I’ve had a couple issues with it not wanting to wake up from sleep mode and I had to power cycle to get it to work, that’s why 4 stars.

Specifically, I wanted a monochrome printer with the ability to have both legal and letter-size paper interspersed in a job.The output is fast and very good at picking the correct size paper but sometimes there is toner on the paper. The machine is a lot louder than I had anticipated. It's difficult to speak on the phone while a package is printing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not fully compatible with iMac I bought this printer because I was assured that it was compatible with iMac and would automatically tray switch when my documents are both letter and legal size, there's even a video on how to set it up on YouTube so I thought for sure that it would work, but it doesn't. Adobe even has instructions on their website about how to setup the software to try switch using the Mac OS. I spent multiple hours on the phone with both Apple tech support, Brother and Adobe but each company pointed the finger at the other. Apple and Brother both insist that it's an Adobe problem but Adobe claims it's a Brother driver issue. I've spent more hours than I can count researching the community forums of all three company's and discovered that numerous other people are having the same problem with no solutions being offered. I've asked if it's a "behind the scenes" settings issue but tech support gives me the universal answer of no, it should work without needing to make any software adjustments except for the obvious on the printer dialog box". I've tried using the free "Adobe Acrobat", paid for the monthly subscription at $14 month for "Adobe Acrobat DC", tried Apple's "Preview", "Notes" and "Pages" and I even spent $60 on "PDF Expert" hoping that maybe, just maybe it would work - NOPE. I'm extremely frustrated and disappointed with Brother and Adobe for misrepresenting their product. I don't blame Apple because they get the drivers from Brother and have no control over what Brother or Adobe do with their product. I'm using Sierra OS version 10.12.5 and Brother laser printer HL-L6200DW USB wired, the CUPS driver and the Script 3 driver. I've tried the printer as wireless and was told that it needs to be connected to the computer for it to be able to tray switch correctly but it doesn't make a difference. This has become such a serious issue that I ended up purchasing a Windows laptop so that I can perform my job and spend less time "babysitting" the printer. I have many more thoughts and comments but this is probably enough information for Brother to hopefully determine the problem and provide a solution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Toner Cartridge Failed So far the printer is fine but the TN-820 cartridge that came with the printer stopped working after under 800 pages. It is supposed to do 3000? The biggest problem is once the printer says the cartridge is empty (even though it is not) you can not continue using it. I am now without a printer until the new toner arrives.

It keeps up with the work load very well, as it is very fast, and so far has been completely trouble free. The toner capacities are great as well as the ability to add paper trays! Very good printer for the money!

This machine is fast, reliable, and has an upper and lower tray that will hold a full ream of paper (less stopping to reload). If you have a high volume small business, this may be the machine for you.

But this latest printer has been having jams, grabbing 2 pages instead of one which screws up the print job and having issues with burning the toner onto the pages properly. Sometimes a page is totally screwed up because the toner is smudged badly.

HELP

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Poor Customer Service I installed the driver that came with the printer and if I chose collate, it would either only print one set or not print at all. However, the printer and computer would think it printed all the sets. I completely uninstalled the driver and let Windows find and install the driver. Now it does print and collate, however the computer wouldn't see the 2nd paper tray. Talked with customer a couple of times to no avail. At the end of the day, they deemed it was my computer and not their driver or printer. Not 100% sure on how that can be since the printer's page counter showed it had printed everything - even though it didn't.

The ink cartridge that came with it also also has lasted for over 4 reams of paper now. There has not been one paper jam yet. I believe I have had the printer for about one month now.

Took me a bit to get the 2nd paper tray configured correctly, but once done it works perfectly. I print a lot double sided and while that does slow it down it’s still very fast.

The sample cartridge initially had problems, but the company replaced it quickly. Customer service was adequate. Overall it’s a good machine. Time will tell how long it will continue doing great work.

The dual trays for letter & legal size will not work with my mac when I print out loan documents. I had heard about the problem, but liked my Brother 2380 so much that I went ahead & bought it anyway thinking I could figure out how to get it to work with my Mac...I was wrong! Besides that it's a great printer.

We haven't begun our busy season yet when we are printing large quantities in a time critical situation- so I can't speak to speed and reliability yet. In terms of noise, I can only compare this to an old laser printer we have been using for years and this one is a little loud. It is too loud to have sitting in the area where we take client phone calls. The good news is that since it is wireless, it is easy to move to a non-wired location (although it is somewhat less convenient.)

Then replaced it near the end of tax season with the 6200 and was really surprised with the speed and the quality of the print.

The problem I had with it, is that I have an Apple Mac Book and I need to use the dual tray printer to print loan documents that contain a mix of Legal and letter size formats. This function does not work beyond with any print job more than a few pages.

Followed directions and it was sooo simple to set up. Love that it holds 500 pages per tray. Did not like that it did not stop to refill when a tray is empty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Horrible Quality, Toner streaks. I'll give Brother credit for ONE thing, they replaced the toner for us, then the drum, then the machine itself. That being said, the print quality is still bad, there's still streaks of toner on every print for the first 5 pages, this is nowhere near the quality Brother used to be known for. We need to send out invoices to customers, and we can't send out badly printed unprofessional looking invoices. We work in a print shop, if our invoices can't even look nice, what customer will want to trust our digital press quality?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Small Business Printer I print thousands of loan docs weekly, so it's important to have a fast, reliable dual tray printer. This printer fits the description! Set up was easy. The menu screen is simple, but navigating through the menu options is a little more complicated. I use the super high yield print cartridge which prints upwards of 13,000 pages so I'm not constantly worrying about reordering. The only caveat to this printer is that when it says change cartridge, it means it. There is no squeezing out a few hundred sheets. It's done. So make sure you have an extra cartridge on hand at all times. Other than that, I'm completely happy with my choice.

It's a bit tall (16" with the 2 trays) I wish they had more shallow tray options so the total height wouldn't be what it is. The only other thing to point out, and this isn't really a complaint, is that every Brother printer I have ever had has a high power surge at wake up,,, so it has the potential to trigger a jolt alarm on an UPS if you have other things plugged into it as well... but this is just something I have noticed and has never really caused a problem. Other that those two nuances, fantastic duplexing b/w workhorse.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WHAT EVERY SELF EMPLOYED PERSONS NEED! I had a brothers printed and needed to update it. People were telling me that HP was the best, even though I liked my brothers. So, I purchased a HP a couple of months ago and it was very difficult and expensive to run. I ended up going back and purchasing another Brothers with the double tray. I LOVE IT! It was easy to run, it's fast and not as expensive as my HP. Now I have a very expensive HP that I'm not using. I certainly learned my lesson! I'm Sold and so you would be also!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the Job WELL!! Printer is nice and crisp in printing. Setup for standard and legal size paper was a breeze, allowing the document to select which paper drawer to pull from in mixed formats. Speed of printing is great. Printed 200 pages in less than 5 min.

It is very fast and works excellent for the multiple printing jobs I do for Notary Signing jobs. I got the dual tray for letter/legal size printing it is fantastic. The customer service team is super helpful.

So, I gave that one to my husband and I purchased the Brothers with the double trays. I'm very pleased! It was easy to install and saves me a lot of time with the kind of work I do. Having an interface you could log into from the computer the configure the printer would bring it to 5 Stars

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clean and fast printing I am a notary and bought this printer so I could use the dual tray feature. It prints pretty fast except from some programs for an unknown reason. The text is very clean and clear. It’s only jammed on me one time and was easy to fix. The only thing I would complain about is it does not automatically sort paper sizes if you’re using it from an iPad using air print. The whole reason I bought it was so that it would sort automatically. I do large loan packages that have a few hundred pages with different sizes of paper. Other than that I’m happy that I bought it. Also I wish it had a scanner on the automatic paper feeder. You can only print from a device.

I would have given it 5 stars but for some reason the fuser lasts only about 12000 printed pages. I have 2 older HL-L23000 that have over 200000 printed pages and are still with the original factory fuser.

The dual tray is essential in this line of work and makes printing documents with mixed paper sizes a breeze. Setup is quick and painless. I highly recommend this printer!

WRONG. mac has so many updates that Brother does not keep up. I got this mainly for its automatic dual tray- which i can no longer use because they wont provide a print driver for the new mac update. Total waste of money. So disappointing
