Rated 4 out of 5 by from We've been able to create reports for monitoring our business trends and retail KPIs, although we've come across deployment issues when moving from one version to another. Valuable Features:* Data accessibility* Easy to create ad hoc reporting ( http://www.itcentralstation.com/categories/reporting-tools ) for different solutions* Excellent tool for defining and creating Executive and Operative DashboardImprovements to My Organization:I’ve used this product especially in the retail field. It’s been a huge initial effort creating reporting for monitoring business trends and retail KPIs, but once we did it we had a great return in terms of data reliability, time response and information sharing between internals and externals.Room for Improvement:Retail, Finance, WholesaleUse of Solution:I've used if for about four years in the fashion industry.Deployment Issues:Yes, especially when we’ve moved from one version to another. Most of the problems encountered have been solved quickly.Stability Issues:No broad impactScalability Issues:NoCustomer Service:8/10Technical Support:8/10Initial Setup:Designing and building the entire set up of Data Warehousing and Dashboard Reporting implementation has been challenging in terms of resources and time. It took at least six months to a year to see the first results of our hard work.Other Solutions Considered:I can make a comparison with Business Objects and MicroStrategy. Even though these are excellent tools for business analysis, Oracle OBIEE has allowed the company to approach data analysis in a structured and shared way favoring the growth of analytical expertise across the entire company.Other Advice:From my experience as Retail Planner and Business Analyst in fast paced companies, I would suggest this solution to anyone who wants to improve data analysis in terms of data read, performance, analytical culture throughout the company.I think it's a great tool for the retail, finance, and commercial industries.ABC Sell Out AnalysisDisclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from With the analytics and inter-process communication functions, we can generate KPI and other analytical reports for the operations team. Valuable Features:* Data Warehouse Application Console* Analytics* Inter Process CommunicationImprovements to My Organization:Several KPI reports and different analytical reports can be generated for the operations team.I have developed datamarts from scratch using OBIEE and ODI as well for a government department in charge of agriculture and food throughout Mexico.Additionally, it was used to generate several KPIs for a nation-wide logistics company who were distributing all the medicines for government-provided social security insurance.Room for Improvement:* DAC* Siebel Analytics* BI ServerUse of Solution:I've used it for four years.Stability Issues:There is an issue with the handling of the cache in the BI server.Scalability Issues:There was an issue upgrading from 10g to 11g.Customer Service:9/10.Technical Support:9/10.Previous Solutions:I haven't used another solution.Initial Setup:It was complex because the installation of the product presented some problems, and there was not much information about it. The issues were with security for the BI server and the middleware.Implementation Team:We did it in-house.Pricing, Setup Cost and Licensing:It is high.Other Solutions Considered:No other options were evaluated.Other Advice:Be well prepared with the product details from installation to implementation. Be sure you have a support account.Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from We've been able to integrate different sources into one dashboard and it's given us better RMDB and browser support. Valuable Features:It's easy to create fully-functional Dashboards.Improvements to My Organization:We have been able to integrate different sources into one dashboard.Room for Improvement:Essbase integration needs to be worked on.Use of Solution:I've used it for around five years.Deployment Issues:No issues with the current version.Stability Issues:When using Essbase, queries accumulated in the BI server and degraded its performance.Scalability Issues:No issues encountered.Customer Service:It's satisfactory.Technical Support:It's satisfactory.Previous Solutions:We previously used Hyperion WebAnalysis, and we needed better RMDB and browser support.Initial Setup:It was straightforward.Implementation Team:We used a mixed team, and when the vendor team implemented it, they had satisfactory skills to do it.ROI:It's ok.Pricing, Setup Cost and Licensing:It´s expensive.Other Solutions Considered:* QlikView* TableauOther Advice:Requires some database tuning and an expertise in OBIEE to perform as expected.Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The reporting is a good feature. Sometimes there is an issue of font size during the deployment. Valuable Features:* Dashboards* KPIs* Scorecards* Analysis* Reporting ( https://www.itcentralstation.com/categories/reporting-tools )Improvements to My Organization:Working as a BI ( https://www.itcentralstation.com/categories/bi-and-performance-management-service-providers ) Consultant, I have to develop different analyses, reports and dashboard documents to analyze the status of different business measures. We are using OBIEE and MicroStrategy ( https://www.itcentralstation.com/products/microstrategy ) for the purpose of enterprise performance management by defining and describing different business perspectives and objectives, Initiatives and results are analyzed on the basis of these defined attributes.Use of Solution:I've been using it for six months to a year.Deployment Issues:Sometimes there is an issue of font size, spacing and other related formatting document issues.Stability Issues:We've experienced no issues with performance. However, the larger amount of number of selectors, filters etc. you have, the longer it will take to display an analysis.Scalability Issues:It's been able to scale for our needs.Customer Service:7/10Technical Support:8/10Previous Solutions:I started with OBIEE, and I am still using it for References.Initial Setup:It was straightforward.Implementation Team:We implemented it in-house.Other Solutions Considered:We're also using MicroStrategy.Other Advice:If you are looking for Purely Performance Management of a whole Enterprise, then you should choose OBIEEE, otherwise choose MicroStrategy.Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Data mash-up provides the ability to look at different data, join them on the fly and look at the key indicators. Valuable Features:The most valuable features are what you can do with it. It's the insight of the data that really gives the management the capability of looking beyond what they probably currently have within the transaction system. Now with 12c, there’s also data mash-up, which gives them the capability to look at different data, join them on the fly and look at the key indicators, which can probably give them insight into the business.Room for Improvement:Performance is a key point, but it's always a give and take with performance: What do you really want to achieve versus what you can really get, and what does that cost? That's the key, I think, from a performance perspective.Use of Solution:I have been using it for 10 years.Stability Issues:It is a stable solution. We have been using it since it was Siebel; since before Oracle acquired Siebel. It has been almost 15-16 years. It's pretty old. Now, with the new release, they're adding on more and more capabilities.Scalability Issues:It's pretty scalable. You can scale it differently; you can scale it horizontally or vertically. With the new upgrades, it's pretty amazing the things that you can do with it.Technical Support:Technical support are very knowledgeable because this product has matured a lot from where it was initially.Initial Setup:With every release, the setup is getting easier and easier. When we started out, it was more complex; now it's getting more and more easy.Other Advice:Based on what I have seen, based on different implementations, it's one of the tools that is pretty reliable in the market, that is pretty stable. As long as it meets your requirements, you should be fine. I don't see any issues with it.When I’m deciding to work with a vendor like Oracle, I think about how much they are willing to collaborate and make their product succeed. It's more about partnership; it's more about reliability, but it's also about dependency. You often get stuck with products you're implementing and the solution might not be available onboard, so you have to go and reach out and get the solution.Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from We use the OBIEE Repository to join multiple physical sources and combine their data into a single business model. Valuable Features:* Ad hoc analysis* Dashboarding* Dimensional modeling (Administration tool)* Security and permissionsFor me as a consultant, these are the most valuable features of the product. By using the Analytics feature, users (and consultants) are able to build both simple and complex reports / graphs. The user is able to add complex calculations and to create almost any column he desires. The Administration tool is the workbench for the implementation consultant; this is where the data warehouse is called, and facts and dimensions are defined and joined. Here we transform data into a business model and make it accessible to the end user. It is possible to join multiple physical sources and combine their data into a single business model. So, if sales are recorded in a sales application and inventory is recorded in a different system, it can be combined right here.Security and permissions are important when, within a company, specific roles are defined that are (not) allowed to certain areas of data. OBIEE provides roles and groups and data shielding by role or even user-level to cope with almost any business requirement at this point.Room for Improvement:Users find it difficult to understand which combinations of facts and dimensions are ‘allowed’ in a single report. The application does not provide feedback up front, but gives an error afterwards. The user interface provides subject areas where the user can choose columns for a report. A column can be either a fact (measure) or a dimension (like company, or date). It is not uncommon to have two measures that cannot be compared by the same dimension. The report will show a blank column, or give an error message saying something like ‘incomparable measures at this level’.Most of the times, this is a design flaw in the underlying dimensional model, but this does not have to be the case. If a user could see the unavailable columns based on their selection - by greying out options that are not available - this would greatly help the user understand the underlying data model and prevent frustration.Use of Solution:I have used it for five years.Stability Issues:I have not encountered any stability issues.Scalability Issues:I have not encountered any scalability issues.Technical Support:Technical support is excellent; there are many companies specialized in delivering technical support for OBIEE.Initial Setup:For the end user, the product runs inside the web browser; technical setup requires a specialist.Cost and Licensing Advice:Contact a reseller (such as Ordina) to negotiate the best price. Oracle list prices are always negotiable.Other Advice:Seriously consider a cloud implementation. Cut back on implementation and maintenance / upgrade costs and very little time-to-market.Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:My company is an Oracle partner.
