The RocketPort uPCI 32-Port serial expansion card is compatible with all current 3.3 and 5.0 Volt PCI bus architectures. It provides 32 "native" serial ports utilizing a single 32- or 64-bit PCI card slot and an external serial interface module sold separately that supports RS-232 or RS-422 serial communications at speeds up to 230Kbps. Individual serial ports on the same interface module can be configured for either RS-232 or RS-422 serial communication. External interfaces modules with additional surge protection are also available. RocketPort products are designed with larger transmit-and-receive buffers than those of a 16550 UART found in typical PC serial ports and low-end serial cards, enabling them to handle the transmission of large amounts of data reliably and efficiently. They also utilize an on-board 36MHz processor, minimizing host CPU utilization. RocketPort products do not require the assignment of interrupts, simplifying installation and eliminating conflicts with other server cards. Drivers are available for popular operating systems. The product is fully compliant with the RoHS directive 2002/95/EC.
