Instead it allows you to place all under the same name and let the router choose the best signal for your devices. I would recommend this router to anybody.

The Nighthawk X6S AC4000 Tri-Band WiFi Router is pushing down over 116mbps on each of the 5G bands and over 60mbps on the 2G band. All our smart devices are loving the new speeds and no more “Loading...” in the middle of a streaming movie.

By slow I mean 3-5 mbps.. and gaming is elder scrolls online or Call of duty . Streaming is 4k content to multiple tv's. Buffering time Is slow tho. Only videos are slow at times .The router is also on 3rd floor reaching all levels perfectly. Amazing product.

So far this R8000P is giving me INSANELY great WIFI speeds inside the house in any of the rooms. While my internet is only a 300 Mbps line, I can get well over 300 Mbps on wifi finally over the R6200.

This Netgear AC4000 has enough throughput to let me game online while my youngest watches YouTube, my oldest streams Netflix and my wife streams Hulu. All at high def.Moreover, it literally took me 10 minutes to set up, it's very very easy.I'd recommend this router to anyone.

I previously had an Apple Airport Extreme that was great but my Nighthawk has doubled my download speeds in the furthest corners of my house, even more impressive... these speeds are at my full expected speed that I pay Xfinity for. I pay for 250mbps down and I receive 250mbps down EVERYWHERE.

I have almost 20 devices connected to, and the signal on every device has been great so far. Was also very easy to install. And a little cool feature about it is that you can turn on/off the light on the router.

I would strongly recommend this item to any other big families who all utilize the internet at once in various forms and wish to do so without lag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from what an improvement!i was using the ISP product before i purchased my modem and my NETGEAR Nighthawk AC4000 router. the speed was hardly reaching 90Mbps out of the 200Mbps. when i installed my new hardware the speed changed dramatically and now it is easy to accede the limit. even an expert ISP technician told me that since i am using this AP then all my problems are solved.

The processor is more powerful and faster and the MU-MINO antennas appear to provide a better faster and stronger connection. I am upgrading to 1 GB Internet and this new router will wring out every last byte from my connection.

The app supplies all types of information that is easy to access. I let the routers intellect manage the speed and distribution of available band width. Very impressed with the ease of use and how my WiFi responds throughout the 4K sq ft house and across multiple platforms that include iPhone, iPad, computers and smart TV. I give a high five to Netgear!

We ditched the Linksys and went with the Netgear AC4000. We have a very large spread out one-story home and needed extra coverage. So far things are working great. We are getting the wifi signal and strength we need. The smartphone app makes it easy to manage the router also.

Bit defender, Armor, Extra tech support. Put all faith in netgear but dont get emails for activation and so forth. Payment goes though fine but still get notification that service is running out.

I was amazed at how easy the installation and setup of Nighthawk went. In just minutes I had all of my wired and wireless devices on line. The performance of the Nighthawk outperformed my old comcast unit by at least 10%. I have also been able to eliminate two extenders due to the extra range of the unit. Very happy with this purchase.

Set up required a call to Comcast and Netgear, but was easily set up with minimal tweaking. The WiFi speed and coverage is much better. Pricy, but if you have a bigger coverage area and multiple devices, it is worth it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbelievable speed increaseI have Xfinity gig internet and with my previous nighthawk (AC1750) I was only getting 50mb download and 10mb upload direct connect so something had to change. I moved to a bigger house and saw this router had the range suitable for the new house. I purchased the router and it took all of 10 minutes to setup, download firmware, change WiFi name and password, make a guest WiFi and have it up and running with the nighthawk app. Speed test just on my phone was 875mb download and 52 upload with Xfinity gig internet. Completely satisfied with this router since there is no spotiness in connection with around ~40 devices on this WiFi at a time. Would purchase the upgraded version if the situation ever arises but I highly doubt I’ll need anything new in the foreseeable future.

My internet speed was around 30Mbs but after purchasing this router i got my speeds around 300-400 Mbs. This router covers all parts of much house and the 5gz signal is really strong and hasn't given me any issues. I would highly recommend this router because if your paying for fast speed internet this your best bet at utilizing the bandwidth you pay for.

The challenge is usually they dont have enough signal strength for our home layout nor enough power to compete with all of the other routers in our neighborhood. I've maintained an Open NAT when gaming since I powered this thing on. Stable uptime, hasn't let me down. Range is great, getting a strong signal well past expected distances. Overall one of the nicest routers I have ever owned.

The Nighthawk did all those things. There are a lot of things it can do that I don't even understand. I haven't had the time to really get in to the manual to see all that it can do. Despite that, it was a pretty simple plug and play set up.

And network speed is very fast with three bands capable of working simultaneously controlled by a 1. 8 ghz dual core processor. We can now stream TV programming, download using the PC as well as run our four mobile devices with no network slowness. The Netgear Nighthawk is a total 5 star product.

Using the Netgear Nighthawk app setup was completed on 31 devices in less than an hour. I use the circle app with the network and have set limits for my kids on their assigned electronics and they work better than the paid apps I have used in the past.

I have it set up in the basement but it still has enough range to cover a little over 4000sqft. It has great functionality for gamers and everyday use, including smart home, tvs, laptops and of course mobile devices. I would definitely recommend to buy. Yes it's pricey, but you honestly will not have to upgrade for a while because of the routers capabilities and compatibilities. It was great because I can set up controls for guests and kids in the house via the simple app that can be downloaded to your phone. The set up took my about 5 minutes. All in all, great router! Worth the $$$.

This router has made my life so much easier with three dedicated channels for my house. Gaming, streaming, and Smart devices are now divided nicely into different connections. Had the opportunity to upgrade to the TRI-band and will not look back. I now wish I upgraded earlier. Have my Xbox on its own band it has no drop off when my wife or kids are watching tv or playing games on there iPad. I would highly recommend this product

With 3 kids at home during the Corona lockdown doing school work and a wife working from home the router is able to keep up with the increase in demand. Upstairs and downstairs. Streaming and downloading is smooth and easy. Setup was easy since I upgraded my old nighthawk to a higher version with given circumstances, the app made installation quick and simple. Overall it is a great performing system with kids streaming movies videos games doing online learning and the wife working from home it is pushing everyone’s devices with no problems.

Also, not once has the router dropped the signal like the last one we had. We regularly run 10 devices, (tv, 4 laptops, 3 phones and 2 Directv receivers), and haven't seen any slowdown in speed. I am glad I made this purchase!! I highly recommend this router.

Now Netgear Nighthawk AC4000 enables me to stream all day, with a greatly enlarged coverage area--about 300 feet from Nighthawk's location, through walls and all. This router is not going to extend range to a farther distance but rather just give you a stable connection anywhere within its range. Proper placement is the most important factor when setting this up.

They are not power users like my house where I have two teenagers and two of us work from home. They do have a total of 16 devices connected and do view a lot of streaming media and have a two WiFi IP cameras. With all of these items they are seeing zero connection or performance issues.

Had a little difficulty getting it set up as the app needed to be used to set it up and the firmware needed to be upgraded before it would install but other than that it was very easy to install.

Even my oldest computers and laptops that have only 2.4g connection capability easily max out my ISP's maximum internet speed. I don't know how fast this router will go because with my ISP max speed of 50 mb the wireless connections at 2.4g easily match the max speed of my one computers WIRED speed. Setup and installation was fairly easy as well. Hardest part had to do with my ISP requirements and not the router.

Despite paying for upgraded internet, performance was inconsistent and standard speed at best. Especially if I left the routers side in the living room. My dad gifted me the Netgear Nighthawk Router for Christmas and it has been night and day. Telecommuting is a breeze, video streaming on Netflix and Hulu is instantaneous and quality throughout the whole house has changed tenfold. Highly recommend, especially if you’re trying to work from home with a standard router. It has improved my work day tremendously.

I still get WIFI in my barn 300' from my house where the router is located. It provides three separate networks to choose which I balance among my devices. But when devices loose WIFI connection, I have to shut it off then restart it.

We had been using an older dual band wireless router, which did ok at times, but seemed to struggle as we moved from cable TV to more and more streaming services. A move to a bigger house, required a beefier wireless router, and the Nighthawk fits the bill. Setup was extremely easy, and straightforward. Looking a bit like an Imperial Cargo shipbfrom Star Wars, the Nighthawk's capability extends from the basement (not an ideal location, I know) to the second floor of our house. We have run direct Ethernet connectionscto some of our busier items, though certainly not as a necessity. I am still learning some of the functionality and settings, but very pleased, as usual, with Netgear.

Not only do I get a far range in signal I also get the speeds to go with it. I have at least 8 devices connected to my network and do not experience any lag or have any devices knocked off the network. This was a great investment; definitely worth the amount I paid for this router.I would highly recommend this product for those looking to play online on any gaming console and/or stream 4K UHD videos.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great range even through cementMany of the walls in my house are cement and my old router just couldn't keep a strong enough signal going steady through the house. this new one has been able to keep up for weeks now with online gaming, college work and web browsing (youtube mostly), without any interruptions. download speed is steady and upload speed hardly fluctuates and is due to my own computers transmitter. All in all, very happy with this new upgrade. end note: it keeps up even with 11 friends over and 4 home residents all connected at the same time.

This was a replacement for a router that died so one would think that this would be close to plug and play. After speaking with Netgear, my ISP and Geek Squad, everyone was pointing at everyone else. After 5 hours on the phone, a different tech at the ISP provided a straightforward solution which included doing a reset on the router.

I have a 5,600 sq ft home over 35 devices installed including security cameras, 4 echos and 4 nests. This router has performed flawlessly without any drops. To help it out my network I added two netgear extenders (1st floor). This has performed better than any router I have ever had. It is well worth the $250 pricetag!

Before, I was renting a modem/router combo from my internet provider which struggled constantly. I'm not a huge gamer, but I do stream a lot of content. This might be overkill for my router needs, but I'm super satisfied with its performance thus far. I'm getting better service than I'm actually paying for (around 90 mbps download speeds when I'm paying for 75!). Love it!

This gives me the ability to have multiple machines streaming data/video. We have cut the cable and this router was the perfect choice for the cost while maintaining high quality streaming and supporting gaming. The setup is easy but provides all of the necessary features one could want in a router beyond that. The remote management is also nice if there's a problem when I am traveling and I can remotely administer the network.

Only 4 stars for the annoyance of the nighthawk resetting the LAN IP's to default when the Spectrum router/modem resets for whatever reason. I have to manually reset the default LAN address when this happens. i.e. It resets to 192.168.1.1, which is not the IP LAN that I use in my home network. Thankfully this doesn't happen often and only affects ethernet devices.

The X6S gives you an additional 5Ghz band and will support 55 wireless devices. The X6S router will cover a 3500 sq ft area where my older router would only cover 1800 sq ft. As far as the bios setup it was pretty much the same setup as my older router so it was very simple for me to configure it as my previous router. I am very pleased with this router and I feel confident that anyone needing a router would be happy with this one too.

The kids have friends over on the guest network so that's a few more devices. I can work, my wife can browse, my mother-in-law can stream her shows, and the kids can play their games lag free, all at once. I wanted to upgrade because we are now streaming much more than ever. Movies on multiple TV's at the same time. Computers, phones etc. and I wanted a fast robust router. I stuck with Netgear and went with the Nighthawk because of the Tri Band Mu-Mimo. I downloaded the APP and it made installation of the router a breeze. The QR scan made registering the router simple as well. I changed the routers name and pass key from my phone and all of our devices including multiple Alexa's signed on very easy. I have the Nighthawk on the second floor of my house and I have a Netgear extender in the basement that works through the Nighthawk. The extender works great with it as well. I would buy this product again for sure!!!

This device has prevented slowness on my network and is rated for 3500 sqft so I have perfect coverage. The dashboard is simple to work with as well. I have been able to configure my own DNS, VPN, and port forwarding with ease.

Looking for more powerful router as the 1 that came from my internet service couldn't seem to handle load. Alot of lag on xbox, slow load times and being kicked out of games. The Nighthawk XS6 was a little more than I wanted to spend ($250), but BestBuy salesman suggested it based on my information. We've had it for about 2 weeks and it's awesome. No lagging or no being kicked from games for slow load times. I'm impressed and very happy that I took salesman's advice.

This area seems to be immune to that interference only issue is we have only had it for about a week and have experienced two drops so far which required us to reset the router. My son talked me into upgrading hoping a new router would help. I am not going to say it fixed all the problems as the slower internet can't be fixed but he is able to play his games with less glitches. We can stream our television programs and we were able to do away with an extender needed for my mother in law who lives in a tiny house next door. She can now pick up internet straight from the router. Well worth the money.

Have over 20 connected items and all seem to work perfectly. Will update sliver time if anything changes.

I am able to provide additional firewall behind a electronic device. This is used behind a comcast router with a cisco router as the outer perimeter firewall, I saw no reduction of signal strength... Awesome banding of product
