The Oracle Enterprise Session Border Controller is specifically designed to address the unique security, interoperability, and reliability challenges businesses often encounter when extending interactive voice, video, and UC across IP networks. The Oracle E-SBC also helps enterprises contain voice transport costs and overcome the unique regulatory compliance challenges associated with IP telephony. Flexible survivability features help maintain communications in remote sites and stateful high availability protects service provider trunk connections. To simplify operations in multi-site networks, all E-SBC models run common software. An embedded GUI features a real-time dashboard that monitors key performance indicators with drag-and-drop, point-and-click simplicity.

Product Reviews
Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 23reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Represents the best of the breed. Very powerful product and should be used to automate more key DBA type tasks. Valuable Features:SQL Tuning Advisor, ADDM, Top Activity, ASM Space Manager, Incident NotificationsImprovements to My Organization:SQL Tuning allows massive performance gains behind the scenes in order to more easily troubleshoot the most complex SQL statements. The use of SQL Profiles and creating SQL Baselines, makes improving SQL performance a less time consuming exercise.Room for Improvement:Patching. It's extremely difficult to determine what requires patching and the process to patch each component is slightly different. In desperate need of a single patch or a simplified process at a minimum. OEM 13c is out and we have it installed. There seems to be some potential bugs associated with implementing third party certificates and the Tuning Advisor so just something to consider before upgrading.Use of Solution:I've used a version of Grid Control/Cloud Control for 8+ yearsDeployment Issues:The only issues I've experienced with deployment have been in attempting to harden the environment to meet customers strict security compliance. OEM could make some significant improvements with future releases if more security was inherently built into the core configuration.Previous Solutions:We used cron jobs and custom scripts for some of the capability. However, many of those scripts are no longer necessary.Initial Setup:The initial setup was not too painful with 12.1.0.3 as there's good documentation on it. Earlier versions presented some challenges and sometimes required opening a SR to cut through some of the confusion.Implementation Team:In-houseCost and Licensing Advice:The initial setup was probably a couple of hours of installation time. Besides applying the quarterly patches which takes 2 - 4 hours (we have two Cloud Control environments) another "cost" is hardware resources on a VM. There are a few bugs with the software which require opening SRs with Oracle Support which contribute to the day-to-day cost. Perhaps 8 hours per month is spent dealing with support, just as a rough guess.Other Solutions Considered:We also have Foglight and AppDynamics in house. Foglight will be going away and from my perspective, it doesn't offer any real value over what Cloud Control can provide. AppDynamics offers some nice capabilities in terms of drill down and identifying bottlenecks. I would say it's better about determining the root cause of a problem especially if the root cause is with the application code. However, if the problem is on the database side, Cloud Control will provide through the Advisors ways of fixing the problem which AppDynamics can not do.Other Advice:The product is very powerful and should be used to automate more key DBA type tasks. Performance tuning bad SQL becomes extremely simplified as long as you leverage the out of box capabilities and you have purchased the Tuning and Diagnostic Pack. Those are a must have to really take advantage of the capabilities.Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions. October 4, 2016

Rated 5 out of 5 by The Database Consolidation Workbench provides a flexible approach for various customer scenarios. Valuable Features:It is a comprehensive, end-to-end solution for managing database consolidation, something that has been missing and difficult to do. The Database Consolidation Workbench provides a risk-free and accurate approach to consolidation by eliminating guess work and human errors. Most of the errors that lead to severe issues in production environments are due to poor sizing of the configuration and so-called “educated guesses”. The Workbench provides a flexible approach for various customer scenarios: every environment is unique and several scenarios are possible.Improvements to My Organization:Database consolidation has been for years a tedious process for many clients. The benefits are enormous. By using the Database Consolidation Workbench, companies achieve the following:* Reduce complexity* Improve efficiency* Lower costs* Better security* Better monitoring* Harmonized backups and easier restore* Better performance* Simplify maintenance* Fewer servers in fewer locations* Harmonized environmentRoom for Improvement:It needs to support the Database versions lower than 10.2.Use of Solution:I have been using the Database Consolidation Workbench since its release with OEM 13c. I am even going to give two keynote speeches over the next month at Oracle conferences in Europe. The subject is of major interest to both business professionals and technical resources.Deployment Issues:We've had no issues with deployment.Stability Issues:We've had no issues with the stability.Scalability Issues:There have been no issues scaling it for our needs.Technical Support:10/10Previous Solutions:We used just spreadsheets and common-sense practices, which were often doomed to fail. The solution provided now by Oracle covers the last missing piece of the complete set-up when consolidating databases. One can think of Database Consolidation Workbench OEM 13c as the “Holy Grail” of Database Consolidation.Initial Setup:The initial setup was more than straightforward. It's easy to set up, configure, and use.Cost and Licensing Advice:It is part of Real Application Testing, so no new investment is necessary for clients who already are already using RAT.Other Solutions Considered:There are no products available that can be compared with Database Consolidation Workbench.Other Advice:This is one of the most important additions to Oracle Enterprise Manager from both the business perspective and DBA point-of-view. Start first with upgrading OEM 11g or 12c to 13c as the Database Consolidation Workbench was introduced first in Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 13c as part of the Real Application Testing option. Run different scenarios within different projects in order to pick the best strategy. Always validate at the end.Disclaimer: IT Central Station contacted the reviewer to collect the review and to validate authenticity. Primary DBAs address the alerts in a timely manner, instead of waiting for it to become an issue.Room for Improvement:Performance tuning tools need improvement.Use of Solution:5 yearsStability Issues:Minimal issues with stability. The system has about 1500 databases currently.Scalability Issues:No, the system is stable with about 1500 databases.Previous Solutions:Software was acquired as part of merger.Implementation Team:Software was acquired via merger, and was already online. Our databases were added to the system.Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions. September 30, 2016
