The camera and battery were old, so I wasn't sure what the problem was. A friend suggested going with a genuine Canon battery, so I went to the canonUSA website. I ordered this with little problem and in a few days it was waiting for me on my doorstep. After a brief heart attack caused by my not taking off the battery cover, I found it was the solution to my problem. Back to shooting now!
