Know your gear

Broadcast your computer screen to a remote display over your network, with remote USB console control. This VGA over IP extender lets you share a VGA display or projector with the wireless or wired computers on your network. The IP extender makes it easier than ever for users to collaborate and deliver presentations in boardrooms and office meetings, with intuitive controls and effortless screen sharing.

The IP video extender supports resolutions up to 1920x1200 and features two built-in USB ports and 3.5 mm audio set, enabling you to connect remote USB devices and speakers with a microphone to your computer from your display. It's the perfect solution for controlling a computer from wherever the adapter is located.

The IP video extender helps you boost your office productivity, by making it easier for users to collaborate and communicate. The included software lets you connect multiple computers and easily switch between which user is sharing their content with the VGA display, unlike some wireless video systems that are difficult to configure and require users to disconnect and reconnect manually.

You can even use the video-over-IP extender to share information with a remote audience, such as connecting to a remote display over an office LAN, to hold remote meetings while you're in another part of the office.

With this IP video extender, you can turn your VGA television, monitor or projector into an IP display that can connect to any Windows computer on your network. It's perfect for conference rooms and classrooms where different ideas are shared by users who bring their own computers.

With a built-in USB hub, you can use your computer to access two remote USB devices at your remote display, enabling you or your customers to control the computer from the remote location. Remote operation can be used to create interactive digital signage, to engage your customers. Or, if you're using the video-over-IP extender as part of your IT infrastructure, you can use the USB extender to add a remote KVM console that you can use to control your server from a remote location.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well, be sure to update the firmware!I mostly have the older v1 version of this product, but the USB Server portion is the same on both products. Be aware that these ship with an obsolete and unstable firmware version and PC application included. My recommendation is to update the firmware as soon as you get it, and don't use the software that StarTech supplies. Both are *ancient*.The firmware for these can be found if you search for "Elite Silicon Technology Taiwan" (the chipmaker that produces the USB Server components). You need Firmware v068 to fix the stability issues. I used to have to power cycle these boxes all the time, now I haven't had to touch one in over a year. Be sure to download the newer version of the USB Server application too. Grab the DisplayLink driver from Displaylink's website.Once you update the units, these work great. The software is a bit clunky if you have a lot of them since you can't sort by device name, but otherwise it seems to work well. I can show movies on the remote display without issue, and we also run interactive whiteboards and presentations on connected displays and projectors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a remote display, not KVM over IPThink of this as USB to VGA adapter, with option to work over IP. It adds a second monitor to a computer that has the driver installed. It is not a KVM that works over the network.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Was perfect for what I neededI had a situation where we use touchscreens on a production line. This was a perfect solution since we needed to add a second touchscreen 25ft down the line to control the same application . I have only had it two months so I did not want to rate the reliability high. I had some issues having it autostart so I used a free application called start delay which corrected that issue. I would recommend this to anyone that needs an extension to their current PC location.
