Rated 5 out of 5 byBeginning2h8Samsung from Network drops, system freezes, samsung support is abhorrentlHave had the chromebook for two months. When it works, it is good. That however is not frequent.Recurring problems with wireless network. Drops network connection and requires system power cycle to resume. Only happens with this system. Other devices and phones in same area do not have this problem. Seems to happen most often (but not always) when resuming after it has been asleep (lid closed).System freezes about 4 or 5 times a week. When this happens, no input (mouse, touchpad, touchscreen, keyboard) works. This requires a hard power cycle to fix (hold down on power button for 10-15 seconds).Samsung support is currently absent. I have done everything required to get service and am awaiting any form of a response. The online support system request is seriously bad. Requires lengthy periods of time to fill in useless (and required) information. Much repetition is required. No confirmation is given, leading one to believe that nothing is actually happening.

Rated 5 out of 5 bypetercook from This product is a great design, but doesn't workWhen using as a laptop the device works fine. When used as a tablet the screen will jitter like crazy, apps/screens will open/close at random, and becomes unresponsive. This happens almost every time I use the device in tablet mode. I contacted Samsung support and conducted a power wash, which did not resolve the issue. I really don't want to send the device to Samsung for repair as I've read other reviews that state that action did not resolve the issue either. I would just like my money back (I've only had the device for just over 1 month).

Rated 5 out of 5 byLarmoCT from Easy to use and great features. My Samsung Chromebook Pro is everything that I expected, and wanted it to be. Sturdy construction, very nice touch screen, faster than other Chromebooks I have owned. I have had another Samsung product with the stylus ( pen ), and find them very useful and easy to use. The touch screen and pen, help my productivity greatly.

Rated 5 out of 5 byWilburPro from Good Features but Touchscreen High Failure RateI bought my unit when it was first released, knowing that this model would receive latest functional Chromebook features, such as Android app support. It's worked well until the touchscreen became unresponsive. I found this to be a commonly reported issue. Cost to repair out of warranty is prohibitive and even then, many report repeated failure after repair. Obviously, limited convenience as a tablet as pen is required for input.

Rated 5 out of 5 byratickle from Great Chromebook, Why No Linux Support? The Samsung Chromebook Pro is arguable the best chromebook for the money on the market right now. My wife and I each own one and we truly love them. We only turn on our Windows laptops when we need an application that doesn't yet run on Chromebooks. Many of the missing Chromebooks apps are available as Linux apps, but sadly, the Samsung Chromebook Pro will not as YET run Linux apps. It seems illogical that cheaper less popular Chromebooks DO run Linux apps, but not the Chromebook Pro. Samsung needs to work with Google to expedite the changes needed to bring Linux apps to the Chromebook Pro. Once this happens, I'll change my rating from four to five stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 bySadTraveller from So close yet so farI love my chromebook pro. It's easy to use, lightweight, and gives me access to important docs while I'm traveling. Power being USB-C is also a huge plus as it's easy to come by. This is primarily a working travel computer so I don't use it to play games and occasionally watch videos but otherwise it's spreadsheets, word processing, and PDFs for me. The flexibility of being a tablet and computer as well as having an included stylus is something I love. Overall, it is a great product. However, there is one MAJOR issue and that is the power. While the chromebook itself gets awesome battery life, if you ever let the book fully discharge a battery then the unit completely shuts off. It will no longer take a charge and will not power on. I have followed support's recommendation of refreshing by doing Esc+Refresh+Power but it still has not worked. This is the third time I have sent in the unit for repair and it's starting to become a hassle. The techs at their repair center have had success by removing and putting the battery back but that shouldn't be a solution. Especially when my unit is still under warranty and it would void my warranty to open up the unit. I am extremely dissatisfied with this product because of a single issue and cannot recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 bysnogglethorpe from Slim and light, and very solid, good performancePhysically the CBP is absolutely lovely, one of the best laptops I've ever used, and amazing at this price point. The all-metal construction makes it very stiff and solid, but it's also amazingly light and slim, and is a pleasure just to carry around in your hand. The screen is an absolute delight, bright, contrasty, and very high resolution (you cannot see the pixels), better even than what Apple uses. It doesn't have an automatic brightness adjustment though, so you have to use the brightness keys if e.g. you bring it into sunlight. The performance is pretty good for typical ChromeOS use, you can have lots of tabs open, and everything is very snappy and responsive. Android apps work very well, and those I've used performed well; I've used a few games, and those worked well, but the unit got rather hot while running them, and GPU-heavy games might not fare so well. I also like the keyboard quite a bit, the feel is quite good for a shallow laptop-style keyboard, the only negative is that the backspace and tab keys are kind of narrow. The main downsides are: 1. It only has 4GB of RAM; this is enough for typical ChromeOS use, but more is always better. 2. It doesn't have Crostini support. This is probably only an issue for some people, but I'd like it.

Rated 5 out of 5 byrhino4rams from Elegant and PowerfulThis device is spectacular. I was looking a professional looking device that I could take with me wherever I go to conduct business. Our infrastructure is all virtual, and the chromebook pro provides all the connectivity I need to be productive wherever I am. The price is exceptional for such a beautiful device, far and above better than any windows machine I would get in this price range. The access to android apps is icing on the cake.

Rated 5 out of 5 byjellowonders from It's a good computer for certain peopleThis Chromebook is a really nice machine on the hardware side. The hinge feels so nice to lift and the computer pretty much stays on the table when opening the lid of the laptop. The laptop also has a stylus (which the spring fell out and now I can't get out of my computer) which can be very handy sometimes. The display is absolutely amazing. 2400 x 1600 resolution is much better than any other computer I've ever used. The software side of this computer just isn't matching up with the amazing hardware. The Chrome operating system is lacking simple features that Windows users take for granted. ChromeOS doesn't have a desktop that you can pin icons to, doesn't let you change the screen timeout times or what is shows for the screen saver. This makes the experience just not as good as it would be on a regular Windows computer, however I knew these things going into the purchase so... it's my fault. It does have nice exclusive features to be happy about like linking your Android phone and the Google Assistant built into the computer, which actually really nice to have. People might think that the Google Play Store is a great feature, but really it's not. The apps on the Play Store are no where near optimized for the Chromebook experience, not even the Play Store is optimized for the Chromebook. I don't blame Samsung for not having these features because it's not in their control, but just saying for the people even thinking of buying a Chromebook. This computer would be great for someone who likes Google products and is not someone who loves to use technology. Emails, web browsing, watching videos, and things like that are great to do on this computer, so if you are a person just doing that, it's a great computer for you.p.s. When buying a computer case, check that it fits because this computer has a weird shape.

Rated 5 out of 5 byChromeProProblematic from Good service for a defective unitGreat machine with good features, however, my daughter's experience with this unit has been unacceptable. Detail: I bought this unit for my college bound daughter almost a year ago. Since then, the unit has been in for service 3 times (2 times for touchscreen problems, 1 time for a motherboard problem) and is currently back at the service center with the same problem plus a new problem where the unit randomly acts as if the screen has been closed and re-opened. Samsung has been awesome with each service event but does not have a solution for a machine that has continued to have problems. Each time it has to be sent in for service represents a huge inconvenience for my daughter and forces her to attend college classes without her primary machine. I wish that there was a "Lemon law" that I could call upon for help.

Rated 5 out of 5 byTeacherOfMath from Useful for a Classroom Teacher & Screen was Replaced QuicklyI've had the Chromebook Pro for seven months. In that time, I use it mostly in my classroom during instruction/lecture. I did have one tech issue and the screen needed to be replaced. My tech issue is explained later in this review. Remember that this is a Chromebook so it won't have all the functions and capabilities of a PC or Mac laptop. My Chromebook Pro serves all my classroom tech needs. I love using my Chromebook Pro in my classroom. I am able to display my screen (with a Chromecast and walk around my classroom during instruction. This really helps my students that can get off-task when they don't have constant instructional support and guidance. I often use the tablet mode during instruction and the computer mode during meetings and lesson planning. It's been great! It's also helpful to have a stylus/pen that attaches to the device. I never loose it. I teach at a 1:1 school with Chromebooks so this device was seamlessly integrated in my tech environment. I would highly recommend a case and screen protector, especially if you plan to use it in a classroom. I have not had any issues with the screen protector and the touchscreen capabilities. Also, I got a hard shell case so my computer does not lay flat against itself when I convert to a tablet, but that's okay with me. 4-Stars for Design: I am left-handed, so when I hold my Chromebook as a tablet in my right arm, I have sometimes hit the power-button on the side. Not a big deal. I just hold the device in a way where it's not an issue. Tech Issue/Screen Replaced: In the first few months of using the Chromebook, the touchscreen stopped working when using a finger but the touchscreen worked when using the pen. This happened after the Chromebook fell off a students desk. :( I had a screen protector and case on the device. Thankfully it was under warranty and I was able to send it to be fixed. I sent it on a Saturday and I received it back on Friday. Very fast turnaround! Before sending it to be fixed, I tried multiple things such as Powerwash, re-install Chrome, etc. but nothing worked. If the touchscreen of your Chromebook only works with your pen and not your finger, contact customer service and send your Chromebook to be repaired. I had a great experience with the online chat customer service representative.

Rated 5 out of 5 byThatAlex from Flaw in touchscreen designGoogle "Samsung Chromebook Shaking" and you'll find countless reports of these laptops experiencing phantom touches, window resizing, and on-screen shaking. This is due to a design flaw near the hinges. I absolutely baby my laptop and still ended up with this problem. The bottom section along the face of the screen has a shoddy plastic covering. I suspect underneath this cover there are weak connections. When the laptop is placed into tablet mode, you naturally want to hold the tablet like a notebook along this shoddy plastic covering. I suspect that my thumb presses against this cover and damages the connections underneath.AWFUL DESIGN. I've sent the laptop for repairs under warranty but what's to keep this from happening yet again when I am out of my warranty period? Not to mention, I will now own a "refurbished" laptop. There is no public explanation of exactly what the problem is for me to avoid this in the future. I am beyond livid.Another issue is anyone who is right-handed in tablet mode will have to deal with accidentally turning off the unit as the power button will be on the bottom in tablet mode. A slight brush against your lap, belly, or table and the laptop shuts off.

Rated 5 out of 5 byTLCfanatic from Good but not greatThis Chromebook has all the features to be great. Fast processor (for a Chromebook), 2 in 1, garaged stylus, beautiful screen. The price is even reasonable given the list of features. Some reviews complain about the keyboard but I find it perfectly serviceable, especially for a laptop of this size. I like the small footprint so I am willing to trade off a bit on the keyboard. The track pad works well although the click takes a bit too much pressure and is only available in the bottom 2/3 of the pad which can be annoying.Where the Chromebook Pro really falls short is its use of a much older kernel which means it does not yet have Linux program support through crostini. It really makes no sense because the Plus version uses the newer kernel. If or when the Chromebook Pro gets Linux app support it will be the best Chromebook on the market given its features and price.

Rated 5 out of 5 bymscc from two major hardware failures in a yearI have had this device for just over a year and it has never worked properly. A few months in it had a total failure which required two plus weeks of service to replace the logic board. Now the touchscreen no longer works and the warranty is out. This will sadly be the last piece of Samsung hardware I buy. The quality has really slipped. Samsung should extend the warranties based on time lost during service.

Rated 5 out of 5 byTheSoccerCoach from The only device you will every need!I am a gadget guy. And, up until this review, I would have said I was a devoted Apple customer. I actually sold my last Apple laptop and tablet to buy this Samsung Chromebook Pro, and I could not be happier! I love this machine! Love it!The screen is amazing, as so many have said. And, the whole look and feel of this Chromebook is perfect! I am typing on the keyboard and it is responsive, feels great, love it! It is super fast, the speakers are actually pretty powerful despite what I read in other reviews. I can watch 4K videos on this and the experience is quite enjoyable! The Android apps are working great! A few of my faves aren't compatible yet. But, I am sure they will be soon! I have not been this excited about a device in a long time! And, the 2 in 1 feature of this is just awesome! This machine is super light and feels just so very well made! I highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 byHunterrrr from Beautiful touch screen until it stops workingThroughout my ownership of this device, the touchscreen has had random, highly obstructive phantom touch issues. After about 10 months, the spring that allows you to stow the stylus broke, rendering it highly impractical to use. OH, AND YOU CANNOT ORDER A REPLACEMENT. Additionally, regardless of factory resets or how the stylus is stored, the touch screen will no longer respond to physical touch, only the stylus. I regret this purchase, and do not recommend this device, especially considering how costly it is for something that only runs ChromeOS. Unfortunately, my warranty expired at the end of September, so I am stuck with a faulty unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 byrmichealc from Fast ChromebookI've had it for 2 years, it is very fast, very light and worked perfectly for a little over a year then the touch screen stopped working. From what I can read on the internet this is a common problem. Sadly Samsung has NOT stepped up to fix this common problem. So I sent it to Samsung service. They knew right away what the problem was and what it would cost me. With shipping and repairs it cost about $200. If I could have afforded it, I would have replaced it with another brand and one that has a back lit keyboard. As big as Samsung is, you would think that it is their fault and repaired all of the bad ones.

Rated 5 out of 5 byjbkendrick from Great product but still trying to work out bugs with touchscreenI love this device, and other than adding a backlit screen it is the perfect laptop for me. Love all the things about Chromeos over Windows or MacOS, I have used both for decades, and this device is super (I also have a Chromebox and another Chromebook)Having said that, I have made several contacts to Samsung for support on a lingering issue with the touchscreen. It will suddenly place the circle on the screen (meaning your are touching the screen) without me touching it and start moving around on the screen selecting things by itself. This occurs after using for a while and occurs whether or not in laptop (typing) or tablet mode. Very disconcerting because it is moving so quickly the only way to stop it is hard reset with the power button. As recommended, I have powerwashed and that has not corrected the issue. I'll be doing a full recovery to see if that will fix the issue, but because others are having this same issue, it may be a hardware related issue. I have an Acer R11 with the playstore and it has never done this since I bought it about 7 months ago.

One of my favorite things about this Chromebook is that the hinges allow users to fold back the screen and when in that mode it becomes a tablet! When in tablet mode the keyboard is auto-locked so there aren't any accidental keystrokes. I also love the fact that this chromebook is also a touchscreen. Great tablet!

Rated 5 out of 5 byAdid from Good ChromebookI bought this back in march of 2018, and until now, the only problem I have is that the screen half of the laptop weighs a lot, and the hinges sometimes are a little too loose. Otherwise, best in class screen, good battery life (7 hours with continuous binge watching YouTube at 70% screen brightness. The device can get a little laggy at times (with choppy animations), but this is definitely a Chrome OS problem rather than a hardware problem, as my surface 3 with an intel atom (about half the performance) can run smoother than this with full Windows 10. Updates did fix this a little by little since I got this for what it's worth.
