Rated 5 out of 5 by from rock solidI use this in a camping trailer for lighting inside my server cabinet, and lighting outside. I ran a 14awg extension cord from the unit to a 3 outlet outdoor tap, then to the outside lighting, and all the lights are LED. It runs like a pro. I then have a 6ft USB extension cord to the USB outlet, then my cell phone plugged into that and I can keep my cell phone charged as well. This was a pretty good investment in my opinion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works well - if you don't count the softwareI have the 650 to keep power up to my cable modem, desktop PC, and wireless system. When the power fails for a second or so during a storm, everything stays up as though nothing happened. Good. That part works. But if you want to use the PowerChute Personal Edition (PCPE) software to get information about failures, too bad. While PCPE is able to monitor current status, set options, and such, it is completely unaware of power failures.I spend a few hours "chatting" with tech support trying to get them to understand what I was experiencing. They eventually sent me a replacement unit; that was a complete waste of time. The new unit works fine, just like the original one. But I can pull the power cord from the wall, wait 10 seconds, plug it back in and the software reports that nothing happened. ("Current Status" / "Last transfer to battery was caused by: None Recorded". "Performance There are no events to report at this time.")If you use the built-in "Contact APC" function to report a problem, either it never sends a report, or the report is ignored. I reported this problem every day for two weeks and never received a reply. So, if you are OK with this software, this system will in fact switch to battery and keep your system running through blackouts and over power dropouts. If you want to ask questions about line performance and how long blackouts lasted, this is not for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Step UpI've always kept a surge protector on my home PC, usually a cheapo consumer grade piece. Upon opening the APC UPS 650 I was amazed at the difference in build quality. This thing is quality made and built to last. As luck would have it, spring storms caused an outage the weekend after I installed the unit. It performed flawlessly and prevented a hard reboot of my media server. I couldn't be more pleased with this unit and will continue to recommend APC products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ProductI use this unit to back up my son-in-law's Ethernet Switch and Wi-Fi Access Point. It also helps to back up his MacBook Pro. It is extremely useful to have a product like this to keep our home network infrastructure working in the event of a utility power failure. With our battery-operated devices like laptops, tablets and smart phones, we can continue to access the Internet, even though we need flashlights and candles to see. I currently have four different APC UPS devices in our home, and would never be without them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good value - works wellThe 650VA, AKA the BN650M1, is a compact and attractive uninterruptible power block that does what it is supposed to. According to specs, it can power 80 watts of equipment for around 1/2 hour. It contains plenty of outlets, including two that are surge protected but do not use the battery - good for monitors or printers that need protection from surges but do not need to drain your battery when there is an outage. A USB charging port is a convenience, though one I will not use since unit is not positioned in a convenient location in my setup. I am using this one to protect a Tivo and DVR in my entertainment setup to avoid losing a recording when there is a power disruption. I already have a BE600M1 to protect my PC and router in office area. Battery is user-replaceable and this should be expected in around 5 years or so.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very SatisfiedI purchased this product so that I can have peace of mind playing my PlayStation during heavy rain or snow, when power outages may occur. The last time that happened, my PS4 was fried beyond repair, and I had to buy a whole new one. I hope this product prevents that from ever happening again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for my home officeI use this battery backup on my home office. Living in Florida, I experience frequent power issues and outages and it keeps my computer, monitors, and keyboard up for at least an hour during an outage. Always works!
