This DisplayPort to HDMI 2.0 active converter expands the potential of your DP computer or laptop by allowing it to transmit UHD video and audio to a 4K monitor, projector or HDTV. This allows you to continue using your existing HDMI 2.0 display with a DisplayPort 1.2 source device.
The molded DP connector features special latches, which help prevent the DP to HDMI 2.0 adapter from becoming loose or accidentally dislodged from the source device and causing signal loss.
This adapter cable supports HDMI 2.0 bandwidth up to 18 Gbps, allowing you to enjoy 4K video on a large HDMI monitor or digital sign. It supports video resolutions up to 3840 x 2160 (4K x 2K) at 60 Hz and DisplayPort 1.2 audio (if your DP card supports audio pass through). It is backward compatible with all previous HDMI versions.
The plug-and-play DisplayPort to HDMI active converter requires no software, drivers or external power. It's compatible with both Single- and Dual-Mode (DP++) DP output, and recommended for use with graphics cards that do not output DP++ signals. The compact unit fits easily into a briefcase or laptop bag for connecting on the go.
Foil and braid shielding delivers reliable, error-free signal quality and protection from EMI/RFI line noise that can distort or destroy data. Molded connectors with corrosion-resistant gold-plated contacts provide maximum conductivity and minimize data loss. Rated 5 out of 5 byMaher from Does the job!I have a newer computer with only vga and display port connections connected to my older Sharp Aquos tv which only had hdmi and vga. I am not a fan of VGA and this adapter saves me from having to connect my devices as if I were stuck in 1991.

That's what I thought when I pulled this adapter out of the package and inserted it into my laptops display port. It fit! Since I travel a LOT, both business and pleasure, I always need to have a simple, cheap and effective way to use the motel or meeting-room HD LED Display / TV. Usually I am frustrated by the locations network, interface or other iconic hook-up method. And the manager-on-duty never knows how to use their equipment either. About ½ the time I wind up propping my laptop up and everyone huddling around to hear the audio from the Thinkpads tiny speakers. Not anymore! Now I simply carry this adapter and a 20' HDMI cable. About 100% of all TV's and 'display systems' use HDM inputs so I can now watch movies I have on my laptop, play DVD's and even lay back in the motels bed to use the computer. When I am giving a business presentation (like I did yesterday) it was a 1-minute set-up, and worked GREAT. Oh, the quality is fantastic. It seems to be at the max resolution of the display unit (TV). Audio also goes though great. So full volume is a function of the TV/Display system not my puny laptop speakers. (some adapters I bought in the past had issues with the audio) To say I love this tiny, super easy to use adapter is an understatement. If I ever lose it I will buy another immediately, as I plan on never living without one again. Yes, it made my life that much easier. Summary: Small, easy to carry. Needs no external power. Easy to use. Plug interface is universal, fit's all recent (15 years?) TV's and Display systems. High-quality construction and performance. Cost-affordable. Life is good. (This report is being typed about a week after I received the adapter.)
