Product Overview

Coax is expensive. Coax is hard to handle. Coax is bulky. But you have to use coax to transmit closed-circuit television (CCTV) and pan, tilt, zoom (PTZ) signals. Not with the new BLACK BOX Video PTZ Balun.

Eliminating coax cable in favor of unshielded twisted pair (UTP) requires CCTV baluns. But traditional CCTV baluns can't support certain CCTV systems with cameras that can be panned, tilted, or zoomed via remote control. These systems combine video and PTZ signals over a single coax cable, and the traditional baluns cannot handle the complex signals.

That's where the Video PTZ Balun comes in. A pair of these baluns enables you to transmit CCTV video and "up-the-coax" PTZ control signals over a single, flexible UTP cable! The cost savings and convenience offered by Category 3 and Category 5 cable are clearly superior when compared to coax.

The PTZ Balun is ideal for campus and high-rise installations. You can use Category 5 cable to transmit color images up to 2200 feet (670.6 m). Or send black-and-white video up to 2250 feet (762 m)! Picture quality (contrast, resolution, etc.) is maintained even at the maximum distance. You also get steady, reliable images when the system is idle.

Quicker moves, adds, and changes mean less downtime for your surveillance system - and that means greater security. The hook-and-loop fastener mounting strip and included 10" coax lead enable simpler, more versatile installation. And because UTP is neater and more flexible than coax, your system is easier to manage and maintain.

Use a pair of Video PTZ Baluns to integrate CCTV security and surveillance equipment into your structured cabling system. These baluns have been tested with some of the most popular digital coax PTZ control systems for quality assurance. The only thing you have to lose is bulky, expensive coax cable.
