fast- literally minutes faster than my i5. This is going to save me about 1800 minutes per year. Not sure why i waited so long.

Lenovo really has clearly simplified its mobile workstation lineup with three 15.6-inch models. The ThinkPad P15 I bought (Part Number: 20SUS5W300) is equipped with a dazzling 4K display and a colossal eight-core Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDIA® Quadro® T1000 4GB GPU. I was lucky to grab the deal during holidays. In comparison to my previous work laptop, this laptop has been performing quite better in terms of speed and heating while running enterprise applications. Also, compared to my P50, P51, and W530, the keyboard no longer has instant access to volume controls (without Fn or Fn-locked). The keys on the P50 that were dedicated to this, have been reassigned to be =, (, and ) above the numeric keypad. Hopefully there's a way to remap the keys to do volume control. Non-removable battery is a stupid idea, but that was true of the P51 too. Could also use another drive bay--I liked the P50's 2 m.2 slots + 2.5" slim drive slot, but even having a 3rd m.2 would be an improvement. To sum up: fix the thermals so I don't need a lap fan, put volume controls somewhere on the keyboard, make the battery replaceable again, and add more drive slots.

A little bit bulkier than expected but it really can do everything that I need it to do from 3d modeling to the occasional gaming session. Sometimes the fans get really loud but that is also expected from a computer like this.

It is a little more on the heavy side compared to the Dell I switched from, but the heat dissipation is better and the vent is in a great location to add an additional cooling fan.

The price shown online was not the price I was charged since the ecoupon didn’t apply at time of my order. I called and was told it could not be applied until an invoice was created. I was billed the incorrect amount and received the laptop in a week. I’ve spent the last 3 weeks trying to get the ecoupon amount applied to my account and have been unsuccessful. Very disappointing since this was out 5th Lenovo purchase and we have been very happy in the past.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overviw of my new ThinkPad P15 Gen 1. My previous ThinkPad was a P51 so I was familiar with the basic form and function of my new P15 Gen 1. Three things that I like about my P15 are: The UHD 600 nits screen; bright and clear. the Dolby Atmos sound system and the blazing fast Xeon W-10885 processor. Three things that I don't like are: The missing SSD Led activity light that was on my P51. The 230W power brick gets very warm indicating higher electricity draw. The built in battery requires removing bottom covers to replace vs the sliding latch that releases the battery on my P51. Over all I would have liked to have been able to give this a 4.7 star rating vs just a 4 or a 5.

The fan is on even during normal browsing but its not very loud although you do hear the whooshing. This is however the closest to perfect as a workstation laptop I have been on. Keyboard is great and the 10 key is nice to have. Touch pad is a bit jittery though. I would overall recommend if you are using cad and render programs and if you can get a good deal on one.

This is the first time I've worked on a mobile workstation, previously it was underpowered laptops. The speed is fabulous for my needs. The display quality - so enjoyable. One of my favorites is the feel and responsiveness of the keyboard. I'm a ThinkPad convert!

Otherwise, it is a good machine. I paid extra for premium service. I approached them for the battery issue, but they were quite unhelpful, basically telling me that the battery was fine and not responding to my questions about any solutions for the short battery life (such as any external packs, etc).

I like having all the ports (hdmi, usb, usbc.... i have it configured with 16 or 32 gb pf ram and 1 tb of storage. use it for work mostly running CAD, Revit, SAP2000, RISA, and other engineering software with no issues so far. I dont mind the weight or thickness since its more workable and repairable compared to the thinner laptops.Battery life isnt the best but i dont mind, just bring your charger

This laptop is extremely powerful and performs similarly my desktop of the same class. PROs: - The graphic card. - 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports. - It's easy in add a secondary NVMe hard drive and more RAM. - The keyboard is Excellent, with capital "E". - There are USB ports on all three sides of the laptop, so it's easy to place it in virtually any setup. - The battery life is great. CONs: - No dedicated docking station connector (usually under the laptop). You have to use a Thunderbolt/USB docking station.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect laptop with similar desktop performance I have the P15 Gen 1 with the Intel Core-i9 and nVidia RTX 4000, accompanied by 32GB of ram. This review is for this setup. As far as build quality, it is built very well with great sturdy hinges for the screen. The plastic composite used here feels and looks amazing. It has a premium feel to it despite not having an outer metal shell. Having opened the bottom panel to see what options are there for future RAM and SSD upgrades, the inside is mounted onto a sturdy metal frame. Overall this makes for a unique build that is strong and durable. The performance of the laptop is amazing. It blows my mind that this laptop performance is comparable to my desktop (Core-i7 8700K, 32GB ram, 1TB nvme SSD). I now have a powerful desktop in a laptop form factor that runs all my work and personal applications well. It can compile my code in the same amount of time as my desktop. That's amazing. Software support for running Linux on this machine is well done. I had no issues installing openSUSE onto this machine. Linux driver support was perfect. The screen has accurate color and is sharp for a 1080p screen. It also gets very bright and makes it easy to work next to a window with sunlight coming in. The keyboard is of course, amazing. I have always loved Thinkpad keyboards and it excells once again. The touchpad is easy to use and very accurate. It also has a nice physical feel to it and physical buttons above. The ability to click by pressure down onto touchpad works well too. Battery life is decent under heavy load. If it's light load I can get 10 hours out of a charge easily. Under medium/high load for work I get about 5 hours, which isn't that bad as I am constantly compiling code and bursting the CPU to max, overall giving a solid showing for medium to high overall loads. When running under windows you will get better battery life. Windows manages to give me about 14 hours under light load and 6 hours under heavy load. Overall this is an amazing workstation to have on the go. I am very happy with the laptop and it's ease of use, along with an easy upgrade path for the SSD and RAM.

Built quality is robust, as to be expected for a ThinkPad, and the 4K display is quite beautiful and arrived calibrated. Very happy with performance so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Laptop So far I have been very pleased with the speed and processing power, but I have learned to expect good things from ThinkPads. I had made the transition to Apple products around the time of the first iPhone release because of the seemingly endless array of issues that usually came along with Windows and PCs back then, but have been slowly accumulating Windows based PCs again... Seems to me like the tide has started to shift? This ThinkPad is faster and (so far) has not had even a hiccup, performing better and more reliably than my souped-up MacBook Pro... which incidentally cost more than twice as much as my new ThinkPad, and I bought it more than 3 years ago. Way to go, Lenovo. Six or seven years ago, I wouldn't have thought it possible, but you may have won back someone who had defected to the world of Apple.

It is a fully functional, fast, and capable workstation, running my entire Office 365 Suite and Photoshop or Illustrator at the same time without issue. My only complaints are the weight and noise, but I was fully aware of these issues before I purchased the machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent workstation So far (two weeks in, I'm happy with my Workstation. No problems with the hardware, drivers, software, or setting up. The processing speed is as expected and the graphics processor has worked smoothly so far. Shipping was quick and customer service has been very good. If anything, I wish this model had been offered with 64 GB RAM, as I often work on very large files in Photoshop. The UHD screen is absolutely overkill for a 15 inch screen. I'm not able to see a significant difference from my 2016 Workstation with an HD screen. That many pixels is too many for the human eye to discern. Overall, an excellent computer and I'm looking forward to continuing to work with it.

This laptop is all about business and the performance is incredible. I bought the unit with 4K touch display/ 128GB of ram/Intel Xeon Processor/ 1TB SSD and the RTX 5000 Graphics card. Performance is meant for professionals and it’s really been top notch with everything I throw at it. If you Travel a lot and need the best performance for your work, look no further. This is the laptop you need.

Not only does it have top of the line security with the options of facial and fingerprint scan for access, but the computer is very easy to set up and learn to use for first timers while also having he ability to cover all of the complex skills a student or employee need on a day to day basis.

Though the T430 remains one of my favorite machines, this computer provides a much more comfortable working experience as the screen, keyboard, and touch-pad are massive improvements over previous models. Of course, the high-spec GPU and 64 GB of RAM also enable superior image processing/rendering and CAD modeling, which are the main focuses of my job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value, Quality Machine Purchased from Lenovo Outlet (faster delivery) after canceling X9 Carbon (delivery issue). My Thinkpad is a desktop replacement, that replaces a Dell. The Dell (purchased from friend who worked for Dell) replaced 2 prior Lenovo's. I am back to a Thinkpad. This Computer is solid, feels solid, and you can tell it is a quality machine (over the Dell by far). Solid metal frame.box. Not plastic. Great Keyboard "feel". All around, this is a quality box that should withstand going through the airport or in the trunk of a Harley. I do not see the 1 LB difference between this box and the X9 as an issue. Personally, I like the solid feel of this computer over my wife's HP and my old Dell. Lenovo should have its "welcome-set up" software run through everything when you turn it on to better assist with the transition from old computer. The should also WARN YOU NOT to set up the computer off of Microsoft's website Microsoft creates you identity file from the first 5 letters of your name. That created a HUGE problem for me when installing old files and micros. (Address issues). I have not had any over heating, crashing, or other issues that have been noted by other users, and very little promo/ad situations. Lenovo also got the message re: no bloatware. My box: 32GB ram, laser log on and sleep (better than I thought it would be) and 10th Gen Intel i7. This is a fast box that compares with machines costing hundreds more. I would recommend a Thinkpad P to a friend.

I really like the feel of the keyboard and the screen (I upgraded the resolution) is crisp and bright. It's also great to have the number keypad built in. Haven't done any major computing yet but the P15 is fast and efficient. I gave it 4 stars just because it's so large and heavy, but hard to beat for these specs without breaking the bank.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Basic solid computer so far Coming from two primary work laptops and a single personal - Toshiba Techra, Dell Vostros, and Lenovo Flex. Lacks a lot of bells and whistles, but is a solid basic computer. Graphics seems to be pretty good, not up to heavy gaming standards, but good. More than enough for pictures, high resolution geoinformation data, and standard SD video. The one thing I'd say "bugs" me about this laptop is that the CTRL and FN keys are reversed from most keyboard layouts I've dealt with - a pain when using CTRL-C / CTRL-V. On the bottom left of the keyboard, FN is the outermost key, then CTRL is just inside of it - as opposed my other keyboards where it was CTRL at the outside and FN. Not a big deal. Having been in the back yet, not sure how hard / easy it is to replace memory / hard drive, but doesn't appear to be very difficult access. For linux users, BIOS access is pretty easy with good boot options, so it doesn't appear too difficult to do either a hard drive partition or USB for a linux installation.

Really powerful device, would highly recommend if you want a laptop as strong as a desktop. My only complaint is that the fans are very loud.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OK with some significant disappointments Got this laptop for work and out of the box was disappointed by the non standard plug and the sheer weight of the device. Every other laptop I own from the high end macbooks to my other thinkpads all use the standard usb-c for power. The t15g uses some other port and wont even charge from what usb-c ports are available. Plus the power supply unit itself is huge and requires a regular PC power cord just for the adapter. The weight, while tolerable, is significantly more than my other three 15/16 inch laptops, making it less desirable to use than other laptops. With all that weight I'd expect a lot more performance, but it's only marginally better than my other thinkpads and only on par with the Macbook pro. Overall it's a good desktop replacement, with the intent of being on a desk and stuck into a docking station, but really not something you'll want to be lugging around and using on your lap. Personally, it's a real disappointment.

I bought it to use as a voicewriter Court Reporter because I needed a computer that was able to run multiple programs efficiently at one time. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid, Quality. Quality. I bought a Lenovo based on using a Yoga as my work computer and having zero issues with that 8 hours a day, 5 days a week and 49 weeks a year. To this point I have had no issues and it has performed flawlessly. My home functions include internet searching, and light spreadsheet processing. The two things I am not fond of is the two finger scroll and the Fn key being where the CRTL key should be. But that won't effect my rating. I will say that my previous computer was only 2 years old when it failed. My 11 year old computer from the same company is still functional, but not sure I would buy from the farmer in the Dell again.

The graphics card works great when your programming with unity and blender if but will take away 3 hours of your battery life when not plugged in using the graphics card and high performance mode. The battery life is decent when searching the web application and not using the rtx graphics card you can get about 5-6 hrs of battery life. It helps to take off one drive and applications that you don't use to conserve more battery life and power saver mode when you don't need best performance. I gave it 4 stars because for the price your paying the battery should at least last 12 hrs searching the web. Other than that this is a great laptop and would still highly recommend it

It’s power was stunning. I can create or edit any HD video on want on the go. I use this machine for creating artwork for promotional purposes and everything is fluid and streamline. No lagging, fast startup and shutdown and foe the price and power the machine is quiet. Highly recommend if you’re a serious professional. Also, it’s upgradable. Don’t waste money on Apple products which don’t even permit RAM upgrades. Choose a machine like this one that you’ll never have to replace for lack of memory or speed. As it is though, I can’t imagine ever needing to upgrade anyway.

My husband has owned several Lenovo's for many years, but this was my first. It is everything that I expected and more. It boots quickly, has very vibrant colors on its display, and it quite easy to use. I plan to use it for 6-10 years so I believe it will be good for that.

I searched for months to find a laptop with thunderbolt with a numeric keypad and a 7200 spin HDD with 1TB of storage. I needed to be able to connect to my recording equipment via firewire adapters and this did the job beautifully! The only issue I have is I cannot seem to find how to keep the keyboard back light always on. It defaults to off after the lid closes or it goes into sleep mode. Other than that this I am very happy with my purchase. It was worth the price I paid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Workstation I purchased the model with the standard 8GB and 256GB RAM/SSD. Only upgrade was the i7 chipset and Dolby 500HDR screen. It was far cheaper than factory options to get Crucial Ballistix RAM cards and Crucial P5 SSD drives and swap them myself. The modular ability to add additional RAM and SSDs with just a few screws and 15 minutes of time is fantastic. Literally anyone can do it, and they even have a y=Youtube video showing you how from their website. The Dolby HDR 500nit screen is incredibly bright, and has beautiful color response. The keyboard feedback is also impressive, just as you would expect from a Thinkpad. It's currently running multiple external 4K monitors, an intensive modeling and estimating program, HBO Max, email, Spotify, and rendering software. Only issting at 23% CPU usage and 28GB of RAM out of 64GB. Temperature while plugged in and doing this all day long never gets above 69C on the computer. It's a great power house, and totally worth it.

The screen is just o.k. I do like that it is 4k but the anti-glare coating really cuts down on the amount of sharpness and vividness of the colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lenovo user since it's inception. app software windows does not function proportionally right with this machine. it opens up small. it needs constant adjustment. screen hue cannot be adjusted causes tiring of the eyes. I think it has to do with touch screen capability. I might be wrong on this particular point. I had to get a new external monitor since the older HDMI could not handle the resolution.

I selected this machine for its solidworks compatibility listing, and it has generally performed well. I still get some graphics glitches in solidworks that require a restart, but that may not be the computer's fault.

Very happy addition to our event production team, and an upgrade we've needed for a while. I do wish the trackpad and palm rest didn't attract so many finger prints, the T430 dimpled style trackpad would be nice. LOTS of ports make up for it though, hard to find in most of today's laptops.

The number pad on the right side of the keyboad for a laptop is completely unnecessary and only makes the positioning of the actual keys very awkward. I have another laptop that I frequently use for my job and switching from that laptop to my personal Thinkpad takes a readjustment curve! also, the keyboard now is not centered so my hands are both skewed towards left! A very bad failure in the desing I must say.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great notebook, two minor annoyances Solid notebook with two annoyances. I purchased this notebook to switch from an older MacBook Pro after waiting for new MacBook Pros. I manage Windows Servers and using the Lenovo P15 is a solid choice. Everything about it is professional. The two annoyances I have are (1) the mouse is not centered on the case, just on the alphanumeric portion of the keyboard. While having the numberpad is nice, I find my left wrist and the base of my arm being poked by the bottom left corner of the case when I'm typing. I've been using an external keyboard to resolve this issue. The second (2) issue is that the bottom of the top of the case (just below the trackpad) is a bit in your way, also when typing on the P15. I wish the edge were a bit smoother or contoured. Other than those two annoyances, no issues with the P15.

I got a laptop in Jan 21 that a week later presented this problem that had to have the computer sent back to get fixed. The rep knew exactly what it was before I was even done describing it. Bought another laptop in July, the SAME EXACT problem. As a production line issue I feel this really should have been fixed.

(Photoshop/Lightroom/Luminar AI) This laptop manages the workflows extremely quickly which increased my productivity. Edits which would bottleneck my former laptop are now possible with all apps open. Now I can reduce the turnaround time for delivery which should make my customers happy and let me take more jobs now that post processing is not so time consuming. Battery life is poor (about 1 hr under heavy load) but I value performance more and this delivers.

It's so much more sturdy than my last laptop (HP which would get multiple cracks just from picking it up. I love the backlit keyboard and the feel of the keys. Some of the keys are placed in different locations than what I am used to but I'll get use to it soon enough I'm sure. What's really important is how smoothly it operates. I am working from home as well as my own personal use, so it gets a lot of use. I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

The track point also stops working randomly. The laptop is also a magnet for fingerprints and dirt. Otherwise this thing is a beast. Definitely recommended as a mobile workstation.

I have had clocking issues, screen issues, docking station issues, power consumption issues. I have a dead pixel on the screen, the main control board has had to be replaced. My Jabra headset works only when Lenovo decides it can work, it constantly been virtually worthless from the day we got this machine.

While using Unity for building and rendering my Games, it handled the load pretty well. As other users have mentioned, the screen Flickers once after every 10-20 seconds. This can get really annoying at times. The display drivers installed are all up to date and still the problem persists. Sometimes the laptop does heat up a fair bit under normal workloads(Netflix, Browsing etc..) Have seen it heat up under all Power modes. Hopefully will get a fix from Lenovo for these two issues. Apart from that, overall it's a great laptop and worth it.

Purchasing the P15 Workstation was quick and painless, while setting it up was just as easy. In fact, I was able to thoroughly enjoy setting up and customizing my new laptop because the initial steps were quick and easy. I am not disappointed in The quality of the build. Everything feels firm and responsive. Probably the best part was shipping. My estimated shipping date was almost a month and a half after order placement. I’m a patient fellow, so I wasn’t all that worried. HOWEVER, my workstation and all accessories delivered within TWO-WEEKS! I am excited to own a P15 Workstation and have been having excellent results as far as performance is concerned. However, it is still a little early to give a concrete opinion as to the hardware’s capability to support extensive software. That being said, I have run a few different CAD programs through this beast just to make it sweat a little, and with good ventilation it was comfortable to use and it didn’t feel like I was needing to wait for it to catch up. The built-in mic didn't work for WebEx either, so maybe it's a WebEx setting I need to investigate. Otherwise, everything is great. The keyboard is comfortable; love the 10-key; the screen is beautiful.

Was expecting something really bulky but I was happy to find it was rather slim for a five pound computer. The good thing about it not being as thin as t490 is it can be modified and worked on with ease. I have for slots for short term memory as opposed to one some computers that’s memory is soldered to the motherboard. Customer care is excellent, overall extremely happy customer. Can’t wait to get my auto cad going and maybe down the road upgrade the screen to be touchscreen(only if a Lenovo tech can do it)

Fan is very noisy when in full performance mode and seems to stay on full speed once it has revved up. Hopefully this will be fixed. Disappointed that it has only two internal storage devices rather than three like p50. Camera is about the same quality as p50 and no Face ID. The battery is no longer removable. Same good quality but overall it feels disappointing after waiting 4 years for new machine. This is my 4th think pad over past 12 years. Service is stellar and main reason I keep buying them.

I had purchased and returned a 2020 Dell XPS 15 which did not have near the expandability nor the number of ports the Lenovo has. Also, the Dell had issues with its touch pad. The Lenovo is a solid piece of equipment. It's only drawback is that it is a heavy beast, as compared to the Dell.

When it was time to buy another computer I decided to give ThinkPad another go. I was satisfied with the build specs, price, and reviews. When I received the P15 Gen 1, I was delighted with the unit until two weeks after purchase, it simply died while I was looking at the screen and would not come back on. After about an hour on the phone with a support tech, he determined that one of the circuit boards must have shorted out and the unit would need to be sent to their repair depot for service. Not what I expected ... Merry Christmas :(

I got it through leasing which is something I haven’t found anywhere else for any other computer companies and was the only way I could afford a laptop. I use it for college and gaming when I have free time. I’ve always used desktop computers and I can’t believe I haven’t switched over sooner. Far Cry 5, no problem. GTA V, no problem. Model creation in Blender and Unity, no problem. I can load up GIMP for photo editing much faster than my desktop. I have no problems using this for school. I love this laptop and in love with Lenovo as a company.

I managed to easily replace my desktop computer, and use the laptop for all of my tasks, seamlessly connecting 3 monitors to it. Its size and weight is not the smallest but it is easily transportable, and in relation to its performance it is really a very positive balance. The battery consumption is good, and so is the construction material. It is also a positive point that it incorporates a numpad on the keyboard.

A couple of issues, first the ethernet cable clip is on the bottom not the top, real pain to quickly unplug ethernet cable (especially some of the snagless cables that have a difficult to push area). Second, when I perform hardware mute on the microphone (-F4) while using the internal speakers will mute the speakers after 4 seconds (found this out on a Zoom call), hopefully this will be fixed in a driver update soon. Would definitely purchase again. This is a beast of a machine. I am using as desktop replacement, with 4 external monitors as well as the built-in screen as well for 5 monitors!

Given it's only been a month there's not much to say about it, everything worked great out of the box, specs matched the order, shipping was well packed and fast. I do wish they still used the docking stations where the laptop clicks in, not really sure why they got away from those. I am struggling to find a decent docking station for this. I could also go for a third USB-A port, mouse and keyboard take up the two full time, but this is something a docking station would resolve. The web cam however, is junk

The keyboard is very nice, however two keys are reversed... CTRL and FN. I had colleague that had issues, but thought this would have been resolved. Makes using an external keyboard cumbersome for the copy n paste functionality. During the selection process, the battery life was not disclosed, only 3-4 hours on minimal work load.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast - gets the job done On paper and in use this is a fast workstation, but I have concerns about longevity of use with my applications since out of the box Lenovo only has nvidia 433 drivers, while my primary application requires nvidia driver 45X, which us now up to version 455 with even 450 U3 released by nvidia, but Lenovo is not providing an updated driver. So spend $3K on a laptop that can't run the intended application yet. Lenovo update your drivers.

So it might be a little bit uncomfortable to use on your lap in summer. I have run solidworks 2020 and mastecam so far. It can handle multiple parts and software without any problem. Battery life is 3.5 hours max if you are using internet only. It decreases with other softwares. I would like to have a middle mouse button on touchpad.

It breezes through analysis code that I used to have to fight to execute. It also can come with Ubuntu 20.04 which is a huge plus that I wish I had known when I purchased. I ended up dual booting this laptop and manually installing Ubuntu 20.04 and I can verify that it works very well with this laptop.

My highest Cinebench R20 score was something like 3850 which is what some overclocked HK models are getting with the Xeon 8 core mobile workstation processor. Click P15, max out settings, profit.

The touchscreen looks like it would be pixelated but is actually not and has great resolution. All apps are very responsive and there is no lag in performance. I have yet to run CFD simulations, but expect good performance given the performance of other apps.

It's slim, light and the dark color conveys and attitude of "we mean business". The new i7 cpu was a huge boost over my previous Dell i5, and the 1TB SSD only added to the impression of speed. After running AutoCAD software for a few days, this leap in performance is very noticeable and time-saving. The keypad and mousepad are very quite, easy to work with and I find my hands are not as tired after many hours or use. The 15" screen is just right and after staring at it daily I find my eyes are not strained or negatively affected. All the hi-speed ports, other interfaces, together with the long life battery round off a very professional workhorse fit for any power user.

I have the touch screen, and it's very responsive and accurate, and the display is very crisp and bright. My main apps run well on the i7 2.6GB processor with 16GB RAM. The device is thick and heavy (I joke that it's a moveable desktop), but I knew that from the specs. I was looking for a computer that would handle heavy applications like Lightroom without overheating. My previous Surfacebook was thin and light, but the fan roared all of the time, and it overheated enough to warp the case. This one has more room for ventilation and heat sinks. More than 90% of the time I use it at the kitchen counter or the couch and only occasionally carry it out of the house. My only disappointment is that I get only about 4-6 hours of battery life, even when doing low stress work. The thing has a huge battery that calls for a 170W power pack, and I expected more like 10 hours on a charge. I do use the Lenovo Vantage features to manage power usage that that helps. Overall a good purchase

Lenovo uses top of the line products that work well together optimizing speed, performance, durability, and sleek design. Massive storage and processing and blowing away the competition on price. I had my system needs quoted by 3 other manufactures and Lenovo beat them by 40% and backs their product by a great warranty. When the system arrived less than a week later, (impressive shipping times) the system performed to my specifications.

It feels solid and it's fast but so far the mother board has been bad (replaced) and the memory has been bad (replaced). As you can imagine, it's been a major navigation to get it fixed, rather than being run around on endless time consuming wild goose chases that didn't fix it. Luckily there are some good US techs who work here. I may have a good computer finally but it hasn't been a month yet, so time will tell.

Only complaint is that very occasionally the TrackPoint stops responding, by using the touchpad you can still navigate just fine but only a restart brings the TrackPoint back to life. Now if you prefer to always use a touchpad (I do not - no problems at all.

Several years ago I decided no more Lenovo laptops. My wife has had a P50 for many years. She really likes it. As a result, I decided to try the P15. I've had it for a little more than 1 month. The keys are very well sculpted for ease of typing. The screen is bright and clear. The response is fast. I use the computer for documents, Photoshop, and other business applications. No games.

Some minor issues in build quality/QA (keyboard is raised near the trackpad suggesting misalignment, display ever-so-slightly misaligned, but besides that it's been phenomenal! Powerful, too. The thermal solution works very well if you give it the chance (i.e. don't expect it to stay super cool while generating an intensive render while it's intake is 90% blocked by your lap). The digitizer for the touch screen gives the screen a super "grid-like" look if you sit too close, which is unfortunate because there's a 4K OLED panel underneath, but I suppose it becomes tolerable over time.

My last laptop was a lower end model Lenovo, and it worked like a charm too which is why I purchased another one. The pricing for this one was super duper. I definitely recommend Lenovo laptops to others. My ThinkPad has an Intel Xeon processor, 32 GB RAM, 1TB SSD, and Nvidia Quadro RTX 4000 8GB. It more than meets all of my needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Far, A Solid Mobile Workstation So far, so good. Fast, high quality screen. Keyboard has good feel. No issues multitasking so far, though I haven't really pushed it yet. I've been using WSL2 for a week or so and no issues there. Battery life is decent for a workhorse machine, but only lasts a few hours (~4? not exactly sure of non-stop Zooming. Love having a number pad on the keyboard, though shifting my hand positioning to the left to accommodate it took some getting used to. The built in webcam shutter is a nice touch. Definitely not a light machine, but hey, it's a workstation, so I guess that's to be expected. The Lenovo Vantage software is kind of nice for fine tuning options. For example, there's a setting that allows me to tell the computer to stop charging at 80%, even if it's plugged in, in order to prolong the life of the battery. One thing to note, it took about a month and a half to arrive after purchasing it online - probably due to COVID-related delays.

When using two additional monitors the fans are almost constantly on. I use Revit and it performs well. I will change my review if I experience any changes in to product, I have only had it a week.

Fantastic laptop with exceptional performance. 128GB Ram, 4 TB SSD, and i9 Processor allow me to whiz through Complicated Microsoft Project and Excel files and have multiple files open all at the same time on two external 4k screens and the laptop screen. Exceptional experience. This laptop replaces my 6 year old Lenovo W540 which is still going, but limited and showing signs of age.

USB 3.x ports are on both sides, so less wires on your desk. CONS: because of numeric pad, the keyboard and the touchpad are not in the middle of the screen and this could be very, very annoying especially if you are sit on a armchair with your laptop on your legs. Well, this happen if you're not left-handed, off course.

A few cons, 1) Seems there is an issue with the physical microphone mute key. It happened many times that muting microphone also muted the speaker, sometimes it's impossible to physically mute microphone but have speaker on. 2) the outer edges around the keyboard are too sharp, which can easily cut the fingers or wrist. 3) The edges around the screen are tooooooooooo wide, which make the computer look bulky. 4) waking up from sleep takes much longer time than previous Thinkpad models.

I am a full-time Cinematographer | DIT | Film Editor | Special Effects working from home and the ThinkPad P15 has changed my life in 2021. I have had to call customer service only a couple of times due to my lack of knowledge and they quickly helped me resolve my issues. Fans are quite like a fine tuned Jet Engine when rendering large projects. I have not even pushed this machine past working with 5K footage at 200mbs rendering straight-out to my external SSD. I liked the idea of a 6 cell battery, but I must say it makes the whole laptop slightly heavier than expected. I don't mind the extra weight, I like the extra battery life. Granted I'm installing a ton of software that I use for school and it might be a lot of tasks at once, but I can feel the laptop heating up on the bottom (I've got it in my lap - which is not ideal). I guess a laptop pad or just having it on a hard surface is the way to go. With it's weight It is basically a portable desktop. I like all the cool new functions. It smells like a new car :) I'll try to remember to update this review after I've had it for a couple days/weeks. I previously got the T15p Thinkpad but ended up having to return it due to a hardware issue. The T15p was lighter and had basically the same setup, but was $400 more...so...you get what you pay for.

I needed an upgrade from an old T400 for photo and video editing, and this beats the MacBook Pro my job provided, for less than what they paid for the Mac.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ThinkPad P15 is beautiful and fast... Love this machine. It is ridiculously fast, boots up in seconds and there is no delay for anything. Screen is crystal clear. My only pseudo-negative is that I wished it had more USB ports.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Screen Flicker I'm surprised more reviews aren't mentioning this. Maybe I just got a lemon. But I experienced the same screen flickering issue many other people have mentioned about this device online. After thorough troubleshooting, I gave up and returned it. Maybe I am not their target customer, but given the price, I expected better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great workstation It's a great, powerful workstation. It's not a thin, dainty ultra book. It's a thick, hearty, comparably heavy workstation. With that, the workstation is powerful, has unrivaled quality and can endure some abuse. If you're on the fence about one, then buy it. Although thinkpads are generally more expensive, the quality will extend its useful life beyond other laptops, in my previous experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointed but Hopeful I neede a new laptop to run CAD software and decided on Lenovo due to past experiences. I unfortunately received a unit in which the screen flickered causing a return for service. I am disappointed but hopeful this can be resolved and have my laptop returned in working order. This was an expensive personal laptop for me and I am hoping buying direct from Lenovo was a better choice than a big box store option. I have been without my laptop for 2 weeks so far only receiving a confirmation that it was received at the service center and that due to COVID timelines have increased for service, hopefully it will be repaired and back home soon.

It has very superior features like supporting up to 128GB RAM (4 slots) and up to 4TB SSD (2 slots). I am really happy with this mobile workstation.
