Raised floor systems (access floors) are used in many data centers to deliver cold air and cables to equipment cabinets. Unfortunately, cable access holes in the access floor can cause as much as 50% of the cold air under the access floor to bypass equipment. Bypass air is expensive because it is air that is air-conditioned, but is not cooling equipment. Block bypass air to improve cooling in access floor environments while reducing operating costs with KoldLok Raised Floor Grommet.

The KoldLok Raised Floor Grommet seals cable openings in access floors with a double-layer brush closure that seals around cables to prevent cold air from escaping through the hole in the floor. Blocking airflow through cable pass through holes in the access floor can have significant impact on cooling effectiveness because more cold air flows to equipment, where it is needed most.

The grommet's brush closure uses filaments made of premium grade Nylon 6, not styrene, ABS or polypropylene. Nylon 6 filaments resist wear and hold their shape better than similar materials allowing you to pass cables through the grommets many times without concern for wear and tear. The treated filaments also dissipate static buildup on cables. High velocity air traveling over cables under the access floor can create static. KoldLok is an integral part of the raised floor's static dissipation system providing 1 GigaOhm of resistance.

KoldLok Raised Floor Grommet is easy to install in the middle or along the edge of floor tiles. Grommets allow large bundles of cables and large power connectors to pass through the opening. A raised edge helps prevent cabinet and equipment casters from running over and dropping through floor openings.
