Beast of a little machine
The x395 is an amazing little machine. The build quality is amazing, keyboard is great although it is a bit more cramped compared to my T480s. The thickness is about the same. The IPS touch screen is a great option with great colors. I am using this primarily as my on the go photo editing machine/light programming and am dual booting Windows and Ubuntu. It has all the horse power I need. I would highly recommend this machine for anyone looking for an ultra portable machine that will handle 90% of things you could throw at it.

Solid notebook. Atrocious battery life.
Lightweight and well built. Battery life is atrocious; not more than 4-5 hours, under normal use - email, web browsing with power saving features turned on. Display is average.

The computer is good, but maybe a little bit overpriced. It is a really small computer but for 1000€ I would have expected something more powerful. Battery duration is long, it will last your whole day.

Great for developers on the go
Use this laptop primarily for software development, and I love it for that task. The keyboard is so good that I have abandoned my peripheral keyboard. So if your primary task is going to be a lot of coding or typing, it really can't get better on a laptop than a thinkpad.
It is also quite portable. Wasn't quite as thin as I would have liked, but the fact that there's no compromise on ports I use, that's a trade-off I'm quite happy with.
It's great that we now have AMD options as they tend to be better for gaming, so I can use this to play a game when I'm on the move.
The only thing that fell short of expectation was the e-privacy screen, which does a decent job only when somebody is viewing from at least 45 degrees or more.
If you are a developer, you cannot go wrong with a thinkpad, and this model is good value for money! Plus, with the windows subsystem for linux, you can have your choice of distro to compile code much faster from within windows!

Light and powerful laptop
I bought this laptop to replace a 4.5 year old Lenovo X240 that served me well as my primary work computer. The X395 has plenty of horsepower, a great screen and is lightweight. My unit is brand new; it's still on its full charge. I'm not sure about the battery life as yet. It seems to be falling quite rapidly. I'll wait to see power consumption after a couple more charging cycles.

Great machine, a little overpriced, tight keyboard
Very small and light, good battery. Keyboard feels a little bit cramped. Unfortunate that memory and disk are not upgradeable (like some of the newest Apple MacBook products); this forces us to pay excessively high prices for what should be commodity SSD and RAM products.

Almost Perfect
Wonderful laptop, it does exactly what I need it to do. The one drawback that it has is that the port for the ethernet dongle port and the USB-C port directly next to it are spaced too close together such that they can't both be used at the same time (physical interference). Otherwise it is a great little laptop.

Excellent laptop with a few inconveniences
Excellent laptop! I played with the 7th gen X1 Carbon in Costco and this unit feels like an "X1 for the rest of us" - at a far lower price (both configured with 16G RAM and 512G SSD). It's quiet, it's fast, it's thin and it's light. I have yet to really put it through its paces and I haven't played any games, but all my productivity programs are booting up pretty fast and the X395 is keeping cool - the fan runs only during heavy SSD activity, such as during installations. Hardware wise, my only real complaint is that it does not have an SD card reader (even though I was pretty sure I ordered mine with a micro SD reader). A lesser point is that the lid doesn't open with just one hand. You literally have to hold the keyboard half down while you open the lid. It's also a shame that the LAN port had to come as a dongle. I really wish Lenovo had put in a space-saving flip-open LAN port, like the one on my nearly-as-thin ASUS VivoBook 14. Aside from that, the hardware is great. The keyboard feels nice (of course!), the TrackPoint works marvellously, and the trackpad is much improved from my old X230. Oh, and the sound was a pleasant surprise! I thought it would be "tinny" like the 6th gen X1 Carbon, but this one actually sounds pretty good! Not like "Wow!" - the way I felt when I bought the MacBook Pro - but still pretty nice. That was a relief.
Windows set up like a charm. The experience is even better than the Win10 setup I had on the VivoBook 2 years ago. I did run into some glitches, however. For example, system fonts appeared fuzzy because my default display setting is 150% the standard size. Somehow I got it (mostly) fixed. The other glitch is that when I changed my Chinese keyboard input to the non-standard Eten layout, the system says it's on Eten but nothing changed in actual use. I got around that by changing the system language a few times, but that was a pain and not everyone would have done what I did.
Overall, I am happy with my purchase - and happy to have a ThinkPad in my hands again. Aside from the SD card reader being missing, it does not disappoint. Would I prefer an X390 over this? No way! Not with the price premium! Do I miss the slightly bigger 14" screen? Actually, not at all! 13.3" felt bigger than I expected. Do I regret not having gotten the T495S, which has a bigger screen and is actually slimmer and lighter? No, because I heard about its high-pitched fan issue, because the X395 gets a better discount on Lenovo.com, and because this one fits in my bag just right. I just wished Lenovo didn't make me wait for so long. It took more than a month!

Amazing - light and powerful
I am absolutely satisfied with my new laptop. The physical build feels rigid and light in weight. The keyboard is the best I have ever used - travel is comfortable and soft, very silent, did not have to get used to it. The display provides bright and broad range of colours. Full HD videos, taken with my phone, are displayed with high frame rate and wide range of colors. When connected to a full HD TV, 1080p videos are played smoothly, no lag at all (in extended display mode - video showing only on one display).
Overall, I would definitely advise to purchase this laptop.

Good product, a few aspects to improve.
The machine is powerful and light. The Ryzen CPU is very fast.
A few considerations:
Lenovo should provide also an x395 with Linux OS installed.
There is no Linux driver for the by Synaptics fingerprint device.
The Ethernet extension cable should be included with the laptop instead of separately sold.

Very usable, versatile and portable!
I'm very pleased with my new ThinkPad X395 laptop. The size is perfect and I find myself using it in many locations versus having to rely on my smart phone so much. I just wake it up from sleep and it is ready to use quickly. Having cell data service on this laptop is a huge plus for travel. Battery life is very good as I find I'm not having to plug in all the time. The CPU speed and graphics are excellent for work and play. I use Adobe Illustrator for design work and it is good as it gets on a 13.3" laptop. I love the USB-C charging. It has a lot of flexible options for powering or recharging the laptop. I'm a radio control aircraft pilot so I have lots of LiPo batteries. I use my 22.2volt, 6,000mah LiPo batteries via a 24 volt USB-C car charger adapter to run this thing all day! I've maxed my X395 out with Ryzen 7 Pro,1TB SSD, 4G LTE, 16 GB DDR4 , etc. This ThinkPad is not flashy looking but it is extremely functional, well built, sturdy, versatile, portable, fast, adaptable and just darn fun to use anywhere. I've owned dozens of laptops over the years since the mid 80's and this is the best all around that I've owned thus far. Well done Lenovo and AMD!

good laptop depending on what you do
a very good laptop with power in its AMD components size with fan noise very quiet except under pressure but will preform good under all situations thought gaming should be done under the AC charger but other then that the battery will last about 6 hours on me

Hits nearly all the right notes
I got the x395 with the R5 3500U, 8gb dual channel, 512 gb NVME, 1080p IPS 300 nits (LP133), backlit laptop. I love it, and it is perfect in nearly every way. Very zippy and functional, takes care of home and work documentation. Thermals are great. Light and mobile. Love the USB-C charging. Only downside is I wish the battery was larger capacity and would last a bit longer, but very happy overall with the build quality and components.

User-friendly, dull display
I’ve had this laptop for a few weeks now, and I’m happy with my purchase! I’m a business student so I appreciated its sleek appearance as well as its processing capabilities. Not too heavy and has a great battery life. Only complaint I have would be that the display is rather dull. Still a great choice for the price!

Computer perfect for my need
I bought a Lenovo because of the reliability of the one I use at work. It super powerful and quick and this one has been nothing short of the same. I love that I was able to build my own personalized laptop through the website so I could choose a slightly older model to save some cost but still make it super fast and reliable for today and going forward. It's important to me to run my small personal business and run software that takes up space quick and not have any hiccups or slow downs along the way and even a few days in my productivity is fantastic. I had my ideal computer built the way I needed it.

Excellent Device.
Excellent device. Thinkpads perform well as usual, this is no different. Slim and well designed. There are lot of fingerprints while using, but small issue for me. I have less ram, but for the price I payed it is still very functional. Great deal from Lenovo. I would suggest users consider more ram options, as it cannot be modified, or consider software settings.

Almost Perfect! ThinkPad X395
The ThinkPad X395 is absolutely great! I wanted a smaller laptop that is still functional and this fits the bill. The keyboard feels great, the battery lasts a long time, and the optional fingerprint scanner is perfect. However, one thing that I wish could be a bit better is the screen image quality. It isn't super crisp and hard to view at an angle. Also, the non-lit key caps are almost impossible to see in the dark. Other than those two issues, I would highly recommend this model.

I would not recommend it as a top computer
I give this laptop and average rating. 1. The battery life stinks. I will maybe get 3-4 hours before having to charge it. My old Asus has better battery life than this! 2. I has no back lights behind the keyboard! I thought that was pretty much standard now! Very frustrating trying to see the keys. 3. i don like the click pads being that the top of the mouse pad. At the bottom is much better. Again, another negative

Great power in a small package.
I was looking for a laptop in a 13.3" foot print with a better integrated graphics card. The Vega 8 performs far better than the outgoing Intel laptop I had. Great job Lenovo. Pricing was also competitive with offered features.

Lenovo quality is still the best!
I've never had a problem with a Lenovo product working improperly and I've had 3 of their laptops before. This is a quality addition and the Thinkpad line gives a quality feel. My only thoughts are that I didn't realize AMD dedicated so much system RAM to VRAM, so for an 8gb machine I only have 6gb usable. I'm also not used to the FN key being on the bottom left rather than the Ctrl key, although neither of these things make the product perform any differently. A very good affordable alternative to the ultra-premium X1 lineup!

I hope this isn't just the honeymoon phase...
...because I can get used to booting in seconds, like under 5 seconds. Applications loading when I open them? Is this a dream?
In seriousness, I purchased this laptop because of the security features. As a self-employed bookkeeper working with sensitive client data (PHI/PII), having an encrypted laptop with the additional security features helps me satisfy security requirements without purchasing so many extra applications. I've only had it a couple of weeks, so no complaints. I will say the fingerprint doesn't seem to be the greatest feature as it doesn't always recognize my fingers, but at least it's not too easy to get in, right?
I'm not using this for much else than business, so I can't speak to all the other bells and whistles, but it's fast. If that's your goal, to have a bunch of browser windows open, multiple docs, and toggling between screens? I think you may have found your laptop.
It's small, but I have it docked and use a monitor. It's super lightweight, and the keyboard is comfortable to type on.

The price is much cheaper than its other brand counterparts for the same specs. However, the camera failed just after purchased but lenovo onsite replaced it in a week. I purchased this for programming and had not disappointed, I can run virtual machines while multitasking smoothly and able to play some light games very well.

New Laptop for School
Absolutely love this laptop. It is so fast and so light. I was uncertain initially of the size of it and if it would be what I wanted. It turned out to be better than what I expected! Blew my expectations out of the water. The only thing I would change if I could would be more than 2 USB ports, but it isn't a deal breaker by any means!

So far so good. Love the smaller size. Wish they made the full-functioning ones like this in the 11-12" size because I need it to travel but still need the maximum amount of usb ports and I don't need the usb c ports. Shipping was fast. The Lenovo site was a little overwhelming with all the options, took days/weeks to figure out which laptop to purchase.
