VMTURBO ENT OPE MGR LIC W/SUP 6M is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 39.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from It has reduced our hardware costs by allowing us to purchase only the necessary resources instead of over purchasing out of caution. Valuable Features:The most common features we use are the reports for VM performance and the planning tools. We use the planning tools to right size hardware purchases when replacing old hardware. It takes the guess work out of switching hardware platforms.Improvements to My Organization:It has reduced our hardware costs by allowing us to purchase only the necessary resources instead of over purchasing out of caution.Room for Improvement:The automated resize of VMs requires caution. Make sure you properly configure this feature before it is enabled.Use of Solution:It's been a while. ~5 yearsDeployment Issues:NoStability Issues:NoScalability Issues:NoCustomer Service:Wonderful. They have strong technical support that is very willing to dig into problems.Technical Support:Wonderful. Rated 4 out of 5 by from We have made use of the planning tool to project when in our migration and modernization project we would need to procure new hardware. Valuable Features:We have VM placement in automated mode and currently have all other metrics in Recommend mode. We also have made use of the planning tool to project when in our migration and modernization project we would need to procure new hardware.Improvements to My Organization:It has helped us to show real resource usage in order to justify or deny application owner requests for additional resources and has helped us to right size our VMs to reclaim wasted CPU, memory, and disk space so we can avoid additional hardware procurement.Room for Improvement:I like the detail I get in the old user interface and will miss some of that in the new interface when we perform our planned upgrade soon.Use of Solution:6 months plus an extended 3 month POC to convince our IT leadership of it's usefulness.Deployment Issues:No issues with deployment. It went very smooth.Stability Issues:I've had to reboot the appliance once to regain ldap login abilities.Scalability Issues:We've actually reduced our host footprint by using Turbonomic to right size things as we modernize and migrate.Customer Service:Excellent customer service. We've had help with setting up custom reports and anytime we need to increase our license count it is a quick turnaround.Technical Support:Excellent. Not many technical issues so far, but have been very helpful and knowledgeable. We will use them to get us migrated to 5.9 on CentOS from our current 5.7 on SUSE.Previous Solutions:Just vCenter Server combined with years of experience with VMware to make resource determinations.Initial Setup:Initial setup was very straightforward. OVF download and deployment to live application in less than 30 minutes.Implementation Team:We implemented in-house but had a vendor team in for group training to show us how to better use the tools.ROI:I'm not the finance guy, but being able to shrink our host footprint by 66% while increasing our virtualization would seem to me to be very advantageous.Cost and Licensing Advice:Definitely more cost effective and with nearly the same options as other more expensive solutions. Licensing is per socket so load up on the cores rather than a lot of lower core CPUs.Other Solutions Considered:Yes we did. We evaluated vRealize Automation and while I liked some of the additional features, for what we needed it for in our environment, Turbonomic was the better choice financially.Other Advice:Take advantage of the deployment team to learn the best way to use it to your advantage in your environment.Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It has increased the utilization of our hosts without sacrificing performance. Valuable Features:Automating migrations and implementing storage recommendationsReportingPlanning toolImprovements to My Organization:It has increased the utilization of our hosts without sacrificing performance. We can run more VMs over a longer period of time without needing to purchase additional hardware. The Plan tool is great as you can create a plan and save it for the future. It allows you to configure the plan however you need it to determine what is needed. For example, I use the plan tool for capacity planning through out the year where it used to be a manual process. I now how plans that I can run and within minutes the report will let me know what we need and where.I no longer need to keep a watchful eye on the environment. Turbonomic provides assured performance. Anything that we don't yet have automated, it will make a recommendation to improve the performance of that particular server.Room for Improvement:There is a lot of information and to get a plan or report correct is a little trial and error. Once you get used to the interface and how it works it does get easier.Use of Solution:For about 4 yearsDeployment Issues:None. Its very easy to implement. Deploy the OVA, connect to your environment(s), configure your custom settings particular to your Company and your done.Stability Issues:I've never encountered issues with stability. We did need to increase the memory on the appliance because we have a very large environment.Scalability Issues:NoneCustomer Service:Their customer service is second to none. Any time I've had to contact support, they've answered it immediately and correctly.Technical Support:Excellent!Previous Solutions:At a previous place of employment we used vfoglight which was just a terrible product. Turbonomic doesn't even compare because it doesn't monitor your environment and send alerts. It prevents alerts from ever happening.Initial Setup:Very straightforwardImplementation Team:I implanted it myselfROI:It was within a 12 months of deployment. it would have been sooner had we been able to enable all recommendations.Cost and Licensing Advice:N\AOther Solutions Considered:N\ADisclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from We now have a perfectly balanced load across our clustered hosts. Valuable Features:I'm primarily using Turbo for rightsizing VM's and to prove to application owners that the software vendor's system requirements for reserving huge amounts of resources isn't necessary.Improvements to My Organization:With VMware's DRS aggressiveness turned down and allowing Turbo to manage the load, we now have a perfectly balanced load across our clustered hosts, which could easily be off by as much as 30-40 percent even on the very aggressive settings in VMware before Turbo.Room for Improvement:The reporting module has a very big potential, but really lacks pre-defined reports for all kinds of purposes. I often find that the report I need doesn't exist, even though I know the data for it is available.Use of Solution:1 ½ yearDeployment Issues:No issues, even upgraded to the new CentOS appliance and went through backup and restore of the database without any issues along the way.Stability Issues:NoScalability Issues:It's best used in a clustered environment, and a bit cumbersome to maneuver around in when installed in a single host environment.Customer Service:Excellent!Technical Support:Excellent!I have had several webex sessions to where there techs very professionally addressed some questions or issues i had.ROI:It has saved us from purchasing new hardware in 4 regional offices and had us extend the service instead of buying new servers for two years, (HPe Gen8 and Gen9 servers running on 5th year) so it has easily returned the investment we had in purchasing Turbo.Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Valuable Features:The automation, of course.Improvements to My Organization:This toolkit has some hooks that allows us to up size VM's on the fly based on the user's current utilization.Room for Improvement:Decrease the cost.Use of Solution:3 YearsDeployment Issues:Needed to upsize the DB shortly after deployment. Also configuring for a highly secure environment required a lot of file tweaks in the Linux subsystem.Stability Issues:NoScalability Issues:NoCustomer Service:Excellent - they've always been quick to support any issues, queries we have.Technical Support:Excellent.Previous Solutions:DRS - Built in tool didn't provide adequate migrations and no reporting about overall health.Initial Setup:Complex - highly secured environment. Had to change many of the system configs to make it more secure.Implementation Team:We implemented this ourselvesROI:Not trackedCost and Licensing Advice:NoDisclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

The previous solution was used to monitor both Physical and Virtual environments in one solution. As we became highly virtualized the real-time monitoring and decision became important and Turbonomics had an edge over the previous vendor.Initial Setup:Very straightforward. The only downside was we lost history of prior performance.Implementation Team:In-houseROI:1 yearCost and Licensing Advice:There are several tiers. Implement the basics, build confidence and add more as needed.Other Solutions Considered:Yes.
