Product Overview

9" (228mm) copper 10Gb/20Gb stacking cable with integrated XPAK connectors on both ends. Used for connecting stacking ports on SB5000 Series switches. Why waste device ports for inter-switch links?

Why waste device ports for inter-switch links?

Stacking is by far the most efficient method for creating multi-switch networks. Stacking port inter-switch links (ISLs) offer up to three times the bandwidth of ISLs created using regular device ports (see line speed numbers below).

Therefore, a single stacking cable can replace 3 fiber optic cables and 6 expensive 8Gb SFPs – as well as saving 6 or more switch ports for servers and storage.

“4Gb” Fibre Channel = 4.25 Gbps
“8Gb” Fibre Channel = 8.5 Gbps

“10Gb” Fibre Channel = 12.75 Gbps
“20Gb” Fibre Channel = 25.5 Gbps

Best of all, 20Gb and 10Gb Fibre Channel use the same cables. If your switch supports a 20Gb stacking port upgrade, there’s no need to touch your infrastructure – just point and click to double the speed of your inter-switch fabric.
