The Power Timer protects the OnComm Rocket and Boost unit from power surges, allows the Rocket to operate after the vehicle is turned off, and turns off the Rocket if the battery voltage sags.
The Power Timer provides surge protection for the OnComm Rocket and Boost unit. It also allows the Rocket and Boost to continue operating after the vehicle is turned off, providing an on-going WiFi hotspot around the vehicle without having the vehicle idle and waste fuel. Field staff continue to have wireless connectivity and the OnComm continues to report GPS location, RFID, and Vehicle Diagnostics data for a set time after the vehicle is turned off. The amount of delay time for shutting off the power can be adjusted by the user.
The Power Timer also monitors the vehicle battery voltage level. If the vehicle battery voltage starts to sag, the Power Timer will shut off the power to the OnComm Rocket and Boost to avoid fully discharging the vehicle battery, and possibly damaging the vehicle battery.
The Power Timer allows the OnComm Rocket to maintain a continuous wireless data connection and data reporting even if the vehicle is turned off and back on frequently. There is no loss of GPS position reporting while the Rocket boots up.
