NetWorker utilizes a client/server architecture comprised of three distinct functions within a datazone - Client, Storage Nodes, and Server - to provide the capabilities and performance required to protect and manage data on the most complex networks. A datazone is defined as a single NetWorker Server with multiple clients and optional Storage Node(s). Storage Nodes enable load sharing within a datazone in large data centers, across departments, and throughout branch offices. In addition, Storage Nodes allow LAN-free protection of large servers to improve network backup, and recovery performance. Clients can be backed up to any Storage Node(s) or backup server, via a LAN, WAN, or SAN. NetWorker enables administrators to centrally manage and automate backup operations within a datazone, while applying varying storage management policies for individual clients.
