Rated 3 out of 5 by from The reporting is a good feature. Sometimes there is an issue of font size during the deployment. Valuable Features:* Dashboards* KPIs* Scorecards* Analysis* Reporting ( https://www.itcentralstation.com/categories/reporting-tools )Improvements to My Organization:Working as a BI ( https://www.itcentralstation.com/categories/bi-and-performance-management-service-providers ) Consultant, I have to develop different analyses, reports and dashboard documents to analyze the status of different business measures. We are using OBIEE and MicroStrategy ( https://www.itcentralstation.com/products/microstrategy ) for the purpose of enterprise performance management by defining and describing different business perspectives and objectives, Initiatives and results are analyzed on the basis of these defined attributes.Use of Solution:I've been using it for six months to a year.Deployment Issues:Sometimes there is an issue of font size, spacing and other related formatting document issues.Stability Issues:We've experienced no issues with performance. However, the larger amount of number of selectors, filters etc. you have, the longer it will take to display an analysis.Scalability Issues:It's been able to scale for our needs.Customer Service:7/10Technical Support:8/10Previous Solutions:I started with OBIEE, and I am still using it for References.Initial Setup:It was straightforward.Implementation Team:We implemented it in-house.Other Solutions Considered:We're also using MicroStrategy.Other Advice:If you are looking for Purely Performance Management of a whole Enterprise, then you should choose OBIEEE, otherwise choose MicroStrategy.Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Data mash-up provides the ability to look at different data, join them on the fly and look at the key indicators. Valuable Features:The most valuable features are what you can do with it. It's the insight of the data that really gives the management the capability of looking beyond what they probably currently have within the transaction system. Now with 12c, there’s also data mash-up, which gives them the capability to look at different data, join them on the fly and look at the key indicators, which can probably give them insight into the business.Room for Improvement:Performance is a key point, but it's always a give and take with performance: What do you really want to achieve versus what you can really get, and what does that cost? That's the key, I think, from a performance perspective.Use of Solution:I have been using it for 10 years.Stability Issues:It is a stable solution. We have been using it since it was Siebel; since before Oracle acquired Siebel. It has been almost 15-16 years. It's pretty old. Now, with the new release, they're adding on more and more capabilities.Scalability Issues:It's pretty scalable. You can scale it differently; you can scale it horizontally or vertically. With the new upgrades, it's pretty amazing the things that you can do with it.Technical Support:Technical support are very knowledgeable because this product has matured a lot from where it was initially.Initial Setup:With every release, the setup is getting easier and easier. When we started out, it was more complex; now it's getting more and more easy.Other Advice:Based on what I have seen, based on different implementations, it's one of the tools that is pretty reliable in the market, that is pretty stable. As long as it meets your requirements, you should be fine. I don't see any issues with it.When I’m deciding to work with a vendor like Oracle, I think about how much they are willing to collaborate and make their product succeed. It's more about partnership; it's more about reliability, but it's also about dependency. You often get stuck with products you're implementing and the solution might not be available onboard, so you have to go and reach out and get the solution.Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from We use the OBIEE Repository to join multiple physical sources and combine their data into a single business model. Valuable Features:* Ad hoc analysis* Dashboarding* Dimensional modeling (Administration tool)* Security and permissionsFor me as a consultant, these are the most valuable features of the product. By using the Analytics feature, users (and consultants) are able to build both simple and complex reports / graphs. The user is able to add complex calculations and to create almost any column he desires. The Administration tool is the workbench for the implementation consultant; this is where the data warehouse is called, and facts and dimensions are defined and joined. Here we transform data into a business model and make it accessible to the end user. It is possible to join multiple physical sources and combine their data into a single business model. So, if sales are recorded in a sales application and inventory is recorded in a different system, it can be combined right here.Security and permissions are important when, within a company, specific roles are defined that are (not) allowed to certain areas of data. OBIEE provides roles and groups and data shielding by role or even user-level to cope with almost any business requirement at this point.Room for Improvement:Users find it difficult to understand which combinations of facts and dimensions are ‘allowed’ in a single report. The application does not provide feedback up front, but gives an error afterwards. The user interface provides subject areas where the user can choose columns for a report. A column can be either a fact (measure) or a dimension (like company, or date). It is not uncommon to have two measures that cannot be compared by the same dimension. The report will show a blank column, or give an error message saying something like ‘incomparable measures at this level’.Most of the times, this is a design flaw in the underlying dimensional model, but this does not have to be the case. If a user could see the unavailable columns based on their selection - by greying out options that are not available - this would greatly help the user understand the underlying data model and prevent frustration.Use of Solution:I have used it for five years.Stability Issues:I have not encountered any stability issues.Scalability Issues:I have not encountered any scalability issues.Technical Support:Technical support is excellent; there are many companies specialized in delivering technical support for OBIEE.Initial Setup:For the end user, the product runs inside the web browser; technical setup requires a specialist.Cost and Licensing Advice:Contact a reseller (such as Ordina) to negotiate the best price. Oracle list prices are always negotiable.Other Advice:Seriously consider a cloud implementation. Cut back on implementation and maintenance / upgrade costs and very little time-to-market.Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:My company is an Oracle partner.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's easy to manipulate and to create new dashboards. Valuable Features:It's a great tool for the businesses as it's easy to manipulate and to create new dashboards. For the development side, it requires a good datamart to make things easier. It's very robust with a lot of resources.Improvements to My Organization:With a good model implemented, businesses can easily take decisions to improve anything they want.An example I like to give is a retail company for which we developed online BI for sales. With this model, the managers follow the sales in real-time and can make decision like when, how much, and where to start a sales campaign during the day. This helps all managers to fulfill their quotas easily.Room for Improvement:It needs better parent-child dimension options that don't need to pass through OBIEE to build it. It's an easier way to update the model in case of a change of dimension size or sources. Also, it needs better and more dynamic graphics. There are a lot of tools with better graphics and big part of BI is about this.Use of Solution:I've been using it for over 10 years.Deployment Issues:We have had no issues with the deployment.Stability Issues:There were issues mainly because of a Java memory leak.Scalability Issues:The scalability is limited because of WebLogic.Technical Support:The technical support for EPM is bad. I don't remember anytime that the service support help me in something. The problem is bigger when you have a environment with more than one product like Hyperion Planning and ODI. This happens because the products have different owners within Oracle and then different supports and because this if, you open a trouble ticket of loading data to planning and you say the words ODI, you'll be pushed around the two separate support teams indefinitely, even if your company has an Oracle support director just for you.Initial Setup:EPM is an enterprise suit that is made of some independent tools and to have all working together it makes it complex no matter your level of knowledge. The bigger the environment the bigger is the challenge you need to face. Maybe one day Oracle will integrate all their tools. It'll be easier and the good thing is that I saw a lot of improvements over the years.Other Solutions Considered:I'm a consultant and my only evaluation was on the database. I decided on Oracle because of the database and, during my career, their other tools are starting to come naturally.Other Advice:Because Oracle products are development frameworks, your final results are as good as the people who implemented it. Make sure that your implementation team is the best it could be, at least for the first implementation. If something is implemented incorrectly at the start, it'll cost you a lot more to fix than to build a new system from scratch. Sometimes it can be so badly designed that it is impossible to fix.I've been working on implementation for 19 years and I have seen bad implementations everywhere. In fact, I have seen the same tools implemented in the same team by two different people, with one being a success and the other a failure. In the same company, one department says that the tool does not work for them and another says that the tool is the best. The only difference was the implementer. Make sure you get a good team to implement it. The tool has its flaws, but most of time (99%) it is the implementer's fault that you have a bad or slow model.Disclaimer: IT Central Station contacted the reviewer to collect the review and to validate authenticity.
