The NETGEAR Nighthawk AX8/8-Stream AX6000 WiFi Router (RAX80) has a 64-bit 1.8GHz quad-core processor designed to transfer multi-gigs of data with almost zero CPU load. 160MHz channel support doubles the speeds as offered by 80MHz channels to provide Gigabit speeds to compatible devices. This router is industry’s first home router with Multi-Gig internet support, achieved by aggregating two Gigabit Ethernet ports. It’s a router ready for the upcoming multi-Gig Internet wave in DOCSIS 3.1. Four high-performance hidden antennas amplify WiFi signals for maximized range and coverage.

I have a smart home and to many devices for the linksys the latency had gotten unbearable. Nighthawk handles all 40 of my wifi devices flawlessly.

Somehow this thing can get through walls and provide stronger signal than my mesh network. I wish it was tri band and featured mesh support. The only drawback so far is my cameras disconnect from this router and wont automatically reconnect whereas they do reconnect easily to my other routers

I took forever for tech support to help (which they did not helped, horrible tech support), I had to go to social media to get Netgear's attention (which I did). The router got replaced, everything was working "OK" but the range of WiFi was not as expected (WiFi range is ridicously smaller than my old R7000). At 94 days after purchased, once we no longer have the tech support, it started to act the same way, dropping clients wirelessly, buffering like crazy, WiFi disconnect-connect-disconnet-etc-etc. Currently, the problem is getting worse as the WiFi speed is super super slow, even being close to the router there is no difference on speed. As a huge fan of Netgear this is very disappointing, the hardware, the firmwares, and specially the Tech Support.

The antenna is unusual and the instructions online were vague as to placement (center of room, but do not suggest how best to aim it.

Actually had to login to the router itself via the Net Address and change settings before it would receive internet from the modem. Several default settings limit the capability of the router including IPV6 being off. There should be more directions out of the box, depending on the app to perform the setup for every scenario is not a great idea.

At the time I was using the Amplifi HD which got my 300 mbps. I now own the ASUS AX11000 best router hands down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Far So GoodI recently installed this router to replace my Linksys WRT 3200ACM just because I felt like it. I have realized about 70-100Mbps better speed while wired in. As for the wireless feature I have better signal strength realized throughout my house with the avg being about 2 extra bars of strength out of 5. The capability to wrap the 2.4 and 5.0Ghz channels into a single band is a neat feature especially when you have something like a printer connected on the system. It always seemed like I needed to be on the same band as the printer to get it to work in my previous setup. If you want to give priority you will need to enable the QoS protocol which seems to do the trick on allocating the bandwidth. as of 1/31/2018 I have had this installed for about a week now and it seems to be working very well so far.

I was able to let it auto select 2.4 or 5 for the same network and all my devices can see each other, print, view, stream music. Couldn’t be happier with how easy to use it is. My only wish list item would be more telemetry you ensure that SPI is actively firewall blocking and other firewall information. But otherwise I agree that this is “the Batman” of routers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Insane Range!Bought this new WIFI 6 router in lieu of the new Galaxy S10 coming out and replaced an old wifi 5 router and I have to say I am blown away! Netgear really hit the ball out and far away from the park with this one! I use the EX8000 Range extender to reach the back rooms and it out powered my old router even, now it carries a link rate of 1733mbps easily through the first floor of concrete walls. I would definitely recommend the RAX80 to anyone looking to blaze passed old standards of wifi 5 and future proof their home!

From day one, we have been more than satisfied with ease of set up, great performance, great speeds and the convenience of the Netgear Nighthawk Mobile App. We replaced an older router that had to be constantly reset and could not handle the larger network activity of numerous devices in the office. Switching to this product was definitely a night and day difference.

We can have multiple devices connected and stream 4k at the same time with no lag. Definitely recommend the Netgear Knighthawk to anyone with multiple devices who wants to stream in 4k and play there gaming console with no interruptions.

It delayed my wifi connecting to the internet even though the router was connected and showed internet was available. So far it is fast and stable with great coverage on my house and 3 acres of property.

It can run 6 devices very easily, PS4, 3 Firesticks, 2 iPads, no game lag or movie lag. I would recommend you have 250 mbps or more to have this run smoothly. Customer service was easy to work with. I know this device is a little expensive but it has a lot of power!!

Only problem I’ve had is slow WiFi in a some rooms but this is due to the fireplace and fridge/freezer being in the way which affects all routers. Ordered a netgear mesh to place in a position that’ll negate this!

Had to constantly re-connect and reboot the last router on a daily basis. AX8 solved all these issues. I am looking forward to new firmware updates which should only improve the speed. Coverage is fantastic in a 3K sq ft house, all corners. Although I did end-up pairing this with the new Netgear mesh extender...just in case.

However, this device requires a bridge to the old modem if you also have FiOS cable TV service. With that being done, it has essentially chopped my 1000 Mbps into 200 Mbps. Not the fault of the router, just wanted to let all of the FiOS customers out there, what to expect. Might be time to ditch the TV service.

It took about 30 minutes to set up with very few surprises. Because my house is a split level design I have some Orbi range extenders throughout the house. We were able to integrate them into the system with very little problem. So far everything is working fine. I also like the si-fi look to the design.

It would be 5 Stars if it was compatible with the Circle app. I assumed the whole Nighthawk line had Circle but it is only with select models.

Setup was extremely easy in the same format as the 7000, and I was prompted to do a firmware update at the start. Everything on the network showed up and connected well and initial web speeds appeared faster than the 7000. No issues thus far after 10 days, and am happy with the upgrade.

It allows me to give access to guests to cast to certain devices such as my smart tv, VPN with openvpn, port forwarding, and mac address filtering. The best part though is that I'm actually seeing speeds of 800+ Mbps on both wired and wireless on my gig ethernet where my older mesh router only allowed me about 300-400 Mbps per device. The router also covers my 1200 sq ft space just fine so my mesh devices were overkill anyways. It's a little spendy for a router but it's worth every dollar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best router I hadI bought it in pair with netgear modem (CM600, because my previous equipment was 2 in 1 modem/router which didn't provide me with even 40% of my normal internet speed. I decided to go with the high end router which supports the newest standards and I'm more than happy that I did this. I would definitely recommend this to everyone. Thanks to all the technologies it has inside I have more than double mbps stable connection while my IPS gives me only 2 digits speed on contract. 13 devices on WiFi and 3 on Ethernet so far. That is awesome :) thank you netgear!

When I connect my computer to the LAN port even there I’m getting only about 300-400 mbps. When I run a speed test on the router it shows 900mbps. Will be returning it.

Think it is the printer, but not sure. Other than no issues so far. I gave it 4 stars because I have only been using it a few days. My cutoff for 5 stars is 6 months. That gives me time to workout all the bugs.

No lag or lose in connectivity through the entire house. Before buying I asked around for quick fix or router my friends recommended and nighthawk was definitely the most popular answer. I like the fact that I can identify my devices for futures reference an it’s easy to tell if someone else got connected somehow. The app has had some minor issues connecting to the router at times but overall it’s pretty good.

Did go from DSL Verizon 1.1 Mbps to Comcast blast 300 Mbps. I kept the old router just to see how it would perform and it did okay. When I switched, my Netgear WiFi adapters maxed out to the speed limit and my downloads increased. I also have extenders in my house due to it being a three story house.

These smaller routers just aren’t enough to give you what you need and without a Router your wasting your money. It covers our smart home devices, 2 servers, Google devices, and has allowed me to watch hi-def videos on my 3 devices at the same time without issue. Because of how it handles traffic, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who lives in a decently large home with multiple high data using devices.

However using the Nighthawk app I was quickly able to get my RAX 80 router up and running in like 10 minutes maximum. Everything configured (even guest WiFi) and running smoothly.

I have 10+ devices connected at all times and haven't experienced any dropouts. Range is decent. There is an option to automatically detect 5ghz or 2.4ghz so if you move out of the 5ghz range it will autoconnect to the 2.4ghz wifi seamlessly. Nice if you don't have any extenders.

We use our wireless LAN for smart device control, multimedia, smartphone, security, printers as well as regular computer traffic all over our 3,200 sq. ft. home. This was a problem before, but not anymore. The Nighthawk RAX80 supports these networking demands and has the power to provide robust full-house coverage, too. Glad I installed one.

I used to work for the second largest cable company for that entire time as well, and this is way better than what they offer in terms of wireless service. I always recommended customers buy their own router instead of leasing one from the cable company. The user interface for the GUI is very easy to use as always. The Nighthawk also makes remotely accessing your router outside of your network very easy. Easy one of the best dual band routers I've used in the past 3 years, much better than the X10 with almost equivalent range. My house is 1800 sq feet and my router is centrally located and coverage is great. 5/5 would definitely recommend for medium to large size homes, as well as two story houses pending it is central to the house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Out of this world performanceWith over 20 devices connected throughout the home, we upgraded from a Linksys E8350 to this Netgear AX8 and boosted our performance from receiving maximum of 85MB per second download on the old system to now receiving a blistering 1GB wired download and nearly 250MB wireless. No more waiting on pages to load, or streaming videos buffering, or gaps in signal coverage around the home. This was truly a fantastic upgrade that will last and worth every penny.

My old one was a Netgear Nighthawk R7800 and worked well but having to many devices connected slowed down the speed. This router is fast and has great range. A definite recommend for anyone who streams a lot from multiple devices.

So, at the behest of my cable Internet providers service man and a recommendation from him for this unit that he called “Kylo Ren’s Ship” I Purchased this wireless router and it has performed flawlessly for the first week so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great RouterVery good router, handles plenty of devices no problem! Has very good coverage, even in a 2 story house for the most part 5G is still pretty strong! A little on the expensive side, but I got mine on sale at Bestbuy. Would recommend to a friend.

Once configured, the router speed is blazingly fast. The auto select wifi feature makes connecting wifi sensors and switches easier because you don't have to know whether your device requires 2.4g or 5g, the router figures that out for you. All in all, it is a good value for the money.

Am not so savvy but i can defend myself...lol. I also was having some issues while streaming my own media server. While doing some research i concluded that this router was going to be more than enough for me. Also got it for future proofing. So far i can say this is the best router i have ever own. I can download, gaming, stream at the same time and no lagging. It was very easy to set up and the app works fine. It would of been nice to do advance setting on the app. but other than that great wireless router.
