Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Sidekick to a Great Device!I was fortunate enough to review this device as an Insider. I highly recommend the addition of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 keyboard/cover for those who want to get the most out of the new cutting edge and useful features that Samsung has incorporated into the build of the Galaxy Tab S4. Samsung has done a tremendous job in transforming the Galaxy Tab S4 into a “Laptop Killer” running on Android 8.1 Oreo. With the addition of Samsung DeX, the Tab S4 provides a desktop style environment and improved multitasking with individual windows. I was able to easily have 8 to 10 android apps open at a time with no slowdown of the system and with the ability to move them around, resize them (like Windows), or go full-screen size with just one app. I would previously use my 6th gen “other” tablet more for email, web browsing, and gaming. However, when I needed to conduct other types of activities that involved heavier keyboard use, I found myself switching over to my personal computer or laptop to complete these tasks. I was pleasantly surprised that this was no longer necessary with the Tab S4 and I was able to utilize the keyboard and/or pen to quickly accomplish these tasks. Thank you Samsung for including key Microsoft apps (Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, OneDrive, and Skype) so that I feel that I have a portable office when I have my device with me. The keyboard doubles as a stand and case for the Tab S4 and the tablet clicks into place with the keyboard. While I did find the angle of the tablet at a good angle for most tasks, since you cannot adjust the angle, the angle of the screen is locked in just one position. I hope that in the future, Samsung does change this so that the screen is able to be moved/viewed at various angles. I really liked the tactile feel of the keyboard and felt the spacing on the keyboard was not too close together as with other smaller keyboards that I have used in the past. One suggestion for Samsung would be to make the keys back-lit for nighttime typing. For those users who decide against purchasing the keyboard, Samsung does include an on-screen keyboard button which brings up a small version of the native full-screen Android keyboard. It’s helpful if you want to type using your voice, or add emoji’s or stickers. However, you would be doing yourself a favor by adding the keyboard/cover if you do want to take your high end tablet and fully utilize the DeX technology and tools. It makes for a completely different experience similar to a pc laptop that is truly special. #GalaxyTabS4Insiders

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this keyboardI love this book cover keyboard. It makes this a true replacement for a heavy laptop for daily use. My only feedback is the pen holder. My pen always falls out. I have to be super aware at all times on where my pen is! They need to make this pen magnetic or do something to keep it in place on the keyboard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FunctionalI got the keyboard with my new tab S4 and it works really well and is functional. The one annoying thing about it though is that when the tablet is disconnected from the keyboard it turns off the tablet when that may not be what you want to happen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrible design flawsCovers up all 4 speakers with plastic, so everything sounds tinny and staticky. If you plan to use the speakers on the tablet, do not get this keyboard. The Dex? software that the tablet wants to switch over to when you connect the keyboard doesn't work well with many apps and they won't work at more than a cell phone size display. Some features of these apps won't work at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lacks Function Keys (F2, F3, etc)TL;DR: No function keys (F2, F3, etc.) makes this keyboard less useful for work (using Epic, Excel, etc.). However, this is the best case/keyboard solution around, which is why I would recommend it as long as you know the limitations. So this tablet and keyboard combination is ostensibly supposed to be a laptop replacement, but the keyboard lacks the function keys that would allow it to do that. While the keyboard itself is well-built, holding the tablet well, and the keys actually feel good to type on (despite being not full-sized), not having the function keys (F2, F3, F4) makes it so that working in Epic or Excel is impossible.I'm typing this review on the keyboard right now and touch typing works decently, with the exception being the top row is so condensed that I will mistype the symbols above (need too shift my finger reach a litte to the left for each one). In Epic, you can customize hot keys onscreen to simulate key presses, to include the function buttons, so I just do that and it isn't too bad, since poking the screen at the F2 is about where the actual key would have been. No easy solution in Excel. I thought that I would hate the S Pen holder, but it actually works really well and isn't as annoying as I thought it would be.Cons:- Lacks function keys- No backlight- Only one position on the stand- touch typing the number row is hit or miss- No touchpad/pointer controlPros:- Build quality- Compact size- Customize tablet attach/detach actions (mine does not activate Dex)- S Pen holder is actually pretty good

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tablet keyboard packed with all necessary featuresIts been 3 weeks since using the Tab S4. The Keyboard seems good to use, but still lacks some features. The Dex Mode dock slot fits perfectly as needed. Unlike Apple, there are two small grooves other than the smart connector that holds the keypad. The Keypad looks almost as the Windows keypad, but some keys are located at different position. There is a Search button but as of now, hard to understand when to use it. Also, clicking the Keypad icon doesnt always bring up the on-screen keyboard. Also there is a Lang key and unsure what its for. The Keyboard keys has slight clicking noise which I really like as I am used to clicky sounds. Dont like the placement of the S Pen, as the S Pen holder is to the right of the keyboard, and the connector is a bit weak and easy to lose it. I would have liked a Pen holder that is a bit more secure and located at top of keyboard, not on the sides. The keyboard cover has a good grip when holding it, so holds well. When using flash, noticed that there is some extra flash reflection of light from edges of the case. One other missing feature is that when the cover is opened, the screen doesnt automatically show, and user has to tap the Lock/Unlock button and then unlock it. All in all, its a good keyboard, but still needs some kinks to be better. Reviewing as part of an Insider.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Cute and Very Simple to UseThis is a really great Tab S4 Book Cover Keyboard. My only wish would be a track pad like Samsung had for the Galaxy Tab S2. Backlit keyboard would be nice too, but that would cause battery drain. I really must say, I really love the look and feel of this cover. The stroking of the keys feels smooth and spaced just right. You have a Galaxy Tab S4, then it is a MUST HAVE.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Functionality, convenience, and protection. When I first received the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4, I used it by itself because I wanted to get the full experience without any additional accessories and I really enjoyed it. Then I added the Keyboard cover and I went to using it for about 95% of my normal daily tasks. I even went so far as to use it instead of my work notebook during meetings as it was easier to carry, took up less desk space, and was very easy to type on. Three of the best things about the Tab S4 are, 1) The way the tablet magnetically locks into the groove above the keyboard to prevent it from accidently coming out and the stylus. The stylus simplifies and expedites a bunch of tasks, note taking, switching apps, markups, however, having to put the stylus into my bag and then dig it out each time was a little frustrating. 2) The Keyboard Cover’s built in stylus holder is a huge win. It keeps the stylus with the tablet, it is removable if you don’t wish to use it, and has a very noticeable ‘click’ as the stylus locks into it. 3) Added protection against scratches and cracks due to covering the from and the back of the Tab S4. The battery life is also fantastic. I charge it at night, unplug it in the morning, and then do not have to charge it until before bed. I only wish my phone lasted that long. All in all, the keyboard cover has been an amazing addition to an already fantastic product.Once again, I am so happy to be an Insider!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THIS THING NEEDS BACKLIT ASAPEverytime I try to type at night in this thing I have to turn on the lights. That beats the convenience of using a small tablet at night in your bed or desk since it has no backlit keyboard. How hard was it to include this must have feature in this expensive keyboard? Come on Samsung do an updated Book Cover Keyboard with BACKLIT PLEASE!
