SUSE Linux Enterprise Point of Service 10 is the only enterprise-class Linux operating system tailored specifically for the retail industry. It provides a reliable, flexible and open platform for point of service / point of sale terminals, kiosks, self- service systems and reverse- vending systems.

The Administration Server is the central administration point for SUSE Linux Enterprise Point of Service. It is usually located in the main office and is used to manage the Point of Service infrastructure, to host the LDAP database and to create images to send to the Branch Servers. Whereas the LDAP server running on the Administration Server stores the configuration of the Point of Service clients, the configuration of Point of Service terminals and which images to deploy to the Point of Service terminal needs to be accepted in a YaST module.
