Being a small business owner,it is crucial for me to have business tools with premium features to save time and money.Ive used regular printers and business type printers in my business for years but have never found one that is cost efficient,saved my business money,and has premium features;until now. The Brother Business Smart Plus Printer,model MFC-J5830DW,is an office staple that deserves positive attention. With so many superb features, this is the printer that will help your business flourish. With excellent print quality,you can expect bright color prints with high resolution. Printing photos is a little different, as I noticed some color blending with black details in images coming out looking more brown. Scanning is very easy and with scanning,there is a nice web connect utility feature allowing you to scan from a mobile device or computer and upload to outside sources such as DropBox. Printing is more cost efficient with this printer than Ive seen with others. The Inkvestment cartridges are long lasting with low overall running costs.You can print multiple pages on a single sheet,which I tested out, and this feature is a definite money saver. Although this printer is very bulky and heavy,it is very easy to assemble. The step by step instructions are included and very easy to follow. One of my favorite features of this printer is USB printing and you can preview your images on the LCD screen before printing. This is a feature I have not seen with other printers. Wireless functionality is outstanding on this product as well. My overall impression of this printer is that if you want a good strong features and economically sound printer for your business, this printer is worth it. I do feel that the quality of print graphics could be improved upon, as well as allowing larger than letter size items to automatically print double sided. I`m conclusion,this printer comes highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, so good!I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. Before receiving this product I was unsure of how I would like the look. Based on the images it didn`t seem to be my style, it seemed basic and like a no-frills printer. I was wrong! I really like the features this printer has and the design fits in well with my office. It seems well built and actually of a higher quality than my last printer.This was very easy to assemble. It took me maybe half an hour to assemble, and that includes installing the drivers onto my computer. The instructions were easy to read and follow. It`s sleek for a printer, and doesn`t take up much space. I like that you can load paper from the top or the front. The front paper tray folds into itself, and the screen folds down making the printer even more compact. I easily connected this printer to my wifi, and really like that there is only the one power cord needed. It`s a big improvement over my last printer that had a few different cords (power/usb) and had to be connected directly to the router. I will need to connect one more usb cord when I hook up the fax portion, but it is mostly stored inside the printer, under the scanner. The printer came with four packages of ink! I don`t foresee running out of ink for quite a while. Also, I really like that there is an ink cover included. You insert it into the area the cartridges go, and it keeps your ink area clear of dust/debris while transporting.So far, I have used this printer for a few different black&white projects, and have also printed a number of invitations in color. It has printed very well, the printing time is very quick, although B&W does print a tad quicker than color. But, the color prints are very vibrant and true to what I see on the screen. The sound while printing is also quiet compared to other printers I have used. There is a quiet mode that will reduce printing noise, but it does increase your printing time by a few seconds. I`d say it`s maybe a 30% reduction in sound. Not useful for me considering how quickly you can print in normal mode. Especially since the sound is quiet anyway. But nice feature nonetheless.I really like the touchscreen, makes it easy to use. The screen stays on while I`m using it and then for maybe 30 seconds after. There is also a sleep mode, I have it set at 5 minutes, which seems fine. One con is I haven`t found a deep sleep mode, which would allow for more control over the energy used. But it`s not a big deal considering most other printers I`ve used have a hard time waking up from the deep sleep cycle.Overall I really like this printer, I haven`t had any complaints in the time I`ve had it. I think it will be very useful for my office needs.

When I first received this printer the box was HEAVY! Fortunately the weight was mainly due to packaging. I was also expecting it to be heavy because of its features but once it`s out of the box it`s actually easy to move around while still offering great sturdiness/durability. It doesn`t take up too much space...it fits perfectly in the bottom shelf of my ladder bookshelf.The setup instructions are easy though the actual setup process took a while to complete. I currently use the wi-fi settings. There are still some setup features beyond the basic print/copy/scan functions I`m working out the kinks on after a week. But then with all the features this machine offers it will take an extended amount of time to get used to it. I don`t often have a need for faxing so I haven`t used this feature as of yet.It prints faster than my home printer and has a top- and back-loading paper feeder as well as a USB port which has proven incredibly helpful for on-the-go document processing. I like the design of the foldout feature for different paper sizes which keeps it from sticking out and getting in the way when you`re not using the machine. The color ink printing quality is touch-and-go unfortunately it occasionally leaves streaks and uneven color. The scan to PC feature didn`t work at first either...it took a while to figure out how to properly set it up with my laptop. However, I frequently scan/print from my phone using the Brother iPrint&Scan app and so far this has worked very smoothly!Overall this printer seems like a good speed, average quality printer for a small home business or small office.

The most challenging aspect was setting up the wireless access both on my phone and through a laptop. The wireless feature is great. The printing speed is good as well as the overall quality. I am very satisfied with this printer. It`s a big improvement over my older printer.

I was able to setup the printer fairly easily using the instructions. The printer worked immediately after installation. I was able to print basic documents. I did have some issues printing from my web browsers, but that was likely due to a problem with the browsers and not with the printer itself. The plastic construction of the printer is acceptable, yet it makes me feel that the printer might be prone to break. The panel used for settings is fairly easy to use. However, I like a more definitive feel when I press the keypad. The quality of the printouts was very good and easy to adjust. I was able to print from both my laptop and android phone. Overall, I was very satisfied by my experiences with the printer. The printer is on par or better than most of the printers I have used in my career as a financial professional.

As a small business owner, I am very pleased with this multi functional machine. It provides high quality printing and the colors are quite vibrant. Initially I was a bit intimidated by the well packed, heavy printer. I was also worried about setup yet setting up was easy especially for those of us who are technically challenged.I do like the 11"x 17" feature and the large scanning platform. My only issue is that it drops connection often when I shut it off.Overall, I`m very satisfied with the quality that Brother has provided with this printer. And I love that it comes with enough ink for 2 years of use.

I participated in a market research study and received this product to evaluate. Our office typically uses HP Printers, this one is comparable. SET UP: It came very well packaged and was pretty much ready out of the box. Set up took 10 minutes, and the step by step process for connecting to a wireless network was simple and straight forward. Several technicians use their phones for paperwork and enjoy being able to print from them.PRINT QUALITY: I am pleased with the print quality, and like that there are multiple quality settings. The color pages are clear and vibrant. The speed is a little slower than my old printer, but tolerable. Two sided printing is misleading, you can print the front page of everything, resort it, put it back in the feeder, then put the copy back in the paper feeder tray.SCANNER: Resolution is ok. It`s nice to be able to scan to a PDF.FAX: Straight forward, works fine.COPIER: Quick and easy, good quality for single sided. Two sided printing is misleading, you can print the front page of the document, resort it, place it back in the feeder, then put the copy back in the paper tray.INK USAGE: Seems to last longer than most, came with a lot of extra.Overall, this is a nice all-in-one that works well in our office. As a graphic designer I constantly use different sizes and weights of papers, and also get through a great deal of ink. I was looking for a printer that could easily handle all these requirements with a minimum of drama. This printer not only offers all these capabilities, but has the added bonus of being able to scan up to 25 pages and send the results to the local computer or cloud-based hosting. As the owner of an elderly laser printer I was excited to see just what this printer could do.Overall it was easy to set up. It was very heavy to maneuver while in the box, but easy to handle once extracted from the box - but beware, the printer is packed in very tightly and it takes patience to pull it out. The handles on the plastic packaging are an ingenious solution to help overcome this! I did read through the quick start instructions before I began and found they were clear and easy to follow. Although the box states the printer is for use in both PC and Mac environments, as a Mac user it seems skewed towards a PC environment - particularly in the apps offered for storing scans - though Google Drive is a good cross platform option. I was able to go online, download the drivers and set up my iMac to print without issue. The recommended setting for the printer was at odds with the Mac defaults, so had to repeat the steps a couple of times until both halves would communicate reliably. Printing is easy, and choosing whether to print in color or black and white is very straight forwards. The printer is clearly designed for an office environment where double sided letter sized paper would be the norm, so changing paper sizes is bit fiddly. For larger formats it means folding the output tray out of the way and resizing the paper tray to fit the new paper size. The output tray is also not designed to hold a quantity of larger sheets, so they curl up quite quickly. (I found it was best to let them drop to the floor.) On the plus side, the printer handled different weights of paper very easily and without scrumpling up the pages. In comparison with my old printer it also prints very quickly!As I am very happy to find the option to print to the edge of the page, I tried printing some larger designs on tabloid paper. I found the colors printed slightly paler than I am used to, but this means it is great for reproducing shades and tones of color, such as watercolor prints. For general office use this slightly paler printing wouldn`t be an issue, but for accurate color representations, it is a negative. The ability to print to the edges of the page is however, absolutely wonderful!I would recommend this printer to anyone with a home office as it will do all the essential tasks very well. I would even recommend it for designers, especially as the ink usage is a lot less than with a laser printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice full featured printerI received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. I have been using the Brother All-in-One printer since I got it about 10 days ago. All the features work really nicely, and with good quality, compared with other printers I have used with my home office. The set up was quite easy and it was working out of the box in about 15 minutes. I like that this package also includes an extra supply of the manufacturer`s original low-cost ink cartridges. My former machine had trouble connecting for the scanning feature but this one works really well with great scans up to 600 dpi resolution. (At high resolution the files can get pretty big but they look like the original art or photo. Early days but so far I can highly recommend this product. I had owned a Brother product many years ago in the "Fax" era and was not thrilled but this model is very competitive with other major brands I have used recently. It does have a pretty big "footprint" to accommodate the larger paper sizes so make sure you have space for this.
