Rated 5 out of 5 by from null I've got one of these and it works okay. I was a bit displeased with it's wireless capability, it is not what I expected. You can't control scanner settings over wireless and can't initiate scanning over the wireless connection. The best way to use it is to scan documents and upload them via USB from it's SD card. It does however do a good job of scanning and the image quality if good. it is small and portable so it is good for those on the road. Bottom line - okay device, but overpriced considering it's capabilities.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality scans, but clunky to use. The scan quality is great. The scanner will not scan direct to macOS 10.14. Tried on more than one computer. The DSMobile software downloaded from Brother website for Mac crashed more multiple Mac computers on install. I have to deal with scanning to the SD card and then importing. The only other thing I wish this had was some backlight on the LCD screen. It is really hard to read the LCD in low light without it. I have other Brother products that are exceptional and this is the only one I have had issue with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Horrific Experience I am hating life right now. Brother has me on my knees. I bought a scanner. What a nightmare. DS Scanner is hard to install. As soon as I plugged it inot my computer it started gathering all my photos? I dont want that. Using this for scanning legal docs back to my attorney. Cannot reach help on the weekends. Now ive been on hold for 30 minutes and the one I spoke to could not remember my name. She rudely called me Mam repeatedly in a sarcastic tone. They did a swap but there was not return lable. I just spent 200 money i didnt have for weeks of heart ache and stress. I ended up going to ups to scan the urgent document.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DS Mobile 920DW I bought this to replace an Epson I used to directly scan and attach a receipt in Quicken. This scanner will not do that so instead of a one step operation, it takes 4 steps. Otherwise it is a good and reliable (at this point) receipt scanner.

Even my boyfriend said he wishes he had gotten this instead of the scanner he bought for his home office. I am a seamstress out of my home I store patterns and pictures of completed projects. No issues at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, *terrible* documentation This scanner is easy to use, and the software, once you figure it out, is good for scanning and organizing receipts, which is the only use I make of this scanner. My only complaint is the documentation, which is badly written and wretchedly organized, and almost succeeds in defeating the entire purpose of the enterprise. The telephone support, by contrast, is excellent once you find it. Brother would have to spend much less on phone support if it spent more on getting its documentation written by experts in *documentation*, not technical experts.

I have many photos and the process of scanning them is not difficult with consistent results. Glad that I chose this particular model over all of its competitors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from plug Your scanner was nice and I like the fact it was small and wireless. The only problem I had with it was the plug for recharging came loose and it would not charger. I had two and the same thing happen on both scanners. You need to improve the way it chargers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loose or Broken USB Port - DS920DW This mobile scanner works great, BUT when I pulled out the usb cable the metal around the usb port that snugs the usb cable became lose and now it’s rattling around the usb port. Scanner would have still worked, but I can’t use the usb port to charge my device or connect to the desktop PC.

It has all the good features except for one of the most important feature. If your receipts are crimped or folder. Neat has good rollers that straighten the receipt. But in brother it kind of get stuck.

Duplex also is very handy when scanning documents. CONS: I would have given it 5 stars if you could control the scanning by the wifi wireless interface.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The 920DW is OK Support is bad. I purchased the product to be used with my traveling consulting business. The hardware work ok. I down loaded the BR-Receipt software and purchased the cloud service. However, I was never able to link to the Cloud Service. It kept telling to reset my password. Which I did over 15 times. I also wrote the support desk. I kept getting canned responses to reset my password, I could long onto my account online but when it would never let me access my Cloud site. I did call the support desk. I hung up after 10 to 15 minutes waiting for someone pick up. I did finally get a young lady. However, I received the canned response with a n email link to reset my password again and the standard instructions. I did follow the instructions and reset my password. The connectivity still was not fixed. I canceled my cloud service and am considering returning the DS Mobile 920dw to the Store and getting an other brand. 5 hours of trying to get this product up and running as advertised is not acceptable for a business professional that has accounting can computer training.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Scanner - Poor Software I love this little scanner! I have had no issues scanning multiple formats and document types. Quick and easy! I agree with some other reviewers about the controls are difficult to read but I was able to get used to that. The only issue I have with this product is the included "robust" software. The included PaperPort software is version 12, licensed in 2010. The current version is version 14. I have used PaperPort for years and was never a fan. I was hoping the included "robust" software would be current and a great improvement over their previous versions. I was wrong. I'm not complaining about their product, just complaining that Brother would include such an old version. Must have gotten a great licensing deal from Nuance. Some people may find the Receipt software and Button Manager useful, but I do not. As I said above, I love the scanner, hate the software.

(I run this with a Mac I also have a Brother MFC8910DW BW Laser all-in-one, @ home (which I also am very satisfied with!), my mobile scanner is much handier to use. I had no problems installing the software, and using the software is very simple, once you learn... KUDOS!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just ok. The scanner works fine enough and I like that it can scan a 2 sided documents. One issue is that if you want to scan to your PC a 2 sided document saves as 2 separate files which is annoying. You can get around this by scanning to the SD though. My other complaint is that you can only scan a one page document. If you have a document that is multiple pages each page is a separate file, their is no way to combine them. Many of my files are multiple pages so in that case this scanner is not usable and I have to use our main office scanner. This desktop scanner was purchased to avoid that back in forth between my desk and office scanner since we recently switched our files from paper to electronic.

I was waiting for a day I had half an afternoon to call Brother support, so you could walk me through it but then I moved into a new house and now have to assemble everything again and have 4 hours to set aside to try to finally make sense of it all. Wished it were more plug and play.

Bought the 920DW because I live in an apartment, and thought I might like something to take with me when visiting my daughters, or relatives, for copying pictures or other things. It mostly sits on my tabletop in my bedroom. MostIy leave it plugged in via the USB. It always is ready, it quickly turns on without hardly any time to wait, usually very quickly. Love that it will do both sides of documents (medical, etc), or just one side. Sometimes I do not get it going in straight, so will make extra copies on the SD card, and take it to my computer to take a look and see what copy I like and want to save in the PDF format. Have copied bills for legal use, but have not been able to download the 'receipt' software from Brother because I have misplaced my password, so I do not know how it will work with receipts yet. All in all, am enjoying using it, but it has only been used by me, no one else, taking good care of it, so it has not given me any problems yet, and have had it over a year now.

The scanning capabilities were good. I had no problem using the cable, but Wi-Fi never worked. The warranty, naturally, has run out. I have since purchased a printer with scanning capabilities and will be using it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Defective Unit My unit was defective from the moment I opened it. The 'OK' button would not work with meant a host of features could not be used, including computer linkage. Brother sent me a refurb unit as a replacement, but it did not have a battery in it and I sent the defective one back with the battery, so I'm still waiting to use it while the battery is on back order. Ordeal. Wonder if it will ever work?

My scanner is wireless, yet plugs in to charge and be able to scan direct to computer and files. This products workmanship is poor, since after plugging into USB connection the USB pulled away from scanner only to drop inside so the scanner is no longer usable the way it is easiest used. Now what I have is a piece of junk that no one wants to replace. To expensive to be a throw away product....want Brother to replace...bad reviews for this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wish I could return it I purchased in July 2017, didn't use untill August 2017. The bluetooth option doesn't work. I called help desk and the model is from 2015. They needed my receipt to do any corrections, sadly I am in the middle of moving and misplaced it. Another issue is it gives a yellow background on scans and darkens documents. I have useless documents now.

I bring it with me to the doctor's office so that i have a copy of what I sign. I also scanBill's, placing the check on top of it so that it is a record of payment (careful not to cover billing details. I have also used it to capture certificates of students who must qualify before attending class. I have 1 and 2 spares.

However, mine started making a yellow background in Jan and I contacted support and they said I needed to send it it but never got back to me as to where or how, even after 2 messages. Support is lacking, I ended up throwing it away as it has sat on my desk for 6 months being useless.

As far as the wireless goes it is as long as I turn off my internet connection then connect with the DSmobile® 920DW. I find this a bit Inconvenient. As I said I am still learning the product.

So since I had and have such great luck with the 600 I returned to brother for my new scanner. My new scanner (DS Mobile 920 works like a charm and with the wifi feature I can scan anywhere. Great piece of equipment for the mobile office.

No errors,quickly scans to the SD card provided and then shows up on on PC where I can rename and move to a folder. Working great for my genealogy documents.

We have had them for about a year and a half. Documents scanned come in crystal clear. They are simple to use on a mobile device with the free app. We have had only one issue that was resolved immediately with a phone call. A new scanner was shipped overnight at no cost to us.

"program stopped working correctly", or file disappears while scanning without an error message in PC mode. Scan only small files to minimize re-work. Feed mechanism works well. Rated 5 out of 5 by from DSmobile 920DW It works very well and the battery charge last a good amount of time, but the price tag of $50.00 for the battery replacement that I can only find through Brother was a big disappointment. The other thing I didn't like about the scanner is that sometimes the credit cards and CA DL don't always load well and the scanned image is only partial and tiny. One is unaware this has happened until the image is downloaded to a computer and by then it is too late to be re-scanned and corrected.

There is no paper holder and you have to feed documents one by one, and sometimes it causes jam. Overall great product, good speed, and quality.

This one does the job quite well. I use the storage of the unit as a drive on my computer after I connect it up and transfer the files very easily.

This is a very simple scanner and not suitable for an advanced business situation. Although it says it is WiFi, tech support explained that a scanned receipt cannot be transferred directly to my computer in that mode. You must use the memory card for WiFi. Even calling tech support was useless. Some very incompetent and actually hostile tech support reps. Will return for a higher end scanner.

But once running the scanner worked great. I takes up little room and uses no cords. It can be easily put away and taken out when needed. It has two side scanning and that saves time for some documents. I would recommend this scanner to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DSMobile is OK I am not a fan of small format scanners in general, but the larger ones just are an incredible pain in terms of how much space they take up and how long they take to scan. At first, when I used it on my Mac Book, teh DSmobile 920DW seemed like a piece of junk. I just hated the way it behaved, the software tools, the lack of setup utilities, etc. I was even thinking of returning it. When I hooked it up to my PC, however, it behaved, EXACTLY as I expected it to. No fuss, no muss. It quickly and painlessly scanned all my loose pages and I am in the process of going about getting rid of years of paper clutter and getting them organized, which to my sad admission, I find fun.... It appears very no frills in general, but I am happy with how it performs when attached to a PC. Do not have much need for it outside the office. It takes up little room and sits on my desk just fine. The feeding mechanism can be described as a little finicky, but you quickly get used to it and it is no big deal unless you have some really ratty pages to scan. For a PC, for someone that has bare bones scanning requirements, I would recommend this. On the Mac, I wouldn't have my expectations set to high. It may work better on the Mac with different software.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nice compact unit I have purchased this Brother scanner because it was capable of scanning both sides of a document and can scan up to 32 inches in length. My other portable scanner can only scan one side and up to 14 inches in length. I am a consultant and I take this portable unit with me now in place of the my previous scanner. Faster, and more importantly can scan both sides and longer contract length type documents are scannable too.

Instructions and procedures are unnecessarily complicated. Installation of WiFi was problematic. Images were not clear and crisp, they had gray backgrounds instead of white and maximum dpi is only 600, not adequate for printing enlarged presentations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product & Service I am a detail guy who has a tough time discarding information that might be needed in the future. I received a DSmobile® 920DW for Christmas and quickly went to put it to use - to save me from myself. I found that the battery would not hold a charge long enough to maintain the config to allow me to alter the config so that it would not shutdown when the battery charge was too low. This was a classic "catch 22." I worked with Brother service and ultimately, we concluded that the battery was defective. Brother quickly sent me a new battery and the device now works fine. Product design is nice and service makes the package great. Very portable and easy to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Okay product for the price. Duplex needs work. Purchased item and had trouble. Tech support was responsive and helpful. They spoke English and didn't waste time on stupid suggestions (turn it off and on again). The problem was resolved. I purchased the unit to scan mail without an attached computer. Works fine for single pieces but will not do multi-page without a computer. Huge bummer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Scanner for the money I've wanted one of these for home use every since I used a much larger scanner at work that cost $24,000. This scanner scans both sides at one, and saves the image as either a PDF or JPG. But that's just half of why this is a great buy. The software that comes with it makes it a must have for anyone wanting to organize your life. Great for sending forms, organizing receipts, and much much more for less than $200.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Defective connectors I have bought 15 of the Brother 920Dw scanners for our staff and we are down to three and all twelve have broke due to the connector for the usb cord breaks. it was cheaply soldier on to a chip board and they snap off in no time. They could have done a better design on the connector

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Features Great scanner, portable and no wires with the wifi and the rechargeable batteries. Scanning is easy once you learn the associated programs. It can be a bit cumbersome to set up the organizing program to receive the scanned files. Scanning to the inserted SD card is really easy and quick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Portability and Good Quality Scans Love my Brother Mobile Scanner! I belong to a group that meets every two weeks to work on needle crafts, which I am not good at. To aid in my home downsizing efforts, I have been taking this little gem to the meetings with a pile of stuff to scan - mostly old family photos. It is a rather mindless task which allows me to be sociable at the same time. I'm great advertising for this very mobile wireless scanner! Everybody wants one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome buy I bought this scanner to help me with mygenealogy work. I scan so many documents and photo's most of which is at my various family's homes. This is perfect because of it's portability I can take it where ever I go. The quality of everything I've scanned is prefect, very crisp. I love that I can scan either a single side or double side document or photo! It's small so it doesn't take up a lot of room, great price and superior quality!!!!

I have not been able to make this thing work wirelessly and that is largely due to not understanding some of the terms used in the directions. It is NOT easy to set up at all as they said it would be when I bought it. Maybe I will be able to figure it out but as of right now, I am somewhat disappointed in this product and being able to set it up on my own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product. Do your scans without a computer! With this unit I scan in a lot of documents and receipts without being connected to anything. When I am ready I use the SD card to move the documents and receipts over to my hard drive. So this sweet device allows me to just have the scanner when I am on the go for a few days, and when I return just move it onto my computer. Another great feature is the two sided scanning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wifi connection fails The scanner is adequate for simple desktop work. The wifi connection failed, reported a hardware error, and Brother says I have to replace the unit at my cost. Not great customer support.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Horrible Customer Service Although the portable scanner itself is a good piece of equipment, the service and support from Brother is the worst I've ever experienced. The USB mini-port on the device broke off the first time I used it. Cold solder joints. It took me two days to get someone on the phone to help. The automated customer service voicemail system took me round and round without results. The only line that answered was software support. The two times when I got a tech on the line, they both told me they couldn't help with a hardware problem and didn't know who I could call. After working my way through the complany, I finally got a hardware guy on the phone. He told me it wasnt worth fixing and said to throw it out and buy another one. I asked him to provide me with the warranty service address anyway. I took my chances and sent the device and all accessories back in the original carton. I was surprised in a couple of weeks to get a new device. It was new in the box and had the software, the documentation, the memory card and the cable. No battery. I called support again and asked about the battery. I was told that I shouldnt have sent the battery back with the device. I was told that this was my problem. I was told that I should have known better. She also couldnt tell me where I could obtain a battery. I sent an email to Brother asking where I could get a battery, since the device is useless without one. So, I sent Brother another $50 to get a battery to replace the one they took from me. Never again, Brother. Never again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Easy & Fast! I bought this to scan monthly bills and receipts that I wanted to keep for year end tax purposes. It worked terrific for what I wanted. It even helped me fly through scanning old photographs that I thought would take forever. I LOVE IT.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small and will make double sided scans. Works well as a small double sided scanner. I have not used anything like this before. Small and pretty fast. Downside, cost of replacement or extra battery is crazy expensive and only available through Brother.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Review Once I had the scanner operational, it is fine.. the challenge was the instructions that left many small details about installation out. Guess you were supposed to figure out the missing steps. and then the Brother's tech support left a lot to be desired. Honestly.. spent about 5 hours in the phone one day as I continued to have challenges. Would recommend scanner, but not sure that I can do the same for Brothers tech support..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 3.5 would be more accurate This is my second DS 920DW. It has a lot of features making it totally irreplacable in my travel kit. WiFi, USB, Memory Card ... yep, all three! Battery or USB for power ... yep! Absolutely great with great performance from such a small footprint. The problem - and the reason this is a "second" and only a 3.5 is there is a known issue with the USB connector breaking off! For the price - it shouldn't have a known issue that could be corrected so basically. I am TOLD by Brother that is it no longer an issue with new models; we shall see! So it is a mixed bag - breaking with very little usage BUT having everything needed by a very mobile road warrior who is on planes, trains and automobiles with it! Brother has a kicking device here - IF they worked out the breakage situation!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Had High Hopes Wonderful little machine... except almost every time I try scanning a large number of pages into a pdf after I am well in it suddenly decides there is no paper in the paper feeder and it terminates the scan. Start over, after 30-40 pages same thing. I am very very careful to insert another page at the proper time and hit okay before it times out. Turns out this is, practically, useless to me.
