Rated 5 out of 5 by from Xerox PrinterWe use our phaser on a daily basis and I can truly tell you that it is wonderful. It is fast, prints clear and so easy to use. The toner lasts a very long time and this small machines handles large print jobs in such a great way.I would not trade this printer for any high tech printer, as it does its job and works great in our office.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great workhorseWe have this printer and i believe we average about 10,000 pages per printer per week in one of our areas during the beginning of school and each finals week. There are a total of 6 printers and the never go down. So glad we switched from you know who to Xerox in our lab.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent laser printerAlthough configuration is not as easy as it seems, this is a high quality fast printer. Very convenient and easy to use. I specially like the duplex feature that eases production and saves time. The Xerox admirable customer service tops the excellent product.Consumables are fairly priced and replaced easily. With such a great product and customers service, Xerox will keep the lead over its competitors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good printerWe use two 5550 printers in a heavy graphics environment. The are fast, clear and generate less heat than their predecessors. We proof pages and graphics constantly and appreciate the value. We are replacing other printers in our organization with Xerox Phasers They are more sturdy than the ones we used to use. Very nice product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great PrinterThis is a great printer - we use this mainly for printing large documents. The quality is much better than my previous HP printer. I would definitely recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from no maintenance - efficient, clean printsI use this printer for self-publishing my music - virtually unlimited range of paper sizes below tabloid makes for a very versatile printer especially well-suited to jobs requiring non-standard paper. High-volume jobs are processed cleanly and efficiently.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Trouble free but has limitsWorst aspect of this printer is you are unable to control duplex image backup. The software/firmware is not good but it is PS, fast, 11x17, 1200dpi and cheap to run.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Printer works well / Duplexer is low quality / Drum change too frequentlyWe have had this printer for about a year and 1/2 and have really liked the print quality and speed of the printer. We bought this printer for three main reasons: it prints 1200x1200 dpi print quality, it supports 11x17" paper and it does automatic duplexing.Almost every print we put through the printer is duplexed at a little under 11x17" size. The printer has done very well with the first two main reasons we bought it, but we have been disappointed with the duplexer. In the 1 1/2 years that we've had the printer, we've had to have the duplexer replaced twice (roughly replaced once every 6 months). We did get the extended warranty with the printer, so we haven't had to pay for the duplexer replacement, but we are not looking forward to the time that we have to replace the duplexer at our cost. One other thing that I haven't been happy with is that when the drum reaches its print limit (60,000 pages), it will stop printing until you replace it. It would be nice that it would give a warning that it's over the recommended limit but still let you use it.I have said that I would recommend this product to others, but only after giving them the information regarding our issues. If they don't depend on Duplex and don't have a large volume throughput, this printer is definitely a good one for them if the price is right.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast printer, The printer can get my prints out before i get to the printerThis printer has made a dramatic different, in work flow, reliability and speed. Phaser 5550 is easy to use and easy to set up. We have just over 100 computers all setup to print to the Phaser. It is our work horse for BW printing. You could not pay me to get rid of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Phaser 5550 is a workhorseI've owned my Phaser 5550 for about 2 years now, and it's been hassle-free and and an amazing workhorse. I use both 8.5" x 11" and 11' x 17" paper, and I never have to tell the printer which size to print. It knows automatically through my page set up in my various programs.Print quality & resolution is outstanding also. I highly recommend this printer to anyone needing b&w output.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the staplingWe purchased this printer for several needs, one of which is stapling. With the finisher, it staples wonderfully and eliminated our need to hand staple. Printing is efficient and, of course, double sided printing saves paper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product is one of the best we have had here at Crowe. We are very pleased with it.We are very pleased with our Xerox 5550 copier. It has the capability to do multiple things at once. You can add good bond paper and letterhead in the paper trays. We always get excellent quality when printing final reports for our clients.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from System has Major Driver problemsThis printer has major problems with it's 64 and 32 bit drivers. Works best with Windows XP but if you go to anything newer forget about printing to extra trays or an envelope tray. If you have a mixed network you may as well forget about printing to network programs which are set to print to set trays.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable workhorseVery fast, reliable. Did 70.000 prints in one month with just one toner. Paper jams are very rare. Excellent price per print ratio.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Phaser 5550 died within one year and Xerox won't do anything about itWe purchased a Xerox Phaser 5550 and just after a year it stopped working. We paid hundreds of dollars to a Xerox certfied technician to repair it and ultimately was told by Xerox that it was not repairable and basically trash. We had not even changed the toner cartridge in this printer yet as it had very little prints on it when it died. I am extremely dissatisfied with how Xerox handled our concerns and complaints and will NEVER purchase a Xerox printer again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great printer for high volume, but make sure and buy quality suppliesDuplexing works well on this machine, but only if you use a high quality paper. You can't get away with the 20 lb copy paper, especially not if it's recycled. On my machine the duplexer tends to jam after two or three pages. This machine does a great job on cardstock, and can easily accept a higher weight sheet through the multi-purpose tray.Use the real Xerox toner cartridges, or you won't get adhesion on letterhead, bond, or cardstock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple, Fast and efficient....I purchased this machine strictly for spec booklets we produce for our clients and have found many more daily uses for the unit as well. Very efficient with toner consumption and quiet enough to be placed on the demo floor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We print a lot of reportsThe XEROX printers we have are fine, just seems like we have to call in for service several times a year. We print a lot of reports and parts wear out fast

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than what we hadThis printer replaced a Xante Accelawriter 4G. As good or better for less money. Xerox service also a plus, as are the multiple trays.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good printer, but needs hardened electronics and more durable duplexer. We have had this printer for almost 2 years now and have enjoyed most of it. Quick prints, duplex and the extra trays are wonderful.Over that time, however, we've had to replace the duplexer unit twice and replace the RAM at least 3 times because of "RAM Error" message on the screen. This happens periodically when the power blips out. Our printer rep said that it is best to have these units plugged directly into the wall and not into a battery backup because of the draw of power from the fuser heating up. I'm contemplating having to spend a good chunk on a big enough battery backup for this printer so we don't keep having to replace the RAM.I'd give this printer a 4.5 star rating if it didn't have these issues.
